: Quick Gameplay Thoughts: December 6
Is the Night & Dawn event a way of Riot signalling that it doesn't want to do Versus events anymore after this? There's no single clash between two single champions of opposing dichotomies, and the Soraka variant suggests a reconciliation or balance between the two forces i.e. "ending the conflict".
: League Client won't open 2019.
There was a comment on here that helped me - go to Task Manager and see if League Of Legends appears anywhere in the list. Right click it and select End Task. If it's listed multiple times do the same until they're all gone. Then see if clicking the shortcut makes the client appear again.
: I think you missed a bit of lore hiding in the VO and the short story. I'll do my best to explain this without spoiling anything. So, Rhaast is not from the Odyssey universe. No corruptant is -- he is alone, having fallen through the Ora Gate at an as-yet (pay attention to the special loading screen tips when the mode goes live!) undetermined point in time, and can't return on his own. Being a corruptant, his ultimate goal is to consume all of existence (this is why he sounds like he wants to eat people) and and then leap into the Dark Star itself, ending time, thought, and matter. However, the Dark Star does not exist in Odyssey. This "Ora" stuff does instead, which is biological fuel that enhances people and technology. In order to reactivate the Ora Gate for his own purposes he needs both a body (he somehow got trapped in this scythe, again pay attention to the loading screen tips!) and a TON of Ora, so he subtly influences Kayn and makes his unbidden ambitions take over his mind. Twisting his youthful anger into an obsessive need to adsorb the Ora of other sentients, Kayn takes Sona, someone who can speak to Ora and who knows how the Gate operates, and attempts to 'open' it and gain 'unlimited power.' This, of course, is a ruse. Rhaast is lying the entire time -- he doesn't care about Ora as anything but a tool. Sona escapes, and Rhaast and Kayn end up getting stuck with each other for years longer than either of them intended as they hunt her down. She joins the Morning Star, Kayn starts chasing the crew, and bingo bango here we are. I don't think anybody knows what Rhaast really is. To understand his true self would be like a normal human comprehending an eldritch god -- even the general concept of the alien, sentient Dark Star would break an average person's mind. Jarvan is just a mortal emperor doing Mortal Emperor Stuff, and Kayn starts actively disobeying him the minute he picks up the scythe. Dude has no idea what a Dark Star is... we do because, obviously, we have Player Knowledge. They do not. As for the Ora Gate? I know what it is and how it works, but I'm not talking ;) Annnnnd... yeah, I didn't spoil anything! Hope that helps!

Why does every Riot post about lore speculation end this way?

I was considering Volibear and Annie for the Big and Little Bears as well. Gnar would probably be Hercules, because strength.

