He should care because they thought of this before they released the system. Losing a game as any role splashes the LP loss to your other roles as well. If you lose a lot on a certain off role, the splash becomes even greater.

Quit for seasons 6, 7. {{champion:30}} Came back and learned I love to play Karthus, played Karthus to Plat in s8. Play him unless he's banned in which case I play Orianna. {{champion:21}} The only ADC I can play well.

: Yeah quick question
It's already reportable and there are certain keywords you can say in game that can get you an automatic chat restriction or ban whether you're reported or not. Most likely they'll be punished especially if they've done it before.
: Need help
Stick to champions that are mechanically easy but that you still enjoy playing. Watch guides for that champion and just watch for what it looks like when that champion does well, and try to emulate that in your games. Stick to learning the basics first (CSing well, positioning correctly in laning phase, remembering to ward your lane) and then once you have that down, start thinking about bigger macro decisions that revolve around objectives and teamfights. There's more to the game than anyone could ever tell you in just one post or even ten or a hundred posts. It just takes a long time to learn the game at even a basic level. I've coached new players occasionally and I could probably help you out if you feel like adding me in game I'm on most days to help out :]
: I dont see how dark harvest is busted in this video, i see normal dmg with any rune from overfed lux with lich bane
If you look this game up, Dark Harvest did 4.3k damage in a game of only 33 minutes. That's actually wildly higher than she would get with any other option. Just as a matter of pure damage it's just way higher than any other option, and this is only 33 minutes in when it hasn't even super ramped up. Mind you it ramps up faster if you end up getting fed because of it's reset mechanic on takedowns. Either way, any other rune in this situation would have done 2-3k max.
: Is pushing better now than freezing?
The goal is to increase your gold lead over the enemy as much as possible. So if you have kill pressure, bring the wave near your turret, go for a kill, and push the wave for plating and it will bounce back to you again. If you're ahead but the enemy plays too passive to really get a kill, then youll never really take a plate anyway unless you can dive. In that case it's better to just freeze and deny gold/xp because pushing won't get you anything.

Yeah, preseason 8 was aprox 2 1/2 months long, which is around 20% of a year. Assuming someone plays the same amount of games every day, that would make every 5th game you play a preseason game. I'm simply implying that reducing that time to 10% (up to 15% at worst) of a year would be more beneficial to both RIOT and Playerbase.

Not sure exactly what the thought process is as far as having it be so long - I'm sure it gives them time to work out any big kinks before ranked games start "mattering", but even so, I dont disagree I wouldn't mind if they were shorter even if it meant a little crazier of a start to the season.

I still play ranked in the off season. Especially since next season your ranked border/armor etc. will be updated automatically...no reason not to just rank up since it still affects your placements for s9.

Trying hard should be punishable. Okay, so if you get stomped in lane by the enemy laner, how exactly do you tell the difference between someone 'trying hard' and someone who just wrecked you while simultaneously watching some netflix on the screen next to them? Pretty sure just because someone rolls you doesn't mean they had to try very hard to do it.

Nothing happens. If you demote, you will still receive rewards based on the rank that was recorded for you on the 12th.

Oh you meant Flex queue...I thought you meant Solo/Duo. Yeah, as the other poster mentioned, Flex queue is not necessarily the best place to go for a balanced match. If you want to practice against some people a bit better than yourself, it's sometimes a good place to go. That can be a good tool to use if you want to improve. If you want to actually rank up in a meaningful way, however, the only rank that people really look for is your Solo/Duo rank.

Depends on the player, but many players of 5-6 months will struggle to reach Silver 3.

What I imagine is that if you select fill, most of your LP gain will be allotted to your assigned role, and the splash LP will be allotted to the remaining 4 roles.

