The Whispering Doodad was hilarious and conveyed so much character through little things, so I'm voting for it! Echoes was also good; I really loved how the end raised that question of, "How would Kalista have been released? What would it look like if she was?" and "What does this mean for the rest of the Shadow Isles residents?"
: On League of Legends, we have worked with contract writers a tiny bit in the past. A lot of the skins in the Star Guardian Jinx/Elementalist Lux era were done by contractors. But in general, we found we got better results in house. The process at Riot is very collaborative, that's the nice way to put it (there are a lot of conversations, and pivots large and small, that writing needs to capture). Thermal Kitten ended up moving to skins to be their writer, and now, we all pledge allegiance to Carnival Knights, SkiptomyLuo, and Riot Pls. As the Universe platform ramps up, there may be more opportunities for prose (non-game) writing from contractors. I have less visibility there though!

: A rioter actually clarified that the reason for all the ascended looking like animals was that the ascension ritual transforms your body according to your own world view and Shurima merely happened to have a lot of animal symbolism in their culture, hence why people turn into animal hybrids. So for example the golden bird might represent leadership, which is why Azir turned into one. And to be honest, this sounds like Ascended and Aspects might be not even different beings, its just that one group is from a country with a lot of animal motifs, while the other group is from a place with a lot of astrological concepts. That is to say, let's say hypothetically that the Sun, as a SYMBOL, means "order" in Targonian culture, while in Shuriman culture, a Leopard represent "order". But the "symbol" of the Sun is different than the literal Sun, and is also different than the entity that is the Aspect of the Sun. Aspects are actual beings, with minds. Human beings who become "Aspects" are becoming vessels for those minds. Azir isn't taking on the mind of a "Hawk" deity from space, he just … turned into a hawk. Leona is likely very personally attached to the symbolism of the Sun, but it's not like the Aspect of the Sun would become the Aspect of the Lizard if Leona happened to from another culture beforehand. For example, "The Protector" is a Targonain constellation, so Taric likely didn't recognize it before climbing the Mountain, because he's Demacian. So it's not like the Aspect took the form of something from *his* culture; the Aspect exists on its own, separate from any worldly cultures. The animals in Shuriman Ascended do not exist outside of Shurima.

Did it always do that? Yeah, the animation of the W flips when it changes direction, so it often will suddenly "jump" to a different position when it starts coming back.
: Feedback is always good, no matter the feedback. Yes, sometimes it can be devastating to have something you worked for tirelessly for days and nights be crushed by the community. However, it's something that all creators know, whether they are a Rioter, a youtuber, an artist, a music composer, a plant, someone will always say something bad of your work. On the other hand, if the community doesn't like a product then that means there is a flaw within Riot's design process, **NOT WITH THE ARTISTS THEMSELVES.** The artists themselves go above and beyond to provide content for the game and I'm most grateful for them and respect their work. However, in GGMF example, I'm pretty sure that people were that mad, not because of the quality of the skin but with the price. So if anything the marketing department should be to blame. Back-end developers, we love you, but when something is wrong/bad, then obviously there's gonna be negative feedback thrown back at you. It's not something personal, but currently we can safely say that this game has nurtured us. It's been 10 years. If there's something bad, we gonna shout. <3 So, good luck on Stellari with her new project, she provided some amazing content for the game and she will be missed.

