: > The difference here is that this is RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG. Randomly spawning a random fruit in a random section of the jungle. There's so much random going on that when it works in your favor you feel cheated. That's not the way the system works. Plants have a fixed set of pre-determined spawn locations. These spawn locations don't overlap. You'll never have a spot where oranges *or* a satchel could spawn for example. The RNG here is in the of this set of possible orange locations, where did oranges / vision / satchel spawn in this time interval. The time interval has some slight variance (because no one knows their exact time that they were last popped) - but it's not the triple RNG layer that you're describing.
> These spawn locations don't overlap. In the post you describe that satchel plants can spawn behind dragon/baron pit. And then the video example of scryer's bloom is behind dragon pit. As the ace attorneys might say, the evidence contradicts your testimony.

: We have some of our own ideas on how to "break the meta" that coalesces around each mode, but are interested in hearing from you guys too. The most frequent suggestions I see include: -- More bans -- Perma-ban X champs -- Make random champ select Any others?
Draft pick!! I'm dying for draft pick URF especially, but I think it should be considered for any mode you pick your champs. A chance to mitigate what you're up against instead of rolling a die to see whose OP counters whose is so helpful. The side effect of mirror matches being disallowed enforces a higher minimum variety each game, and mirror matches are largely unpleasant for the game in general anyway. It's very hard to deal with a snowballed mirror champ, and the "why aren't you as good as their team's X" business is never pleasant.

: I would agree that there is frustration in his laning phase. A lot of this nerf and previous nerfs have been around hitting his laning while still allowing him to do Zed things(kill people when he presses R). I do believe there are some real gains here around the Q poke and I would argue that dismissing this change for anything past silver ELO would be a mistake. I would be very surprised if this came across as a buff in any ELO. As for going harder I can't really say anything satisfying here. I'm dying for a timeline with all this "a long time ago" lore! Especially now that Amumu has joined the hella **hella** old crowd along with Aurelion, Mordekaiser and the mythic types. We've got so many things in the nebulous far past now, it would mean a lot to me to know how they relate - Aurelion's enslavement, Mordekaiser's original reign, the founding of Demacia (and other countries, but this one we specifically heard about with Poppy), the cursing of the Blessed Isles, the original Freljord sisters, Amumu's life, Gnar's original time, the Rune Wars if those are still a thing, Nasus and Renekton's ascension, Azir's ascension/Shurima's fall, ahhhhhhhhhhhh. Maybe Zilean could tell us when he gets his lore updated, ay? Hint hint nudge nudge. While I'm here, can we solve the ambiguously Yordle Amumu business? I would much rather he not be a Yordle and know it vs making it a mystery with no stakes just to pay homage to his old lore. It's fine if people in-universe don't know. It's less fine for us not to.
: Hey patmax17! Just wanted to update and expand on this explanation a bit. We did have this discussion internally regarding the naming conventions of Neon Strike v. Super Galaxy. We also brought this discussion up again once we heard player feedback around the subject. And now, the verdict - **we won't be adjusting the names**. Here's why - We don't deny that these lines are similar, because they are! If we compared them and where they may live in the League of Legends universe, they would certainly be living in the same galaxy/space. Originally, as many players mentioned TTGL was an inspiration for Vi initially. We wanted to expand on the line, and in doing so, we expanded the inspirations that we used to create the new skins - we grabbed new inspiration specifically from mechy/shonan anime. > two similar themes in one patch, but that just happened with Mecha Sion and the two Program skins so, brainfart I guess). Side note on this. This was actually intentional. We usually try to give legendary skins a unique name - Mecha Zero Sion v. Mecha Kha'Zix. Like Neon Strike and Super Galaxy, Mecha and Program would also likely exist together. Program is in a similar vein, but the shape language and particle language is much different from Mecha, which is why we differentiated them a bit. In regards to the theme as a whole, we're still talkin' robots! :D

We can talk about it! Aw man...this makes me feel like Vi missed her true calling. The skin line is super sweet, but I agree they seem to match Neon Strike better than Super Galaxy. On the other hand, I understand that the machine/TTGL theme is kind of out of room (due to a lack of SUITable champs and the Mecha line eating some of the possible design space) so I don't mind it being broadened. It does leave poor Vi sort of orphaned though...is renaming her skin a possibility?