: The Current State of Bandle City & Yordle Lore
What if Bandle City is not a specific location, but more of a super malleable dimension that can look like whatever your imagination makes it? Secret rifts in hidden places around the world, not quite certain where they're going to take you, suddenly you could be in a hallway or a burrow or a meadow with THATCHED-ROOF COTTAGES - or somewhere with high-tech or heavy sorcery. Also what if yordles are immortal-ish in that they can come back or respawn from death situations but at some fundamental cost to their psyches? It would explain yordles like {{champion:17}} = doesn't have a home in Runeterra, he's the yordle guarding the Bandleway from the outside world, almost certainly had to do some REALLY bad things to keep it safe, would lose more of himself as he lives and dies and lives again, wants to forget the screams but still has an unwavering duty to protect his world from those who would abuse the power it is comprised of. Also given that a number of yordle champs appear to be concepts of various regions made manifest (e.g. {{champion:78}} for Demacia, {{champion:240}} for Noxus)...
: Why?
Teemo is banned because five Teemos = too many mushroom traps. Karthus is banned because his ult targets every enemy champion globally for near-unavoidable damage. Think about five of them cast at once...
: Yep. I'm not asking anyone to pretend to not be frustrated. If you're frustrated, please keep telling us! It's important for us to know these things. ADCs need adjustments, I agree. We're discussing the extent to which we may change things. We've talked changing their power curves, their base stats and stat growth, their item paths, their top end dps, individual problematic items, etc. We haven't settled on any particular direction, and so all I can talk is hopeful timeline at the moment. And again, if that doesn't cut it, please continue to voice that in a way that is demonstrative of how you think the game ought to be change. There are tons of opinions out there as to the direction we ought to take the game on basically any topic we could choose, so keep those opinions coming. It's appreciated.
I feel part of the issue is that marksman generally operate with the same end goal: hit enemies with sustained ranged physical AA damage. There could be item paths for hypercarries with Atk Speed, or assault gunners with AD and CDR, maybe a poke-based sniper class or rangers with utility focuses. But this kinda runs counter to the earlier explanation that paraphrases not reworking champions for the sake of making sub-classes alone (square pegs into round holes)
: Glad you enjoyed it! Plenty more lore coming this year, too :-) It's definitely a physical manifestation of Malzahar's connection with the Void. Whether it's an eye, or a glowing sigil, or something else entirely... who can say?
I thought his mind was literally opened to the Void - kindof like using an ice cream scoop to remove brains :-) EDIT: Now I want ice cream
: > In order to survive in literally the most dangerous place in the universe, she would have to be in good shape, well, i would have preferred her like this masterpiece: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5c/Firenze_-_Museo_Opera_del_Duomo%2C_Maddalena.jpg/800px-Firenze_-_Museo_Opera_del_Duomo%2C_Maddalena.jpg she's called ''the regretting saint madeleine" , a masterpiece from the italian sculptor Donatello during renaissance. saint madeleine was, as the legend says, an old woman that was wandering, lost, in south france. her very long hair, her expression, you can feel the struggle. that's how i'd imagine Kai'sa after being in the most dangerous place in the universe, the void. not just like a top model walking around for shopping
Apparently Kai'Sa is also nearly six hundred years old and made of wood :3

He also needs something to focus on when he isn't staring the enemy team into oblivion - apart from not getting ganked.
: We tested Aurelion Sol, and to be frank I don't think he's hurt as much as people here think. Lost Chapter being 200g more expensive means Aurelion gets to free push his lane and get several more bases off than previously, whereas before other mid laners could contest him earlier into the game. I think it'll be a pain point for ASol players to learn a new build, but I have no concerns that he'll be weak with the strength of Rylai's/Liandry's going up so much for him.
Lost Chapter being 200g cheaper... ?

"A King remains in the Mist. And another marches." It's probably a {{champion:82}} reference; maybe the massive threat Swain is preparing for is Mordekaiser coming back with a giant Harrowing?

: I think it's a fair critique to call out particular cases where we could be doing more (in your example Sej). There are certainly different levels of options per champion right now and while I don't think we can ever avoid that completely, we do want to add more to make sure players/champs hit a minimum bar for choice. We are hoping to add or rework more runes at a quicker pace than we ever have before and certainly to build the system up more from the base version we've released with. Though I don't know that I agree with the assertion that it's far worse than ever before I will enthusiastically agree with fleshing it out more. :)
If I may leave my two cents, I'd say that at present there are many runes that are superior choices to others, among them runes that are taken less for their unique scalings and more for the free stats they provide (e.g. Transcendence being take more for the free 10% CDR than for the adaptive power per extra CDR, or Celerity and its free MS). As a personal opinion, Gathering Focus by contrast only grants its power above 70% health which can more easily be nullified in a world where burst damage can hit for more. Have there been alternate incarnations considered, like making it a periodic thing similar to Thresh's Flay passive?