As an artist myself, no, this is just flatout wrong lol. "It's bad" is feedback, and is also an entirely useless, unactionable statement. I'd go as far as to say the vast majority of unsolicited feedback I get is pretty worthless, both positive and negative.
Noraver (NA)
: So, I have to say I support both sides of this. 1. In the first case, I hardly believe quitting your job over feeling badly about a skin you've created is the right reaction. I believe the skin looks alright. Only seen it a few times, but it looks fine. To work in the gaming industry, you need thick skin. People are going to give you feedback constantly. That's how these games work. If you can't handle it, then despite being able to design nice things like skins, etc., perhaps this isn't the job for you. 2. The new Aatrox skin has been widely received as bad because it A) Looks too similar to his previous skin B) It's a theme that doesn't really fit him Not only does it look incredibly similar to his Justicar skin, but it looks plain awkward. Almost like Aatrox is running around in spandex. The justicar skin was a nice alter-ego skin, but the Victorious skin took it one step too far. I would've personally gone for a new them entirely this year, and used Aatrox as an example to start a new "Victorious" line; One where they could make him look bruised, beaten, damaged, but came out "Victorious" in the end. But I digress. The game design industry is an environment where you're going to get feedback 24/7, whether you like it or not. Developers should be glad they have players giving them feedback every day; they should be looking forward to it and treat it all as a learning experience, whether it's good or bad. Hell, I work in IT, and I get feedback all the time from users. It's a good thing. On the other hand, it should never go as far as insulting the person themselves. I mean, yeah, some people are exhausted with some of the devs for creating brokenly OP champions or items, and they get insulted (Called stupid, etc), which comes from frustration of playing a competitive game against these things. But skins? They're entirely cosmetic, added purely for the addition of fun. There never needs to be insults thrown at a designer because they've designed an "ugly" skin, especially when they may not have any say in it. They could be given a "Hey, make this champion a skin in this theme line!" instruction, and that's all they get, we don't know. Give feedback, even if it's bad. Just be kind about it.
> [{quoted}](name=Noraver,realm=NA,application-id=6kFXY1kR,discussion-id=q5xurkIR,comment-id=0001,timestamp=2019-11-25T18:28:49.497+0000) > To work in the gaming industry, you need thick skin. If you can't handle it, then despite being able to design nice things like skins, etc., perhaps this isn't the job for you. I feel like you must very much not know Stellari if you are actually implying she doesn't have "thick skin". Her being upset about it was never about her being personally attacked anyway, you are misunderstanding; she was (is) extremely passionate about delivering good products, and felt remorse over disappointing people. It has nothing to do with being insulted or getting harsh criticism, it was about the fact that she let people down and wanted to make it up to them.

: Unless I'm mistaken, Yuumi becomes untargetable the moment she uses W. In which case, what ever CC is being used to keep her in there fails to prevent her escape. Normally, she'd be knocked back in when she becomes targetable again (I believe Tahm Kench's devour works this way), but that doesn't work if she stays attached to an ally (and therefore untargetable) for the ult duration. The thing to test here would be to have Yuumi W while affected by another grounded effect (Cass has one if I recall). If she can't W in that scenario, it's a bug with Camille's ult interaction. If she can W, then it's a case of W not being considered a movement skill (and therefore may be intended). Disclaimer: I haven't played Yuumi or Camille, and barely see them when I do play. : What are your biggest fears regarding your favourite champions/regions' future?
I'm not worried about how {{champion:99}} {{champion:163}} will be handled; both already have strong directions and have been handled quite well. The only issue I could have is Lux getting paired off with Ezreal, when I think it's funnier (and potentially more appropriate for BOTH of them) if she just keeps brushing him off, with him eventually letting go of his crush as he, himself, grows up. With Taliyah, my only wish is that we get stories of her travels, not JUST what's happening in Shurima RIGHT NOW, but seeing more of Shurima would be totally fine, regardless. The only Champion I'm a little worried about it {{champion:61}} . I really hope they do her justice, and let her blossom as her own person. I'm mainly worried about her character being entirely tied in with Viktor/Camille/Blitzcrank and the like. By all means, have her meet them and influence that story, but I want continuation of some aspects of her character beyond just the "she's a robot" part. Her interest in ballet, her miniatures, her kindness, her dreams to travel around the world! I wanna see some of THOSE aspects of her character get developed.

Why the fuck you care for diversity when you can literally chose the role that fits your playstyle? Okay, which role lets me build damage AND a sightstone? Because vision is the main reason I play support. By this logic, why play Kindred ever? If you wanna be a DPS, go bot. Obviously, jungle and bottom are significantly different roles that transcend a Champion's kit, that's why. If I only cared about the kit alone, I'd play Morgana mid, but I prefer the Support role over mid.

