There's some judgement about when you can afford to tank one or two rounds to get another body on the board. When direct upgrades may not be necessary in order to win the next round, etc.... Or maybe you've just been unlucky. The nature of the game is such, that this is possible.

: Ok, to be clear, the *guaranteed* minimum from a (random) champion shard is 90BE, which is what you get from disenchanting a shard for a 450BE cost champion. in order to figure out the *expected* (not "guaranteed") average, we'd need to take the BE from disenchanting each cost-tier with the number of champs in each cost-tier and do the math, which would look something like this: > (90\*14)+(270\*21)+(630\*25)+(960\*53)+(1260\*32) Which comes out to an expected average of about 785BE per token, with a distinct risk of getting less. So really, it comes down to "Guaranteed 1000BE for 100 tokens" *or* "somewhere between 180 and 2520 BE for 100 tokens".

You are mistaken. The guaranteed minimum from Random Champion Shard is 960. No cheap shards. No 90 BE shards. No 270 BE shards. No 630 BE shards. You can only receive 960 and above (and frequently it IS above). It's only higher tier shards from the Random Champion Shard. This is the same shard that used to be in the store before Runes Reforged, it's the same shard that is available every event, and it is the same shard that you can see in Project Store in your loot right now. It has ALWAYS (as long as I've been tracking anyway) been the preferred option for BE farming from events. But if you had LESS than 50 BE (or 100, or 75, whatever the Random Champion Shard was valued for that event), then you used the BE direct purchase to get a lesser rate. This is the first time that they offerred an option for 1k BE (an amount MORE than the shard), but the rate makes it always disadvantageous to purchase. It's a mistake, obviously. But probably many players also fell for it... This topic comes up from time-to-time (for example here: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/jQ7WE7GB-worlds-2018-missions-rp-and-tokens-the-math-revisited), when players express dismay at seeing that a Token is Valued at only 1 BE (which is a horrible value for your Event Pass, if you think of it THAT way. But that is the LOWEST exchange rate, and although events have different Token costs for these shards and BE, it's ALWAYS better to get the Random Champion Shard, if BE farming.) (Incidentally, as you can see, in that event 9 months ago, the Random Champion Shard was valued at 100 Tokens for last Worlds. the following events they were 75 Tokens, and now 50 Tokens. In previous event, exchange for a single Token was 10 BE... later 5 BE... now 1BE... the amount of missions and the length of the event seems to have something to do with it, but these are trends over the past 18 months that I've been paying attention.) (But we didn't seem to have passes for so many events annually, before. Every major event comes with a pass now...)

That's what I mean by ip ban. Not exactly. There ARE more sophisticated ways of banning users that involve IP, but are selective and also use other data. This is what sites like eBay use to identify bad sellers. (They use IP, but not JUST IP. Go into any cybercafe or public library and you will see many people happily selling on their eBay accounts without getting shutdown. It seems unlikely that no user of the public network ever had his account banned.) Riot does use similar measures, when the ban is financially motivated. Users who are locked out of their accounts for chargebacks find it much more difficult to circumvent. In general, Riot KNOWS which alternate accounts are being operated by the same user. If you deal with Riot CS and an error is caused by an alt account, they have no problem letting you know which other account of your is causing the problem. Allowing banned players to make new accounts is a policy decision. (Yes, it's always possible to circumvent even the most aggressive bans, at least for a while. There are thousands of people selling on eBay using "stealth" accounts. But the measures suffice to eliminate and deter the majority. Operating under stealth is a bit of a hassle, and you only need to make one mistake and then you'll have to start all over again.) (And people who have to operate under stealth are generally very careful to sell (or play) CLEAN.)

: To add onto this chat is meant to be used as a helpful communication tool, not as a place to flame others and get into chat wars at. The time one spends typing out insults and the like is time better spent actually playing/focusing on the game itself. For instance if you're dead you can use that time to communicate CDs, wards, enemy locations and the like as well as try to plan out strategies and game plans. Smart pings only do so much, and chat can help make up for those limitations. If one only wants to use the game as a means to abuse and harass others then I see no reason why they shouldn't be removed from it.

Again, you want to play with normal, slightly aggressive economy. Get as many on the board as you can to maximize synergies. Re-roll only a little, when you won't lose interest, or perhaps after another player has been eliminated. Just pick from the what comes up. I have photos of matches where I won 1st and did not equip a single item (you can see them all piled up on my bench). It's rare, but possible. If you're getting gold instead of items, then you want to win on bodies. Use that to get an early bank going. Save the re-rolling for the late game.

I don't think that anybody is saying that Poker and TFT are the same game. They just mean that the RNG in TFT is comparable to card games. They COULD make actual LoL poker...

