: How do you know that they didn't get punished?
Because I checked their profile and they're still playing.
: Typically players don't actually get away with that sort of extreme behavior. Riot takes hate speech very seriously and it's one of the easiest ways to be given an escalated punishment, but you won't always be notified when your report contributes to a player being penalized. If someone's behavior is really severe and you think they were doing it in a way that avoids detection, you might submit a [Support Ticket](https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/requests/new). Concerning being punished for responding to trolls, I understand the frustration that leads to lashing out of them, I've had trolls here and there throughout my time playing too. There is a problem with responding to them in a negative way though; it doesn't actually stop them or teach them any lesson, and it stirs up drama and only exacerbates the negative environment for the rest of the players in the game too. The best thing you can do when you have a toxic player in your game is mute them so you and others can keep your cool and focus on the match instead of infighting. While muting does not stop a real troll from intentionally sabotaging the match, it does give you a better chance of winning despite them and makes the match more enjoyable when you don't have to listen to them, and you can report them after the game to help get them punished. It's never worth responding to a troll if they aren't going to care and it's going to make the game worse for your team or get you chat restricted.
: Let me guess - the game **just** ended, yes? Punishments don't always come within minutes, and you don't always get notified when someone is punished.
No, I played another game just to check and make sure. Checked again a few minutes ago. Still nothing.

: If you are playing this game for any other reason than to actually play the game then you are only negatively affecting the game experience. The system ensure all players involved in every game remain focused on playing the game. If you cannot exhibit self control and avoid getting into toxic situations with strangers then the system will administer a punishment and you can decide to reform or continue to be toxic. Riots system does its job and proctects the vast majority of the playerbase that wants a toxic free game experience with a focus on game play not bickering.
None of what you said negates the well documented flaws in RIot's disciplinary system. You could have saved us both from your long winded response.
: Respect for people who can mute right away
I go into every match and mute all. If one of my teammates starts acting out I stop trying. Easy way to not help trolls without getting punished.
: Why people are so quick to assume you are flaming them?
Because they know it's a Riot hot-word, so people are always going out of their ways to find reasons to report.

I didn't read it all, I stopped when you said Report Akali. Telling others to report someone is a reportable offense in itself because to Riot that is you trying to abuse their report system. You don't have to type in the game. You played yourself.
Yea, except no one saw Akali intentionally give away a tower except me. Oh no, he saw someone intentionally throwing the match and was frustrated by it!!! Ban him!!! he's evil!!! it must be stopped!!! We mist protect the trolls and intentional feeders!!!

That's a sad and pathetic way to play the game. And the fact that's the only way a player can play without getting banned is ever more sad and pathetic. I wonder why LoL competitors don't have these issues?

: Cursing is not against the rules either in game or on the boards. Period. Further, if you so not want people to give their honest assessment of your behavior, don't post a thread asking for such. When you post a thread asking for feedback, then you refuse to listen to said feedback, you are asking for harsher and harsher feedback to get you to listen.
- Foul of offensive language is against the rules. Stop lying. - I didn't create this thread or ask for your feedback? You're off topic and practicing harassing behaviors. It's toxic. Stop.
: Insults like fascist? You are the prime example of my whole point. I'm not allocating any more energy responding to you. Everyone here can see what type of person you are I don't need to explain this to you.
That's not an insult, but an observation. You are a prime example of your point. Go away with your toxicity.
: ***
- Toxicity is entirely subjective. What isn't toxic to you may be toxic to me, and vice versa-- a rudimentary concept. - Cursing is definitely against the rules. I've reported you for offensive language. - I don't know what you're talking about? I'm only responding to your posts. Why are you so upset?
: A lot of the toxicity in the boards can be seen here. One person in this thread, Ooduwa, uses toxic hyperbole. People respond with their dander up. Ooduwa continues to troll, and the situation escalates as it feeds on itself. Be calm and civil. If the other person isn't willing to do the same, report them and move on. It's not worth getting worked up over.
Why are you trying to provoke me? I don't appreciate the harassment, and would ask that you address me directly, albeit respectfully, if you have an issue with my conduct.
: No, this post is not toxic. OP is explaining his position rationally, and you're free to disagree, but he's allowed his opinion of the boards. The bottom line is that there **is** a lot of negative horseshit on these boards, but that does't mean they shouldn't exist.
- Toxicity is subjective, and it's toxic to me. - Horse-shit is a curse, and you shouldn't be using foul language. That's definitely toxic. Thinking about reporting you tbh.
: Riot: Plz give me the feedback popup for every person I report that gets punished. makes me smile