Flashy playmaker crying in boredom at the idea of afk healing their carry for 35 minutes? Hello Rakan Talon main gets autofilled to support? Welcome Pyke Marksman main gets assigned support? They created a support with the lowest possible skill floor while I imagine they were trying to make an enchanter viable for Pro Play, but many Rioters would likely agree that Yuumi's design is currently questionable and needs some refining to really deliver on what she was meant to be.

Statistically speaking, I don't think Yuumi has the lowest possible skill floor when it takes like 60 games just to approach a 50% winrate on her, meanwhile a lot of first-time Sonas get there immediately. As simple as she is, her weirdness (by which I mean her entire play pattern, not being attached itself) definitely keeps people from succeeding with her.

And every single one of Nami's abilities help deal damage, even if she is considered an enchanter support. Even if she wasn't designed for damage, she still has a lot in her kit. So what else am I supposed to assume from that?

Even if she wasn't designed for damage, she still has a lot in her kit. So what else am I supposed to assume from that? No, my point is that Nami *IS* designed to do damage, but her damage scaling absolutely sucks; she's not designed to be a consistent damage threat any time besides laning phase, and before Pyke she was the *only* Champion deliberately designed for the Support role with damage in mind, and that was way back in 2013. The rest were all Champions who already existed accidentally getting pushed into the role, which sucked (and continues to suck) for everyone involved. But in general, I think Pyke and Senna are fine as anomalies rather than the norm. Variety is fun.

No, you misunderstand. The reason the meta shifted is because of players who ONLY see damage as the reliable metric. I'm not saying supports can't do damage. I'm saying that the focus of newer support champions has been damage over utility. Pyke is just an example of that.

Tomoe Gozen (EUNE)
: Everyone likes to do damage. I don't like to sit in the back and literally change the diapers of Marksmen who want to go full aggro without their heads attached. That being said, i prefer Zilean myself than Pyke but to each his own. People saying that Pyke doesn't belong in the bot lane is a really narrow-minded opinion of what supports used to be years ago. And i am glad that everyone's getting variety. People who want to play nanny Soraka can still do that while i can play a something that fits my vision of what supports should be able to do. I agree with you on this. I play Enchanters, but I'm excited for more diversity in EVERY role. Pyke doing loads of damage is hardly an issue to me; if I get pulled by Blitzcrank it doesn't matter that he's a tank and not an assassin, I'm freaking dead. In lane, the two have pretty much the same outcome, and out of lane getting caught out by Pyke is no different than any other assassin, so I don't see the issue unless ALL assassins are inherently bad mid-late game. Senna's Recommended items also give her {{item:3114}} items, so I'm excited to play her using those, anyway.
: Can we have more stuff in BE Emporium?
I hope for more BE-exclusive skins in the future! Just like I hope for more Honor-exclusive skins, as well (I REALLY hope they don't just release infinite chromas of the same two skins). These are cool systems to reward players for their dedication to the game, but they are incredibly limited in scope. Off the top of my head, on top of random icons/emotes, I hope they add random emotes for BE, and (assuming they launch as intended), Eternals as well. Would rather not pay for those lol. Would also like to see "infinite" Gemstones; don't know why it's capped at 3--heck, keep upping the price forever, for all I care, but I feel like they should be AVAILABLE for BE at least.
: They focus on skins that make them the most money. I'm sorry if whatever ugly niche champion you like to play has only had 3 skins for 9 years but that is because people don't buy them. You think Mark Merrill gonna be able to afford a new Maserati with Ivern skins?
> [{quoted}](name=Mr Dalloway,realm=NA,application-id=yrc23zHg,discussion-id=ctTQYfVa,comment-id=0008,timestamp=2019-10-30T01:30:17.331+0000) > > They focus on skins that make them the most money. I'm sorry if whatever ugly niche champion you like to play has only had 3 skins for 9 years but that is because people don't buy them. You think Mark Merrill gonna be able to afford a new Maserati with Ivern skins? Don't know why this is downvoted; it's true. Does anyone think artists don't wanna make a million skins for Kindred, Ornn, Taliyah? They're ripe for the picking, but they aren't made because they won't make money. The decision is entirely motivated by profit, and excluding all the "ONLY POPULAR CHAMPS GET SKINS" rhetoric, this has been explicit for years now. Artists are the ones who make the skins, but product managers are the ones who decide who GETS a skin--and beyond that, you gotta please shareholders and the higher ups by constantly making more money. I'm certain the actual designers aren't thrilled about that (not to say they HATE designing for popular champs, but they probably feel inspired by less popular ones as well).
: funny how this thread went from "this legendary isn't actually legendary" to "i got a legendary skin for a champ i don't like" by the 2nd page of comments. that said it's really not something worth being bothered about imo.

