: The Final Week Begins
THE COUNCIL ARE NO LONGER LAST! WE MOVING UP IN THE WORLD!
: You know I am shocked to see that Riot is still trying to make Clash a thing, even after the disastrous launch that happened last time. I mean it was bad to, people lost time and money and all Riot could do was shrug their shoulders and say "We're sorry, here at our small indie company we didn't expect things to come up like this, know you spent time to get your teams ready and probably cleared your weekends for this but we just wanna say thanks for believing in us anyway and will try again some other time." I don't remember the compensation people got for that past debacle, it they ever got any. But I can't tell you with the backlash that happened because of it, it didn't matter in the end. And here we are several months later with a new release date for supposed beta testing. Now Riot I know you want to do good by people and give them a great experience but I'd be lying to myself when I say I really REALLY want to watch you blow it this year again. I wanna watch you disappoint people just one more time before the year is over, not so much as a sick satisfaction and entertainment for me but as confirmation that you as a billion dollar company can't make your game work and I watch the anger just pour in on you as you let down your fans one last time.
Man, you would think natural selection would work on humans but ig parents these days just don't get it that sometimes kids ain't worth it. Honestly tho, I am yet to understand why you're so pessimistic about something like this. While it is fair to be frustrated that Clash failed, doing this is better than just saying "o whoops we cant fix this we have to spend money on other thing lmao bye clash." Also people did get a clash orb + URF for their troubles. While it was ARURF and it is just a clash orb, most other companies wouldnt do shit for this kind of stuff.
: Not getting into an argument here but just saying these two things- No, it was not a major improvement, in fact it's made the game worse- the major reason why people complain about the state of the game is because of RR. and two- the majority, or close to it from what I've seen, do not like it and it needs to go. So yes, I will keep saying "**We**" want our old stuff back. Good bye.

Regarding your first point, I am yet to see any proof that Runes Reforged is the #1 cause of game problems. Champion balance is usually the #1 culprit, though there are exceptions (especially if you include bugs/glitches). Think about it, there are VERY few circumstances where a rune can decide the fate of a game. There are PLENTY of circumstances where champion stats/kits decide the fate of a game. Jax taking Grasp vs Electrocute does not completely change how you play (at least optimally). Jax with Electrocute vs Bard with Electrocute are massively different, and both have very different playstyles. So the statement that Runes Reforged is the cause of gameplay issues is grossly incorrect. Secondly, and this is somewhat related to the first point, where is the group of people that want Runes Reforged reverted? Are they hiding in some shady underground city where they are scared to voice their opinions? Have they been all kidnapped by Riot to suppress their outcries? I have seen people complain about specific runes, but that is like saying old runes and masteries had no problems too. Granted old runes and masteries weren't balanced much during later seasons compared to new runes but that is because they were not nearly as strong, and thus had way less agency in game. So no, both of your claims have little basis in reality. Acting like old runes and masteries is better than new runes is more a statement about how you don't like it when things change. Welcome to League, things change. Get over it.
: #RevertRunesReforged This stupid system needs to go!! We want our old runes and masteries back! #REVERT
> [{quoted}](name=SnugglePuggle94,realm=NA,application-id=A7LBtoKc,discussion-id=aIL8lE5J,comment-id=0031,timestamp=2018-10-26T16:38:44.179+0000) > > #RevertRunesReforged > > This stupid system needs to go!! We want our old runes and masteries back! > > #REVERT If by "we" you mean the entire community then no, not really. Other than a small minority of people who think like you it seems to me, and the majority of the community, that Runes Reforged (albeit with bumps and stuff along the way) was a major improvement over the old system. For one thing the cost of runes was just way too high, especially considering you couldn't change them in champ select. Plus it mostly ended up with people who either spent thousands and thousands of IP/BE on runes and pages, or people like me who just had 2 general pages, one for AP and one for AD. By contrast, Runes Reforged offers much more flexibility in how you pick pre game stats. I could drone on and on but that is just an example. The work Riot did with Runes Reforged was too much to just "revert" bc a small minority of people that don't like change. If anything, they would probably rework new runes to be similar to old ones while keeping the same visual theme. But even that seems extremely unlikely and unnecessary. I would suggest saying "I want my old runes and masteries back!" rather than "We want our old runes and masteries back!" since the former is more accurate. Also bring a logical reason to do so, please. Thx :)