Ztoka (NA)
: 75% RNG 25% Skill
Eh, what you call "skill" is really just knowing the rules of the game. The biggest "skill" is probably the first carousel. Strategy is not the same as skill, but there is so much RNG, that strategy can only be observed over scores of matches. I quit my first match after the second player round, and came in 5th. Somebody else quit after krugs and still won the game. The exact same setup could be replayed 10 ten times and give different results.

: Not sure how anyone can find this mode fun, it's RNG to an extreme
Poker is a pretty good comparison. So is backgammon. The RNG of TFT is comparable to card games and dice games. The skill of games like that is only present in looking at play over scores of matches. Like, the optimal movements for any game of backgammon are established. The real skill is judgement about using the betting cube over a series of games. Any one match of TFT is meaningless, but perhaps some judgement can be discerned over the results of scores of matches. Riot should give us some kind of a purse that loses (as well as gains). I guess that ranked play is supposed to take the place of the purse, in other such games. Incidentally, completely re-rolling after the first couple players drop out is legit. I've done it and won. It is indeed a gambling game, and it's readymade for gambling. You can enter with a party of 8 and bet amongst yourselves. I believe that is already being done.

I think that there might be... but that would imply that I have a match history somewhere... Where is my match history? How can they even consider a ranked mode without match history?
Srbonator (EUNE)
: This gamemode wasnt worth the hype
The game is very heavily RNG. take it for what it is. Comparable to card games and dice games. The "strategy" is just basically knowing how to play properly, the same as you need to know the established rules for playing blackjack properly, when to hit etc... Backgammon is another game with RNG comparable to TFT. It's difficult to imagine what a ranked achievement in this game could really signify. There is RNG even at work on the board after the bell sounds. The champions movements are RNG, and the exact same round, replayed several times, will give different results. Knowing this, should be a relief, and take away a lot of the pressure. The game is almost relaxing, and certainly much less demanding than LoL.
: . . . I can imagine it be a rage fest like any after game lobbies. Granted usually no one says anything and leaves right away... But arguments break out far more then pleasantries. But I don't play TFT so take what I say with a grain of salt.

It probably wouldn't be. TFT has like %1 of the rage and toxicity of LoL.
: TFT Post Game Chat
It should be there. A lot of postgame stuff is missing. It's only very basic now, because, I assume, beta. We should be able to see what items each champion had, for example.

Arcade Lulu (EUNE)
: Post full chat logs Most of the time you don't get banned for no reason So you must've said something that triggered the bot Also, send a ticket to riot support and ask them about it

M. A! - he said "nikmok".

They did have a rehabilitation program last summer, but they haven't disclosed the results. Depending on various factors, you might possibly succeed. It has happenned. But usually, the answer seems to be "no". Ask nicely. Bans are not overturned unless they were made in error. The only time it's happened otherwise is when the "unban experiments" were happening in NA and when someone shows a long history of reform but slipped up along the way. If OP didn't show a single sign of reform beforehand and just went from 14-day to perma, there's no point in even filing the support ticket.

It couldn't hurt, and a miracle could happen. However, yeah, even when that experiment was running, I think a 6-month waiting period was required. He said that he was banned over a year ago. So, that might constitute a reformatory period.
KHBAT (EUW)
: 14 days ban for talking with premade in another language
I mean... he said "nikmok" several times that I can see. That's bannable. I'd be surprised if the computer wasn't rigged to pick that up. The equivalent phrase in English is certainly reportable.
: I have been thinking. If I, for example, /mute all, and just play each game to its end. No int, nothing at all outside of my role, then I in theory shouldn't tilt. Just act like clockwork, and move onto the next match with nary a word. I think the main issue was the amount of matches I played in a single day, so if I just set about 5 matches a day my overall behavior should improve.

Not only that, but co-op and ARAM count towards honour progress. People seem to be much less likely to flame in these modes, so you might consider a course of a dozen or so of these... Another helpful option - play with premades. Hopefully your friends won't report you. If they're in a voice call with you, then you can just tell them what you think anyway. Playing with premades only, should be a nearly complete protection against running afoul of the penalty system.

: Better change their nane to something different of 'zero tolerance' then since they aren't Zero. And the fact that it is allowed to say it once without getting punished, say it twice doesn't make any sense. Both Times have the same value. And then people should stop spreading misinformation here too.

: Undo my perm ban? lol
If you were banned over a year ago, then you might try to make an appeal to RIot directly. They did have a rehabilitation program last summer, but they haven't disclosed the results. Depending on various factors, you might possibly succeed. It has happenned. But usually, the answer seems to be "no". Ask nicely.
: Higher level players should be held to significantly higher standards. Period.
The "prevent remake exploit" is, apparently, legit and within the rules of the game. It may seem unsportsmanlike, but there's a lot of unsportsmanlike stuff built into this game when you think about it. It's a pretty vicious game. The conflict is getting people to act like gentleman, while encouraging them to ruthlessly rip each other apart. And then punishing them for it. So, like, this game has its own rules and vocabulary.
