You usually have to have some form of extreme disengage to get out of a teamfight, and if you're coming from behind, even if you back out once the shield is up they deal with the rest of your team they're going to chase you down and kill you anyways. Janna ult or Malphite ult are one of the few abilities I can see for getting out of a teamfight. Not all teamfights are planned on your side though.
At that point it means your team didn't play to the game. Meaning your support didn't match/counter items, your team comp didn't match/counter theirs. If it's a sheer level difference, your team didn't perform to the early game BEFORE the items were purchased. Any shield can be baited out - especially if you see them planning a fight against you and you know it's coming. Usually rather obvious by bait maneuvers, hovering, poking. As a support main, I can tell you that those two shields together are of course strong - but they are also incredibly hard to hold on to. If the support holds on to them, easy picks. If they blow them, large window of downtime to work with.

When it's 5v5 and the rest of your team is fighting, and you're an assassin going to kill a priority target, and they locket/face of mountain/redemption them, it's going to be a lost teamfight no matter what, if you back off it'll just be a 4v5. Face is 4 seconds, Locket is 2.5, so I'm supposed to back off for 4 seconds in the middle of a teamfight then go back in? My teammates will be dead by that time.
1) If you commit anyway after seeing the shield it's 5 dead instead of 4. 2) If your team mates can't back out after seeing a shield pop (or start a fight without baiting it out first), they deserve to die. 3) If your team doesn't know HOW to bait that shield, you shouldn't even be thinking about diving.

Tired of hearing/seeing so much whining based around surrendering in game and on the boards.

: I don't think you need a whole new account, I just spend a lot of time on Youtube lol.
I'm a hands on learner - I can watch all day long, but until I do it with my hands, it won't stick. I watch a lot of youtube too and have also paid for and gotten free coaching along the way. But honestly what helped me most was a brand new account and "playing dumb" while really focusing on learning.

: Boards diffuse constructive debate and encourage bad behavior - v2
I hate these boards. I leave them for months on end before coming back with a question, get sucked into reading, get irritated, then leave again for another several months. I've actually given up on bug reports because of this forum structure.
: {{item:3222}} is a relatively inexpensive item. Removes CC from an ally and grants them a shield; so, it could help in neutralizing Pantheon's combo. He is a duelist; so, just know which of your allies he'll focus and you should be able to protect them.
I was torn between that and Randuins - thank you for the information! Locket is my go-to for a snowballing mage for "team mr" - I realized I had no clue what "team armor" would come in.
: vs panth the best thing is armor and hp... his damage is all physical if possible pick tanker supports and if he is wrecking you that hard then randiums is a must have so get your sight stone and 2nd tier gold item and then go randiums you wont see a panth support very often
He was top, not support. Thank you for the information!

: TL;DR I recommend Janna -- Which may sound like a harder task, but because she's so squishy it means what you do that's comparable as Nami is worth more with Janna...? Just kidding. Her squishier self might lower the margin a bit, but at the same time with all your CC the bar might raise more than it lowers. So really Janna, I feel, is good for learning how to play an extremely active, often in the eye-of-the-storm, support (sometimes to the point where you're accidentally getting kills with your W) that is, in fact, a support character - as opposed to being Veigar or heaven forbid another Brand. At least, that's my experience. I went from playing Leona, Blitz and Morg for supps, starting to experiment with Nami, Soraka and finally Janna. Before I knew it I was getting the S range of rankings with Janna without even meaning to. Perhaps it was getting Forecast and then FNATIC from hextech that subconsciously motivated me, who knows. -- I'll be the first to admit that my most recent match history hasn't been stellar - the curse of the final key fragment quest! Among them, though, there are more wins with Janna than other champs. One thing that's a fine art and perhaps more possible to learn with Janna than with any other champ: the art of being all but always helpful, while earning not but a single death. Her kit just feels designed for it, even if you don't get CDR boots. I'll never forget that 3/0/29. If I die even once in a match as Janna now, I'll almost always find a way that I could've avoided it in retrospect. Again, it just feels like her kit is designed for it.
(see my post above, just realized this is the same person)
: There's also a combination of ward duration and map area revealed. How much vision (area+duration) are you supplying per minute. Duration is easy to understand, how long do your wards stay out compared to time played. Area Revealed is this... A ward under you tower where you already have vision isn't worth anything. A ward in a bush against a wall is worth some "points". A ward in the middle of the river or lane maximizes vision the most "points". Example: A ward for it's full duration in the back of the baron pit is worth less than a ward in the front of the pit because of area revealed.

