: Junglers, you should probably learn your Champion's Jungle Routes
: help im bad at jungle
Jungle routes are important. Here's the most succinct explanation of routes I've seen, Its also only 5 days old so its still relevant. https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/jBEYgGuB-junglers-you-should-probably-learn-your-champions-jungle-routes I used to be a terrible jg, now I think I'm average. Here are some specific tips that were helpful to me. 1) Take camps on the way to gank, typically power farming is the wrong choice. 2) Map awareness is extra important for junglers. The F1-5 keys will jump your camera to you teammates, so you can easily watch their lane. you can re-bind them in the menu so that yourself is F5, then F1-4 will follow the order on the score board. 3) If all you laners are pushing, be ready to counter gank. If you can get a deep ward in the enemy jungle it can help track them for counter ganks. Kindred is really difficult because of the way their passive works. any champ that is simple mechanically would be good to learn with, that way you can focus on map awareness and macro game. Nunu is pretty fun, easy clearing too, and their snowball makes ganking pretty simple. Rammus could be a good one. Hecarim maybe.

Ah, yes, that is dumb. Although I do see a lot of complaints about damage in general. yay we reached common ground :)

I mean, Shen is proof that an AoE taunt on a basic ability is feasible. The difference is that Shen doesn't do a lot of damage by himself. Galio's W would be fine, even with Flash functionality, if he did less damage. Problem then is that people want Galio to do damage, because old Galio did damage. So you're stuck with Galio conceptually wanting to be a tank but players wanting him to be a damage mage. Even his old kit had that weird divide, where his Q and E were purely poke mage abilities while his W and R were supportive tank abilities. From the start, Galio is supposed to be an anti-magic bulwark, dealing with mages. Old Galio did this by giving himself/an ally extra MR, and otherwise just poking with his Q and E to keep up in damage. New Galio, on the other hand, uses his knock-up E and more accessible taunt on W to get onto mages and keep them from doing mage things. So it comes down to: What should Galio do, deal big damage and try to kill mages, or deal incremental damage and wear down/lockdown mages? Personally, I think the latter fits Galio's theme/character more.
I agree the anti-mage thing fits Galios theme more. But dealing big damage seems to fit pre-rework Galio more. So I think Riot themselves are struggling with "what should Galio do?"

Yes. Different champions do different things. Whats you're point?

Problem is that with how support is being run these days (hyper damage mages, with ignite) tank supports have no place in this meta. I've been playing alot of Braum lately, and every match I've had has been fucking ridiculous Full-AP supports. Janna with deathcaps, Ludens and Liandry's, Soraka with the same. It's getting ridiculous.

I'm having more fun than ever. But I mostly play normals with friends.

: If they changed his w entirely he would legit be 0% of the old Galio instead of like 10%. Also Shen is in an ok spot (being buffed as we write this) but he is another champion that is very difficult to balance. Although a lot has changed in the game since he was last in competative Meta.
> If they changed his w entirely he would legit be 0% of the old Galio instead of like 10%. I acknowledged that in the other thread. : Anyone care to explain?
ADCs get range. Most assassins don't. If ranged DPS champions come online too early it creates a really boring meta - see 2017.
Galiö (NA)
: His new ult is boring as hell, prob one of the more boring ults in the game. Maybe ryze or veigar is more boring imo. It just looks cool. All it is is a drop down with some fancy effects and does the least damage in his Kit. Other than that, letting you control a drop after initial cast adds more power but all that'll do is make Galio more problematic in both SoloQ (Cause itll be somewhat usable) and in pro play cause itll give him more cross map presence and control which in turn would need him to be gutted more. And if all he is without his ult is his Q and E since his W would be gone he would feel useless OTHER than when he has his ult which would hurt SoloQ and be about the same in competative with the New R. Either way it's a lose/lose
I love his ult, just wish I could target it. ults have long cooldowns. it wouldn't be too different than shen's ult. Shen's is a decent spot balance wise, isn't he??? And I meant to imply that Galio would have a new, less powerful W. I certainly wouldn't want him to have just two basic abilities.

