For shits and giggles, are you able to connect to the router with a LAN cable for a test day or two? I'd like to rule out your wifi and that is the easiest way to do it.

: I've attempted pretty much everything on the guide, but I still get this random bug splat. I'll just be walking around nothing going on and Ziggs pops up. I can function the entire game, but if I click on Ziggs it forces me out and I have to close the bug splat window and rejoin the game. During this time I hear the opening animation of the client (when you disenchant something for BE etc.) This will also occur periodically during the loading screen when I hit 90% (every time) I just need to re log once. Sometimes I think it's because I have discord or web pages open, but sometimes it happens without anything up. Currently I have attempted to reinstall / Hextech repair. Install an new SSD which significantly improved my performance outside of league. And install more RAM despite league not needing more than 8 GBs of DDR4. I have an I5 Processor with a GTX 960. An issue with a specific champion/event usually means corrupted files with the game (but you re-installed to a different directory?) or the driver package you're using.

Guess what happened after, just like Custom games when everyone leaves the game the game gets deleted and I never got my LP. Sometimes, game servers will derp and completely freeze/lock up. If that happens, all games on it never complete and aren't stored. We track those as games that don't finish properly, and can see when the number of games starting over a set time period don't equal the games that end from the same active ids. Those, along with Ghost Games, are pretty rare occurrences. Sorry you had to run into one :(

: Hey! For the last few weeks I've had major issues logging in, and I still am. When this first started, I got stuck in the loop of reverting to the previous version and updating. So, I clean reinstalled the game. When I reinstalled the game, I was still stuck in the loop, but then the game just stopped patching. I couldn't figure out why the game refused to patch, and I went for a few days without being able to play. I clean reinstalled the game on my second SSD, yet the issue still persisted. I left the client open over night, and in the morning the game had patched, but I was unable to login because the client was saying I was possibly offline. I tried every solution under the sun for this, and ended up just coinflip restarting the client over and over until it said I wasn't offline. This would take probably 7-15 minutes until the client started properly. I did this for all of last patch. My game was unable to patch on wednesday's patch, and I couldn't start the client directly from the last patch's folder, so I tried to clean reinstall the game using a VPN. The game downloaded and patched perfectly, and I was able to log in. Here's the catch, my client will only let me login on a VPN, or trying to coinflip whatever server the client connects to until I get it to work, as I said earlier. I believe the cause of this may be because I am on my University's internet, and I can not manually set my DNS: it gets automatically assigned. I have not yet found a solution besides fooling the client by using a VPN. Could I perhaps get some insight on this? PS: the HexTech support tool hardly functions and should probably be looked at eventually

You may have to reach out to Campus IT in order to get League's Ports opened/forwarded (could be a blocked port) or to get League traffic allowed through a campus firewall (which could also be blocking the game). Do you have other friends on campus that are running into the same issue?

The script running on the DB took more processing power than expected, causing mission progress to delay. When the script ended, mission progress resumed normal processing rates. More of a 'well, we know why using multiple threads on a single DB causes primary tasks to slow down and this one caused that to slow down. Getting a feel for the kind of problems you run into operating at the kind of insane scale that Riot does is pretty enlightening stuff :D To COPY/PASTA from somewhere else... Sometimes Microsoft released builds referred to as “Escrow”. Escrow means the development of a branch gets stopped and the code is being tested. If Microsoft or its testers don’t discover any serious bugs (“showstoppers”), the current build becomes the final milestone (usually RC or RTM, but sometimes there are also beta escrow builds). Escrow builds are usually handed out to TAP (Technology Adoption Program) testers, ISVs, IHVs, etc. Basically, branch cuts of, and at, various points of Windows Development.

Some are just applications that eventually freeze/crash/start having issues after running for a long time. Many times, rebooting the service fixes any increased error rates we see from our monitoring system. Other times, 3rd party systems we use can go down, which can cause systems we run and maintain to fail or need to be turned off until the 3rd party system is fixed on their end. And a few things, we really can't go into detail just because we don't want to expose anything that may end up as a leak or help someone access something they really shouldn't.

You guys should also know why players are writing in so I don't get why you don't know the cause either. Well, each patch usually touches dozens and dozens of different systems, so if something goes wrong, it can take a while to narrow down particular issues in order to get them fixed. That's a bit different than something called 'Known Shippable' A known shippable bug, is a bug that was found somewhere in the development cycle, but usually too late to fix for that same patch. The impact of the bug is considered not terrible enough to warrant fixing the bug and delaying the cycle, so it's a 'known shippable' and usually fixed the following patch. However, sometimes bugs can remain 'known shippable' until other dependencies are fixed. It's not great, but it's what's needed to prioritize bugs.