Ultimately I don't care much (I wouldn't use most Legendary skins anyway, since I don't play most of those champs, and if I did they feel like skins a "main" would use, you know?), I'm not disappointed in my gift. But I have felt for awhile now that these skins shouldn't be classified as Legendary anymore.

: Dear Riot, please consider recategorizing your older skins (aka, old Legendaries).
Honestly, make them Epic skins already. They upped a bunch in tier (Arcade Sona used to be 975), so why not lower these ones? They're Legacy anyway; it's not like you'll be losing money on them or anything. And who is gonna buy those are 1820, anyway?
: 10 Years of Riot Music
Music is my FAVORITE THING (irl singer/songwriter) so everything about this has be SO STOKED. Looking forward to the music that is yet to come, as well. Elementalist Lux and Taliyah are my favorite songs so ... it looks like I've started a vinyl collection, nifty!
: Have you guys stopped doing login screens/themes? Are they being replaced by something, or are those resources being redirected to Arcane maybe? Let me know if this was answered elsewhere
They no longer do log-in screens (and music) because of the updated Launcher, which allows you to enter the client without logging in (therefore, a large percent of the playerbase will never see those screens anymore). Champions still receive musical themes, and where applicable they try to put them on interesting videos (like Pantheon's development vid), but otherwise they're just posted on YouTube with the Champion's splash art (Qiyana, Mordekaiser et al). As far as I'm aware, they don't seem to be doing music for Events/Skins anymore, though. I'm sad we won't get any more animated art on League Displays. :(
: Because vinyl gained a collectible value and has been hyped up to "sound better, warmer", whatever "warm" is supposed to mean in terms of audio (it's not unwarranted, many records have a different, more audiophile-oriented master and mix for the vinyl edition). The big packaging of vinyl also looks better on your shelf than a jewel case or digipak. (I'm also tempted to blame some of vinyl's resurgence on stereotypical hipsters, but there's legit reasons why people choose vinyl.)
>The big packaging of vinyl also looks better on your shelf than a jewel case or digipak. I but CDs specifically because of the packaging, though. So much artwork goes totally unused in the vinyl (& cassette) releases of various albums, because they just have less surface area, relative to dimensions.
: Pentakill when? 🙄
Both of Pentakill's albums are already available officially on various platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, YouTube, Soundcloud, and Google Play. You can also download Grasp of the Undying for free from the Pentakill minisite: https://pentakill.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/
: "Championship Ryze is a skin that shouldn't be available through Hextech Crafting." That honestly sounds like a load of hoo-hah if you ask me. Regardless if it's a new skin, all other previous championship skins (except the Classic Championship Riven) can be aqquired via Hextech Crafting. Plus if it's not supposed to be in Hextech like the Support implies, then you shouldn't have gotten it to begin with. They should have just given the Skin Shard back and while I believe that the Masterwork chest was given in good faith, I think it's wrong that they took the skin shard away from you at all. Plus the fact that the client gave you that particular emote after all that is just insult to injury.

New skins ARE available through crafting once they're in the shop; whoever it was was probably mistaken.

Please keep releasing new ones!! I really like these so far, but I want one that I LOVE
: TFT - 9.22 Set 2 PBE Change Log & Update
The herald and Dragon changes are giving me LIFE, thank you! It's so annoying being stuck with one component by that point, or not having as many choices as to what I can build because everything is already combined.
