DarklawX is correct, the screencap I included was from back in 2014 when this website was still readily available through riots own API. These days you have to request a ticket to get this information disclosed.

: PSA: don't buy Little Legends when TFT releases, this pricing model is scummy even by Riot standards
>Riot, just quit being scummy. The prestige skins, the paid loading screen borders, the 3000 RP ruby chromas, the grindy events with laughable rewards compared to other games, etc. This game used to be pretty consumer friendly all things considered, instead of slowly inching towards fleecing people more without saying anything Riot is coming out and trying to spin you getting fucked out of money as a good thing. Come on, just let us buy the Legends a la carte and give a slow path to obtaining them for free to play players. This system could've been so cool if it was gameplay or achievement based, but you guys had to go ruin it. Welcome to the tencent business model & why I will forever despise / mock / ridicule both Marc Merrill and Brandon Beck for being stupid enough to sell to them. I've played this game since 2010 and used to enjoy their monetary model a lot .. like https://i.imgur.com/jpLtcDF.png **a lot.** Fast forward to now and my disposable income will forever go elsewhere as predatory marketing tactics are all tencent is known for, at least for those of us in the know. Sad. Shame on Marc and Brandon for being so short sighted. ********************************************************** #Great write up by the way, +1 from this space wanderer.

I believe I should report such posts under the offensive tag, because even though they're not particularly offensive they serve no purpose other than defaming groups. Should I continue to report these posts as offensive, report them under other tags, or leave them alone? There is a bit more leeway here, but we do remove these if they cross a reasonable line. For example: "I find Yasuo mains are often toxic" is a personal experience, and not necessarily bashing that entire group. "Riven mains are bootlickers" or "Shaco mains are delusional" are much more clearly insulting, and would be subject to removal. There are definitely some grey areas here, and we navigate them as best we can.
So what you're saying is that there are no agreed upon set of rules and that you as "moderators" deem what is fit or unfit based on your personal interpretation regarding the intent of any person that submits a post here. Must be nice being psychic. You remind me of Discord's trust & safety team. No team at all, just a bunch of individuals happily wielding power they don't understand in a way that draws the immediate ire of the community they foolishly think they're helping. Top it all off with you lot having the audacity to even attempt to play the victim card. How laughable you are.

: HOLY SHIT I just read that article, and you could say that Tencent ruined League by backing it up with the line: "Major changes are coming to League of Legends in 2016, the company detailed earlier this fall" Clicking on various links within the article made me find that there's a lot of things rooted around Tencent buying out Riot Games. Whoever decided to let Riot be bought out completely was an idiot.
>Whoever decided to let Riot be bought out completely was an idiot. That would be Marc Merrill and Brandon Beck, the founders of Riot Games. They were stupid enough to sell the majority of their shares to TenCent back in 2011 and decided to relinquish the rest of it a few years later. Instead of **owning** a now multi-billion dollar IP they sold it to a conglomerate. Very idiotic indeed.

: I don't see why Riot even bothered with a conversion rate. No matter what it was, people would still rage that it was enough, that they deserved more for playing the game. Really? Riot doesn't owe you anything mate. You played the game. You spent your money and time on the game, voluntarily. You were never guaranteed any form of compensation, for any of the changes to the game. The game could permanently shut down tomorrow, and that would be it. If I were Riot, I would have just ended the rune system, without compensation. If people are going to complain about free stuff, why bother? May as well save the money by not rewarding them.
>I don't see why Riot even bothered with a conversion rate. And that's why you're you and they're Riot. I'd type up a long winded post to try to help you understand why they _even bothered_ with a conversion rate .. but I've got better things to do. Customer retention is the short answer. Something that should be **every** businesses #1 priority, Riot tried to pay it lip service, and failed miserably.