: Elemental Dragons: What we're doing and why
All comps are not created equal for contesting dragon, and this worries me a lot. Have a splitpush comp? Too bad the teamfight comp on the other team bullied you out of two air dragons and now gets to out-rotate you for free! Good thing LCS is going to a best-of format if this much is going to be up to chance...
: Heyo, Remember, it's still a chance based system for key drops. As long as it's a matchmade game, and you win, you have a chance to pick up a key. If the current rates are working as intended, maybe they should be re-evaluated. The number of people questioning why they're not getting any at all (rather than simply less) is something of a warning flag... I know in my experience so far, it feels like the rate is on less of a curve and more of a cliff - I didn't get a single fragment between my 9th and the month reset.
: > Personally i don' t think they are "visible" enough. Sometimes i do not even get that a champion is on a chroma, mostly if it is an enemy. I can agree with that. As I've mentioned above, I think some champions are better suited for chromas. For example, Nami and Lucian I feel are solid candidates for chromas - they stand out pretty well. Currently, we only have the chromas pack name in the loading screen, but perhaps considering more flair could make it a bit more apparent, and would be a better way to show off your chromas. > But i know in my little that is not that easy given what you said; that particles can' t be changed in colour at will, doing so merely skips a part of the design process if i guessed right? Right, chromas are simply texture changes, so they don't go through the full development process, but creating a chromas pack for every champion by the end of the year, for example, would bottleneck for for our 3D modelers. > Plus the whole pricing stuff that might not be up to players desire. Chromas are meant to be alternative choices for players who just want a champion or skin in a different color, and they don't feel the need to purchase something with bells and whistles. It's also why we have higher tier skins with all kinds of stuff in them - some players really enjoy it. That's why we have all sorts of price tiers that contain all kinds of content - our player base is pretty diverse in the kinds of content they like, both in terms of what goes into a skin, but also the thematic overall.
I've said it before, but I think chromas would be helped by an individual purchase option. If I were to buy a chroma, my thought process is more likely to be "ooo I like **that** color" than "I just want some options". I do like them as an idea though, so I hope more get made at some point either way.