: I just don't get the level of pissed everyone gets about everything. I have to wait a little while? Whatever, I'll get some lunch. And why can't people who see injustice (not abuse or harassment, that's different, screaming about that is totally justified) express their concerns or point out things that are being systemically mishandled without turning it into a white male flaming session. Is there no one who can appreciate what they DO have at the same time they're working to gain what they don't? Stop bitching at everyone, stop pointing fingers, quit embracing victiamhood so damn hard. That goes for the 'i'm lucky enough to be at pax but had to wait a while, im so discriminated against' people as much as any other group. Start conversations, not arguments.

The reason people are pissed is because excluding males for certain portions of the con (resume reviews, skin design, etc.) is not okay. It’s not just being forced to wait a little while, some of the events are ONLY run before 2:30. Sexism is sexism whether it is against males or females. I can almost guarantee if the booth was only open to males people would be protesting with picket signs outside the booth. And dont get me started on non-binary fairy tale bullshit :,)

From 2:30 onward it's the Quiet Time and AMA. That's it. Males were not allowed in for the resume review, what it means to be a producer, and the QA roundtable discussion. I heard that it was streamed for everyone?

You can’t really stream a resume tho, same with QA. This isn’t the NA LCS, the stream isn’t really engaging for the streamer
: The first two events of room 613 will be only open to women and nonbinary folks.(there might be some exceptions. I will try and post on Twitter the sechedule everyday) However, all the activities of the room will be open to all after 3pm, including the "Ask a Rito" time. :D
Hmm, so basically it isn't discriminatory if it is against men instead of women, right? Sure I know yall are desperate to fix the major issues plaguing women in the company but this is not a valid excuse for something like this at all.

: How to buy 2018 NA LCS Summer Finals tickets
Can't wait to see the post titled "Update: Summer Finals Tickets" just like Spring Finals :)
: I don't see how fights in the viewer stands of a ball game relates at all. Your example of the Super Bowl power loss is close, but given that was also a city infrastructure problem, not quite the same. Your best counter was baseball, but a called game is uncommon and rain delays or continuations are more common. Furthermore, weather is beyond control and not an issue for an Esports problem like what happened where coding issues and server stability are all faults of Riot.
Server issues are bound to happen, bugs are unavoidable in literally any game. In this case, Karthus with smite and Taliyah with smite was uncommon until just recently, which is why the bug is just now being discovered. You cannot expect a game dev, even a very large company such as Riot, to be able to fix every single issue that the game has. As long as the game is constantly updated, bugs will constantly arise, and unforeseen events such as this will happen. Just because 1 game in over thousands across multiple years had the server crash and results in an AGV, that does not mean the whole rules have to be changed to accommodate this rare event. If this kind of problem happened every split then yes it would be quite bad, but that is exactly why Chronobreak exists, and besides Bo3 has its own problems and, if anything, would make it even more likely that these issues arise because more games are played. The way Riot handled this was the best they could: They made the fairest decision, was completely transparent with their process and reasoning, and found the source of the bug, then disabled the source to avoid the problem again until they could gather more information. tl;dr, Riot cannot foresee every bug that happens in the game, do not get all pissy because some things in coding and computer engineering are unavoidable. Riot did what they could, and it is not fair to them to say that Riot is completely at fault for what happened. Also the power can still get knocked out in the battle arena where they play, not just a problem for traditional sports (although I am yet to see any instances where that has actually happened.)

