: I have tested and played for almost 10 years, any of the old timers at Riot will recognize my name... This has to be about the most tone deaf response/announcement in Riot history. I actually remember when the ethos of Riot was doing right by the players, and that player experience counted above all, listening to feedback. What happened? The players made it clear they wanted Riot to pull back on the Prestige skins. To asses their value and frequency of release. Yet here you are, announcing not only more, but for a hefty price. There is no "Prestige" in having more money than another person. Nor is there "Prestige" in falling into what is an obvious money-grab. This is something Electronic Arts would do, not Riot Games.
Been part of the greater MOBA community since the original DOTA days. Made league my primary game around season 2. I honestly thought this post was a joke when I saw it in the client. How absolutely ludicrous.

: Remember that Bronze is a softer and cheaper alloy than Iron, and that the Iron age was the successor to the Bronze age. Any tier below Bronze should be called Tin, Rock (Bottom) (also stone age) or, as OP suggests, Wood. Alternatively, the lowest tier remains Bronze but current Bronze is renamed Iron IV with Bronze I -> Iron IIII; Iron I -> Silver IIII etc. While we're at it, consider changing "IV" to the "IIII" as neither format was ever actually more correct, and without the V to progress out of, it makes I, II, III, IV less consistent than I, II, III, IIII.

: Cowsep's Response AND a great chance to talk about KOREAN SERVER toxicity!!
I respect your playstyle, your streaming character, and more. However, you did do something wrong. Leaving a game before it's over is leaving the game. You literally said "if they can't win now they don't deserve it." That's straight selfish behavior. Those players at that elo don't know how to 'end' the game normally. They're still learning. And you afk'ing was a rude, selfish, gesture. Finish the game. Take 2m out of your time. Finish. You have great arguments all around, but not admitting that what you did was also toxic injures the quality of your point. Nobody likes a quitter, under any circumstances.
: Nautilus lore - what's most important to you?
Having played the champion a good amount, you almost get this sense, as he stands now, that he's like The Friendly Giant. I don't mind turning up to 11 his dark, mysterious, unknowable, unfathomable (heh) side. It's really powerful to have this lumbering, monster that crawls out of the depths like Pacific Rim and Godzilla fused. That, too, would be an engaging story. But, that story doesn't have the teeth to spin a complex and unique yarn of character development. I think, instead, grasping onto him as an ancient being that trudges the depths alone, and wonders at his place in the universe seems a more captivating yarn. It's almost as if he's a twin to Amumu, but one that has kept his positive spirit throughout his lonely, dark, solitary life. There's something to that story, something there that might be able to be twisted into a unique and powerful tale of a giant who walks alone beyond the rays of light. And there, in the darkness, finds himself--a joyful, yet unfathomable, monster.
: Where is your proof that the game is dying? Riot hasn't publicized any statistics about their playerbase since 2014.
If you look at twitch viewership numbers they have remained relatively flat for the last two seasons. Now, that doesn't constitute a "dying" by any means. BUT it does mean the game isn't growing like it was for the first 5ish seasons. However, the most viewers of a final ever was this last final... so, the peaks do keep climbing even if the average is relatively flatlined.

On his lol wiki page, Zed is listed as his champion. Here's the full list: Darius, the Hand of Noxus Thresh, the Chain Warden Zyra, Rise of the Thorns (partly with Steven 'Coronach' DeRose and Ryan 'Morello' Scott) Yasuo, the Unforgiven Kalista, the Spear of Vengeance Zed, the Master of Shadows Zoe, the Aspect of Twilight Warwick, the Uncaged Wrath of Zaun
If that's his work then, well, actually, he should have job. Sure, people may hate a lot of those champions... but that's because they're so _popular_. Like, really, really popular. Darius is a fun top lane. Thresh is an amazing support, probably one of the best all-around high-skill-high-return supports. Zyra's kinda a mixed bag, but she can be a fun support. Yasuo is heavily hated, sure, but he's also HIGHLY played. I've almost never played him, but, man, he's sure fun to watch be played perfectly. Just, objectively, he's got a lot of potential for those very-high-skill-cap plays which make top elo fun. Kalista is a very interesting adc. She's hard to balance and out of the meta right now, but, she's interesting, I appreciate the niche. Zed is all the same comments as Yasuo. Warwick (was T involved in the rework?) because rework WW is in a great space imo. He's maybe a little too strong right now, but I really appreciate thematically and technically where he fits.

