I am currently struggling to learn Spanish atm. I appreciate the correction. No problem at all, im a native speaker and also a "spanish" profesor. If you need a hand let me know .
: Well Spanish has two genders. So for example gustar means 'to like' Gusto would be the male version of it And gusta would be the female. So a male would say Yo gusto (I like) and a female would say Yo gusta (i like) However words don't change based on whom is being liked. Or what gendered object is being liked. So I would say Yo gusto mi gato (i like my cat{male}) or, Yo gusto mi gata. (I like my cat{female}) but gusto won't change because I am a man. Idk if that makes any sense. It is similar to french, they are both launguages that come primarily from Latin I believe.
This made me lol, thank you for that. Spanish is indeed kinda hard to learn, and you are right about it being a descendant of Latin (same as French, Italian, and quite a few more). However, gusto and gusta are both different conjugations of the same verb. In spanish, we generally use _o _ and _a _ to express gender on nouns and adjectives (there are some exceptions, but this is the rule of thumb for gender on spanish). Gato and gata are, respectivly, male cat and female cat. However, in the spanish verbal system we have no mark for gender on the conjugations of any verb. Here, the verbs are conjugated according to the time you're trying to express (present, past, future, and their variations), the number of people that are acting on the verb (**I **run = Yo **corro **// **We **run = Nosotros **corremos**) and what we call the person of the verb (I actually don't know the english term for this, maybe you also use it in this sense). By person we refer to whom is making the action: First person - Yo (I - singular) Nosotros (Us - plural) | Second person - Tu (you - singular) Vosotros/Ustedes (its pretty much the same, a lectal variety, but the first form is more formal. Both translate to You - plural) | Third person - Él/Ella (He/She - singular) Ellos/Ellas (They - plural. The article does separate through gender, but the conjugation of the verb doesen't). You've picked a pretty hard verb to use in spanish, as its use is pretty different than other verbs and its kinda long to explain. I'll use **to run** = **correr** as an example. First person (I|We): singular - corro | plural - corremos Second person (you|you): singular- corres | plural- corréis/corren Third person (He/She|They): singular- corre (this is the interesting one, he/she runs translate as él/ella corre, with no distinction made on the conjugation) | plural - corren I run its translated as _yo corro_ despite it being said by either a male or female enunciator. As a matter of fact _yo corra_ is also present, but either said as an order (You, run = Usted, corra) or in a kind of conjugation that denotes possibility instead of certainty-> _Puede que corra el viernes_ = I might run on Friday. It ended up being pretty long, sorry about that. Here goes the short version: tl;dr: Gusto and gusta are not the same verb said either by male or female, but two completly different conjugations. The o/a variation applies only on nouns and adjectives.
: Mind that Tyrant Swain still has the full transformation. So Riot is clearly both able and willing to do that kind of thing - if you are willing to pay 10 bucks to retain a very iconic part of your champion.
Yeah, that was a pretty dick move. Price tags on his reworked skins goes something like: Model + Wings change (520 Bilgewater skin) + particle color change + animation birds change (750 Northern Front) + new voice effect + demon bird head (1050 Tyrant). I don't really like how it was animated, though, but still it feels like a knife on the back to Swain lovers.
: As somebody who doesn't care about Swain, each bit of his visuals you brought up was exactly what I knew would be complained about. Because, honestly, let's face it. If they don't LOOK like the champion, reception won't be taken well at face value. With that being said. I was kind of disappointed that he did not keep his crippled leg. I can see how they handled it with it being transferred over to his "missing" arm. In fact, I feel that, lore wise, he made a deal with Beatrice for his powers. And when he did, she gave him a new arm to replace the one he lost. Honestly, lorewise, it makes perfect since. Just, visually, it feels different, y'know? It's not bad, but it was piece people wanted to stay the same. Also, I'm glad that the raven motif overall still appears as his passive and within his quote. In fact, it even feels more integral now as it looks less like, 'Oh I chose to do it like thi" as opposed to it being a power source or a moniker of where said source comes from. With that being said, if you don't pay attention to the passive, the lack of Beatrice is a bit blaring and hurts for those who might jump to conclusions that she just doesn't exist anymore, PERIOD. Also...he's not green. He matches his faction now, which is proper, but he's not green. 0 points for House Slytherin.
