: I am so goddamn bored of half of my play time being spent in turtle mode
I think what often makes situations like this nearly insurmountable is bad ward coverage (often from a total lack of warding, little warding, or poorly chosen ward positions during these critical phases, including around objectives, even when there was opportunity, like say the enemy team backed). It can truly make the difference between being able to farm lanes/jungle, and not being able to do a damn thing, at least I feel that is the case. If the enemy team is fed enough though.. or even if they just have certain champions like Rengar fed, it can be very oppressive if they spot you (perhaps with deep wards of their own in your territory) and can close the gap. There's also something to be said for sweeping for wards/everyone laying down Control Wards to make sure they don't see everything you're trying to do, and can easily ambush your team. Also, I'm not immune to falling for relatively obvious baiting by the enemy that results in us getting killed, but all too often my teammates seem to fall for it (chasing after people who have backup on the way, or waiting to ambush you).

: Imo, dodging punishment tiers should drop per games played, not by time.
As far as I know the dodge timer is 16 hours rather than 24, unless that changed. Regarding your suggestion, I see no reason why they couldn't add it. Whichever comes first, 16 hours, or something like 10 games since your last dodge would reset the dodge punishment tier to 1 (so you'd be back to -3 LP and a 5 minute dodge timer). As long as it doesn't completely replace the 16 hour reset, since I imagine plenty of people don't play 10 games within 16 hours, or even within a few days (in which case the 16 hour window we currently have would be much better for them). Basically if they added your suggestion to what already exists instead of replacing what we have, that wouldn't be bad I suppose.

I think "/mute all" (the only command I've been using) must do it.. I think it's also muting everyone's pings now instead of just the chat? : "2" verbal abuse warrant 14 day ban? guess i said some magic words, no previous bans in many years
If someone bans your pick and then someone dodges (whether it's you who dodges or someone else), that's your chance to leave queue and find a different lobby of people who probably won't intentionally ban your pick. As far as people doing things that "caused my actions", by trolling you, Riot will never see it that way, and you will get perma-banned not long from now if you fail to abide by that. If you need to, disable all-chat, and type "/mute all" (without quotes) at the start of games so you don't have to even read what teammates say. That might help keep you from saying things that will get you banned.

Shaco boxes are ranged. I'd say the best solution (As a Crit AD Shaco main and fan of Pink Ward), is to not disable them when revealed but instead shorten the activation range when revealed (but keep the activation range the same when not revealed). This way melee characters can destroy them with auto attacks, but if they get backed into a corner and have to run because they're likely to die after being caught out of position, the box can still fear/attack them if they get within that shortened activation range while revealed. This way they have to make a choice and can't just run past them (unless they can run between them due to the shortened activation range). Either they have to quickly destroy the box, or find another way around, possibly being forced to burn a dash/flash, or use an ability if they have one to destroy the box/es which would then be on cooldown and wouldn't be up for any fight that may take place shortly after. It essentially makes them behave like Teemo shrooms when revealed in terms of everyone being able to auto attack them, and you can still detonate/activate them if you get too close. As long as boxes have the same range they do now when not revealed, I feel reducing their activation range when revealed is a fair compromise, but not making them unable to activate at all until the reveal ends, that's too much.

So one person just uses a script to downvote a topic within (probably) less than a minute on multiple accounts, possibly using an IP changing VPN bot or something. Then they hope people will see the downvotes and proceed to let that alter their opinion and also downvote. And if that doesn't work I guess they can just turn on the bot again to make it majority downvotes.

