: Quick Gameplay Thoughts: May 24
Heyo, I've been thinking a lot about a starting item for mages botlane. Is there any place you would reccomend to get feedback on it? I know you guys want to try again and I have an idea that I really do think might have some sort of potential at least to be explored without being abused by solo lanes.
Meddler (NA)
: These days I get up whenever my daughter decides to wake up (newborn). Figured I'd just put the post up early as a result. Her waking up early was real convenient for MSI though must admit, even if I missed the first game. For anyone who hasn't watched the BO5 yet it's well worth a look.
What champion do you think she'll main when she's older?
: I don't think this is a replacement to a VGU, just something to tide Malphite over while other champions take their turn with a major update first.
If I recall correctly they don't really plan to give him a VGU cause he's popular in China.

: Quick Gameplay Thoughts: May 3
It's been a bit, nice to see these back. Can you give some context for the Manamune/Muramana buff? Specifically why it was just raised by 10 AD and nothing else. Did you guys want to specifically help Ezreal only out since he's the only one who buys the item regularly or were you hoping it would be enough to make it viable on other champions?
: Very sure her jnvincibility is 1 second shorter
It's still 2 to 3 seconds but she has a 2 second animation so at max rank she only gets one second to fight while untouchable.
Meddler (NA)
: The true damage won't get multiplied by Hurricane or Rageblade no.
Can you let us in on her ranged attack range? It looks kinda short but I can't tell if that's just the set up or if it's because the waves reach past your target.
: Can someone tell me why Malphite has never been a priority in terms of rework ?
: Gonna be honest, Middle East needs servers more then you guys.
I think it was talked about why the ME won't get a server either. Part of it was the geography and how mountainous it is and part of it was the very intense culture in some places.
: New Conqueror bother me a bit...
The thing about mages is that it only has a 3 second duration. What mages are you worried about? Because aside from Karthus, Swain, and maybe a small handful of others it will run off before they can stack it full and start leaching health.

Three AP bruiser items and then say Deathcap and something else. Then what? I don't really see the problem tho? It's exactly the same as with AD champs. Like, you can't have too high base stats on ad assassin or they just build a bruiser build instead. If you apply your reasoning to ad champions too, that would mean that AD assassins are already tuned around lethalithy and ad vs bruiser builds, so Riot have already failed there? Is ap tuning different from ad tuning in this regard?
They are different though because you can get way more AP than AD, so scalings have to be different.

And if they aren't melee only burst mages and battle mages like Anivia or Vlad could end up getting them and being way too tanky with too much damage. Well, you didn't read my whole post then. I asked about fizz and ekko and explained that maybe there are ways to prevent this exact scenario, like changing their base dmg vs ap ratios and stuff. And right now steraks and titanic is only for melee so you could do the same for the ap bruiser items so Anivia and Vladimir can abuse it. Maybe there are other reasons that make it harder to implement ap items then ad, but the arguments you presents seems to be pretty easy to solve if they use the same rules they use for ad bruiser items.
The issue with tuning Fizz and Ekko is that if the items makes them too tanky you have to nerf their base stats. But then you balanced them around a few items and if those items get nerfed then the tuned champions become terrible. Even if the ratios were higher and base lower, they could build like juggernauts. : _Hi Meddler! Are there any plans or thoughts about adding AP bruiser/divers items into the game? _ For me, the addition of Sylas made it obvious that there isn't a lot of good options for champions like {{champion:517}} , {{champion:82}} , {{champion:131}} , {{champion:68}} and maybe {{champion:27}} . AD brusiers/divers have access to {{item:3078}} , {{item:3071}} , {{item:3161}} , {{item:3053}} , {{item:3748}} and other items. I think these champions would be helped a lot by having acess to AP versions of these items. Right now it is as if AD champions only had access to assassin items and tank items and that would feel pretty bad. Is it because you are afraid that champions like ekko or fizz could abuse it or is there other reasons? What about then changing base ap and and ap scaling ratios for those potential abusers? Would be interesting to hear yours and Riots stand on this.
The issue with items that you listed being made for AP bruisers is champions like Fizz and Ekko will use them and end up pretty tanky with good damage. And if they aren't melee only burst mages and battle mages like Anivia or Vlad could end up getting them and being way too tanky with too much damage.
: Have you guys considered making AP bruiser/fighter items? Now that Sylas is out and Mordekaiser's VGU is around the corner, I think it would make the most sense to make them soon. Phroxzon mentioned exploration way back here: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/developer-corner/8iZVJvTA-preseason-development-update-1?comment=00000002
What stats would an AP bruiser want? How do you stop burst mages from taking them and being too tanky? How do you stop Ekko and Fizz from taking them and being too tanky?