People don't tend to play strictly with their guild. Most groupings are from LFG. I never used voice chat in that system. I used other solutions all the time, when people were interested enough to join. And, this would be worse. One of my biggest complaints with xbox style competitive games is how _annoying_ voice coms usually are. They just don't work well. They're quite difficult to police the insane toxicity that crops up too. And that's exactly what happens. If you're with a group of well mannered randoms, invite them to Discord. That extra step likely means people will be far more affable then if they're auto-shoved into a coms tool regardless of desire. What's more, it creates a huge barrier for tracking history of behavior, and massively balloons server costs as entire chats need to be recorded for posterity. It now creates two huge backlogs for player behavior to track and requires some quality voice-to-text parsing that includes who spoke. This is very complicated to implement well. While I understand your desire to improve communication among groups, and the laudable goal of thereby improving the quality of play, I'm just not convinced the actual implementation will be a net benefit for the community. Basically, tldr, idiots are why we can't have nice things.

His statistics tend to disagree with you. The longer the game goes, the higher his winrate. http://champion.gg/champion/Nasus/Top?league=
: What's the point of voice chat if you're making it for premade teams only?
Honestly, what's the point of voice chat? We have solid solutions like Discord for that. When WoW came out with it we NEVER used it. There are better solutions. You will not make as good of a solution. Focus your attention on other things. <3

: Because in a physical sport, the physical limitations are irrelevant to most players. Any one can set up their own rules when they play with friends at their local basketball court. This is a video game where there are hard and fast rules that EVERYONE have to play by. So creating a situation that only favors the top 0.00001% of players is just about the fastest way to kill a games population.
You’re talking about a custom game now. Which is SOMEWHAT similar to aram/other game modes. League has a weak custom game scene, that’s true. Probably one of my biggest complaints compared to the classics like Warcraft 3 (whose custom game scene was so robust it spawned this very genre...) Anyway, I’m talking about playing competitively. In a league (high school, college, intermural, whatever), you don’t make up your own rules, you don’t lower the hoop or use a smaller ball. The comparison I was making is quite clear. I don’t disagree with you that there has to be a balance where the game is fun for everyone. But, there also has to be a balance where we understand that pro play will take priority in some scenarios. And we, the average player, won’t be able to physically do some of the things that require those changes. So, we play differently. We don’t dunk (maybe that’s like playing Azir) but we can still shoot an outside 3. Adapt. Edit: And, having a pro scene is a _very_ effective marketing tool. So, if there’s to be strong marketing by having professional play (It certainly helps to make soccer/football/etc popular) then the game has to be balanced for it. However! You do make a great point about ‘custom’ games. It would be really nice if Rito would let us set up our own rules more easily. Outside of ranked... custom stuff can be a whole lot of fun.
: Why would you report it? Yeah it stings for a bit, but then you're done and up to the next game. No reason to report someone for that.
Not really a reportable offense. But, it is unsportsmanlike conduct and shouldn't be _encouraged_ Not sure where the line is here.
Durzaka (NA)
: Physical limitations in a physical sport is NOT the same thing as gameplay for an esport. Youre comparing 2 very different things.
The point of my metaphor is that different abilities will always exist in any competitive sport. Including esports. I'm not sure how that's different at all.
: If I'm not the one of the 150 LCS players I feel like Riot doesn't give a damn about me
I disagree with you as a general point. Basketball hoops are 10 feet high. I can't dunk that high. Basketball refs are dicks because they don't lower the hoop. Okay? So, I won't be able to dunk. Doesn't mean I can't go out and play and have a great time with my own skillset. I'll never be able to do a 360 over my neighbors head dunk. Never. So, I find other ways to win. The same will ALWAYS be true of any competitive game. Don't just compare yourself to the best. Find ways to be your best. You'll have a lot more fun.
: Well, it is the "forcing" them part that is wrong. You wouldn't want people to force you to act in certain ways, why force it on others? Be and let be. if you don't like what someone is saying, or in a mindset where something might upset you, there is a mute button.
Ehhhhhh. Society is built upon encouraging each other to act in ways that builds a stronger group. I'm not sure why this has become unpopular to believe or understand. Society is built on trust. There are ways that trust can be broken, words are among them. It is _healthy_ to encourage dialogue that promotes trust.

