Hey all, you guys are doing great recently.- I have a small suggestion about the new Varus W- would it be possible to make it so that it would be able to be activated while he has a Q charging? Not thinking you'll need the extra damage and charging a Q for poke and then having a teammate knock an enemy's health into W killing range feels really bad when you already locked yourself into a base Q. Does that make sense? I don't know if I worded my suggestion great, but I hope you know what I mean. You could update the tooltip even- "Varus can cast Blighted Quiver while channeling a Piercing Arrow." If anything, this would even add skill expression to Varus- it could encourage charging a Q to max power waiting for W to come back online, and hitting W *right* before your arrow expires and let it fly. Yes? It would be very helpful, especially since both abilities have moderate cooldowns (especially his W) and watching someone walk away alive because you weren't able to activate W feels super gross. What do you think? {{champion:110}} {{champion:110}} {{champion:110}} {{champion:110}}

: Should League get an emotionless Champion with little personality?
Vel’Koz is described as “cold, emotionless.” He cares for little outside of research and progress. He doesn’t feel the need to be very expressive although he is capable of it. Does he fit the archetype you’re describing?

: Dear Plats who got demoted to silver
I don’t get toxic plat players. If you really are plat you could solo carry silvers ez. Toxicity is so pointless- why would you INTENTIONALLY TRY and make a conscious effort into affecting the performance of your team? Just /mute all and carry. Toxicity blows

: I have to give Riot genuine props.
This. It's true- anyone will admit that clarity and visualization come across remarkably well, despite having so many unique characters and deign goals. League really is special in that department. This even extends beyond gameplay- look at the splash arts, cinematic, world building. There is so much to manage and so much to establish- but somehow, everything feels unique, clear and awesome. I don't know how they do it with so much to manage but damn- this kind of thing isn't done nearly as well in any other game, at least in any game I've played.
: @Riot DyQuill Answers On Varus? What are your plans?
Why? I’ll tell you all why That frickin SONG. Keep the lore idgaf it’s all bout that chorus “AS WE FAAAAAAALL” damn that gives me chills In all sincerity, it was worth wrecking the character. I play that shit on the way to class. Best song ever
: Yup I'm Bronze and need help
You mention your mouse is shit. Fix that. In fact, fix your whole setup- you’d be surprised how much difference a good rig makes. You don’t need anything fancy, but get a responsive mouse and keyboard, and get a computer that doesn’t overheat, dc, and can hold a consistent frame rate. I can’t speak about Riven or top lane or learning the game first or anything. BUT- if you want to escape bronze without dedicating much time you will do this: -Main mid. Easiest role to carry with in low elo -Play something easy that can take over a game. That means easy assassins OR safe mages -Roam like a motherfucker -Pressure towers -Control wards to track the enemy jg That’s it. Really. In bronze people just don’t know how to deal with smart play. Kill your laner, push the wave, and take towers. That’s all you need. I recommend Vlad or Wukong mid and just roll with it.

: I wish there was a way to skip to Gold, Silver matchmaking is awful
It's true that if you really were better than Silver, you'd be out of Silver. I had the same problem, but the problem is the attitude. You will find that, yes, one person can truly carry a game in Silver. If you pick smart champs and learn what to prioritize and learn to ignore/stop playing around teammates, you will find that it is possible to climb out of Silver. HOWEVER, I agree that Silver is probably the hardest ELO to climb in if you're an average skill player. Think of it this way- In Bronze, everyone is trash. Seriously. Anyone can roll into a Bronze game krunk out of their mind and with their monitor off and still 1v9. Stomping is easy regardless of feeders, trolls, etc. In Gold, you can finally start looking at your teammates as cavemen instead of monkeys- still not great, but impressionable and have a basic understanding of what's happening. Gold is the place where people start to think "Hey, I'm actually not horrible at this." If you truly are good, then after showing your teammates that you are mechanically inclined, they will follow your calls more, play off you more, and generally rage less. If you can make Gold, you can make Plat. Plat sucks. If you hate ragers than just quit when you hit Plat V. In Silver, I agree. While it is true that for anyone above average skill it is a cakewalk, matchmaking makes it generally harder to climb than in Gold. You have people who are still new who just finished their placements, to players in Plat who just got re-placed, to Bronze players who got lucky and Gold players who went on a losing streak. It is a huge mixing pot of skill, so it often feels very one sided. It is absolutely true that it is harder to climb here- I find that a lot of success comes down to attitude. So, TL;DR if you're still in Silver, you probably belong in Silver. You can have super amazing mechanics but if your attitude sucks you won't go anywhere. My advice is to take your skills and learn how to just take over a game regardless of teammates. Change that perspective around, find a one-trick, and good luck.