Maybe it's just too early in the season right now to be playing with the amount of people on their smurf accounts. I would say anecdotally, the worst (or best depends on how you look at it) times to play ranked are right at the start of a season, and at the very end. You can get an extreme amount of variance in skill from players because it's the very beginning and everything's getting sorted out, and for the end, players are charging towards personal goals, possibly doing riskier trades/champ selections because they need to get just one more promotion with only 3 days left. Usually, after a few patches, everything's settling down, and you should be playing against people who mathematically are where they should be in order to improve.

: Could you elaborate on the choices behind locking position trading? I just played a Yas game and was assigned mid and traded lanes with my top laner so that I could dodge a zed matchup (not that yas is bad into zed just didnt want that skill matchup) and once we won the game I found that the win didnt count toward my mid lp and was counted as top alone. While not the end of the world in terms of importance but I feel this is a poor side effect of the new ranked que, it punishes teams with better communication if your trying to climb in one roll. We're not the best team to answer that question, since we don't work on matchmaking at all (just keep the servers up that do matchmaking). You might have a more informed answer from the balance section of Boards. The best I can provide is that because you did in fact play top, you were increased in ranking due to where you were, instead of getting mid points for winning, when in fact you were in top lane. Think if you did that 100 times in a row, traded mid for top, your team won, and still your mid score kept on going up and up and up and up. When you finally got to play mid again, you could be rated significantly higher than you actually are, where you'd be unable to compete without having the skills for that MMR (again, assumptions. For all I know, you're the next Faker).

: I can add to this as well, every time the game freezes it literally kicks the game back 2 patches and rejects the new updates. Then just recently I ran the hextech repair and it still froze on me. Then after I restarted my computer, because I cannot close the game any other way, I boot back up and then it reverted back to pre-season patch and displayed the Terms of Use as if I just reinstalled the game.

When was the last time you fresh installed the game? Is your hard drive running out of space? It shouldn't forget the installs you have on it, are you perhaps on a network deep freeze computer?

: Is there a fix on the way for the issue where content does not load properly on the Watch site? Whether I click on VODs, Schedule, or Standings, I get a blank, black screen with a red error at the bottom of the screen that says SERVICE RETURNED AN INVALID RESPONSE. I would like to get caught up on some matches and while I can do this on YouTube, it would be nice to get the rewards that come from watching on the Watch website.

Have you deleted all settings related to cookies and info from the various riotgames websites? Are you trying to access that content on a VPN? You should just be able to view any of the VODs across a variety of browsers and earn the rewards if logged in (Firefox, Chrome, even Edge...).

That second bug needs to be fixed (which is currently in progress). I'm not sure when it will be fixed (since it's still WIP currently and has engineers assigned to it), but once the 2nd bug is fixed, both can be deployed, which will fix Voice Chat within League for Mac OS Mojave 10.14 users. For temporary voice chat solutions, there's Discord, Skype, Vent, Ventrilo, a bunch of lightweight programs you probably have or can install onto Macs decently easily. I'd hope this would be fixed by 9.2 or 9.3, but don't hold me to that (not an engineer, don't know their workload).
: It's rather insulting to have Riot homage one of the best films of all time, The Good the Bad and the Ugly. In the same way a fortnite Youtuber does a lets play of a game like Dark Souls, or someone like Pitbull, or Justin Timberlake doing a "cover" of a good song.

: So I know you aren't the balance team, and I'm not going to ask about balance, but this seems like a nice way to try and connect with the community about what's going on in the game from a technical perspective. I'm wondering if you have any insight on how the League community can best engage with rioters in a respectful and constructive manner, be that rioters on the balance team, tech side (such as here), lore, etc. Just curious what you think really works for both ends of the communication.