: SoloQ ... should be Solo or Duo
This thread was at +8 votes like 20 minutes ago, all of a sudden -5 (13 negative votes).. someone spamming votes with alt accounts? Considering this topic was made 3 hours ago and such a big surge of votes happened all at once, I'd say something fishy may have happened. Maybe the boosters making money off of duos being a thing got mad?
: They tried making it solo only one time. People absolutely lost their shit.
All the people making money off of boosting using duos?
Sydney26 (EUW)
: SoloQ ... should be Solo or Duo
Solo only would be great. You can't account for how good or bad a duo will be. Sometimes your team gets a terrible duo and the enemy team gets a great one, or vice versa. I'd rather know everyone is playing on even terms.. only time it would not be the case is if the randoms get on a Discord someone links to. But given that's pretty much the only way, I'd be willing to accept that. Removing duos would be a lot better in general. They can join Flex Queue.
: Why Shaco should not be buffed.
A lore buff would be nice.. they could just revert it so he's not a puppet anymore. Even though he never got new additions to lore prior (and hasn't since the puppet change afaik), I was happier with the old lore.. and his new walking animation is a little too goofy for me (supposed to give a puppet feel I'd assume). As for an in-game buff, his boxes (W) should not activate when revealed (they'd still be able to fear/attack you if you get too close, instead of the fear being wasted and the 5 second duration of its damage potential too). Someone else suggested in another topic lowering their activation range when revealed so melee characters with as low as 125 AA range can destroy them without using abilities, like Teemo shrooms. As it is now a free level 1 item can clear a minefield of them during the 10 second duration without attacking, using Oracle Lens. Control Wards also work similarly for denying his boxes. Against someone who knows this, Shaco basically doesn't have a W. This would mostly be a buff for AP Shaco (buffing the W), which is already comparatively weak (compared with AD Shaco). It would benefit AD Shaco too, but AP gets a lot more out of it because of box duration increasing (time they can remain stealthed before dying without being used), and damage. While they're at it, give the E adaptive damage so AP Shaco isn't doing physical damage (even though it also scales with AP).. unless AP Shaco likes having mixed damage. Chances are though they'd rather have it deal magic damage, since if their whole team goes AD for example, Shaco's E would be a whole lot more useful being adaptive damage, so that the enemies aren't building defensive items (armor in this case) that counter his E in its current state.

It's not a fix, just a workaround, but you could save a copy while you're writing in something like Notepad or Word on your _**phone**_ just in case (not sure what program you'd actually use or have as options). Something like Notepad won't keep things like bolded or italicized words, but I still tend to use it more on my PC. Does this never happen when you type up posts on other websites? I don't recall this being an issue for me here and have not encountered it elsewhere. Then again I've not tried making posts on my phone.

What they're suggesting would be a buff to Shaco's boxes. Right now revealing them activates them so they're almost useless, and one Oracle Lens activation can clean a whole minefield of them with no effort. They're suggesting making it so they don't activate, but instead are only revealed, and you'd either have to go around or destroy them to get past.. or let yourself get feared/damaged if you're tanky enough and have tons of tenacity so you can ignore the fear almost, I suppose.

This sounds fait for both Shaco and the enemy because Shaco box should NOT activate and die even if the enemy doesn't kill it, the item is free and available at level 1. like come on. But if the box gets stunned that means it won't activate I'm assuming, and so they can just run past it because it's no threat. If they have to destroy them to go past that's better for Shaco. Like I said I like the guy's suggestion above to lower the activation range when the boxes are revealed, so that melee characters can destroy them with auto attacks (but will still get feared/attacked if they get too close). The activation range would be the same as now though when not revealed. And yes of course if they don't destroy the boxes before the reveal ends or they go out of reveal range, the boxes are stealthed again. In either case yes I recently made a whole topic about how boxes should only be revealed and not activated for the reasons you just stated.
: Revealing Shaco boxes, ..
Unless they changed it very recently, revealing boxes activates the traps and you shouldn't get feared as a result. They take 5 seconds to die once activated unless they are destroyed by a champion/tower/minion/jungle camp first. I _**wish**_ revealing did something like what you described though. And that's actually a good idea, keep the range normal when not revealed, and lower the activation range of the boxes once they are revealed so melee characters can hit them with auto attacks. Seems better than my idea I posted about recently that suggested lowering the range of the boxes at all times so that melee characters could attack them once revealed. My suggestion would have been a bigger nerf to the boxes, yours would be a healthier compromise.