: >Wukong main here. Honestly? Wukong is in a fine spot. how can u be a Wu main and say so much bs in one f*cking post ??? >Wukong is a god tier mid laner. WAKE UP PEOPLE. Dmg Wukong mid is his most viable role. He loses definitively hard in a small handful of lanes- everything else, he can outplay. He has one of the strongest early games of all mids. He reaches powerspikes very quickly. He has terrifying roaming capability and can quickly take over a game, and with W he is a lot more safe than you'd think. lmao
Sorry- I should have specified that this is true in low elo. In low elo he is a god and helps newer players learn the game while also being able to have a certain amount of player expression. In higher elo there are a few one tricks but honestly I don't think Riot wants to touch him. He's just too good for newer players and is seeing play all the way to masters.
: Why can't you give Wukong the Ekko and Jinx treatment?
Wukong main here. Honestly? Wukong is in a fine spot. Thing is, people are focused on how Wukong USED to be played. You can be upset that the character hasn't held up to his creative vision, but I mean damn Morde and Ziggs ADC were meta for a while, so that argument never really holds up. The game changes and evolves- champs find viability where they fit- you just have to find it. Here's my opinion on Wukong's kit- it is ageless. Yeah, honestly it holds up. Aside from his passive, his kit really isn't that bad. It is simple at first- but the skill floor is low. The ceiling? Infinite. Q shred, E dashing jukes to minions and through walls,, double-tapping R for a knockup before stealthing away, W JUKES W JUKES W JUKES W JUKES W JUKES. Wukong can do a lot, whether he's a distraction zooming around getting in your face or just an assassin insta killing someone. He can splitpush, teamfight, be built a variety of ways- even when he's behind, he has his ult to be impactful. Honestly, there is a lot people can do as him, and he is seeing play as high as master tier right now. His kit is old, but the way it's designed makes it have many possibilities that don't appear in the tooltips. Yeah, Wukong loses to every top laner. You can't bring him there and expect to carry right now. Jungling, honestly can go either way. You will get camped by the enemy jg in quite a few matchups, but as a niche pick he can hold his own, and can get fed pretty reliably. Early is hard but if you can keep tabs on the enemy he is a fine pick, and one of the only jg assassins with reliable teamfight utility. Really, anyone who can push you in hard while also harassing you safely are the only lanes where he loses (Think Syndra, Ahri Q and Lissandra Q W- certain mages are the only ones that can win against a Wukong). Trust me guys, his kit is not as in bad shape as you think. He is viable mid, sometimes jg until Masters at least. He has massive outplay potential and you can find tricks in his kit that go beyond his moves's simple appearance. He needs a new VO to compliment his new lore if anything. Wukong doesn't really need to be touched. He is BALANCED, which is the idea. When bruiser/durable diver, he loses a lot of matchups. When assassin, he out dmgs everyone but is squishy as balls. He is flexible, but can be exploited. He is strong when played optimally. That is exactly what you want lol
: Its 2018 Riot. It's time we had a talk about Wukong.
Wukong main here- I honestly don’t really know what the goal is here. Outside of having an old ass model and underdeveloped VO he is fine. He had (IMO) one of the best lore updates last year, so I don’t see any problems on the creative front. And gameplay? He is in an awesome spot. You can talk about skill expression all you want, fact is, across all games and all genres, some characters are more simple than others. That’s just the way it is. You don’t see Garen players griping that they want more outplay potential on their meathead character- the character was designed a certain way and it’s the communities obligation to accept artistic vision. And as simple function as Wukong’s kit is, there is definitely room for skill expression. The order of ability usage is one (starting with Q to shred armour so E is more powerful, “double tapping” R for the knock up and then stealthing away, etc.) juking with W has limitless capabilities, juking around and Eing through wall or to minions- he has tricks man. “BUT HE’S SUPPOSED TO BE A DIVER #%]^%]*]+]*]^]+?” Yeah, well, Corki is “supposed” to be an adc. Literally look at the past flexible placements in league- ADC Morde and Ziggs for example. The game changes. The meta shifts, items ebb and flow, new strategies become viable- champions find usage in roles that they are viable in. And right now, Wukong is viable as an assassin. “BUT THIS IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF ARTISTIC CREATIVE VISION. HE WAS DESIGNED TO PLAY LIKE THIS XYZ” Wukong has a dash, a stealth, burst- sounds like he feels natural as an assassin. In his lore, he wants to be a warrior- he the best- he gon fight. Who’s to say he ain’t gon fight as an assassin? Honestly, he’s in a good spot and is seeing usage through one-tricks as high as master right now. Wukong is fine. Add a few more pixels to his model and he is in a fantastic spot.