: i have very thick skin so i almost never type in chat unless its something that must be said thats constructive.when u get baited into the flame war you become the same as them.focus on the game less on what some guy in a game says that you'll never see again anyway.
You're only providing reasons for why Riot's system is so ridiculously backwards. "Don't speak to trolls that are ruining your expeirence, or you're in the wrong!" Where, outside of LoL, does this logic even add up? It's completely and entirely inane.
: > [{quoted}](name=Ooduwa,realm=NA,application-id=ZGEFLEUQ,discussion-id=EU0mzMYI,comment-id=000100010000000000000000,timestamp=2019-05-12T10:27:51.706+0000) > > ..Removed by Moderation.. What a hot take. I and many others talk in game all the time, and don't get banned. Because I'm an adult who plays this game for fun and knows to follow the rules I agreed to. Just mute, report, and move on. You seem to think calling a troll names is gonna make them stop trolling. It's a video game, if it gets you this mad you should take a break. I don't know why being a mature adult and ignoring trolls is some leftist conspiracy.
- I'm not banned, genius. So your elementary, "holier than thou", premise is flawed from the start. - Anyhow, you're apparently an adult that doesn't understand not all adults enjoy being overly policed for relatively tame, harmless behaviors. You have a lot of growing up to do, mate. - I seem to think I should retain the right to respond to or criticize people who are intentionally wasting my time and or ruining my experiences. Oh, the humanity! How will we go on if people are allowed to speak in less than glowing terms about one another? It can't be tolerated, as the foundations of world peace were constructed upon people not speaking to one another!
Míellá (NA)
: I don't really get how some guys behavior is riots fault.
They promote the behavior by allowing it. if they dedicated the same energy to stopping the above as they do in stopping "toxicity", you'd see less of it.
: It's absolutely ridiculous what people are allowed to get away with
People are fully allowed to troll, int, and ruin matches so long as they don't speak while doing so.
mack9112 (NA)
: I play league to play the game not to get in arguments with people over spitting contests and in my opinion everyone should be like that. There is no reason to get in arguements with people complete strangers over a video game it solves nothing. Play the game try your best mute people if they are being a negative to a team environment why do you need to prove anything to them. Your in game skill will say it all.
No one cares why you play league? As far as I know, no one asked. The reasons you play league don't detract from the obvious flaws in Riot's system. We all know it's trash. You don't have to embarrass yourself pretending otherwise. Riot isn't cutting you a check after all.
: > [{quoted}](name=Ooduwa,realm=NA,application-id=ZGEFLEUQ,discussion-id=EU0mzMYI,comment-id=000000000000000000000000,timestamp=2019-05-12T04:15:30.030+0000) > > But I didn't start fighting anyone? I laughed at flame. Oh, the humanity! Someone laughed at harassment. They must be stopped at once! Ooduwa: wtf Ooduwa: report akali Ooduwa: you're bad Ooduwa: she's a troll Ooduwa: report her Ooduwa: she literally sat under tower Ooduwa: let camille take it Ooduwa: ran off and hid Ooduwa: you'rebad Ooduwa: stop talking This is very clearly against the terms you agreed to.. like, I complain about this game more than anyone but you breaking the tos by being negative and saying "you're bad" over and over is just you breaking the terms that you agreed to when you made a league account. It's not riot's fault that you started annoying all the people in game who weren't arguing.
Of course, I'm supposed to watch a player literally stand mid lane, give away a tower, and say nothing. Because that's the human thing to do, not care or react! Some of you are so ridiculously over the top in your defense of the indefensible that it's impossible to take you seriously.