: I understand the game server crashed, but can you explain (here or in a technical blog) why the game data isn't running on one server and being copied to another during the match? This way if the server the game is being played on spontaneously combusts (or goes does to something more reasonable like harddrive malfunctioning), you could switch to the 2nd server and chronobreak to a reasonable time to resume play. I know in this case there was a high likelyhood of the problem reoccuring so it wouldn't have helped, but there is the chance of this being needed in the future.
Thats exactly what Chronobreak does, and they stated how they could not Chronobreak it. Here is the article with more details about Chronobreak: https://www.lolesports.com/en_US/articles/deconstructing-chronobreak
: You still broke your own rules. Read your rule book again, no conditions were met. Rito fails again.
Quotation from 13.1 on Awarded Game Victory: "League Officials may, **but are not required to**, use any or all of the following criteria in the determination that one team cannot avoid defeat to a degree of reasonable certainty" They do not have to have those conditions met, they are just guidelines. : No team has lost when they had a gold lead as large as Echo Fox’ at thirty minutes; No team has lost when they had a 7 tower advantage; In 74 games where a team has had an advantage of at least 10,079 gold (Echo Fox's exact lead at the time of the crash), the team with the gold advantage has won every single time. So can we just have games fucking autoend at 30 minutes if one team is 10k ahead? Idiots that wont FF get old.
Fair point, but remember this is just on patch 8.11 in the pro scene, not nearly large enough of a sample size to say for certain that the game should just auto-end when one team has a massive advantage over another. Comebacks are still possible, it's just in this case they had to award the victory to FOX because the game crashed, not because teams wanted to ff.
: What’s next for Clash?
Im honestly quite interested to learn about some of the tech and code that resulted in the bug that caused clash to cancel. Would it be possible for some kind of article with more details to be written about it?

: Does the venue sell food? Or will there be other options..
Pretty sure food is available, considering the venue mentions alcohol sales as well as other statements regarding food in previous posts
: Sorry this didn't get called out above, working on getting that fixed. Doors will be opening 3 hours before the start of the event (1:00pm EDT), so you can start lining up then!
nealyk (NA)
: It says line up early to get a picture with you're favorite team but it doesn't say when they will start allowing people to line up. When do doors open?
Would like to know as well, thats the main reason I have been waiting for the field guide.
: Update on 2018 NA LCS Spring Finals Tickets
Been exactly 1 month since his happened and no updates whatsoever... so much for “It will take a couple of days for us to figure out how to make it right.” Unless they are trying to finalize contract stuff for Summer Finals as the plan then I guess they don’t care anymore :/
: 2018 NA LCS Spring Playoffs Tickets
Lets hope this isnt as terrible as the Finals sales went... best of luck to those trying to get a ticket
: As a current Florida resident and League enthusiast, and someone who attended the summer finals in Boston, I have to say I am extremely disgusted by how this process has gone. I watched the video that first announced the lcs finals for spring 2018 and was so excited because I know there is a large player base in Florida. I was dumbfounded when it was stated that the event was going to be held at a venue only seating 2000. Some league fans in been Florida have been waiting forever for the chance to experience a League event on their doorstep and it should have been obvious that this would leave a lot of people without tickets that wanted them. As a company that always states: “we want to make as many people happy as possible” you might have well just done the opposite here. This was a showing of utter stupidity and something I am very displeased with, and honestly surprised by. The finals is meant to be an event for the fans, or else it would just be held in the regular studio in LA in my opinion. So why did you decide to randomly attempt to satisfy this niche for a large community you know would easily sell out at 2000 seats? It literally makes no sense to me, even having heard your reasoning for it. Not to mention how late the finals were actually announced. A little less than 3 months notice, and a poorly, scarcely advertised way of purchasing tickets, all in a very short window. FYI if you want summer to be a success it has better be announced well before the summer split even starts.
Can’t agree more. I was so excited to finally get a chance to go see the Spring Finals as a Florida resident but was extremely disappointed when I found out I had to settle for 3rd place tickets. I hope they have some sort of compensation for people that at least couldn’t get a ticket, but preferably also for people like me who were stuck with 3rd place match tickets instead of finals ones.