Any opinions on Triumph in Precision? Lots of people take it when running Precision primary or secondary, and it seems like it's primarily because of the bonus gold on kills and assists. I feel like it's outperforming Overheal and Presence of Mind.
: Can we start to get more LORE based skins?
I think a good idea would be to rework the Crimson Elite splashes, make them into a shared splash piece like the Card Sets with {{champion:82}} {{champion:134}} {{champion:4}} {{champion:35}} {{champion:81}}

: Since Varus' story has been rewritten, I'd love for there to be a Dark Knight Champion
I'd say Kassadin could be a fit for that - provided lore updates
: On the side note of Phyrexia - was any of Lissandra's design based off Elesh Norn from New Phyrexia? Her design is really similar ( mainly having a head boomerang) and her Bloodstone splash art looks akin to Elesh Norn's Marrow Shards
Especially the image I saw once of what lies under those porcelain-smooth masks... Reminds me of jerky.

: Ornn Short Story: The Lost Tales of Ornn
Few Questions: 1. Are the ursine "bear bears" like Volibear, or are they more like werebears or musclemen with bear heads? The use of "half-bear abominations" kindof makes an ursine sound more like a chimerical, minotaur-like monster than a sentient bear. 2. Volibear is a dick in the story; is this because he is the aspect of war and nature in the Freljord pantheon, which both have depictions of being cruel and favoring the strong? Aka Volibear isn't evil, but he's cruel and pitiless? 3. Is Volibear's armor in-game stolen from Hearth-Home? 3. You think Gragas would fit better as a demigod of revelry than as a drunken fatass (too statistically well-rounded figuratively and literally)? 4. That legless boy - is he just flavor for the story's vibe, or have the players seen him somewhere before...? (Note: Camille would have been legless at one point)... Is this storytelling session set in the past, and might the boy have become a champion to his people... ?

: No, ranged allies can neither start Permafrost nor stack it. Sejuani's got a strong melee specific synergy, in part because we wanted to got for a heavy cavalry leading a tribe full of up close and personal warrior types feel.
Part of the impetus behind that was to make it so that Sej couldn't upstage Braum as a support, right? I can visualize the problems if a bot buddy could enable a point-and-click stun that doesn't seem to require her to actually be the one hitting the enemy... Still, if Sejuani doesn't have a reliable way to get Permafrost stacks on enemies then a lot of her functionality as a champion seems to have been offloaded to extreme dependence on melee ally competency - assuming she has no ways to get Perma stacks, all she can do is charge and apply a large slow, which a lot of other champions can do with more devastating results.

: Oh, you mean the new fighter/skirmisher/ADC mastery? Most tanks have their damage front-loaded into their engage. Appreciate you taking your time to visit the thread, though. (actually not sarcasm)
Questions could be raised about concepts such as tanks NEEDING to supply a large damage increase into the fight in the first place, allowing the enemy team to scale high enough into the late game to wreck your tanks even allowing for defensive itemization ala Thornmail etc, tanks being dependent on a single mastery that while rewarding their high cc output was not entirely intended for them specifically, etc. From what I'm seeing the damage choices now are between a 7.5% damage increase w/ 5 unique kills (highest damage increase, but a cost paid in having to get those 5 unique kills aka why most peeps were taking Oppressor instead), a 5% flat damage increase with a 2.5% increase in damage taken (you get your damage increase flat but pay for it in taking more up the a - - ), and a 5% damage increase with its cost paid in a 5sec charge-up time of 1%damage/sec. In that light, Oppressor had no actual cost for its damage increase apart from the need for the target to be afflicted by impaired movement (even slows), and the fact that cc'd enemies are far more prevalent in the game than five-man teams of easily-killed champions meant that though Oppressor's benefit was smaller than a farmed Bounty Hunter's, it was far more reliable to proc and therefore accounted for higher damage overall than Bounty Hunter's promises. I guess the question here is: should tanks have to worry about their options for dealing higher damage to the enemy team themselves? They're already providing a meat shield that trips up and belly slams the enemy so that your f'ing Teemo can drag them to hell screaming (even more so in the new patch). And if the concern were about "being melted down in the late game", well, what does that say about fighters/skirmishers/adcs who are much much squishier and therefore more likely to worry about melting?
: Can you please link masteries changes here? Thank you.
: what is courage of the colossus ?