: **ONLY "DEFAULT" ATTACKS BY CONDUIT-ALLY APPLY ZEKE'S BONUS DAMAGE** This includes any "attacks" that are considered the same as that champ's default CLICK->AUTO-ATTACK method of dealing damage, or those which apply 'On-Hit' effects (e.g. Ezreal's Q): [Basic Attack ](http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Basic_attack) http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Basic_attack MF ultimate? No. NO Ability (Q-W-E-R) - IF it does not also count as a default or On-Hit effect proc'ing attack - (per LoL description above) will apply the bonus magic damage. NOTE: Bonuses to Damage applied by any 'basic / auto-attacks' On-Hit, such as CRIT items or champ passive boosts, DO apply! _The basic LoL description IS a bit confusing on several points. Here's what I believe is happening._ **KEY FACTS:** Zeke's Convergence will Slow any opponent inside, once, AND Adds bonus AP/magic damage - in this way: 1) _Frost storm_: Surrounds and moves with YOU, for 10 seconds, applying the applicable SLOW effect. 2) Opponents who are within range upon casting, OR who ENTER the effect during that 10 seconds, will be slowed by 20% for 2 seconds. _"You are surrounded with a Frost storm which slows enemies within it by 20%..."_ *So...IF you cast your Ult while any Opponent is INSIDE of Zeke's range, - they get slowed by 20% for 2 sec. OR IF you cast your Ult while any Opponent is OUTSIDE of Zeke's range, but during the 10-second duration any opponent, for any reason (you move, they move) they ENTER the effect for the first time, - they get slowed by 20% for 2 sec. 3) Bonus Damage(s) Activation: This is described as ONLY getting proc'd IF your bound Conduit-Ally is WITHIN (Zeke's) RANGE at the moment you cast your own Ultimate. HOWEVER, various discussions of this item online imply that your Conduit-Ally may actually have up to around 3 seconds to move/get into range. The range is NOT very large, but does show up as a graphic on screen. _"Casting your ultimate near your Conduit grant you both bonus effects for 10 seconds."_ *So...IF you cast your Ult while your Conduit-Ally is OUTSIDE of Zeke's range, beginning the Frost Storm slow effect around yourself, even if your conduit-ally attacks an opponent inside the effect area (by ranged attacks or by opponent moving into the effect) there will be NO bonus damage if they were not 'in-range' near enough to trigger it. **RIOT:** _ a) Simply ENLARGING the RANGE within which the Conduit-Ally must be to activate bonus might very well encourage more use of this item. b) Making the graphic overlay higher-contrast might help as well. c) IF it is true that the Ally has a grace-period delay during which to move into range and activate the Fire passive buff... SAY SO!_ 4) Opponents within the effect, who then get hit by an attack by your activated (was within range) Conduit-Ally, take additional on-hit magic (AP) damage of 25% of whatever damage your Conduit-Ally attack provided. - Plus another 12.5% after 1 second - Plus another 12.5% after another 1 second (TOTAL bonus damage, as magic damage, is 50% of whatever damage your Conduit-Ally produced.) _"...your Conduit's basic attacks burn their target with Fire dealing 50% bonus magic damage over 2 seconds..."_ NOTE: This is magic damage, but it is based on WHATEVER damage your ally produces from their default attack, regardless of whether that attack does AD, AP, or True damage, PRIOR to modifiers like Armor/MR. Damage modifiers (such as CRIT bonuses) DO apply to the 50% calculation! Damage reducers of the initial attack (such as Exhaust) ALSO affect the calculation... :/ e.g. IF first auto-attack/basic hit on an opponent who was slowed does 200 AD damage - An instant extra 50 AP damage is applied - Another 25 AP damage after 1 second - Another 25 AP damage after 1 more second - Damage restances (MR) DO affect the actual magic damage applied 5) There is a stated 45-second cooldown. That means, this extra bonus AP/magic damage does NOT 'stack' multiple times. So...this whole 'bonus 50% damage over 2 seconds' feature apparently is applied only once, per opponent, per activation of Zeke's (i.e. per use of your Ult, after 45 seconds). _"(45 second cooldown)."_ 6) Frostfire Covenant: Any opponent slowed by your frost effect AND HIT by your ACTIVATED Conduit-Ally for the bonus damage, immediately applies 40% slow AND extends that effect to 3 seconds (instead of 2 seconds) AND applies another 40 AP/magic damage for each of the next 3 seconds. _"If an enemy is both struck by Frost AND Fire, your Frost storm ignites and becomes Frostfire. A Frostfire storm, deals 40 magic damage per second and slows by 40% instead for 3 seconds."_ Following the example from above: Opponent is in middle of a 2-second 20% slow in your effect field, gets hit by opponent which does 200 AD + 50 AP, gets slowed to total of 40% for an extended extra second, while taking 25 AP Fire and another 40 AP Frostfire, then another 25 AP Fire and another 40 AP Frostfire, then is freed from the slow but takes another final (3rd) round of 40 AP Frostfire. Total damage over 3 seconds from your Conduit Ally basic attack is 200 AD + 220 AP = 420 damage. Yes...that ONE auto-attack just did MORE AP/magic damage than it did AD. Thanks Zeke. Yes...This item is ideal - or at least can be very effective - with engage-supports that are tanky ({{champion:54}} Malphite supp?) or who pick up a tanky-boost along with their Ult ({{champion:12}} Alistar...and here's lookin' at you, {{champion:50}} **New-Swain** whose new Ult will be double-dipping on the swirling chaos effects...). ++++++++++ Therefore, it is important for your ALLY to know that the moment they see you activate your Ult, and (if the timeout is ready) proc the Frost Storm, they should IMMEDIATELY: ** Auto-Attack EACH AND EVERY opponent ONE time ** ** THEN focus on whichever the usual target would be (squishy), using Ability attacks to finish them.** ++++++++++ Riot questions: A) IF an opponent and ally are both IN range of the Zeke's, so there is a 20% Slow started for 2 seconds, AND an activated Conduit-Ally, BUT that ally does not get in a Basic/Autoattack until, say, second #9 of the 10 seconds...long after the initial 2-seconds of 20% slow has expired... THEN how does the 40% slow "instead" for 3 seconds? - IS there an entirely separate new 3-seconds worth of 40% slow applied? - IS there instead a 40% slow that only lasts for 1-second? (3 total - 2 seconds at 20% = 1 more second at 40%, but not applied until the AA hits? B) IF the above occurs, and only a fraction of the 3-seconds worth of Frostfire 40% slow is applied after having used up 2-seconds at only 20% earlier; does the bonus 40 AP/magic damage still hit for the next 3 seconds for the total 120 AP/magic damage? C) IF the bonus Fire damage can be reapplied by additional AutoAttacks during that 10-second window; i.e. the 45-second cooldown is solely for another instance of Zeke's, but the 50% bonus Fire damage can happen again-and-again, THEN the description MUST change to clarify this. Enquiring minds want to know...