: Varus Splash Art Update
@Riot- Are you going to update his in game model to remove his locket and/or idle animations? They sort of shit on all the new narrative you're building. Lots of people would like to see them removed (not complaining, just a very jarring narrative oversight)! Awesome splash art :D keep up the good work!

: Patch Chat with the Playtest Team - 7.24
Hey guys- Super good stuff happening, I'm really enjoying the pre season and think you're all doing great as far as communicating and providing information goes. Not really a pressing question, but what are your thoughts on Wukong? More specifically, his roles? I am a Wukong one trick and this pre season I am almost exclusively playing him mid lane. In top lane, tanks with sustain currently are favored over fighters, so it makes it too hard for Wukong to get anything going, and in the jungle, his clear is too slow and mana dependent to keep up with current meta junglers early. However, in mid lane... His high damage and electrocute make him have arguably the strongest early trades in the game, provided he can clone out safely. Control mages are abysmal matchups, but with his clone it is possible to outplay pretty much all of them. He can all-in very early, get some kills, and pretty much take over the map. Add in a utility ultimate that makes him useful even when behind, and I think you've got a great pick! I guess my question is, do you think he is being played optimally when top lane or jungle? Does Wukong mid make more sense? I think he is extremely balanced and has a lot of potential, especially for a champ with a kit as old as his. Keep up the good work!

: Vastaya are made of and deeply connected to natural magic. It's probably easy for most of them to tap into it and perform small magical feats.

: Thanks for the kind words, Korneo! :) I personally think Aurelion Sol is not as bad as a lot of players perceive. Glacial Augment is his best keystone - the slow field that GLP generates because of it is really powerful for setting up fights and Future's Market lets Aurelion hit his item breakpoints a lot earlier than he normally can. I usually go Glacial Augment, Biscuits, Future's Market, Approach Velocity, Celerity, and Scorch. Maybe with the buffs to Phase Rush it will be better on him, but I'm not sure it will really move the needle. Aurelion Sol is a scary champion to buff a lot because of how insane his experienced winrate is compared to his general winrate. Despite dropping to a sub 50% winrate all around, dedicated players still maintain a 60% winrate on him. Long term, Aurelion needs far more work done than just numbers tuning to fix some of his problems. I've talked about this in more detail in other posts. I can try to find them if you're interested!

: Patch Chat with the Playtest Team - 7.23
Hey guys, just want to say that the playtest team is doing an awesome job. Thanks for communicating with us. :) While I'm here, what are you guys thinking about Aurelion Sol? For one of the champions in League that took some of the most time and had one of the longest development cycles, he is pretty neglected ATM. His current buffs on PBE do not fix his new maneuverability problems and even his small but dedicated player base is seeing WR drop as much as 5%. What do you guys think has to happen with him/Phase Rush, or do you think in reality he is in a good spot?
: Aurelion Sol and his current state
Not to mention the celerity nerf. Why is that happening?

: What's the best thing you can do when you feed?
You'll hate to hear it, but now you've created a situation in which you HAVE to rely on your team. In this situation, you are officially the b!t*h of the team now- you have to figure out what you can do to maintain yourself and also make your other teammate's jobs easier. Buy a bunch of wards and switch to sweeping lens- sweep wards, provide vision, make pings etc. Play around your stronger members- act as bait if you need (because if you're already behind players will greed for kda and go for you), eat abilities for your teammates, protect and peel for whoever is strong etc. Depending on your champ, you may be able to make something happen to catch up, but if you're 0/4 in LANE, you have to make everyone's job easier and play around them- you are no longer relevant (unless you have hard CC or can splitpush or something).

: He's big, but he's not planet big. Did you read the story involving him and Pantheon? That gives a pretty good sense of scale.
I just gave it a re-read. It's a bit more clear- I suppose he doesn't fluctuate in size as I hypothesized but he is definitely a big boy. Not a very important question, but thanks for clarity!
: Star Guardian Ezreal expected sale date?
The absolute earliest the skin can be made available on sale is sometime in the middle of February, since new skins can't go on a discount price until at least 6 months after release.
