But it's so much easier to go and do something myself then convince 5-10 of my friends to do it. So again, you're ostracizing even more of the community. No, actually it's a way to get more people to donate blood. All of this is about getting more people to donate blood. I'd love it if you could explain how creating ways that allow a greater number of people to be involved ostracizes more of the community. You only have to convince one friend to do it to get the same reward you would from giving yourself, not 5-10.

You are not getting nearly an accurate representation of the community here. This survey has also been posted on reddit and Neoseeker. No survey is perfect, however the data we are collecting shows that there is a lot of interest within the community, and is giving us a good feel for the rewards people would most like to receive.

We could work with the Canadian Red Cross at a later time, but initially it will just be the American Red Cross.

Yes, I am thinking that at donation centers, donors will give workers their username if they play League, or the name of the player who referred them.
: My wife has been volunteering for the Red Cross and educated me about this event from back in 2011 that is the origin of Nurse Akali: http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=633653 Coincidentally just this morning I suggested the idea of doing something like this again because I personally agree that donating blood is a vital cause. Regardless every blood donation service tests the blood they receive. If you know you're clean why can't you donate? From the information you've given it's okay for a man to have sex with seven different prostitutes and donate blood two days later but a man who has been in a relationship with another man for an extended period of time can't? : The red cross makes hundreds of millions of dollars a year selling your blood to hospitals. Why should they expect you to give it to them for free? They are literally taking your life and selling it and giving you nothing in return except for some shitty cookies and juice.

Why should they expect you to give it to them for free? They are literally taking your life and selling it and giving you nothing in return except for some shitty cookies and juice. All centers that supply blood for transfusions sell their product to cover operating expenses, not just the American Red Cross. However, it goes without saying that we always make blood available to any patient who needs it. Still need more answers, right now more people who are enthusiastic about it seem to be doing the survey. If you can't donate, this is important for us to hear.

There was a rainbow of color then black and a second later they said I had passed out. Yeah, sounds like planning gone incredibly wrong. When I got circumsized, I had a simillar situation. They're like: try sit up real slowly, and don't act all tough. First I intended on just rushing it, but when the nurse mentioned that they had have people passing out due to simply going up too fast and not respecting their bodies, I destroyed that idea and followed her instructions. And there it was, simply sitting up straight made me dizzy, and it took a couple of minutes before I could get a hold of it and feel relativly normal again. And even so, I had eaten relativly normal. My point is; blood loss is no joke. And the fact that losing blood weakens you severely, being weak before that ends up in disaster. Of course, nothing too serious, just embarassment and some aftermath.

Although if proper precautions are taken, ill effects of blood donation should be minimal to nonexistent.

I don't support the ARC since whenever I give them anything they start calling my house and sending me mail begging for more money or blood for months. : we already have a blood drive champion its called {{champion:16}}. but no i really can't im scared of needles.
Even if you cannot donate you can still earn rewards by referring others to do so. If you can, please fill out the survey, we need data from people who cannot donate as well.

: I am 0 +, but haven't donated recently, simply due to time constraints, distance and no motivation. I know how important it is, my mother works for a local hospital as a "blood banker" to use a bit of a slang term, but she manages the tests, and makes sure every patient who needs it gets the right amount with as little antibody/antigen interference etc as possible.. all in all I feel like this is a great idea, but to be able to get Riot on board would be a huge undertaking in and of itself. They have their own vision, and sadly, they rarely take outside input from my experience with the game and the company's decision making from what I've seen.

Riot Games has a history of working with the American Red Cross, so I think they will be open to it for sure. However, us collecting this data to demonstrate the viability of this campaign is important.

: Why are you coming onto GD for this? Contact Riot directly so I don't feel like this is just some random nobody doing this for kicks and giggles.

We plan to very soon, however first we want to collect data on the viability of the concept we are presenting to them. Riot games has a history with the American Red Cross. : I haven't been in a homosexual relationship but I identify as a homosexual, does that make me ineligible? What about for people not in United States?

What about for people not in United States? If you have had sex with a man since 1977, this is what restricts you from giving blood. Sexuality does not matter. Oh, and even if you know you cannot give blood, please fill out the survey, we need data from those who cannot give as well. You will still be able to get the same rewards as those who can by referring others.
: Well I had to give blood once for my doctor to see what the level of medicine was in my body and the worker ended up taking 2 times as much blood as she was supposed to and then I passed out so I'm never giving blood again after that LOL

The person who took your blood was likely inexperienced. Red Cross staff do this every single day, so I can assure you that such a thing would not happen.
: Hey if you work with blood remind me which one is the best? I think its 0- But i cant remember. Also i would love to see vlad get a skin like that, it'd be hilarious. Also i'd be willing to donate, i used to be terrified of giving blood, but a while ago i had to go get my blood tested like every week for some medication i was on and now im not so scared anymore. Still feels weird to do though.

There is no best blood, we need all types. Here is some information on the types and who can receive from who. : Can't donate. I'm in a homosexual relationship. Tell you're company to quit ostracizing me.

Tell you're company to quit ostracizing me. Yea, sorry about that. It's not just the American Red Cross, it's every major blood donation organization in the US :/
