: Worst patch ever?
Riot on the Veigar cage buff: "Despite Veigar's scaling nature, his contributions to teamfights struggle to keep pace with what's necessary in the late game, so we're buffing the ability that helps out the most in those situations." I guess losing 75-100% hp to his QW as a tank with a completed full tank build (including at least 2 MR items) isn't contributing enough. Its like they're not even playing the same game as us and we're not supposed to notice.
: Anyone else feel like the anniversary is going to make or break league for the next ten years?
The year is 2030. SKT has just won their 9th world championship. The highlight was SKT's full tank top laner's massive engage. "He was able to tank an entire 3 auto attacks! We have never seen someone in professional play live this long in the last 10 years." the casters exclaim. This bought SKT the 0.15 seconds needed to oneshot the enemy team. They didn't even have to use any ultimates or summoners. Games now last around 10 minutes. Every champion has multiple dashes, penetration, true dmg, a 3 hit passive, sustain, and % max hp dmg. Minions die instantly from any dmg source. Towers have a maximum of 10 shots, which do 50% max hp true dmg. Tower plates have been increased to 15, and each attack on a tower removes one. Riven has still not been nerfed. Kaisa has received her 3rd skin this month, for a total of 56. The gray screen has become so common that riot has released chromas for it, including the Star Guardian Prestige Edition Death Screen for $100. Eternals now shows the accumulated number of missed skillshots, chat restrictions, 14-day suspensions, and times "plz ff" was typed in chat. Little legends eggs have a % chance to become "scrambled", resulting in no Little Legend, but instead a consumable breakfast item that heals 5% max hp on Summoners Rift (Not usable on Azir, Anivia, Swain and Quinn)

: I wonder if they'd charge us for a working client
Just wait until they charge us for looking at our profile, match history, mastery points, and changing summoner icons.
: We made Eternals system instead of...
Balancing the game, fixing matchmaking, and looking at ranked progression MMR are pretty crucial to enjoying the game. Sadly, these things don't make Riot any money; they would be investing additional time and people into these projects without any way to "sell" the end result. Its the same reason they haven't fixed the garbage client for years. As long as people aren't leaving in massive droves or refusing to buy RP in a way that hits them hard financially, they couldn't care less, which is extremely frustrating.
: "Eternals" a new dirty way to win money.
The game is turning into lEAgue of Legends very quickly.
: Yay Riven Q cooldown buff revert....
The sad thing is, once you factor in that she rushes 40%/ 45% cdr every game and do the math, this nerf is even less impactful than it looks on paper. > Broken Wings (Q) cooldown changed from 12/11.5/11/10.5/10 to 12 at all ranks. 10s with 40% cdr = 6 second cd 12s with 40% cdr = 7.2 second cd 10s with 45% cdr = 5.5 second cd 12s with 45% cdr = 6.6 second cd What this means is that at max rank (the nerf's most impactful state) she loses basically ONE SECOND of Q uptime. This change is a joke.
: Kaisa hasn't gotten a sking in 38 days why are you ignoring her?
Meanwhile, Kindred, who is probably one of the best characters in terms of quotes, personality, and gameplay that fits her theme, has received 1 skin since her release in 2015.
: Twisted Treeline is a story of neglect
I have been playing since season 1. I have over 3000 games on TT and played it almost exclusively during season 8. I haven't played TT in the last 6 months or so, as I have been with a larger friend group, but am devastated to see the mode go. I have loved the game over the years and watched it grow worse and worse despite its incredible potential and passionately loyal fanbase who love the game and try to stick with it despite all their frustration. Riot has stated the following as their rationale for removing TT: > Outside of the player population, Twisted Treeline’s art, map design, and even game pacing don’t meet today’s current quality bar and player needs. We debated on whether an ARAM-esque level of support would bring it up to standard, but the lack of growth from the previous efforts we mentioned led us to the conclusion that it just wouldn’t be enough to make Treeline a healthy long-term mode. So at the end of this season, we will be retiring Twisted Treeline. Like Dominion before it, we’re sad to see a longtime part of the game disappear. But we feel this is the best decision for League, as it lets us keep our focus on our larger game modes. Since Riot clearly knows best, even when their fanbase screams otherwise, I have decided to apply their words to my own experiences. "Outside of the skins, LoL's dmg, favoritism, overloaded champions, and general game direction don't meet my current quality bar and player needs. I debated on whether outrage over seasons of patches would bring it up to standard, but the lack of growth from the previous efforts I mentioned led me to the conclusion that it just wouldn’t be enough to make LoL a healthy long-term game. So at the end of this season, I will be retiring League of Legends. Like Runescape before it, I'm sad to see a longtime part of my life and game disappear. But I feel this is the best decision for me, as it lets me keep my focus on better game developers."
: "So we can focus on our larger game modes"
Their thought process is insane. Imagine applying it to your own life. Its like if I didn't clean my house for years, letting it become disgusting and uninhabitable, and then acting surprised when no one wanted to visit. And rather than clean my house, even though it wasn't the greatest, bulldoze it and buy an new one entirely.