I agree, I was just trying to find a way to increase his survivability. Making a change like that makes him more flexible to AP and tank. His current W isn’t healthy and needs some changes, what do you think if boots of swiftness took away his 15 % slow (it currently doesn’t)
I think his W is boring.... although pre-rework Galio mains may disagree. Adding power to boring abilities is a poor way to spend a champions overall power budget. Riot has nerfed his W (not flashable, and now can be stopped by CC during the channel), I'm not sure any more power can be added to it without it becoming problematic. If I did like his W, I'd prb rework his Q -> His W, E, and R all put him in the middle of things. Turning his Q into something that fits his "in the middle of things" play style might feel better, even if the new Q was less powerful than his current. It could be as simple an empowered basic attack that is exactly like his passive ground slam thing. Idea snowball: get rid of Q. Galiö (NA)
: I mean Galios W was some of the weakest CC in the game. A decent AOE but the time it effects were relatively low (short period of CC, compared to other champion with hard CC) It was just the combination of his base damage and the lack of reaction time to his W. (Although it was predictable when he was going to catch you with decent cc/long wind up there still wasnt THAT much play around it.
His W isn't very fun, but is really powerful, at least in Riots eyes. If removing his W allows more power in the rest of his kit, then I'm for it. Galio's ult is one of the most exciting ults in the game. What if we added to it. 1) On first cast, Galio targets a teammate. And channels while he rises (like current state) 2) On second cast, Galio can target a location anywhere 700 units around the teammate he targeted on the first cast. Much more powerful, but if power is taken out of his W, maybe its okay? Thoughts?
: Riot really needs to focus on an item balance patch, introduce new options and change current items
> obscene damage in the game - > missing my combo 10 times while they do 0 damage to me how both? but on a more serious note, new items can be exciting. Maybe not active items, if the active effect is too powerful they can make every champion feel the same. And you can into problems where a champion should have a weakness but it's covered up by an active item. More strategy around vision would be cool. More exciting things to build as a support would be fun. Perhaps have ultra-late game items for like 7000 gold... idk. Bring back those risky items like sword of the ocult, but add one for tanks so they can carry if they get hot. What item-ideas do you have.
: ADC are useless ... once again
All the roles are reliant on their teammates to be successful. It can be especially frustrating for ADC's when they don't get the peel they need, that turns into a grey screen pretty fast. Tanks can initiate and not have their team follow up. Spilt pushers might have teammates that refuse to pressure the map. Assassins need their teammates to create openings for them. But staring at a grey screen can be more frustrating than any of those. But again, as hyper-carries, ADCs have some of the highest high-points too.
: On a more serious note, **how would you feel if they replaced his W with a simple form of CC **?: like Shen taunt or Rammus taunt? The last explanation I heard from Riot was that his W gave him too much power to force team fights.

I was just discussing Galio's W in another thread. https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/lxArs0fz-galio-is-zero-fun-anymore?comment=000300000001 > how would you feel if they replaced his W with a simple form of CC ?: like Shen taunt or Rammus taunt? The last explanation I heard from Riot was that his W gave him too much power to force team fights. Galios W, an AOE hard CC, is just too powerful. I don't think he'll ever be in a good spot as long as he has that. How about this: on first cast Galios gains X armor and magic resist for up to 12 seconds, and get a stack for each ability cast around him. On second cast, for the next 12 seconds galio gets Y amount of AP for each stack gathered during the first cast. This plays into his magic absorbing theme, and gives him a tool to survive being in the middle of things while also adding to his mage role. What do you think?

Galio's punches, especially his passive ground slam thing, feel awesome. I've tried to play him on-hit before just because of it... it does not work.
: It's been over a year since Taliyah was ruined, time to revert.
Low elo Taliyah main here. I think it's a fair nerf. I miss the AOE Q most in team fights. I used to feel like I did legit damage to front lines. **Perhaps a good compromise would be to add the AOE back if the Q first hits a champion.** What do you think? Side note: how do you use Taliyahs ult around objectives? I really only use it for ganks/escapes.
: It's getting really hard to take this game seriously anymore