When I try, I usually get gold 1, plat 5, but I have to sacrifice other things in my life that are more important to maintain that level of play. Its not worth it to me. I'd rather watch my children grow up. I'd rather spend time with my family. I'd rather get good marks in school. I'd rather concentrate on furthering my education and eventually my career. That said, my mechanical skill in this game isn't so great. I play easy-to-play champions, which essentially means I play champions that aren't the greatest at solo-carrying a game. That's fine for me. I have fun, and isn't that the point? However, my macro knowledge is on a completely different level than 95% of the people I play with, or have met. I know when to take which objectives, I know which lanes to focus on when jungling, and which lanes to let be. Its not the knowledge that inhibits me, its being able to execute that knowledge in a game environment. If you gave me hive-mind control over a team, and gave your run-of-the-mill platinum or diamond player hive-mind control over a team, and put our teams against each other, I feel like I'd either give them a run for their money, or just flat-out win. But that's not how this game works. You've got to play around other players. You've got to play the cards you're dealt, and they're not always good cards. I am EXTREMELY confident in my macro knowledge. Mechanically, I wouldn't be surprised at all if I'm bronze 5. But macro-wise, I'd consider myself on-par with high platinum and diamond players. Mix the two, and you get mid-high gold, which is where I typically fall. So when I'm talking to bronze/silver players, that's the advice I give them. Macro advice. Rotations, objective control, etc etc. I'm not the guy who's gonna tell you how to 1v1 a fed Azir. You're on your own for that. But if you wanna know how to press an advantage, I'd be happy to sit down and talk.
I'm exactly the same. Except, I'm 2 years older :)
: 1 If they bind is to the champ select role what happens if someone trades for sup then that team is severely screwed. 2 Bind to summs then any off meta thing that doesnt include exhaust gets screwed. 3 Making it a mastery doesnt help as suddenly all supps are forced into one mastery.(tbh a support tree might be cool though so im not set that this is a bad idea) 4 make non support sightstone and leave the old sight stone how it was. Not a bad idea theres already a jg one now we just need an ap/ad/tank sightstone. 5 theyve already talked about bringing back twin shadows in the ap update so we know were getting that one. Im sure riot could make a fotm/toa item