You are right, reworks are a pesky thing, and dealing with the champion playerbase is probably really hard. About your points, I also mourn the loss of his crippled leg. The red colors make sense, tho, as they are more fitting for the noxian palette. If it makes you feel better, the Tyrant skin will keep the green particles. On the Swain Mains subreddit there are already being proposed a few fixes to make the new Swain feel more similar to the old one. Two of the most accepted ones would be reducing his hair for a more militarized look, and making the screeching bird head of his ultimate fit Swains torso when he ults. If Riot pulls both of those things, while also tweaking his ult wings and head particles for a more organic texture I would be pretty much satisfied. Bonus points if they change his facial features to be less obviously handsome and more akin to those of current Swain.
: OP you hit it all pretty spot on i think, i also feel that his new kit and lore seems overall amazing, but the missing bird on his shoulder, the cane, along with his new style, particularly head and hair, feel hella odd. Doesn't look right on a militant dictator at all, i´d figure he´d be more towards the Tywin lannister side, from game of thrones.
Thanks man, I'm glad we agree on these points. The rework is pretty great, we should be open about our discomfort on the new looks. There are a couple of fixes being proposed by the Swain Mains community, which involve making his hair shorter and making his screeching bird head fit his torso when he ults (and staying there). If they do those things, fix the particles on his ult to be more organic and crow-like, and tweak his face a little bit I'll be more than satisfied about this rework.

: As i already said somewhere else, i believe full trasnformation is a no-no. basically, it is a fully functional model for a skill that lasts few seconds and that has to deal with all the nuances of display ( how it interacts graphically with spells and spell effects, animation, skins and so on). which honestly it's a little wasted, given it's all resources that could be used somewhere else. It was a problem even before his rework, since it blocked him for having many skins. For sure they won't add one after. I am not a Swain main or fan by any point, but i can at least say this with some certainlity.
Eh, thats actually a very fair point tbh. It could be fixed, however, by still making it a parcial transformation with more nightmarish features. As it is now the feeling of the ultimate has been completely changed while retaining the skill in itself, which is a pretty big letdown for swainmains that liked him specially because of his monstrous persona. Don't get me wrong, though. I would love a full tranformation and I am absolutely willing to lose quality on the design of the rest of his kit (won't happen, though, as it has already been developed). You raise a great point.
: so we make any champion have red colors and now hes a vlad look alike. i dont get why people say he looks like vlad
He does look like BL Vladimir, though. He is a white-long-haired warlock with a dark and heavy armor and red-particled skills. My personal grip about it is that, while it fits Vlad greatly, it is pretty awkward on Swain. Vladimir is inspired off of the vampire archetype (though he isn't one). Vampires were based off of aristocrats, and their stories are often interpreted as a critique to the way powerful and rich people exploited (sucked the life out of) lower classes. A great symbol of this is long hair, as taking care of your hair demands a lot of time. Swain, on the other hand, doesn't fit that type of person, and this is even worse when you realize in his old lore he pulled noxian support out of representing the noxus ideal.

: Something's fishy with jungle exp.
I was genuinely expecting a post about jg {{champion:105}} {{summoner:11}}
: Oh my god .... Vicktorious Graves hurts me
It has some great particles tho, and the model itself isn't that bad. I personally feel like most people, his textures lack visual depth and he is overall too shiny. Maybe if they darkened the colors a little bit and added some shine to the metallic details of the skin it would be pretty much good to go. The only thing I absolutely CAN'T STAND is the hair. The skin is pretty clean in general, which I don't really like on Graves but also don't consider it such a big deal either. The hair, however, is awful IMO, and added to the bright palette of the skin it makes him look like a discount prince charming (is he smirking, too? if that's the case, then I feel like that should go along with the hair) Does anybody know how does chromas and queues match up? I assume the purple one is solo/duo, as its the one showed by default. Also the blue one probably is the all-queue gold+. Can't really figure out the white and the black ones.

Yeah, its pretty worrying hahaha however they had already spoken about building the rework over a "tyrant" base instead of a "tactician one", so we can expect a tough battlemage. I would've suffered if they went for the tactician focus tbh, it sure is a cool archetype, but Swain is pretty much an ap juggernaut and I enjoy playing him for what he is.