: Nah he will build now Statikk shiv more likely.
Both pro builds and OP.GG lists PD as the item he takes. He also has about a 52% win rate and is getting nerfed next patch. He might end up making PD ranged only if I had to guess.

As of right now it looks like Yas is performing very well with it so he will likely be nerfed as he is not the intended user. As such it doesn't matter why Runaans is ranged only, that isn't the topic. The topic is that PD will not be made melee only, it's not gonna happen.

If Xerath gets to about 500 or 600 AP one Q will half health most ADC's

Garen weaknesses. Cooldowns, melee, no strong gap closer, kite able depending on champion. Strengths: Built in resistances, dmg resistance, tenacity, slow removal, speed boost, armor shred, silence, execute, moderate to high sustain.

Most melee save for Trynd and Yas wouldn't even want it. Who wants 25% crit, some attack speed, and no AD?
: New phantom dancer.
Honestly it might end up being ranged only. Melee champions already have Steraks and they share a named passive meaning they don't stack, the stronger one will proc and the weaker one will just not do anything.
: Why do tank stats feel so bad to build?
A long time ago Riot removed some HP from tank items in place of more resistances so that rushing say two armor items and getting MR boots would not be so strong since you had so much health less resistances of one kind wasn't that big a weakness. The issue is since then they buffed resistances to compensate, but also added a lot more true damage into the game via champion kits, Conq, and buffs to champions like Vayne. In the end this means that tanks have less health and more resistances while non tanks generally got more true damage which benefits from less health more resistances.
: Guinsoo's RageBlade need to be either removed or Phantom hit to cease to exist.
After they lowered Kogs R damage in place of the execute and W dmg in total I don't know if he would really function without it. He was on the rework list a while back but when it was mentioned recently he was not on the high priority list anymore.
: best I could find atm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2bu4jbVhaY over 3 years ago for a strategy that existed for only like a month her E is absolutely an execute: the more damage YOU have done to your opponent, the more damage this ability deals withering her might work now, but back then, she would just jump away and unless you burned flash, you'd never get to her mobile champions might have been a problem, but kalista is rather interesting, being one of the few marksmen to scale with attack speed instead of crit, so her build paths are a bit more flexible
One Pawnce video is not "it was meta." Show me actual stats if you want to pull that card. Her E does damage based on spears yes, but if you put one spear in someone that is low it doesn't just execute them. It is based on time spent attacking, not missing health. Back then great, it was also like 4 years ago and as you said lasted a month so who cares. Kalista is barely playable anymore.
: Finally some opinions on the unfair nerf for my main the vastayan charmer. You've been nerfing his base stats all past year and 9.2 too, even if he still was weak enough already. {{sticker:slayer-jinx-unamused}} Decided not to play him anymore until he's not back to a good state. Literally unplayable in soloq, stop killing champions due to pro play because otherwise that will end up killing the game.
You mean what happened to other champions? Kalista is still barely playable.
Ataraxas (NA)
: ??? Jungle is NOT in an ok state. You nerfed the exp way too hard, revert it. Powerfarming **barely keeps you on par with solo laners.** If you're giving up early game influence for late game power you should come out with a level or two ahead, not barely on par. That's bs.
Except that junglers can snowball a game very easily and if you play a gank heavy jungler you should fall behind. You have enough early game pressure to gank level 2 on some champions and near instantly decide some lanes, that warrants not also being a carry.
: I've been meaning to ask, is it possible for {{item:3046}}'s shield strength to be dropped in favor of higher attack speed? While the movement speed and ghosting are ultimately core aspects of the item imo, the lifeline shield seems really out of place to me and its shift into a defensive item with a massive shield seems like a polar opposite swing from what the item was originally, which was a powerful pick for DPS, and after its first change back in 5.22, a dueling tool. While a shift in power for {{item:3087}} may make this item more desirable should PD prove to be subpar in cases where the shield isn't needed (or potentially wanted in cases of champions like {{champion:41}} or {{champion:157}} that use {{item:3053}} and/or {{item:3156}}), this could cause a side effect of Shiv either becoming extremely overbearing again due to providing a strong mix of burst and DPS, or, in {{champion:157}}'s case in particular, vaporizing minion waves and preventing him from using them for mobility. It also seems like the sheer size of Phantom Dancer's shield is going to make the item feel awful to play against, which may get the item nerfed into a state where it's not really desirable at all (Unlike current Phantom Dancer, which has a stable niche and still sees use outside of {{champion:157}} and {{champion:23}} on occasion)
Ever since PD got the damage reduction added to it it was used as a defensive item for the survival and type it gives. I think losing some attack speed is fine if it means I don't die instantly later in the game.
: reminder that this is back in season 5) all you had to do was hold shift and then click? if you're in the standard typing position, it's one of the easiest keys to use. In other words, the same pace as you can click, you can shift click. Seriously, you forget her Rend on E, which does increasing damage based upon the number of spears she has lodged in the enemy and can scale infinitely? picking nasus into kalista...I don't even know where to start when he can't get in range for anything but 1 Q when he flashes... I just told the person below that she was a very oppressive pick that required jungler assistance to take down...
I started playing in season 4 and never saw her top. I use the shift click set up made even easier using attack move on click bound to my n key, it is slower than doing it normally past a certain attack speed. Her E is not an execute. An execute does more damage the lower their health. Her E does more damage the more spears are in, those are not the same thing. I know where to start, you take wither level 2 and you make her flash then do it again after you heal up. And ADC's are not tanky enough to survive being tower dived by a jungler or even just a tanky top laner. You also have yet to show me any proof to your claims she was an OP top pick.
: New Ideas for AP Bruiser Items
The issue with AP Bruiser items is what stops Fizz and Ekko from taking them and just going into similar old tank builds? Let's take your items for just a second. Hourglass gives, what, 50 armor? Add on GUC and Fizz now has 90 armor and 130 AP. Get Morellos and Pen boots, and a Banshees and Deathcap and suddenly you hurt like crazy but you also are fairly tanky for an assassin. Similar deal with Ekko.
: > [{quoted}](name=Corrector1,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=jZaHAQ7j,comment-id=00050000000000010000000000000000,timestamp=2019-01-29T21:32:31.421+0000) > > actually there are few melee who can beat her (excluding assassins). jax/sylas/riven/xin basically any hard diver or fighter that has a slow or stun cc into it. yes, a few. not most of them. most of them just get shit on by her. like {{champion:18}} how do you fight these champions if you cant burst them? they have more range, theyre more mobile, they demolish you from range with their items. it doesnt matter that they deal like 10% less damage, if you never get into position to fight them. if they want marksmen to be more resilient, fine. then take away their damage. no more carrying games, but they survive easy.
How do you counter ADC's? You pick off their support first. If you catch out their Lulu Janna Soraka whatever support, suddenly nobody else is likely gonna save the ADC and you kill them. That's how the game works. But people seem to want to ignore the fact that ADC's are hard to kill because shocker they are meant to have two champions worth of power invested in them, their own and the short defending them. Pick the support off and the carry us helpless. Or do you think Tristana can 1v1 Syndra just putting down three Q's and pressing R?
: They can downvote you but they can't downvote the truth.
They hated him because he spoke the truth. I hate Pyke's grey health myself but I know it can't be as bad as OP is saying.