Im sure riot could make a fotm/toa item 1) True, great point. They'd have to add tech to the client so that we can actually swap roles in the pregame to make the change official. 2) True! Perhaps it could be bound to something like "not teleport" instead of "has exhaust". 3) Support tree is very interesting, but does take away from the creativity. There could be a single "mastery point" that could get expended to select support as a role. Like, on any tree you give up 1 feature to select into "support" 4) I like this idea a lot because it encourages more warding from the team. 5) I certainly hope they make a fotm/toa item again. It's extremely useful for tank supports. Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

: The boards is not serving its intended purpose, and both Riot and the players are responsible
There's also this weird general problem with internet communities that edges into a problem generally in the planet. We like to hear what we like to hear and we avoid all other ideas. Humanity is going to need some serious social progress across the board to be more comfortable with conversation between people of differing opinions. It's healthy to banter. It's possible that the very methods used to seek out quality content (read, up/down-voting) has an unintended side effect of encouraging group think to dangerous levels. Perhaps it's as simple as discovering better algorithmic ways to eek out quality content over repost rants.
: Stop bringing healthy ADCs up, start knocking OP ones down
To be fair, the role diversity right now is: Everyone go fleetfootwork, except Ez, you can go klepto.
: 2018 Ranked Placements Venting post!
Legit, it is annoying af to be in Plat for several seasons and always get placed in Silver after placements. Ugh, the torture of the climb.

Funny cause I'm pretty sure this season started about the same time last year, I've got 54 chests now (and I missed one week due not having a comp for over a month) and there's only 52 weeks in year.... so what gives?
You start with 4, do you not? Wouldn't that make a max of 56?

Is that when the chests reset? FML I've already earned 52, I'm running out of champs I'm good enough at...
Yeah, usually chests reset at the beginning of the season.
: [IDEA] Profile personalization, and other few tweaks to the profile page
I would LOVE to see a pentagonal skill profile. That would be incredible.

: An honest opinion regarding the OE debacle: an open letter to reply Riot Cactopus
The orange essence problem is pretty gigantic. With the enormously high cost of upgrading to lvl 6/7 I feel like that is a COMPLETE waste of BE. So, now, I'm left with piles of BE growing in my bank instead of IP... so no effective change in that currency. Then I have OE which has grown by one shard since preseason began. One. That's insane. Through all my accounts and playing since the beginning of s2, I've spent probably close to $1000 on this game, and I never felt bad about it. Now? I wouldn't spend a dollar. Because my return on investment is completely gone. There's no quid-pro-quo to the exchange. And my games don't even have a CHANCE of giving me something I care about. It's nuts.
: To be honest, Zoe's characterization is atrocious
I agree entirely. They easily could have written her lore as being a fun-loving child. One who loves mystery, games, etc, without the willful ignorance.
: Orange essence doesnt exist to me anymore. Since the new system i havent got a single skin shard. Its good as dead.

: Lvl 40 Glorious Capsule is a Troll,They give u ~2k Blue essence, then charge 2500 BE to craft emote
My biggest complaint, hands down, is how expensive mastery lvl 6/7 is now in BE. It's... insane. When BE had no real purpose it was just fine. Now? What. The. Hell. Chromas for BE is a fantastic reward. Rewards like that are freaking amazing. I don't mind the capsule system, as a rule. But I will add noise to the fact that I find "leveling" an odd af system for a game like this. UNLESS. They can use our "levels" to more intelligently match us, then, I might be a little bit interested in the idea.

: Is anyone else just not having fun?
uh. I love it. I freaking LOVE it. It's new, it's challenging, and it's opening up a world of new ideas to the game. Sorry change is hard sometimes, but the game just got a lot better, period.
: Font means fount.
Turns out this required more research... and you're basically correct. It has quite the etymological history.... I had no idea anyone said "Font of Knowledge". Font and Fount are not direct synonyms but they are similar. It's relatively rare, and the more commonly used version is definitely "fount"... but, it does pass the "seems ok" test of grammar.