: Jumped in the other day after days of not playing much. 2 straight up S-ranks back-to-back, an abysmal game and then finally the 3rd and still unexpected S-rank for all 3 Mastery 7 tokens. I had over 50% kill participation in those matches and my team was great, but I just believe all the more that Janna really trains you to learn how to be as efficient as possible while minimizing casualties - your own and those of teammates. I really think that experience can be valuable to earning S-ranks with other supports who train you to be a little too aggressive thanks to their kits, but I'll see about getting S-rank with other supports now, among other roles.

: When a Player goes red
You've seen the ragers in silver and lower. You implement something like this and the toxicity will skyrocket - when someone gets mad at another player (or just plain loses lane), they will do everything they can to make another player rage quit so they can get the loss prevention.
: Trying to carry a bronze game is a waist of time
If its any consolation I did the same. I placed Silver on the new account. Came back to my low B5 account and climbed to B4 in 4 games. Working my way through 30 levels and placements was a good reset for my mentality, and placing in Silver was the slight ego boost I needed to make those riskier plays that are now winning games. Yes, I know placing Silver right out is neutral ground (game will filter you down to where you're "supposed" to be), but knowing I have a Silver account and was still winning/loosing games in it just as if it were a Bronze account just made me feel better all around and has made a huge difference on the Bronze one. It's a good tilt reset. ETA: I also climbed those four games mostly as support. It can be done ;)
: Queue up with a decent ADC/JG... Your grade really relies on them being good too.
That's an interesting thought. Hadn't heard the "specs" on that one, but it would make some sense.
: Wards
Everyone says "wards"... 37 wards in a 45 minute game is not enough?

: Sej support works very well where I am (low, of course) - but not for most given reasons. I also play Leona and Malphite so I have a good basis for an argument. That being said, Sej probably has the longer ult (or Malph), but her other three abilities are rather quick to come back up. Sej probably suffers the most early game, but not nearly enough to make her feel useless.
I should have probably made my argument. I would happily pick Nami over any of the above right now, but if I had to go tank, I would grab Sej if they have a mobile team and Leo if they have a pushy one. I'd grab Malph last, but that is just personal preference. I feel like Sej has more AOE potential and therefore good peel AND initiation. I am a support/ADC main, and I would both take and play with a Sej support.
: Need feedback on Sej support.

: I dont know about him but for me its just any key such as enter, shift, esc, tab, option, command, control. press any two of them together and try for 30 seconds
This wasn't true on my side. It may be a different bug entirely. I know because I can never remember the Mac keyboard shortcut to Force Quit, and I did a lot of random button mashing (my bug wouldn't let me alt tab out of the screen either). Just Enter alone is what fixed mine. Haven't had a problem since, but also haven't done any game spectating since either.
: Do you mean just press the Enter button?
: yes, i am on a mac
Press Enter on the black screen. Solved for me.
: Same here. Submitted a ticket, hopefully it will get resolved soon.

: Hey Nova Skye - Thank you so much! Eep, thanks for the heads up on the site, too! Phew, okay. I'm glad there's at least a temporary workaround for this until we can get it all sorted out. Thanks again for taking the time to bring this up and follow up with more info. ^-^
I should also say that now that I know what causes the bug, and a work around for fixing it, if you want me to break my game and retrieve other information for you, I will be happy to do so.