I never directly attacked someone in them (except Riot), I just stated, albeit not in the most graceful way since I was not feeling that great yesterday, that Misfits, while playing honourable should not be congratulated for failure. Almost winning a game should not bring them eulogy even if is against titans like SKT. They lost making mistakes and is up to them to show the world they can improve and be the champions they have the potential to be. They even stated they want to win this, which it really made me root for them. And if a team doesn't come to worlds with that mentality ... I don't think that team should be at worlds. What that entails is primarily this. Wives must submit to their husbands and husbands must love and cherish their wives as they do their own body. Also, keep the v-card until you are married. If you are in a relationship that involves sex after every date, are you really in it for your partner or just the pleasure? When dating it is easier to determine if you love the person or just the sex if the sex isn't even a factor. If the wife is always telling the husband what to do and is the "man of the house," the marriage will likely fail. If the husband doesn't respect his wife and not tell her to do anything he wouldn't do himself, the marriage will likely fail. If the wife works while the husband raises the children, the marriage will likely fail. I guarantee that just by me uttering the statement "wives must submit to their husbands," a lot of people who read this are immediately pulling out the word bigot and sexist. That is the problem with today's society. Anything resembling a stable marriage is shunned.

Honor feels frustrating to upkeep if you are only let down at the end of it.
Riot doesn't care about accounts with all champions unlocked, as evidenced by their continuous negligence toward providing players like us with _any_ kind of option other than champion shards we don't need. First with blue essence and now with honor capsules. Makes me laugh.

I have no way to calculate their operating costs, but i know 100% it's a VERY small % of 1.6 billion. > So whenever you and other people say anything like "riot can't do X" or "riot does X" "because they need to make money", like they will go out of business or something it looks really "white-knighty" to me lol Check this out. It's april 2017 Activision Blizzard financials. the tl;dr is below - http://investor.activision.com/secfiling.cfm?filingID=1104659-17-49333&CIK=718877 They made 1.6 billion (Both companies combined) in revenue. **Do you know what the costs were to make this 1.6 Billion? 1.2 Billion in COSTS** Resulting in a paltry, but respectable, net income of 243 million. Revenue means nothing if it cost a lot to make it. Also, unlike Activision Blizzard, they do not have millions of people monthly subscribing to WoW. They do not have a massive back catalog of games people will "pick up" on a steam sale. Sure, Riot has old skins but they're no where close to what a massive back-catalog can do for you. Activision Blizzard then has to reinvest some of this into dividends (Shareholders) or put it into something meaningful. An example would be hiring a new team or R&D on a game engine. Riot would take this 243 million, and presumably - a lot - would go back to Tencent. That's not much when you consider it costs millions to make a new game, develop R&D (League won't last forever), or promote/create League Pro scene stuff. They may have less than $100 mill to play with in the end. No offense but the way you worded "Riot Made 1.6 billion dollars....blah blah blah their operating costs are VERY SMALL!!" makes you sound unaware of the subject matter. Which is fine. But now you know.
>They made 1.6 billion (Both companies combined) in revenue. Do you know what the costs were to make this 1.6 Billion? 1.2 Billion in COSTS 1.2B in costs after a 1.6B **quarterly report**. LOL. You might want to learn the difference between annual profit and quarterly profit before marching around talking down to others as though you're educated on the matter at all. Cheers.

It absolutely would matter. You don't build a billion (or even just a million) dollar company by taking unnecessary losses. Each subsidiary of the parent company has numbers to meet, and the financial loss on the new system is probably already a stretch that took work to accomplish. Riot has to recoup some loss and prepare to move forward with the new system in place. How they've chosen to go about that seems like the most fair and generous option, imo.

I italicized the word matter for a reason. You seem to have responded as though I were using it at face value. I personally earn 6 figures per year via my career, as a result I routinely donate at least $500 to a charity (usually a GDQ series) -- my point in bringing this up is that $500 is an negligible amount in the face of what I earn over the course of 12 months. I see Riot as having the same luxury, in that, they _could_ afford to take a "loss" (in the moment, easily recouped via their normal monetary operations) while still retaining financial stability 10 times over. Much like I do in the face of donations I like to make. Maybe I'm just too altruistically minded.

