Seems like it'd be the same for everyone.
: Yeah you need 25 games played before everyone is unlocked now. They give you the easier characters in the roster until then. Unlocking characters makes league a lot easier to pick up though, which adds to the appeal as a new player. DoTA just throws everything at you at once practically and it's a fairly intimidating amount of information to take in. The learning curve is incredibly steep. As a long time player it's pretty easy for me to say all the characters should be free because I understand what all of them do off the top of my head, but it's a lot easier for a new player just to keep track of what the free week champions do. It's simpler to learn that way and a lot less "what the hell how did he do that" Riot making runes free is a great step forward though, unlocking champions should be a lot faster now. Ideally it should take less than a full season to unlock the majority of the roster, but we'll get there I hope.

Yeah, DOTA definitely has a ridiculous and unnecessarily difficult learning curve, but i liked that if i wanted to try out Ancient Apparition, Outworld Devourer, or Legion Commender, i didn't have to grind for a month for IP to purchase them. I'm not sure that there needs to be grind gatekeeping; if a noob wants to try out Meepo in a normal game, why shouldn't he be able to?

But you seem to have limited yourself to a very niche genre. I suggest you try expanding your horizons to different styles. How many shows have you seen in total? Have you kept track? Is everything you watch that kind of dark flavor? I can give you a bunch of suggestions but I'll just copy my 10's, give a few of these a whirl and see if anything of the catch your interest. I have kept track. I have a word document with everything I plan to watch, and another with everything I finished, with a general opinion on each show. Not EVERYTHING I watch has a dark flavor, but I do admit I lean more that way than other ways. > A rule of mine though is you should give every show at least 5 episodes before you judge it, a lot of great shows (Bebop,Steins;Gate) don't "pick up" (which I think is a lame excuse to begin with if a show is a good even the slow episodes should be enjoyable) until they get a few episodes in but every one of these are either classics or have something that makes them stand out from the crowd. That's what I tell them. I tell them "You can't slap a 'trash' label on a 26 episode show in just ONE episode." They respond by saying "If a show's good, it should establish the characters, the story/motives, and give us a reason to like the main character(s) all in one episode". Needless to say...it's hard to impress them with these stipulation. Rest of it is off-topic, but I SHOULD try out a romance show at some point. Also never watched Bebop, even though I fully understand that this is an issue.

: For the weebs on here: Rate my taste in anime
I've struggled with wondering whether or not i have bad taste, and honestly i've decided to stop worrying about it. **YOU ARE ALLOWED TO ENJOY THINGS**. You don't need validation from random ANN reviewers, or snobby "friends" who only enjoy Gundam, or anyone else. Some shows are inherently of better story/narrative/animation quality than others, sure, but it's fine to enjoy bad shows! And just because a show has trashy elements, doesn't mean it's unenjoyable or even bad (**Monster Musume**, **Keijo!!!**, and **Chivalry of a Failed Knight** are shows i enjoyed a lot, and i'd defend their merits against anyone) Putting on my snobby critic glasses, of the shows in your list that i've seen, **Death Parade** and **Jojo's Bizarre Adventure** are objectively great shows. I also really enjoy **Knights of Sidonia**; i haven't seen the other shows. My conclusion is that your friends are a bunch of jerkwads, and i'd try to find another group to watch shows with.

: @jaredan I have a lore question about rengar
I'd much rather Rengar be a member of a species. This is a fantasy world; we already have yordles, merpeople, and even trolls (though no one's cared about Trundle's lore in over 5 years), why NOT have different anthropomorphic species? I'd love to see Alistar, Rengar, and Fizz all be members of different species. This would give some potential story threads of how they interact with the human nations, or how their cultures and stuff are different. It would feel really wrong and weird to me if all of these guys were suddenly mutated humans of some kind. Don't be afraid to make the world bigger, guys