: Hello, Katey! I'm having the same problem. Here are one of the logs. http://justpaste.it/r0jd (Currently running OS X El Capitan (ver. 10.11.3) EDIT: As I commented, pressing the ENTER key on the black screen gets the game to load. After doing this once, all games load regularly.
: Hey again, can you grab me some [client logs](https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/201752674-Network-System-and-League-of-Legends-Logs#wq8)? Could you also try repairing you client? If that doesn't work, we can try a fresh install. We're thinking it may be unrelated to spectate, but want to be totally sure. Thanks!
I just now replicated the bug to get you the most up to date log I could. The concerns in the two comments before this are valid. I haven't tried to hit the Enter button yet as I didn't want to skew data. I have tried a Repair AND a fresh Install last night, with no difference. Repair through the options menu. Fresh Install by dragging the application to the trash can, emptying it, and redownloading the game. Moved icon back into Applications folder and ran it to install. Here is the log text: http://justpaste.it/r0o5 NOTE: The link you provided has a "bug" itself. The address to the log is not complete. Currently says: Applications/League of Legends/Contents/LOL/RADS/lol_air_client/releases/[VERSION NUMBER]/deploy/bin/logs Should be: Applications/League of Legends/Contents/LOL/RADS/**projects**/lol_air_client...... EDIT: I can CONFIRM that the "Enter" button makes the game load. So somewhere hidden a command is waiting for a prompt. I hope this helps clear up the bug!!! Link to the log for the game that loaded: http://justpaste.it/r0ol
: Queue Dodge when in champ sel and invited to game
While the circumstances do suggest a bug, it's a well-known fact that once champ select starts any sort of disconnect is considered a dodge. The bug isn't the dodge penalty, but the fact in that you didn't completely leave the lobby yourself and had to wait for the timer to run down to get kicked out.

: New Champ Select keeps switching default masteries, skins
I have seen this too. I play roughly the same champs every game (depending on position, of course). My only complaint comes in that I feel like the time frame is shorter to set everything up. It might not be - it might just be "test anxiety" as the queue seems to feel much faster paced, but I have noticed that between making sure that my masters/summoners/skins are correct, my champ is correct, and I properly ban when it's my turn, I have very limited awareness of what the other team actually chose/banned. But then again, I may just be special :P
: I had the exact same problem. Happily playing league with my mate, then we notice our other friend is 30 minutes into a game so we decide to wait for him, and in the meantime we will spectate. Both of us soon realise that we are unable to spectate him, we then see the notice mentioning the Sona bug and ask our mate if Sona is in the game, he confirms a Sona is on the other team. RIP spectating his game, so we decide to just pass the time on youtube until he has finished. 10 minutes later when he has finished his game we party up, and find a game, champ select goes great, our team is looking on point. GG2EZ is looking to be confirmed. But then after champ select I get hit with a dreaded black screen, just as I am about to let my friends know, my other friend (the one who attempted to spectate our third friend) says RIP black screen. Sceptical, we both restart our computer, to no prevail. After two more restarts we give up, somehow we get a victory in this game, due to new Shen being an unknown carry but thats besides the point. I have since tried custom games, spectating other peoples games, attempted to play on my smurf numerous amounts of times, I even reinstalled, twice. All of these have had no effect. RIP ip boost this week for OCE, RIP playing with friends on holidays before Uni starts again, RIP spectate bug 'not affecting all game modes'. RIP
Ug losing the IP Boost would be the worst! I would be putting in a support ticket and requesting an extension on that one.
: Hey Nova Skye, Thank you for the report! The Spectator bug does affect all game modes when spectating a game with Sona in it. We're working to resolve this ASAP!
I just want to be sure we are speaking the same language. I spectated a game that had a Sona in it (I didn't know it at the time) - but now I can't PLAY any game mode since. I see there are several cries for help on Macs suddenly not being able to play. I was mainly posting to see if by chance the Sona bug is triggering the Mac bug at the same time. I had been playing fine all morning until that spectating game. Now I seem to have the black screen that is keeping other Mac players from getting into their games. Now, I am Leagueless for the weekend, and this really makes me sad! I was really looking forward to having a weekend to just play, but now I can't. I had some brand new skins from the Lunar shop...

Same. I have a ticket in and I'm dealing with someone on this, but so far all the advise hasn't fixed it yet.

: Same problem here. Couldn't be solved even after I reinstalled the game.
Yea I did a Repair, and a Reinstall. This was one of the weekends I could have actually binge-played!
: After champ select, i get a black loading screen.
If you are on a Mac, don't load up for a game. Mine just started this and once it started there has been nothing to right it as of yet.
