Answering the same question again, listening to the same complaint from another person who must genuinely believes they're smarter than all the people who do this for a living and know the workings of areas of the business the person with with the revolutionary ideas doesn't even know existed is truly infuriating But not telling them to shove it is part of the job.
: Riot Doesn't Like Macro and it has Hurt the Game
While I can't deny you're opinion on the directionality of the game is leaning heavy to shorter, more action filled games, this shouldn't be confused with what any of the people currently at riot, or it's creators WANT. When you're a small indie gaming company, or when a large but privately owned one you can do what you want. Riot is not this. Riot is owned by a giant multinational conglomerate, Tencet. As mentioned in another post short duration games are killing it. More importantly they're actively bringing new players. What im about to say sucks, but it's a major factor. The ability to bring in new players is, from a profitability stand point, more important than keeping the people who are currently playing. Why? No matter how much you may love a game, even if you never pick up another, life happens and regardless of how happy current players are you will lose some of them. If you're not bringing in new players your game is dying, period. This is why riot is pushing the game towards more action oriented shorter games. Reportedly last year was the first year riot made less money than they did the year before. Did they still make a shit ton? Yes. But I've heard a VP of a company say, and I quote, you're either increasing your business or you're running a really long going out of business sale. That's the mentality of corporations. I've tried to pull friends into this game, because I really like it, and they ask about the game length, and I tell them it's gotten shorter, gashes are ending in 25-30 minutes most the time. The look of revulsion I received at the idea of investing that long in a single round spoke volumes. Riot doesn't hate macro, the general public does.
: The sharp spike in getting autofilled JG should be a wakeup call to Riot
I have a lot of thoughts on this I tracked where I was auto filled for a couple patches after the jungle changes and it was roughly equal to supp for me during that period. This is backed up here https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/developer-corner/VyEXF18K-quick-gameplay-thoughts-march-20 With riot's own data showing jg as the least favored role in NA. 1. I believe this is more of a problem the lower elo you go. As a jg you have to play around your teammates and the lower your elo the less reliable your teammates are in knowing things like how to get/ use lane priority, how to set up a wave for and pull off a dive, how to bait the opponent in for a gank, how to layer cc to ensure a kill and so on. This makes solo carrying harder, and requires more macro/decision making skills to carry. Which are both harder to do than carrying through damage, and generally less viscerally satisfying, so there's less people choosing the role. 2. The jungle changes were needed, get over it. Ask any adc main when the ardent censor meta ended how it feels to go from the most impactful person on the map to being at below average power. It sucks, and that's what happened in the jungle. The top of the ladder in every region was chalk full of junglers because they had to much agency. Top tier jungle players are still climbing, still winning. The role is lessened, but it's not remotely impossible to carry from jungle, you just can't one shot everyone to do it. 3. This is all pro plays fault. You know where dives are pulled off consistently? You know who's abusing lane priority properly? Pro junglers are still arguably the most overall impactful players on the map because of how much they can impact so many different areas of the map in an organized setting. The jungle position is imo entering the ryze balance zone where striking a balance between what organized teams and what 5 random players of less than great skill can do with it is becoming a problem.
: Ranked 2019 — /dev Update #3
Late to the party here, hopefully the dev team is still listening. As someone who is genuinely enjoying thes positional system there's some things I'd like to point out. 1. We're in a heavy snow ball meta. Yes, games are getting out of hand fast, but that's true from iron to pro play. I think everyone is pointing to positional ranking as 'the problem' because it's new when the are a lot of other factors in play. In games people are declaring gg at 10 minutes even on their main roles, and it legitimately feels valid because of the meta/damage creep etc. I think this is more of a factor to the non competitive feeling than people walking off the fountain not giving a damn. 2. In line with 1, while you could argue is actually a kind of parity, there seem to be more 1v9 snowball potential champions than I can ever remember. The match can have 10 unique bans and someone still picks a champion that makes you want to bang your head on the table because there are that many. 3. The mmr issues and positional both happened at the same time, but shouldn't be looked at as the same problem. If mmr can be corrected a fresh start of positional might yield better results. 4. We're still in a testing phase here and splashing is still being tinkered with. Have we considered making splashing much higher for people who play a large variety of roles constantly, but leaving it lower impact for people who specialize? Yes, if im a fill player only gaining/losing 3 lp in other roles I play often as well sucks, but I'd imagine it's really nice for one tricks. Has tightening the link on players consistently losing games in off roles x which I believe was mentioned as being put in place, had enough time to have an impact? There's a crap ton of stuff that's really great about this system. Please don't scrap it when there's so many other reasons for the complaints, and levers to use to address the ones that are legitimately systemic.
: THEORY: Is RIOT intentionally screwing up the game? (kinda but not really outrage marketing)
Holy moly did a simple theory turn into a shit storm here lol. I came to the same conclusion a while ago applying Occam's razor. What's simpler? Riot AND Tencet have become globally successful and ridiculously rich in spite of having no idea what they're doing. Or They know what they're doing and we don't understand it. Or even better, who is more likely to know how to keep this game successful in the long term A multinational gaming conglomerate armed with an army marketing, scientific, and psychological research experts Or Some one who barely managed not to alt-f4..... again.