: Quick questions 1. when you say you dont want gimmicks you're talking about {{champion:72}} 's crystal system, {{champion:82}} 's interaction with dragon and {{champion:86}} 's Villain mechanism, which have a big impact ? Does this also include minigames like {{champion:143}} 's seeds or {{champion:114}} 's marks ? Does this includes even smaller minigames like {{champion:122}} 's Q or {{champion:164}} 's W or {{champion:105}} 's W ? 2. Aside from the fact that some people like playing {{champion:113}} from her lore (which she will keep anyway) i can feel a lot of people playing her because of the reliability of her kit, by that i mean there's not much you can do better or worst so this type of champion put less pressure on your shoulder. There are still windows of power and knowing when to go in is a skill that all champions have in common and yes her ult is a skillshot that you really should not miss but it's not that hard and that's just 1 skillcheck every 60s. Do you agree that she needs a lot more skillcheck or desicion making than what she has currently ? And i'm not talking skillshot here, most melee players dont like that much, i'm talking {{champion:154}} 's passive, {{champion:114}} 's W, {{champion:164}} 's W, {{champion:245}} 's R or {{champion:14}} 's Q (maybe a way better version but still) 3. Sej is mainly damage aside from her amumu's-like-ultimate, it's an important part for you or you dont mind trading damage for more cc or more defense ? Devs are looking to go that way About her actual kit and probable changes the passive you'll need to "earn" those stats they will no longer be given to you freely Q will stay relatively the same W will most likely be removed and replaced by a skillcheck spell E will keep its frost theme and CC purpose but will have a stronger skillcheck R will probably just have "the longer the projectile travel the shorter the cc duration" which will still nerf it but will anger the least amount of people
with regards to gimmicks, i was referring to the game-changing mini-games introduced that completely alter what the champion is, whether or not it fits them. Not so much Mordekaiser's dragon ghosts (it fits with his theme), but more about his weird W and experience mechanic he had that was trying to force him into bot lane. So, more referring to things that dictate where/how the character is played, if that makes sense. Kat may have daggers to pick up now, but she's still a mid-lane, roaming AP cleanup assassin.

: How about why Riot makes and remakes champions that will never truly be competitively viable?
kinda confused about this one. Poppy, Warwick, and Sion have all seen lots of competitive play. As far as lesser remakes, Rengar is 100% pick/ban this season, Shen is played all the time, and lots of mages touched during the mage updates are played (Syndra, Cass, Brand, Malz, etc.) there are complaints to be made about LoL, but this one is blatantly incorrect.
: Mid Season Tanks Update - Sejuani
So, it sounds like: 1. Keep Q 2. Nerf R 3. Change everything else I honestly like playing Sejuani a lot, and a large part of it is her impactful ultimate. I'd say it's one of the few "ULTIMATE" ultimates in League, so i'm sad to hear it's going to be made weaker (that's kinda the pattern for stuff in LoL; if it's strong, nerf it and keep everything weak). I do agree that her W and E are pretty underwhelming; it's kinda like old Alistar, where you use your big abilities and then just autoattack (and hope they stay close). It sounds like she'll basically be a brand new champion (with whatever these cavalry changes will be), and i'm not sure she needs such a drastic rework. Some things i'd like to see in a new Sej Kit: 1. Her ult should still be _impactful_, even if the damage/range is nerfed. It doesn't feel right to be to just hamstring one of the few powerful abilities in the game. 2. No gimmicks. Skarner's and Mordekaiser's kits rely on gimmicks that were introduced for change's sake, not to make the champs feel better, and they're hardly played as a result. Sejuani should still FEEL like playing Sejuani. That's all i can think of for now; just wanted to share my thoughts.

that would hurt his early game quite a bit. If you jungle with him, you start spikes and max it for the consistent damage. Making it scale on HP would require it to be weak early, since he gets so much HP later on through items and his kit.

: How do you actually win with Kha?
Hecarim, Zac, and Reksai are tanks who engage team fights, and are meant to take the enemy team's first round of damaging abilities. If you try to engage with Kha'Zix, a fragile assassin, you will instantly die. Like other assassins (Katarina, Zed, etc.) you want to wait for the enemy team to blow some cooldowns, lose their positioning, or become low-health before jumping in. You don't want to be the primary initiation; if your team doesn't have a tank or initiator, place a ton of wards and try to punish poor positioning.