: I don't understand
Well hopefully 14 days is enough time for you to figure it out.
: "a couple days ago" it literally hasnt even been 24h why even bother doing ranked now anyways
"A couple days ago": It ended Nov 12, it is November 14. 14-12 = 2. Yes, it 'literally has' been 24 hours, no it hasn't been the full 2, it was an approximation. Also, MMR is still affected by pre-season games, which is why playing pre-season games can still affect your placements in s9. If you wanted the answer to that question, there are plenty of threads out there that explain this.
: Champion
If you're new at the game there are a lot of champs that you can play that can be a lot of fun that don't necessarily require you to get all fancy with their skills. Garen {{champion:86}} can actually be a lot of fun and is pretty simple to use. If you practice with him he has a lot of different build options and you really have the opportunity to bully people around in lane and in certain match-ups really deny an opponent a good way to make any sort of way into the game. He has the flexibility of being tanky or building more damage depending on your lane matchup and what your team needs. {{champion:23}} also mentioned by a poster above is a pretty simple champion to start out with. The cool thing about him is that despite how simple he is to get going with, you can actually get pretty good with him and do some more advanced tricks that will help you to win fights in 2v1 or 3v1 situations potentially if you play the situations right. Like Garen he's a champ that has the capability of being super impactful on the game and can potentially turn a very losing game into a winning one with enough practice. EDIT: You asked about summoners, this depends on the champion and what your goal is. I'll just focus on the one's I mentioned: Garen is usually top lane and will always take Flash, and sometimes either Teleport or Ignite. If your team has a very strong 5v5 team fight, you could try taking ignite in a lane you think you can get a kill out of and just stay grouped with your team. Otherwise, you can potentially try to outclass your lane opponent to take turrets on top through split pushing and then switch to bottom lane and push bottom with Teleport available. Tryndamere pretty much has the same idea as Garen for summs, but will sometimes take Ghost as well. Personally not a huge fan of Ghost over Ignite or Teleport but it can come in handy.
: Ranked Suggestion
If the requirement is that you must be level 3 on 10 or more champs, then are you suggesting that people who play ranked are only allowed to play those particular champions when they queue up? So essentially your ranked champ pool would go down to 10ish champs, depending on which you've played. This is problematic since even if someone got level 3 on 10 junglers, if they were autofilled into another role they would not meet the requirement to play that role on any champion except one which potentially has no use in that lane, where they would honestly be better off playing a simple champion that they have less experience on but is more suited to the role. Requirements like these often times seem decent but if you delve into it a little longer you end up finding problems that will come up in cases like these.
: Just so you know, old runes barely did anything early game.
As someone who played with the old runes since season 1, this just isn't all that accurate. It might not stop an assassin who just hit their item spike from assassinating you, although it might. What it will certainly do is lessen the poke you'll take over time if you're able to choose between magic resist and armor and prioritize a stat that will actually help you against a certain match-up in lane. If you take a number of hits from poke from Zed, Ori, Syndra, Lux, etc in mid lane, the right resistance will help you stay in lane longer above critical HP. This obviously depends on how the new stats are tuned. Also it's not just about resistances either. The old runes had movement speed quints, and if they allow move speed as a stat at any point (doesn't sound like it'll be an option on roll-out) you'll have an easier time dodging skill shots, which can be just as good as resistance.
: PSA: It is now Preseason here is what that means
If I'm demoted from Gold between now and when ranked rewards hit, will I still receive Gold+ ranked rewards? Looking around for the answer to this question but haven't come up with anything.

Well I'll just shamelessly plug by 1trick since it sounds like you like outplaying and feeling accomplished. {{champion:30}} {{item:3157}} {{item:3040}} Karthus with these two items can literally run it down a lane and pop people if you have enough of a farm advantage. If you want to feel accomplished, run it down a side lane and let their assassin mid and jungle try to 2v1 you. You have Zhonya's, Seraph's Shield, AND Barrier/Flash. You can actually 2v1 assassins as a champion that is supposed to be hard countered by them because as Karthus everyone will just underestimate how well you can duel. Just open with E, don't miss your q's, and you can mitigate a ton of damage with shields and Zhonyas. Often times you won't even need them though because you do so much damage that they have to stop immediately after they try to engage.

Probably need a couple of other requirements than just 'mechanical'. Some champs that wouldn't be mechanical can be with certain item builds that allow them to take duels, some are super mechanical all the time but maybe you wouldn't enjoy them personally.