: You have an interesting perception of "can work". By that rubric, Brand is a jungler right now. I definitely don't think it's a bad thing; from the perspective of a jungler, it feels great to have a lot of interesting options to try out. On the other hand, I think it **is** a concern when one role starts dominating a bunch of different lanes. : > it feels weird that the grand majority of new champions work in the jungle from day one lately Last 9 releases: Jhin (doesn't work well in the jungle) Illaoi (doesn't work well in the jungle) Kindred (intended jungler) Tahm Kench (can work in the jungle) Ekko (can work in the jungle) Bard (doesn't work well in the jungle) Rek'Sai (intended jungler) Kalista (doesn't work well in the jungle) Azir (doesn't work well in the jungle) Not sure I agree with your assessment here. Aurelion Sol CAN work in the jungle, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
For one, I put Jhin at a "can work" level. I don't like it much personally, but if not bullied, it survives with machete lifesteal and has interesting long range impact. It seems like a lot to me coming at it from any sort of "recent" perspective. For a clean break, let's say since the beginning of 2015 (which leaves out Rek'sai and leaves in Bard), 71% of champs are at least jungle-capable. There's also updates like Poppy, Shen, Graves and Quinn who are all at least reasonably effective in that role, though the VGU crowd is admittedly more varied depending on what level of update you draw the line at. Anyway, I would agree with it not necessarily being a bad thing, but it gives me a weird anxiety. I don't want champions that are fun and healthy in lane being nerfed across the board because of abusing an unintended playstyle. It hasn't happened drastically with jungle for a while, but I'd just rather it was addressed ahead of time instead of risking the secondary role overtaking the original and requiring everything to be nerfed as a result. For example with Aurelion, I'd rather he was released with his passive dealing 50/whatever% damage to monsters than risking a situation two patches from now where him jungling is too popular and too strong. Historically in such a case, the lane version (which may or may not be balanced on its own) has suffered from collateral hits from the nerf bat while trying preserve both playstyles at some level of effectiveness rather than focusing on just one playstyle being more balanced. TL;DR I'd rather have a really cool mid dragon than an ok mid-or-jungle dragon.
: Patch Chat with Playtest - Comet Dragon
Speaking of our dear star dragon - what ever happened to limiting champs' damage to monsters? I'm a jungle player, and I'll happily jungle him, but it feels weird that the grand majority of new champions work in the jungle from day one lately.
: New Champ Select Update
Thanks for the communication. I'm sure there will be some frustration, but no matter what, it's good of you to update us rather than not. On the topic of position balance, have you explored incentives for low-popularity/fill positions? Something like a small IP bonus or better loot drop odds. As things have snowballed into the current unbalance, I feel like a relatively small push could reverse the drift toward a more balanced state. But then that's based on a purely mathematical/ideal world which I realize we don't actually live in. Anyway, I'm sure it's an idea that's been raised internally, so would you mind sharing your current thoughts about why it may or may not be helpful to queue balance?
: Welcome to the Aurelion Sol Q&A!
From a balance standpoint - are you ok with him being played in the jungle, or can we expect him to be restrained in that direction? A surprising number of champions that come out lately are playable in jungle (4 out of the last 5, Illaoi being the odd one out). Being a jungle main myself, it may seem like a strange thing to complain about, but in a weird way, it's starting to feel less special. Kindred being created with jungle in mind turned out really cool imo, but Jhin, Tahm and Ekko just kinda happen to work. Besides that, I always like to ask in champ Q&As - did any crazy and/or funny glitches happen during development? And were there any particularly unusual skills considered for him along the way? I don't know how well it'll apply here with the extended development and an already very distinctive kit, but you never know! Thanks for all your hard work, and I'm very much looking forward to playing him no matter where he lands.

: Jhin's Color Text. Q&A thread.
Can't say enough how fantastic Jhin is overall, and this piece in particular. Everything from his login music to the flair in his animations is so fantastic and cohesive and compelling and absolutely perfectly disturbing. I think I speak for everyone here in saying we can't wait to see more from him. While I'm here, I'd like to toss a headcanon by you and see if I picked up on something - given the description of his bullets each being perfect, I got the sense that his signature fourth shot (in either of Whisper's forms) may not even be a special bullet, but rather an expression of his compulsions through his magic itself as he channels the weapon. Perhaps it even first happened unintentionally, though I'm sure he would embrace the theatrics of it. I don't know if it's all that meaningful of a distinction, but the idea of something mental and normally subtle like that having consequences on a person's use of magic is fascinating to me.