: Any darius mains that can help me?
Most people go Courage of the Colossus for the shield, I personally like Grasp of the Undying; you build a lot of health as Darius, and he likes extended trades, which Grasp encourages, and most of the stats that mastery tree gives are really good on Darius. Fervor of Battle is known for being pretty weak, i'd recommend against it. As for the Poppy matchup, i haven't played it personally, but i have seen very good top laners play it. One thing to bear in mind is that Poppy will have access to 2 shields; from the buckler passive, and from courage of the Colossus. She'll want to trade with you while those shields are active; try to hit her back when those shields are down, and avoid walls so she can't stun you against them. I'd recommend starting Dorans Shield to mitigate the harrass from her passive ranged auto, then go corrupting potion->boots->black cleaver. Also, try to deny her buckler shield by stepping on it whenever you can do so safely. In an extended trade, Darius should win, especially if you can avoid the second proc of damage from her Q.

Evolved Q feels very, very strong; it's CD is halved against isolated targets, which include the buffs and dragon. I'd say still evolve Q and E first, but W and R are very viable now. W gives a very good slow, and R isn't useless anymore.

: Patch Chat with the Playtest Team - 6.22, big changes in the preseason!
Questions regarding a couple of things in the patch notes: 1. The changes to Alistar seem like a straight up nerf, for a champion that doesn't seem all that problematic to me. Making his "Triumphant Roar" unreliable seems like an odd move, and it seems as if it will be very difficult to trigger during team fights. Additionally, his trample damage always seemed negligible to me, so putting it as one of his abilities seems weird. How much of a damage threat is this ability in practice, or is it just a tool to sometimes proc his roar? 2. As a Kha'zix main, i'm mostly happy with the changes (on a surface level), but i'm also worried because a lot of the changes seem like a straight BUFF, which means he'll be gutted later. Making the passive scale with AD massively increases his effectiveness at clearing the (now isolated) buff camps, and once he hits 6 he'll have insane dragon capabilities. I like the changes to W and R, but buffing everything else on an already pretty strong champion is just asking for the nerf bat later down the line.

: Jungle Is Statistically Now The Most Picked Primary Role In The Game, Why Now?
I started maining jungle because i wanted to have more control over whether i win my games or not, and jungle is the role with the greatest impact on the map. There are also many junglers you can legitimately carry with.
: Am I the only one who thinks this game is getting too complex for new players?
League of Legends is an incredibly complex game, and is not friendly for newcomers. It took me about a year to get a decent understanding of the game (and even now it's not like i'm that good). The jungle in particular is enormously complex, especially once the individual smite buffs were introduced. Whether this is a good or bad thing, i don't know. I appreciate that it avoids some of the needless complexity of DOTA2, but some much better tutorials are needed for new players. And it is absurdly difficult to accumulate enough IP for runes and champions (i've been playing since 2011 and i still don't own every champion).
: So, can we address some of Morde's unhealthy aspects before even considering tinkering with him?
I have mixed feelings about his current state. I've been playing Morde since i first started playing league 5 years ago, and i admit i miss the days of pushing mid wave, taking wraiths, push mid wave, take enemy wraiths, repeat. I like what they were TRYING to do with this new kit, but i have some issues with it that i think need to be addressed. 1. The W is very awkward in design and use. It's just not intuitive that it's your healing tool, and it feels like Riot is punishing you for not being in a dual lane every time you use it on a minion. I think they should make this a completely different ability. 2. His damage is almost entirely in his Q. This essentially forces you to build Rylais, otherwise you have zero ways to control a fight (lest they take the dreaded "walk away from Morde" strategy). It's fun to have that huge damage on the 3rd hit, and forces teams to not ignore Morde, but it makes laning pretty uninteractive. 3. The high damage on Q means that his base stats are terrible. Old Morde used to have poor base stats but high scaling (as i recall), so you just farmed up, got items, and became unstoppable. Now, Morde works best when you build Rylais' into full tank, which means that E and W damage is negligible, which means you're dependent on your Q. A 'juggernaut' like Morde should have the stats to at least compete with Garen and Darius in lane without having to wait until having 2 tank items. 4. He needs more than 2 impactful abilities. His E used to be the ultimate waveclear/AoE tool, but now it's just a shield generator to apply Rylias' slow, unless you built full AP. W is an unsatisfying grab-bag of healing and situational speed-boosts. R is cool as always, but that's it. Compare this to Darius and Garen; do any of their abilities feel superfluous? Not to me. Riot can be a lot more creative in coming up with Death Knight abilities that match his theme.