: Why is there no reduced lp loss for an afk?
If I understand you right, you can afk in fountain during 2 Ranked games every week without significant punishment? If that's the case.. I feel like there is not much difference made to the experience were they to reduce the LP lost significantly for those on the same team who were not afk... as far as abuse a duo would at most be able to do it 4 times a week. A 5 person team would be able to do it 10 times a week. Perhaps if there were a consistent pattern that indicated they were intentionally abusing the system, there would be automatic flags to Riot staff that can lead to punishment. They could also punish the one who afks by making them have slightly lowered LP gains for maybe a few games to balance it out.
: Why does rank still have duo q when there is flex ?
Yeah.. and I think occasionally you get the double whammy of having a bad duo while the opposition has a good one. I think you can even have two duos on one team.. not sure if this was the case before they did dynamic queue. Doesn't make much sense to have people who know each other and communicate well and won't easily rage at each other, against random strangers. It is a factor that completely changes the "solo queue" experience in a way I think too few recognize. Remove duos from solo queue, they can join Flex.

Has Riot done some sort of massive survey on several possible walks and this one won? It's an _okay_ walk, the old walk could use an update but I'm not sure I would have chosen this walk if presented with several good options, or the puppet story reboot for Shaco for that matter. They were probably going for the puppet being moved on strings you can't see look, for this new walk. I can ignore the animation, it doesn't bother me much, just a little off-putting. They mentioned that if you want to try the new placement system, you'd have to do it in a Ranked queue you haven't done placements in during 2018's season. The part that said I believe "no resets" was about the fact that resets don't happen during preseason. As far as I can tell, basically when the season starts, you play one game and it gives you a base rank that only you see, and then you do your placements. You can't lose LP from losses, but wins cause large gains, and at the end of placements you get your starting rank for the season. I'm not sure how placements worked in terms of LP gain/loss and how it affected your final rank before this. It could be it's mostly the same but they're simply making it more transparent, but it could be that you can start off as a much higher rank if you do well under this new system. I wonder if you start at Silver 1, and gain enough LP, it would push you into Gold without having to do the promotion matches, or if it would just force you to stay at Silver 1 100 LP until you're finished your placements, then you can do your promotion matches. Would be nice if it just shifted you into Gold when you gain enough LP.

: Don't dodge if you don't get your champ
I can agree that one should never expect to get to play the newly released champion much until maybe a few weeks after release, assuming it's not so op people pick/ban it even at that time. If you do get to play it much during the next little while you're probably lucky. One thing I don't like is people who aren't good at the new champion thinking they can take it into ranked and not be dead weight. And for that reason I understand people wanting to ban new champs even if people on their own team wanted to play it, though I don't do that myself.

I don't understand the appeal of watching a high elo player stomp noobs in lower ranks. It's like enjoying watching Michael Jordan beat children at basketball and being proud of it. But if two high elo players duo together consistently in low ranks to stomp, with microphone communication and everything, that brings it to another level of scummy feeling for me.
: Why do people want the tank meta back?
From what little reading I've done in recent weeks it's almost as if tank meta never existed and it would be the best thing ever. Can't say I agree with them.
: Dark Harvest Math?
I think the ability used once per regular cooldown even with high stacks (until a certain threshold) isn't what's so strong about it. It's that with an assist or kill (both of which are considered "takedowns") you can use it again 1.5 seconds later against the same or a different enemy champion (the same for example, if you hit one person below 50% health, kill someone else or get an assist, then hit that other person who was below 50% health 1.5 seconds later). Your team can do the same, and if you had 5 champs that dark harvest is good for, you could as a team repeatedly use dark harvest as a group of 5 against individuals, resetting it with each kill/assist for everyone. It has the potential to be very strong theoretically. It was nerfed in a hotfix so it's probably not as broken, but it seems people still think it's strong (looking at the forums at least). I haven't played enough games recently to know if it is op for sure myself.
: Is it just me or did turret plating so absolutely nothing?
Maybe when you destroy the plates, you should have to take down the regular tower underneath it? Perhaps the closer to 14 minutes it is, the less regular health the tower would have depending on the number of plates you managed to destroy, with 50% or so being the minimum normal tower health it can have, if you for example destroyed all but one plate before 14 minutes.