Honeslty her biggest counter in my experience as an ADC player is AOE dmg such as Anivia R and other shit that has a good sized area and can just find her even in stealth. A lot of ADC's are squishy to the point that any AOE will chunk them bad and so you need spells that can find her in her Q. Anivia does well, Vel, Veigar, Lux if you land the E can land Q since E slows and does a lot, Zyra does well since Vmher plants auto target if the spell lands I think. Vayne is annoying but in my opinion her Q is bigger than her W. It's a slow cooldown huge AD steroid mobility spell. I remember a long time ago people cried about her W but she could crit and kill you with two Qs before her W even popped.
Moody P (NA)
: Singed or Volibear probably Both would need flash to make anything happen but Darius can catch most ranged top with his hook
Darius pull is 535, Quinn and Teemo have 525 and 500 respectively. If he does it right he can slam both of them. As well Darius in low elo only seems to lose to Kled in my experience and that is because Kled in low elo is equally dumb because of how much base health he has (hint highest in the game because two health bars.)
: Yeah there are a lot of possible issues, but it is something they are supposedly working on making some so I was just curious if they had an update. I think Sylas, Diana, Mordekaiser, Shyvana, and a few more could be much healthier and fit their gameplay fantasy if they could actually build they way their kit wants to be built.
And I agree, I just don't want to go back to a time where even with items as an ADC mages just naturally have nearly 3k HP and enough burst to kill me while I have to chew through a lot of health even with my damage. And if they are bruiser items they probably have some sort of resistances in them so it's probably nearly 3k HP plus defenses and burst.
: kalista actually had problems that she could dominate the top lane any time she can function practically. In addition, a good portion of her difficulty evaporates if you bind the attack move key to something like shift, so all you have to do is click where you want her to go for her to attack and move
I have never heard her being played in a solo lane at all ever for one. Two using shift click is slower than manually clicking every time and that is a proven fact so no you can't just do that unless you want to take the nerf to animation canceling autos. And your comments about her having an execute are also wrong, she doesn't have an execute in her kit. Finally taking Kalista top is stupid as fuck because even if she kites out the few immobile tops like Mord some champions hard counter her naturally. If they pick Kalista top you pick Nasus and auto win. His wither destroys her and he wants a farm lane. Not to mention she is easy to gank for any CC heavy jungler that just needs to touch her for her to be fucked.
: So since the Marksman items are about to get updated are we going to see some AP Bruiser items implemented or are AP Bruisers still going to have to build super ineffective builds and mainly going full AP outside of Singed? I know that at least one of the Rioters that was working on the Marksman items was also working on AP Bruiser items as a "back burner" project. So is there any update on it?
I think the issue they had is that then burst mages would pick them up and end up very tanky while still doing a lot of damage. The then if you make them melee only you have shit similar to tank Ekko or tank Fizz who will nuke you while being very durable. So how do you make AP bruiser items that won't be abused?
: which means next to nothing because professional league is a completely different game from League of Legends 5 players with voice headsets, the best equipment money can buy, training regiments, opposition strategy analysts and breakdowns oh, and for fun, shall we mention that they get PAID A TON for it?
Then why was Kalista and Azir gutted when they were super hard to play?