: Kha is going to get the warwick treatment anyways when the new assassin items come out. He'll be just as viable as warwick after feral flare changes.
: I've loved K6 since the beginning of my career, which happened to start around the time bard came out (I'm a relatively new player, in that regard). He was the first champion I've ever played, and the first assassin that I bought, disregarding Xerath, who is listed as one in his secondary. But I digress. Although he's just about figured out at this point, I dont see why it wouldn't be appropriate to give a suggestion as an experienced Kha' player, but also as a summoner in the lower percentile of play. His Q and E shouldn't be touched, of course. That's agreeable to just about everyone here. Sticking to the idea of spikes that literally propell from the shoulders of a bug, why not have the evolved form slow and deal damage based on max health as a DOT (Like Elise's Neurotoxin) and, instead of revealing them downright, leaves a 'scent' along the ground that splashes nearby entities and shows the direction they're headed in while the poison is in effect, much like an oracle lens. This will enable the 'zix to track down his targets, detect invisible champions, and reveal wards over the short duration (assuming that the blast will explode upon hitting max range). For his ultimate in base form, I'd suggest a similar version of Akali's ult (which is rather unique, in terms of stealth). Instead of sending it to cooldown, have his active camouflage hold charges that restore over time and add addictional ones per kill. Let the evolved form hold more charges, break CC (or just slows), and passively activate while he's in a brush (it's camo, after all), remaining for a second or two afterward so he can get the jump on his opponents. Remix the K6
I like the ideas for the evolved W! Neat stuff :)

: When you're jungling...
It depends on a lot of things, including what champions the enemies have and what your team has. If the other team has a bunch of squishies, playing an assassin jungler is a great idea. If your team has the makings of a team fighting wombo-combo, picking Sejuani or Malphite can really work. If your team needs tankiness/cc, Zac and Nautilus are great choices. It all just depends. I tend to want to play carry junglers like Kha'Zix because i want to be in control of whether i win or lose.

: Let's talk about Plants!
I don't see why they'd make this change. I wasn't in favor of the smite buffs to begin with (they added a HUGE amount of complexity to the jungle role), but now that we have them, I rely on them to play my role effectively. Xypherous keeps reciting the "rote strategy" mantra, but as a jungler i already have a nearly infinite number of decisions to make most points i the game. Being able to smite wolf camp if i feel at risk of being invaded, or smiting raptors to clear wards or set up a gank, whenever those camps are up is hugely important to how I play. Jungling is already by far the most complex role in the game; having some reliability is not a bad thing. Even if the plants spawn as often as the creature camps (which doesn't seem to be the case), they're just a version of the smite buff that's easier for the enemy to deny when ahead. I'd be in favor of removing the smite buffs, and compensating by giving item/masteries that give those benefits, but these plants just feel weak to me. It's like relying on Runes from DOTA to jungle effectively. What would make me in favor of these plants would be: 1. **They spawn as often as the animal camps do** (to replicate the availability of smite buffs) 2. **The ones vital to jungle and vision clears spawn in bushes and are more difficult to kill** (this way, a jungler who falls behind isn't completely shut down by the other jungler, or a random enemy Caitlin coming to snipe their plant. Having them in bushes would add some effort for the enemy) I'm not in favor of these plants as it feels like change for change's sake, prompted by buzzword-heavy strategy sessions, but if they're going to steamroll ahead with it those are my suggestions.