I don't think the damage creep can be traced solely to the rune charges, but it's undoubtedly happened.

: Crit Item Explorations
Crazy, random, severely sleep deprived idea here. Has there been any thought given to the idea of decoupling crit chance and attack speed? Right ble you're trying to balance two majorly impactful offensive stats all at the same time. If it was possible to make these two separate things you could then add health, or resistance without the item needed to cost an obscene amount, or being over stacked. Jhin seems more easily balanced than a lot of the crit adcs, and while his itemization or the same he basically hits slow, but really freaking hard. This could hypothetically allow for some actual in game itemization choices. Their assassin it'sd getting ahead, let's hit really hard on that first shot to try to zone them off before they can engage (ad+100%crit). Their tank is becoming a problem (supposing you ever let tanks become relevant again) let's dps them down (as+true damage conversion). These changes may put crit adcs in a healthier spot which is good, but problem I see here is the satisfaction peice. Varus was really cool at the end of last season to me, because he actually had options, unlike most adcs. Comet poke lethality varus worked, lethal tempo on hit varus worked. There was even a pro game where the adc built ghost blade, but half way through the second item realized the game wasn't ending soon enough and switched to on hit. That's really cool to me. I played with a lee Sin jungle today who got real ahead early and built dusk blade first. My thought? That's gutsy. Is it optimal in most games? No. But it's a strategy based item choice, snow ball hard or die trying. I often did the same kind of thing playing J4. I was going to build either tiamat or serated dirk first, but the game state decided which. Crit adcs lack any flexibility at all, which to me is a large part of the lack of satisfaction, and these new items don't seem to change that.

Do you buy the Prestige Skins with RP? Or do you have to unlock them with Worlds Tokens? There will be a normal version of the skin available for purchase, that's the dark colored one with the pink hair. There may be chromas as well, that hasn't been confirmed either way. The prestige skin is exclusive to the worlds token event, and costs a whopping 2500 tokens. They're pitching it at the greatest thing since sliced bread, with special splash and vfx and everything above and beyond a normal chroma. But so far there's been no skin spotlight or anything for it, so I have nothing to go on but face value.

: If Riot is just going to try to lay low, we need to go over their heads.
So, reports come out about a culture of systemic harrassment that included allegations of RAPE happening at riot. These reports are backed up by a number of current af former riot employees. Player base response: Wow that sucks. That's shameful They should know better I hope this doesn't mess with the game. Riot sets up one room away from their main area specifically designed for getting information, resources, and contacts for minorities interested in entering tech companies like riot in the hopes of being able to diversify a workforce that is predominately white and Asian males, so they don't let men in. Player base response: Omg, this is bullshit! Sexist a**holes! Burn them all! Geez, I wonder why women might be more comfortable in an area men were kept out of....

The reason people are pissed is because excluding males for certain portions of the con (resume reviews, skin design, etc.) is not okay. It’s not just being forced to wait a little while, some of the events are ONLY run before 2:30. Sexism is sexism whether it is against males or females. I can almost guarantee if the booth was only open to males people would be protesting with picket signs outside the booth. And dont get me started on non-binary fairy tale bullshit :,)

But there can, and should be, a dialogue about it, not a shouting match. I believe coming at the issues from an angle of 'there's this good stuff I have going for me, but i think we need to work on this over here' makes that much more likely than 'OMG this disgrace is the worst thing that's ever happened, burn them all!' Which seems to be the mentality of most anyone bothered by anything.

: Honor needs a drastic overhaul. Riot can do better.
I see this kind of argument a lot, and it pretty much translates to this: "I have absolutely no self control or will power to control my own actions. Someone else made a sarcastic comment or mild critique of me which completely justifies me devolving into a toxic degenerate. Obviously I'm too awesome to be responsible for my own actions, so I demand riot rebuild the entire system, that only toxic people are complaining about, to suit my desires." Seriously, if you're that mentally/ emotionally unstable that you can't mute all instead of being a problem, I would recommend you start playing solitaire instead.

: Honestly we really should just revert runes
Let's chat, my friend. > 1-All the most popular runes involve more damage and offensive stats $30 t shirts with nothing but a company logo are also popular. Just because it's popular doesn't make it necessary, or the only option. > 2-Defensive rune tree sucks dick, for than you miss out on the great special abilities that the offensive rune trees give you So again, you WANT the damage stats, so you're CHOOSING those paths. Maybe it's my fondness for tanks, but resolve has a ton of really good runes IF you're willing to pass on some damage, which most people aren't. I get questioned about it but aftershock {{champion:254}} is really effective in my experience, but you HAVE to take electrocute, right? > 3- Half of the runes involve stacks that you get through kills, and are worthless if they don't stack, which puts the team that is behind at a even great disadvantage for they can't get their stacks. This.. this is an entirely valid point I had not previously considered. Given snowball is an issue they're looking at they should really review that function.

I think the problem is more that the two words, both of which offend certain groups, were treated differently. Had the been a space added between both letters to sneak it in, or symbols put in both I don't think it would have gotten the same reaction. Equality and all that jazz.