Some of the best advice I can give, from the giving feedback to someone who is working on a product, is to always ask yourself two questions: 1) Is the feedback I'm giving clear? 2) Have I shut anyone out? Long story short, think about how you want to engage, especially around hot topics. For instance, here's two ways to approach feedback from a recent topic on Reddit today around damage 1: "League sucks, everyone bursts everyone down instantly, this is stupid and I hate it." 2: League currently has a lot of burst damage in the game (items, champs, recent reworks), which makes my preferred champ and playstyle of damage and positioning over time feel incredibly bad. Is this the future of League? Can we go back towards more drawn out fights that last longer than a few seconds? Are there any upcoming changes that may make the immediate future less explodey-bursty? Both say what they don't like currently (the burst in game). However, the first basically says 'This thing sucks, fix it' and the second goes 'this thing sucks to me because [reason], what, if anything, can be done about it?' The second also opens up multiple avenues to talk around it, upcoming Pre-Season/New Season, changes to items, etc. The first just kinda hard dunks down 'X sucks, fix it' TL;DR, Express feedback in a 'X thing feels like Y because it makes Z.' Then ask questions. Feelings are important, just don't let them be the only thing you're saying.
: why some of my friends get a normal ping and i got a fair ping which is not good but when i check it using the cdm thingy my ping for gaming was okay. is that the cause of your server? or my connection?
> [{quoted}](name=Barry4llen,realm=NA,application-id=6WpmgL9O,discussion-id=PBwVEGNQ,comment-id=0007,timestamp=2019-01-04T17:34:19.605+0000) > > why some of my friends get a normal ping and i got a fair ping which is not good but when i check it using the cdm thingy my ping for gaming was okay. is that the cause of your server? or my connection? Well, there's this really cool tool we launched a year or two ago here: https://lagreport.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/ (Might wanna check it out). Short answer, is data going from your computer to a ping server is probably a different route than the data your computer will send to our servers and back again. Depending on time of day (morning, evening, late night, afternoon), type of Internet (Wifi vs. Wired, Dial-up, broadband, satellite, etc), balance issues (usually depends on type of day and traffic congestion), your ping can vary throughout the day from morning to afternoon to evening. You might want to contact support, they'll probably have you run trace routes to our servers when it's unusual vs. when it's normal and see what's up.

: So the team on the boards isn’t the balance team but when you have an issue with the game riot support sends you here. So am I just to assume that riot just doesn’t care about the player base? Cause support says dev team is on here and you say they aren’t

So am I just to assume that riot just doesn’t care about the player base? Cause support says dev team is on here and you say they aren’t I don't think you can lump every single Rioter on the boards as not working on the balance team, and I'm pretty sure some of those rioters check boards pretty regularly. But, not every Rioter works on every project and developers for all sorts of teams are here on the boards, and some aren't. However, not every Rioter views every single board, and not every comment that could be replied to, unfortunately. Gameplay balance devs most likely are not going to be reading the Live Incident Breakdown thread, but they're far more likely to read your comments or threads within gameplay or general discussion. Riot support also sends you to a variety of places: The KB articles, boards, sometimes even reddit threads. The entire point is to either fix your problem asap, or shed light on a way to fix it. Game balance questions, we can answer what they know, but anything that may be unknown (Why is scaling on Shaco's Q this or that), or something around balance (too much damage, when nerfing champions as a whole?), is 100% not in support's wheelhouse to solve. Aside from us sending your response to the balance team, we can also send you where they lurk, and hope that they may also directly choose to engage on your question or concern.
: I know this Isnt really the right place to put this but I feel like these posts have people that actually listen to all the complaints people have so, is the balance team going to follow up on their plans to lower the overall damage output of the game, are there any plans in the future for this or to make champions like enchanting supports and vanguards more popular again within botlane over the constant spam of DPS Mages? The game is really starting to feel tiring at this point and I'm honestly at a point where I'm beginning to enjoy playing less and less.

I'm not sure, but I can poke around the new year and see what's up, and we do have the upcoming new season which may change all that around (I have no idea what's coming, so duuuuuno). Until more info, stay tuned I guess might be the best thing to say?

: I just want to ask about something. I saw a few fanfiction contests on EUW and OCE servers. I found out that there was a Snowdown Fanfiction Contest for European servers. https://boards.eune.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/fan-fiction/8gO5BIqX-fanfiction-contest-snowdown-showdown. Will NA ever get one?

The main thing that happened was that I lost a game (surrender at 15-20 m ) and I wanted to play a game with a friend after that but the Server thought I was still in game so everytime I logged in he tried to launch the Game the Launcher just said "Game still in Progress" and my Friends saw that I was about 6h in to the Game. discord showed that 6h ingame as well. We have a saved link here that can explain it quickly (https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/help-support/EmBqWKcz-ghost-game-anyone-know-a-fix) but the tl;dr is, game server said you were in game, client said you were out of it, until they both agree you're out, you're stuck in a non-existent game.