The problem is this type of player throws any chance of a comeback by focusing on flaming. Well honestly, I've had both scenarios, where (I believe) muting helped us win or didn't, but at least muting helped me enjoy the match as much as possible. I've been consciously aware of games where I should have muted teammates sooner (or at all) but didn't, and I feel like the game was more likely lost because I felt less willing to try and win after seeing some of the (often ignorant) things one or more of my teammates may have shared. There are times where I felt like muting (sometimes my whole team) actually allowed us to win, because I played better in certain ways, including by not being distracted by text and other things that took me out of playing optimally. Other games it won't matter, but having the option to mute can actually help you focus enough to convince at least enough of your team (possibly even the flamer/s) to give that match a chance, often without ever saying a word, but just through the example of your actions in game. I tend to not talk much in matches and just focus on important information, and I have All Chat turned off by default, since I don't feel like trying to manipulate my enemies into tilting, and there's no other possible useful communication that could happen which would lead me to a win in All Chat (other than enemies giving us information that help our team beat them, like saying someone went afk, assuming they don't come back long enough for us to take advantage). Yes I miss out on some interesting, funny and/or friendly banter, but overall I feel like it would reduce my enjoyment and performance enough for it to feel worthwhile to keep All Chat off. As a result I probably never see quite a bit of flaming that my allies might put in All Chat, and they neglect to possibly entirely make their feelings known in Team Chat, and if not, at least for the most part (hopefully). If not, I mute those who probably are only going to do more harm to the team than good if I or others were to respond. If someone on my team who I haven't muted starts bickering back, I might ask them to please just focus on the game, or please stop arguing. I also benefit from not seeing my adversaries who may be flaming myself or another teammate. Sometimes you get flamed simply for playing a certain champion, whether you're doing well or not, and I find this annoying. It's nice when someone on the other team acknowledges you in a positive way though. :) I love having the option at least, even if it's pretty much a guaranteed loss, I can enjoy myself significantly more with the option to mute specific players, both their text or their pings separately. I agree morale is very important, and sometimes it's worth even trying to make games with flamers work towards a victory. Other than sabotaging the game to get it over with sooner (which you're not supposed to do), or asking people to forfeit, my only other option is to play the game I'm stuck in as well as I can (despite whether I like one or more people on my team that match).

: In my experience if you have a teammate who is intent on flaming you the game is pretty much over. It doesn't matter what you do or say. That player has lost focus on the game and won't make smart decisions. Instead he will constantly hit tab and look at your items and ping them or ? ping you, or ping your champ, etc... Coming back from behind is a matter of patience and discipline, and a little bit of luck because your team has to not get run over while you catch up. But this is unlikely in a game when your team or even just a single teammate has turned their focus from playing the game to flaming you. Team morale is really important.

Although it sucks to do so because you miss out on potentially useful pings.. once they start doing that and it becomes annoying enough, at least you've the choice to mute their pings.

: So, when are we nerfing Master Freelo?
[Refreshed the page as I was finishing this and saw another response with similar points, but I'll post this anyways.] As far as I know he's considered weak in high ELO, and stomps in low ELO because people don't know how to deal with him as a team (including selecting champions that counter, as in, have hard CC and sufficient damage to kill him while he's CCd; Lulu polymorph is probably among the best). He's never (or is he?) picked in pro matches because afaik he becomes useless with decent teamwork and team composition. If he can't get a kill to reset his Ult timer, he's not able to do much after that. So if someone doesn't get caught out, and if the team does not fail to peel for their ADC, Yi should become irrelevant. Anything can happen in Solo Queue though, due to a frequent lack of (among other things) team coordination, especially in lower ELOs. That's about all that needs to be said.

: WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING?!? Please, someone explain - Unfair Matchmaking!!!!!!
Normal & Ranked are separate MMR I believe. If I'm right a challenger player who's never played Normals could end up in your game because their Normals MMR doesn't yet have enough data to place them higher. They'd have to win a good number of Normal games before they end up in games higher than say the equivalent of Gold ranked MMR. It's entirely possible that they'd play their first Normals match against Bronze 5 players if they've never or only rarely played Normals on that account. If someone who mains one or more roles in Ranked plays other roles (or who has never/rarely played certain champions and is trying them out) in Normals, they could be playing at a significantly lower level and end up matched in Gold or so MMR equivalent games, when they'd normally be Diamond+ in their main role/roles. That being said, all of their experience is probably going to make them generally better at the game even when first timing a champion/role than much lower MMR players. Normals is known for this issue.
: Remove the Honor System
Report them, they will go down in honor levels (or perhaps just not go up and remain where they are, assuming it's a more rare occurrence) if they deserve the reports they get, if it's consistent enough behavior. Personally I don't honor toxic people, I do keep All Chat off so I've no idea if people are being toxic there, but if they're being toxic on team chat, they will not get my honor.
: Jungler Watches Me Die Instead of Helping. Stop the stupidity.
Sounds like Eve was pinging her intent to have a front-row seat to your 1-on-1 match? Idk man. lol Probably the Bronze 4/5 match had something to do with it, but that's still pretty bad on Eve's end. Draven was doing well too (perhaps having something to do with you going on tilt after that death) and he'd be able to close out a game better than Morg usually, the kills were pretty even (41-43) by the end of the game. You also had a couple dragon advantage. Tilt sucks but at this point (in my time spent playing LoL) something like that I'd just assume was trolling/lag on their end and would play but not trust them to followup after that. Even though I have continued to play even after I start losing games due to lack of enthusiasm and/or being on tilt, it's smart to stop and do something else (especially if you've gone up in ranks and don't want to go down in a series of losses). I burned myself out grinding games to rank up pretty quickly (for me) not long ago, and started playing other games, a little while later I started having some interest to play LoL again.

: Dodging In Ranked
16 hours. http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Queue_dodging > All queues dodges give time penalties that prevent you from queuing again immediately after. Those are increased for subsequent queue dodges within a 16-hour window. This time penalty is shared between the various queues, except for ranked team queue. So if you dodge at 2:34pm, you can dodge again at 6:34am the next day and only lose 3 LP. But if you dodge before that the 16-hour window resets.
: How hard is shaco to learn
Pinkward is another player of Shaco I'd recommend, he has some very good strategic plays he pulls off in terms of trickery and mind games. Shaco is yes generally considered easy to learn the basics of, but in terms of mastery one of the hardest to be effective with at higher ranks. He's also considered pretty weak at higher ranks compared to many other champions one could choose to main. Hasn't stopped me from trying though since I enjoy playing Shaco enough, so far I've made it to Platinum III using almost only glass cannon AD crit Shaco. He's in an odd place since if you build glass cannon like me he still can't 1v1 a lot of champs even if he catches them by surprise, is a few kills ahead and ahead in levels, you have to learn Shaco's limits so you don't suicide/feed (this is more true earlier in the game before you have several items, when you do have them it seems easier to 1v1 more of those champs, but it's still often risky). It's generally wiser to wait to catch people who don't have allies around who you ARE capable of killing, or wait to have backup before you go in. Waiting until your allies engage is often smart, though sometimes I feel like going in on their ADC/APC and sometimes support before my allies engage is the right move, as long as your team is able (and chooses to) follow up. It may be necessary to ping your intent to go in since allies don't always seem to notice you going into the enemy backline. You've to keep in mind enemy abilities that reveal you (Rengar Ult if you're the closest champion to him for example), as well as sweeping lens and control wards. He's nice for split pushing if you have the kind of item loadout I take since he's very capable of escaping, and can destroy both minions and towers/inhibs/nexus very quickly, but if allies try coming with you it can be problematic since they probably won't be able to escape (if your intent was to push the lane, try for a tower maybe, and get out using Shaco's kit with a small margin of safety, during situations that would get most champions caught and killed), allies following me during a split push, or refusing to join the team and stop splitting so I could split has lost games for me in the past (they would go too deep and get caught, usually multiple times or at a particularly bad point later in the game when we needed them to live, not sure if they were just bad/tilted/had given up/were inting at that point).

: Pre-Game Internet Check for in-game Stability
I recently installed the desktop version of Speedtest, which includes the packet loss and jitter readings the now closed service Pingtest used to. When my jitter and packet loss were bad, I knew it was a bad idea to try to play online games in any serious manner. Packet loss and jitter doesn't show up by default in the results after a test. Once you've done a test you've to click the button in the top-right corner (three lines) then click one of your test results, and on that window the packet loss and jitter will show up. http://www.speedtest.net/apps/desktop