Rioter Comments
: Why is "fun had" not part of balancing the game?
Stats are definitely important. Quantitative information is necessary for balancing a game, especially for one as complex as LoL. But Riot seems to forget that for the gamer, the primary objective is to have FUN. Aside from good friends and champions whose stories/personalites/abilities we enjoy, improving our skills and outplaying our opponents is how we have fun. In order for this to work, we have to feel like our decisions and skill matters. I think the reason champs like {{champion:142}} {{champion:157}} {{champion:7}} {{champion:39}} {{champion:92}} {{champion:67}} and pre shroud nerf {{champion:84}} are so universally hated is because they lack (or feel like they lack) counterplay. When LB pops you in 1 second then disappears, Yasuo dashes 6 times in 2 seconds and Vayne's % max hp true dmg is impossible to itemize against, it feels helpless. These mechanics feel infuriating even if you are highly skilled and comfortable on your own champion. Even if these champions were nerfed to 50% winrate, I doubt many players would consider these mechanics fun to play against. I've been playing alot of {{champion:20}} lately and I think he is an example of amazing champion design. Whenever I fight against him, I feel that everything he does is not overbearingly oppressive and has counterplay to it, despite him being considered an S-Tier pick right now. Q --> Healing cut/ range W --> Dodging/ Hard CC/ Creating or standing behind terrain E ---> Range/ requires skillshot with minimal damage to be landed first R ---> Interruptable by hard CC When I don't dodge and get hit by a massive snowball I feel like I deserve it. On the other hand, interrupting his ult to save your team feels great. Steering his giant snowball through tricky paths can have skill expression at times, without being an overloaded or complex ability I don't understand the growing trend of deluded game companies arguing with consumers, trying to tell the consumer what they really want. No, Riot should not cave to everything we say. The number of times Riot and other game companies continue to not only ignore avid fans, but to view obvious majority discontent as inconsequential. You would think that by maximizing "fun" Riot would retain loyal fans that continue to spend money on their game instead of competitors.

{{champion:429}} : "Pull the laner, Blitzcronk!" {{champion:53}} : * pulls {{champion:3}}* {{champion:429}} : "WRONG LANEEEERRRRRRR!"
: Who do you even play against Darius/Poppy ?
Darius is definitely frustrating for obvious reasons and Poppy is strong but I wouldn't call her OP. She has a 48% win rate despite being a simple champion. Perhaps one of the reasons she seems so powerful is that damage is so high right now and she is one of the few champions that can tank a lot of damage (as tanks should). Courage of the colossus is another reason, and it is getting heavily nerfed shortly, which should make fighting Poppy easier and hopefully shift the toplane meta (yay!). I main Poppy (almost 200k mastery) and I have found the following matchups to be quite difficult. Melee counterpicks are strong 1v1 champs with sustain such as {{champion:122}} {{champion:82}} {{champion:420}} {{champion:48}} Ranged Champions who can kite her very easily include {{champion:10}} {{champion:133}} and perhaps {{champion:126}}. Although I have only seen it rarely, I'm sure Vayne top would also work fantastically. If you know what you are doing {{champion:114}} and {{champion:41}} are good options. Fiora can riposte her stun and if you hit many vitals, does not matter how tanky Poppy builds. Fiora becomes more of a threat the longer the game goes on so even if Poppy beats you in lane Fiora will eventually reach the point where she can 1v1 anyone. Poppy has practically no kill pressure on Gangplank. He can zone her with barrels and instantly remove her wall stun with oranges. This, combined with his passive movement speed means that she can basically never catch him out and he can continue to poke with barrels and Q. Even if she ults you away to save herself, Gangplank ult can finish her off. Hope this helps! Let me know what you think!
: Patch Chat with the Playtest Team - 7.1 Jungle Nerfs
Though I agree that Poppy was definitely in need of nerfs and the ultimate change was a great way to accomplish this do you have any concerns that the new shield duration is too short or should have been nerfed in an alternate way? I recognize that five seconds is likely one of the longer shields in the game but she cannot activate her shield at will like practically every other champion that has a shield. With the new duration, by the time Poppy picks it up and moves back into melee range the shield will have practically expired. Wouldn't it have been more reasonable to nerf her incredibly high damage for a tank such as her Q?

: Is Annie going to get toned down anytime soon?
> The only weakness she has is that she is immobile, Wrong. One of her biggest weaknesses is that she has short range. There are plenty of mid lane mages that (when played correctly) can poke her to death without Annie laying a finger on them. Play {{champion:134}} {{champion:101}} {{champion:99}} {{champion:161}} {{champion:25}}{{champion:7}} and make her life hell. Others have means of living through her burst and dealing good damage in return. {{champion:43}} {{champion:8}} {{champion:50}} {{champion:26}}. > but honestly, that's an advantage for her since she needs to be in range to deal damage. How is immobility an advantage? It makes her prone to ganks and easier to land skillshots on. Can you imagine how much worse it would be if she had some sort of built-in mobility? > she will out damage you and out CC you no matter what. Pure hyperbole. Syndra, Leblanc, Morgana, and Zilean are her biggest counters. Yes, she is a strong mid-laner. She has reliable cc and damage and is powerful in team fights. Tibbers can do a lot of work even on his own. But please stop acting as if she has no weaknesses and automatically beats any other midlane champ.

: Lol @ probably and compensate, I the riot favoritism too strong. When poppy was strong they gutted her. Similarly for the bear
I wouldn't call it favoritism for certain, though it could be. I think the issue facing Ekko is different than the one facing Poppy and Voli, which is more easily resolved. Poppy's power was a result of overtuned numbers (E and Passive range, Q damage) whereas Ekko's main issue is the tank build that results from the way his kit functions.
: Why does he need compensation, though?
Riot's goal is to reduce the power of Tank Ekko (who is insane) without gutting AP Ekko, who they have stated is healthier by comparison.