: I'll try to oraganize my responses to match your questions for clarity's sake: Q1.) "Do you expect changes to Rumble that could make him more viable for top lane, or do you think Riot is going to "abandon" classic lane Rumble in favour of Rumble in the jungle?" A1.) While it's not my team's decision when choosing to 'force' Rumble into a lane or jungle position, I expect that his jungle role will continue to find success since the changes to Rumble in 6.4 were net buffs. The changes also don't affect why people are choosing Rumble jungle vs Rumble top (it's still safer and more effective to have your Rumble go jungle instead of top into bad matchups), so I expect he'll be a little better at both top and jungle roles. Q2.) "Rumble could need a buff on his W and maybe his basic attack damage to compensate the danger he is exposed when he tries to lasthit minions (imho). Do you agree on that?" Last hitting with Rumble has been awkward since he was released. His attack frame can feel clunky and slow and it's very difficult to last hit with Flamespitter (even after tick rate buff). The E change in this 6.4 patch was in part to help with Rumble's last hitting, but I wouldn't be averse to finding more ways to ease player pain for last hitting as Rumble- although adding more damage/tankiness to his kit is a scary proposition considering how it might effect his jungle role. Q3.) "Do you guys from the Playtest Team actually have a real impact on Riot's decisionmaking? How do you interact with your colleagues from other teams?" A3.) In short, yes- we have a real impact. Although we don't have the final say in whether or not changes are shipped, we're constantly fighting to add player value and looking to ways to help designers realize their goals while also meeting player needs/expectations and keeping a lookout for things that might cause player pain. Although anecdotal, I think our interactions with colleagues from other teams is positive! As playtest we're always working to improve our relationships with designers and build trust between our team and others across Rito.
Quick thing on the topic of Rumble - could you look into the W sometimes locking out his autoattack? I've been noticing it happening in the jungle lately. I'm not sure if it's intended, but it seems to maybe only happen if you move after casting? All I know for sure it's that it doesn't happen all the time, so it doesn't seem intended, and that it's a bit of a bummer when it does, especially during overheat. On the off chance it's relevant, I've only been using the Super Galaxy skin because it's the absolute best skin in the game.

: I was always a big fan of the cyborg cowboy from the first piece of concept art that I saw of it. In regard to tying him into Ionia it wasn't really a _need_ but more of an opportunity. Through Jhin we get to see a new side of Ionia. We see not only a darker aspect to their society (with him being released to kill again) but also show the fact that Ionia has different weapons and styles of fighting than things like the ninjas or the more mystical fighters. Jhin's an entirely different side of Ionia, and I think his existence actually gives more depth and insight into that society.
What would his lore tie-in have been like for the cyborg version?

Tangential question, but can we get some interactions with Garen/Kat that don't involve their rumored forbidden love or at least slow up on those? If they were revealing more information, that'd be one thing, but it's been the same "you've got a cruuush" idea from several recent champs. In some cases, they arguably have little or no reason to comment on it at all - Tahm makes sense in-character, but it's unclear why Illaoi would know or care about their situation. In any case, at this point I think we get the picture, y'know? I know they don't have a ton of backstory to work with, but there must be something else going on in their lives...right? If nothing else, they both have very interesting sisters!

It'd be nice to pass on skins I know friends would appreciate more than me. If not gifting, perhaps trading at the shard level?

Yet just minor love taps. Swain/Malz/Karthus have a LOT of weaknesses and yet were nerfed. Some really hard (Swain). Why is there such major disconnect between these nerfs/non-nerfs? We nerfed Rageblade and may nerf it again, but I think we wanted to see Jax with fair Rageblade before we started whacking him too (we made that mistake in the past - refer to Sejuani/Cinderhulk double nerfs, for example).
Speaking of those double nerfs...is poor Sej ever going to get some love? She's still in the sad state she was during that double nerf period. Since that's recognized as an issue, could someone spare some time to give her a look? The last comment I remember about her balance was [you in October](http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/riot-official/cBUqHAm5-data-and-champion-balance-part-2?comment=00020001), which was...less than heartening. I miss playing with her incredible poro rider skin without feeling like I'm holding my team back :(

: [INTRO] Jo “Fearless” Graylock - Lead Designer, Gameplay Systems
1 - Some of my favorite design stories are about the stuff we never get to see. Were there any preseason mastery or item ideas that got axed along the way but created insane or funny moments in testing? 2 - You mentioned a lot of little changes can be mysterious or obscure - is there anything already live that you feel is unnoticed or underappreciated so far? 3 - I picked up FTL recently, and I'm excited to give it a crack since I've just 1001%ed Binding of Isaac. Any tips going in? Finally, thanks for all your hard work! This will be my 4th season with League, and it's already been my favorite start. I'm sure things will settle into a groove over time as usual, but the game feels more well-rounded and varied than ever (Yasuo/Trynd for the first half-patch notwithstanding).