: Swain Re-work
They've said that this will be an Urgot/Galio level rework. Chances are he will be reworked from the ground up, with the essence of his gameplay still intact (though this changes usually drift away far enough as to make old mains feel uncomfortable). I'm sorry if I'm bringing this news to you, pal. I main Swain, and even though I have loved all of Riots reworks I'm pretty sad to know that I'll lose the champ I love since season 2. If this is somehow soothing, I also used to main Yorick and was pretty spammy of Urgot too, and even though they have been reworked bigtime I still main them and enjoy the hell out of them. We can only trust the rework team and hope for the best.
: I just read what i hoped not to read about Swain rework.
I get the way you feel, I kinda felt that way too for a while. However I think you are misinterpreting Riot's direction with Swain (or at least what seems to be their direction, I don't necessarily know more about him than you do, though as a Swain main I've been trying to keep up with all the info I could get about him). Swain has a terrible dichotomy between his title and his gameplay: On one hand, in every lore piece we see Swain as a master deceiver; someone who could climb to the top of Noxus out of pure wits and magical prowess (even though JoJ ain't oficial lore anymore, it still is the main source we have for his raise to power, and he does defeat Darkwill's heritage in a duel). On the other hand, he plays like an AP ranged juggernaut/battlemage that can out-duel and out-sustain most matchups not through strategic playing, but by being ballsy and positioning in smart places meant to beefy casters, in which most carries wouldn't stand a chance. What Riot has done regarding this rework direction seems pretty smart. We only see Swain as a master tactician in lore, so why force that on his gameplay? that would be like taking Caitlyn's title "The sheriff of Piltover" and making her gameplay revolve around catching people and putting them in jail, or taking Kog'Maw and changing his kit into one of a devourer (this is kinda a pet-peeve of mine tho, why does his lore talk so much about his eternal hunger if all he is going to do is barf at people?). Instead, by making Swain stick to his warlock aspect we can still get the best of both worlds. We actually already caught a glimpse of this. Even if Swain gets reworked to be a warlock, he still behaves in-lore as a tactician. He doesn't rip Urgot's soul apart just because he wanted his position to be available, he tricks him into going to his own death on foreign soil. One last thing I disagree with you on. Darius didn't support Swain for being smart alone, he got behind Swain's goal because he noticed in him a leader representative of what Noxus stands for: a relentless, powerful leader with a hand of steel and craving for conquest. Actually, Darius hated to see Noxuses leaders turn weasely and weak over time, kinda coming full circle since Kled's lore. We now have another problem: Originally, Swain's magic wasn't as out in the open as it seems to be now. The black rose was a secret faction of mages pulling the strings on Noxus ruling, and they are responsible for bringing Swain to the top. Darius used to be effy about magic usage, and kind of doubted Swain about that. Besides, with Urgot's new lore piece we find Swain weaseling on his way to the top too, so whats Darius take on this? I hope I got your hopes up with this, I know I'm excited to see Riot's new take on Swain, even though I'm pretty sad and scared to lose my alltime main (at least from season 2 I believe).
: was swain head of noxus when riven was exiled?
Quite probably, yeah. As some people had said before, we still have a lot to find out about Noxus, however, the last piece of information we got about that faction (I'm not counting Urgot's lore because he has been reworked to be mainly Zaunite now. In case you do, the pice of information before last) was from Darius comic. Unless Riven's lore gets changed, she deserts from Noxus's army when she realises the horrors her nation brought upon Ionia. In the new lore, the ionian war is still pretty gruesome: Darius wanders the streets of Ionia with Quiletta only to see the destruction product of some kind of toxic weaponry, probably Singed's; in Kayn's lore we learn that some particularly dishonorable generals sent kids to fight in Ionia because they thought the ionian honorable standards prevented them from killing their young army. In "Blood of Noxus" (again, Darius's comic), we see him talking with the last hand of Noxus, and the war veteran calls Darius "hand of Noxus". As far as we know, Swain is the one to give him that title, so if he already is hand of Noxus when the ionian war happened, and Riven deserts on that same war, we could almost be sure that she pretty much deserted from Swain's dictatorship.
: Swains theme song? Your thoughts?
I really want an orchestral theme for my boy Swain, mostly due to his quote on Sona's Bio. I'd love to think that Swain's theme song would be something he enjoys listening. Maybe something along the lines of Bloodborne's soundtrack? first two songs to come to mind are the suite and the cleric's beast theme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzdhTGaWzec (the whole piece is gorgeous, but Swain vibes start to clearly show up, at least for me, at minute 2:50) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICSk8-pJkX8