: AP shyvana was what I spammed for all of season 8. not only was it effective it was fun and funny to watch.
AP Shv relies on her Dragon form to do anything, right? What was so fun/funny about it? Genuinely curious.
painteon (NA)
: I like the way shiv is right now but I understand what you mean. We really need a proper dragon like character in the game.
: Uh, more like Morde was a overexaggeration. Now any time someone plays Morde, I always see people buying QSS when on release they never bothered (even with facts coming out on how to counter him). Dude lacks any bit of late game to mid game scaling that every other juggernaut has to some extent. Irelia was overtuned because she was being made into a fighter and not a bruiser. Had she been reworked into better bruiser champ, we wouldn't have the current issues that she had that caused her to get nerfed over and over. Akali's other issue is that her MS buff is overtuned. Very hard to trade into her if she just keeps getting ms buffs per passive.
Conqueror was a big part of Irelia's and Morde's problems too, wasn't it? (And still is???)
: Ik, thats why i play only those two out of the whole tank pool. Cuz i can do brioser level shit while not being am actual bruiser
I play mundo for the same reason :)
Warpes (NA)
: What about reworks like Morde and Kayle are "healthier" for the game?
I love all those reworks. True-stealth Akali was a mistake, but I'm glad Riot tries new things. perhaps they could removed it earlier, or tuned her down to compensate. Morde was just a stats problem, not sure why it took so long to react to that. Irelia was overtuned, although that was more than just numbers. What do you think is "cancerous" about those champs?
: I would like the ult to be changed for a more fun and expressive Syndra. But how do we do that without completely screwing what Syndra is. Other burst mages/ control mages get the luxury of range and MS. More Damage is meaningless if it cant land and the whole throwing idea while good on paper sounds like a glorified QE or W. I dont know, I would like to see changes that doesn't directly impact Syndra's job or security. But how do we do that is what I wonder.
Valid concern. Syndra is both a burst and control mage isn't she??? The idea is very much just like her W, but I'm thinking of a faster missile speed, with less of an arc and more of a line. What if the balls exploded (AOE) on the first champ hit and slowed them? And she could still move while holding them in her ult for 10ish seconds. Gives her a little more security.
: To me, as someone who only plays nautilus and chogath (jungle both) from the class, thatwould be zoning off enemt adc/killing him (quite possble if they are smooth brain enough to not peel) and live long enough for your team to fuck the others up. Dunno what that would be for actual tank mains, am a bruiser main
> am a bruiser main I was gonna say, what you describe sounds more like a bruiser than a tank.

When did that flash nerf hit the pros, perhaps they wanted to see the nerf in the pro scene before giving him compensation buffs? Well shen's E is a flash taunt right, but rito dosen't remove his e.
Galio's taunt is a MUCH bigger AOE, and Shen doesn't have a channel to his taunt. I don't think it's a fair comparison.
painteon (NA)
: It would be better for riot to stick to amking themed champions than gameplay champions.
Absolutely agree. (I prefer the term _fantasy_ rather than _theme_) Although its best when satisfying gameplay brings out the champion fantasy. Most of my response's to balance/design decisions are about what brings out the characters fantasy. I think they're getting better and better at this, with a few exceptions. To name a few: 1) Qiyana was a slight miss imo, but terraforming assassin is a tough fantasy to deliver. 2) Pyke. If I remember correctly, they started his development specifically with the goal to create an assassin support, because that was a role missing in LoL. So they intentionally started with gameplay focus here, rather than fantasy focus. Pyke is super popular, I'd say they nailed the "assassin support" thing. The Volibear and Fiddlesticks update shows how dedicated Riot is to champion fantasy in their development process. https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2019/07/fiddlesticks-and-volibear-dev-update-1/ I want a {{champion:102}} rework. The Fire-Fury-Dragborn fantasy should be way more fun to play, but her kit just isn't that satisfying. **Are there any champion you think have a good fantasy that doesn't come through in their gameplay? Or, which champs do you like their gameplay can't engage with because their fantasy is lacking? **
Hordes66 (NA)
: The Balance team knows what they're doing
IMHO: I've been playing the game for 6-7 years, I think yasou was the first "new champ" for me. For most of that time I followed their patch notes and dev blogs pretty closely. They're way better at balancing champs now than they were years ago. They seem much better at quickly identifying what a champion should and shouldn't be good at, and target buffing/nerfing those specific parts of their kit. They don't always get it right, but I feel like their process is much better.
: Damage in general scales better with gold than tankiness. So yeah, tanks scale the worst with gold
To you, what does it mean to carry as a tank? I'm not sure myself.
: At first it was the ult because it gave damage reduction and pros use globals better than soloq players due to communication advantage. Then they basically made his ult useless by removing the damage reduction because you are never going to hit anyone with the r damage and you can only aim it at an ally so it became just a worse version of TF ult with higher cooldown too. The w nerf where they removed the flash interaction was a big fucking joke and players in soloq could use it just as well as pro players even though they used the difference between pros and soloq players as an argument to it removal. Galio wasn't even that good in pro play after they nerfed the ult and they still removed him from the game just because they didn't want to see him played anymore.
> The w nerf where they removed the flash interaction was a big fucking joke and players in soloq could use it just as well as pro players even though they used the difference between pros and soloq players as an argument to it removal. : Sounds like old Irelia ult too
Yes. almost exactly what I was thinking. Did people like old Irelia ult?
: The thing about Syndra's ult is that a lot of people would say that its either boring, unfun, unskillful, doesn't mesh well with the kit etc but its the one form of security Syndra has. 3 out of her 4 abilities are skill shots and buying boots already gives her a hard time. For a Control burst mage like Syndra who needs to be at the range she does making her ult another skill shot is terrible. Especially with the amount of mobility in this game.
You're correct it would be less reliable. Reliability creates a really flat experience. I'd prefer a more dynamic experience, but its certainly valid to feel the opposite. A decrease in reliability could be compensated with an increase in damage.** Could I sell you on the skill shot if it meant Syndra's ult did even more damage?** Or what if it had no cool down: At any point she could pick up all her balls and start throwing them at people. ...I just feel her Q , W, and E are so fun but the ult is a let down.
: I think vel koz is the champ for u.
vel koz is alright. his w and e aren't as fun as syndra. And the laser beam is a little slow.
: Is it just me or are people slowly not playing league anymore?
The game is nearly 10 years old. People slowly stop playing video games as they get older. I have no idea if new players are replacing the older players. I stopped playing for about 6 months, semi-intentionally. Part of it was I was busy, part of it was The Amazing Spiderman release convinced me to buy a PS4, so I had to play through that and a few other console games I missed. But I picked league back up and I've been enjoying it more than ever.
: Idky but it feels like I can never get more than 2 of her balls prepped for ult or stunning with her E... like even after I max all her spells? Is there a certain build she should be going to give her more?