: Preseason Q&A
After some initial trials, I really don't understand refillable potion in the jungle. In my experience so far, anyone that wants to consistently buy potions to sustain for the jungle will struggle **heavily** on the initial camps if they take refillable and barely make enough gold to either upgrade it or grab the other jungle item before having to recall. This feels super bad because of how much recalling delays you (in both gold and xp) for very small gain. As well, going the immediate potion upgrade route delays your jungle item and the very important bonus xp from the second half. (Side note - I've been feeling very underleveled in the jungle so far in the preseason even when avoiding the refillable.) Three health potions give significantly more total health, and get most champs that I've tried to the point where they can sustain decently off the second tier item's passives anyway. So that's my context anyway. I really like the items conceptually, but they just don't seem to work on anyone without near-crippling drawbacks. Is there something about them that I'm doing wrong or not understanding? What is the intended clear pattern for refillable potion users? You mention that buffs are planned - can you give more details there?

: [DEV BLOG] Vision in the 2016 Season
Really looking forward to the new vision next system and especially seeing how many (preferably useful) blue wards I can manage to keep up simultaneously. Couple questions though: 1 - In the past, it was mentioned that level scaling could allow for masteries or item effect that give a boost to your effective level for item purposes which sounded really cool. It doesn't seem to be on the current pbe masteries though. Is that something you'd still like to consider, or did you try it and it didn't end up working, or something else? On a semi-related note - level 30 URF trinket hype! 2 - What led to the pink ward trinket option being removed? Was it specifically problematic or just fit less well with this iteration of vision?

: Q&A about Dynamic Queues and new Champ Select
I'm super stoked about this new experience, but if I can go down a rabbit trail for a second, I'm wondering about the future of team ranked. My friends and I have tried it off and on for 3 seasons now, and it has not been a great experience. We don't get a lot of play time, and it often feels like a toss up whether we play against appropriately matched opponents or a monstrous team that far outclass us, which ends up causing us to dejectedly fall back to normal queue. Logically I understand that team ranking is independent from individual ranking and everyone has to place or climb through our rank, but it's really not an awesome experience to be the losers in some other team's training montage. From what I've read, playing solo queue (sidebar: is there a more appropriate name for that now?) as a five-man group sounds vastly more enjoyable for our situation due to how matchmaking will work. And I'm truthfully stoked to hear that alternative will be available to us soon if team ranked stays the same way. But that brings us to my questions - **will** team ranked be staying the same? If so, is it a system you would like to address later or are you happy with how it stands? Will there still be ranked team-exclusive season rewards in 2016 or will the new dynamic group system provide an alternate route to earn rewards for group play?

What's the reasoning behind standard wards dropping to 2.5 minute duration?

: The Preseasoning Day 2: Open Forum [VISION / STARTING ITEMS / RIFT HERALD / ETC]
Talk to me some more about the refillable potions and their predicted use cases. Mostly from a jungle perspective here, I'm not sure how to interpret the hunter's potion. With the removal of Ranger's Trailblazer, is this expected to be mandatory on non-sustain junglers or optional to ensure you can gank at high health or what's the intent? Is it expected to be bought before 2nd tier item, between 2nd and 3rd, after 3rd? In what situations should a person decide to put 400 gold into it (assuming you start with the basic version) instead of investing into a long sword/dagger/amp tome to increase clear speed (and by doing so, prevent some amount of damage taken to begin with)? I'm hoping getting some contextual info will relieve some paranoia. After giving us a streamlined alternative to sightstone (which is fantastic and appreciated btw), I'd just hate to see it immediately replaced by a very similar, albeit half as expensive, pseudo-jungling tax.