But nothing about reflects trolling? Trolling would be the players that constantly int, feed, and or ruin matches purposely. Those are the people that are allowed to plague matches without consequences. If Riot were truly doing a good job, so many of its players wouldn't share the same complaints.
rujitra (NA)
: Esports has nothing to do with player counts. Period. Many people I know have never touched League of Legends but watch it on stream or when pros are playing. Likewise, there are many players that don't touch esports. Riot is trying to find the balance between making a game for players, and making a game for viewers. **** Regardless, this is all off topic, so I encourage you both to start your own separate threads if you guys wish to discuss the game population.
The game is losing players + viewers. Also, I'm confident this is on topic, given I created the thread, and I'm presuming one of the causes behind Riot's waning popularity is it's overzealous, inane, and unethical disciplinary system.
: > [{quoted}](name=Ooduwa,realm=NA,application-id=ZGEFLEUQ,discussion-id=EU0mzMYI,comment-id=0000000000000000,timestamp=2019-05-12T02:09:23.770+0000) > > Yes, people like you. I.e. Sounds like you're the one defending nonsense, like "if I start fighting with someone it's not going to ruin the entire match for everyone else". Arguing doesn't make them stop trolling.
But I didn't start fighting anyone? I laughed at flame. Oh, the humanity! Someone laughed at harassment. They must be stopped at once!

: In real life you would not get in a BM war with somebody either ... at least I hope you would not. You being dramatic is what got you into this situation as shown by your own chat logs.
In real life I would play off harassment exactly as I did in this match. No illicit language, only laughs at ignorance. I don't understand people's desire for overbearing policing and disproportionate punitive punishments. Reveals a lot about contemporary American society.
: Oh, come on, that old article again? That's from 2018 and it's nothing creative or compelling. I've seen much better articles than that one and far more convincing, just to show like many before it that they were wrong. Man, you know how many people tried this? You're not saying anything new. I've seen many creative, math out, and convincing articles and theories than that. People make articles all the time. Doesn't mean any of it is true or anywhere accurate. And that article of last year is no different than any other article before it for the past 10 years. There were 6.9 billion people on this planet 10 years ago. Now there's 7.5 billion. The population of this game increases every year. Just leave. The game will be just fine without you. Your post doesn't impact anyone and nothing you said or will say will convince anyone. Those numbers don't speak for anything. Just another article among the millions before it and millions after it. That's a reality check.

Yes, people like you. I.e. People that go out of their way to defend nonsense no matter how illogical. I'm not on a break? I'm only pointing out the absurdity of RIot's disciplinary system. Try to keep up.
: According to a lot of players, the game been dying for the past 10 years. Even during beta when players were getting punished, they said the game won't even make it past its beta period. You're not the first and you won't be the last to say that this game is dying. In the next 10 years, another player like yourself who has no self-control or able to take responsibility for their own action will post another post much like yourself saying the game is dying. They'll continue to lash out and try to convince themselves that this game is dead. But here's the reality check. The game will be just fine. Regardless of your opinion. It was here 10 years ago today and it will be here 10 years from now. Nothing you can say will ever change that. Ever. {{sticker:sg-ahri-2}}
Numbers speak for themselves https://ginx.tv/lol/decline-of-league-of-legends/ So, yea, there will still be a player or two logging on to troll a match, but will it remain the giant it was through the mid 2010's? Nope, that much is clear. How's that for a reality check?
mack9112 (NA)
: In life you have to learn there is a time and a place for everything. In a game where every moment counts you spending your time getting into a spitting contest with a complete strangers resolves absolutely nothing and you become a part of the other problem. It takes two to start somethIng but only one to end it. Be the bigger person mute them mute there pings and play the game so the 8 other people can enjoy there match.
In real life none of the above would be a problem anywhere outside of a professional setting. Stop being so dramatic, it's ridiculous.
mack9112 (NA)
: Why let people on the internet get under your skin ? Do you realize you ruin games by continuing to engage with other toxic individuals as you become just as bad as them. Take this as an opportunity to improve.
I realize that Riot games is the only publisher out there that would ban a player for the above dialogue, and only because people like you blindly support an inane and unjust disciplinary system.
: You make it sound like you can't mute them and focus on the game. Just because someone initiate toxicity doesn't mean you get to sustain it. Riot doesn't debate, compare, or dispute.