: I'm happy to talk about what else we could do to make veterans feel better (I personally think we should do something unique for vets besides these rewards and the emotes—just not more BE) but in order for us to have that conversation we have to at least be agreed on the basic facts, right?
>just not more BE That literally costs us nothing but effort to produce and has **zero** value outside of our video game. You're talking about lines of code as though they're a finite amount of gold bars. Give me a damn break.
: As an "older player" (season 1-2) I'm personally not worried about compensation. In my opinion it's the shorter term "veterans" complaining. My reasoning? I'm not a rank player, I just tinker with ARAM, poro king, and so forth. Quite casual these days. What's that got to do with it? I have almost 200k IP. And I haven't skimped on runes or champions. 200k IP, after all the rune purchases, shifts, endless champions coming out over the years, etc. Sure, I could complain and say they should make my total 300k IP instead of 200k, but what is the point? There isn't one. So to me, it's only the "younger" veterans (who arguably had it easier than I had it) expecting big return on their runes. Even if Riot gave me nothing in return for the years of runes, I know I have enough IP to do whatever I please when the BE system comes out. So to me there is a defining line. If you're in the boat of "I need a higher IP return because I spent X on runes" you're not an old player being screwed by the system. Because those of us who REALLY had to grind out runes, at double the prices they are right now, likely don't care. It was years ago. The ones raging likely spent the last 6 months grinding them out, and feel the change is robbing all their effort. Just my two cents.

The ones raging likely spent the last 6 months grinding them out, and feel the change is robbing all their effort. Just my two cents. I'll preface this by saying that I'm in the same position as you are - indifferent to the refunds, at least personally. I've also been playing since season 1. ************************************ That being said, when I found this game I decided early on that I wanted to enter the competitive atmosphere as soon as I felt equipped enough to do so. Runes were a definitive staple in this pursuit of feeling equipped to enter ranked play, at least to me. Riot (imo) designed it this way in an attempt to separate the _casual_ player from the _hardcore_ or whatever monikers you prefer to use. That is to say, they implemented runes _banking_ on players like myself that wanted to focus on being the _best_ rather than _having fun_ (very subjective terms, interpret my use of them as you will). Well guess what? It worked. Players in season 1 and 2 that only played solo Q were never without a full T3 rune page. At least in my experiences from October 2010 - November 2011. It was simply unheard of to enter solo Q without at least 1 competent rune page in tact. ************************** #tl;dr - Some veteran players feel that runes were not a luxury, they were a requirement for those that wanted to take the game seriously. As a result these players feel that grind / dedication should be refunded at a 1:1 ratio. Just my opinion. Cheers.
: I'm really glad to see this post, because a lot of other boards posts have been a sort of mishmash of feedback about all the other changes (rewards/leveling) and this is a great opportunity for us to focus specifically on the rune rewards. OP has a fair question here, and it's basically this: **We're giving rewards to players for buying runes in the past, but it's not a FULL refund for all runes purchased since the beginning. Why?** While we're not intending to change the reward amounts that we've already announced, I do think we owe you guys a serious explanation, so here it is: To understand this you have to understand our business model. We use the money we get from sellings things to make the game better. Giving away IP means we make less money, because it cuts into future sales of champs for RP (and that's a big part of the business model for our game). It's how we get money to reinvest in the game with new features that make the game better for everyone. So what we're doing with the rune rewards is giving up a portion of our revenue. Why, then, are we giving back some blue essence for each tier three rune you ever bought? Why not give _nothing_ in exchange for runes, if it hurts revenue? The answer is that we understand that it feels bad to have something you paid for suddenly become free for other people. Given the broader context of how positive the upcoming runes changes are for the game, we think that giving a little something back is the right thing to do for players and for the long-term health of the game. The goal with the rewards we've announced is to recognize the time you’ve spent getting Runes and reward you fairly for it, without going overboard and hurting ourselves financially. That's the most straight and honest answer I can give you.
League of Legends making _less money_. I'm so tired of this entirely fabricated claim. [I'll just leave this here. Check out page 5.](https://www.tencent.com/en-us/articles/15000591490174029.pdf) ######What a sad joke.
: "EU already won a world title. In season 1" when no Korean team was playing. How many have they won since? "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" that was my reaction watching RR when I realized that UOL, FNT, and G2 were the best that EU could send. G2 EU champs... 1-5 at RR. P1 goes to relegation in NA.... 4-2 against EU teams at RR. Not impressed by EU {{sticker:fiora-cool}}
>"EU already won a world title. In season 1" when no Korean team was playing. How many have they won since? You're not wrong. As I previously stated - ######I use the terms harder and easier VERY subjectively. Judge away. Wink.
: NA will win one before EU does moving forward. RR showed how far behind EU is to NA.