: I've got a pretty strong opinion about ashe. (feel free to look at my matches and winrates to correlate, but the fact that she doesn't actually crit, and needs bork to put her where she's at, is pretty annoying. I only pick her into teams where I can't get jumped on, and where we need just a little more cc, but the team comp has plenty of dmg already. I feel that she's really weak. Playing against a super high dmg champ like lucian, she has absolutely no chance unless she has at least a 700 gold lead worth of items, and is at least matched in lvl's, even then though, it's a toss up, as she has no mobility to re-position. I feel like one of two things need to happen. one, she gets a movementspeed buff for applying slows to enemy champions, or two, her kit actually lets her crit.
This is a year old.

Any news on Skarner? I've been playing him a lot more recently and he still feels really dumb with his passive.
: I think many of us would like to see Sol completely overhauled. Of course, there are a vocal minority of die-hard Sol players who are adamant that nothing about Sol must be changed, and they will probably downvote this post, but the truth is, Sol's kit is fundamentally awkward and boring, with limited options, little interactivity, and no ability to make flashy plays. Circling an enemy while your stars repetitively bump into them is just not an exciting way to score a take down. It's a shame because Sol is visually and thematically one of the most appealing champs in the game. I only wish his gameplay reflected the fantasy of controlling a celestial god-dragon rather than a hula-hoop dancer.
Die hard Sol player here, I hope he gets a full rework because man he is so polarizing and I hate how squishy he is due to item changes in the past. He's one of the only battle mages without a heal or shield in his kit.

Ahri and Zoe are not Assassin's.
I can see where Ahri would be similar to an assassin since she has a lot of mobility paired with moderate burst power, but I agree she is more of a kite mage/soft battle mage
Dr Dog (NA)
: we need more tanks like sion
Soon and Cho are both fairly good tanks because they have AOE hard CC that isn't reliable. Sion can be dodged and interrupted and Cho has a really long cast time and a circle rather than a long and somewhat wide box. They both also have some nice utility, Cho has a silence and Sion has a slow/armor reduction. And finally they both have some guaranteed power, Sion in his shield/dmg and stacking health, Cho with his enhanced autos and R/stacking health. Tanks need to have more powerful but situational/avoidable hard CC. Things like Maokai Q and Poppy E are good examples I think because Mao needs to get closer to use it rather than just poking and Poppy needs terrain to make it really stick. The issue is some champions end up too reliable. I love Maokai but his W into Q is super reliable which would be more fair if he didn't heal so much, his mana costs can make W Q spam taxing in a long fight. Malphite, Amumu, Voli, and other tanks need stronger but harder to hit CC.

What I hate about that is everyone acted like that wasn't the first time ever you had a full marksman meta like that. We've had tanks and assassins and mages and even enchanters as the meta where you'll have 2 or 3 of them on team. But the one time we had 4 ADCs on a team people lost their shit, and it wasn't for super long.