But the on-click nuke just feels so boring. > > The same thing keeps me from playing more {{champion:45}} . Which is too bad cuz I love his voice lines. I think her ultimate is fine. It requires set up that is very noticeable. The only time her ult really poses a threat tho is when someone is either already super low, or stupid enough to fuck with her while she has 7 balls stacked up.
Fair enough. I don't care about power levels, I'm not super competitive. I'm more interested in having fun. What if her ult was for each ball + three (just like normal), she could throw them one at a time in a straight line (like an Ahri orb that doesn't return, maybe a faster projectile speed to make it feel more satisfying). So she picks up all her balls and then starts blasting people with them, like its dodge-ball to the death. Maybe it locks out her Q and W, but she can still E. So throw a few balls, then E for big CC. Then throw the rest of the balls. I like this very much. Make her ult for fun and play her up as a control-mage. What do you think?
: Dear Riot Balance Design team, please do read these thoughs about Syndra's buffs.
**How do you feel about Syndra's ult?** I really like Syndra except her ult feels so boring, so I never stuck with her. For such a nuke, her ult should be more of a high point. She has all these skill shots, her Q+E is like a double skill shot long range stun, super fun! But the on-click nuke just feels so boring. The same thing keeps me from playing more {{champion:45}} . Which is too bad cuz I love his voice lines.
: Please Revert the 9.16 Azir changes.
The Shurima shuffle is a really cool thing. Its also kinda BS for a long range hyper carry. It also doesn't fit his fantasy: he stands in the back of and commands his army, but then the next moment he dives the enemy team. But as I said, its a really fun play to pull off. I don't know how to fix him. But as for nerfing his early safety? Doesn't this range nerf do exactly that. Also, I may be mis-remembering, but I thought Meddler said somewhere that they'd probably look to see if nerfing Corki make Azir less of a priority pick before the nerf Azir. So there may be some hope that these PBE changes are just experimental and will be pulled.
: At this point its time to stop messing with Galio's numbers and give him a mini update already. It's clear Riot can't balance him without pro players sperging out and complaining like they always do.
Is it his W or his Ult that make him so much better in Pro play? Or both?
: The Reason Tanks Aren't Played Often
> It's way preferable to pick a carry/lane bully and snowball. This. Its really two things: 1) Tanks are not satisfying to play, regardless of power level, and 2) they don't scale well enough with gold, so it hard to carry with them. They need to do some mini-reworks on the tank champs to make tanks more fun to play, their abilities just aren't that fun. And I've never done the math, so this is more a guess, but I think other classes scale better with gold. Scale might not be the right word. With more gold, other classes grow better at their role than tanks do. Its probably a mix of AD/AP damage scalings, and CD stats. But maybe not, tanks are for utility, not damage. How do you make utility scale with gold? Any ideas?
: Idk i only played it briefly awhile ago (before it died, deservedly so cus the devs are lame) You've never heard that complaint before cus ppl don't really think there's any hope for something like wasd coming to league so they don't even bother talking about it and the only reason i brought it up is cus of the emulator for mobile legends which has wasd and is the main thing keeping me with it. It has its issues (stuttering from emulator and horrible balance cus mobile game) so i want to play a real game but there isn't a single active/alive/fun-rpg pvp based game that has wasd smite is incredibly flawed cus hirez have stupid issues and ive played it too much and there arent any other mobas with wasd
I never want wasd in league. It felt fun in battlerite, but that's a totally different game.
