No. Janna was a no-pick in Pro for years, including most of season 4. She was strong in solo-Que primarily because she countered engage-heavy champs, like Leona, Braum, and Thresh. Although even then, she was certainly not OP until recently. The primary reason she is performing so well now is OP itemization.

South korea is current sitting at an average of 27 Mbps according to the latest Akamai report. For a country that is 92% urbanized with vast competition and infrastructure built heavily by the government, that's really not that impressive. And it certainly suggests that their cheapest internet isn't faster than 90% of our ISP's fastest offerings. While the US is sitting quite a bit lower on the scale, we also have millions of rural DSL connections holding down our averages. When it comes to urban broadband, we really are not that far behind. DOCSIS 3.1 is able to bring Gigabit service to every home served by cable. Telcos are having a little more trouble as the loop lengths in the US typically run considerably longer than in Europe or Asian countries which makes VDSL more expensive and in many cases unfeasible. But they are increasingly rolling out GPON which can be easily upgraded to NG-PON2, which can deliver 10 Gbps to every house. And 5G wireless services will be able to offer 1 Gbps service with under 5ms latency.

: Soraka needs a more complex identity ingame beyond "being the healer"
Soraka being good in the solo lane has no chance of becoming a reality. Every support being released and reworked are being designed to only perform well in the duo lane. People really need to get over the solo lane support idea. Every single one ends up being toxic to play against. That's why Bard/Nami/Braum/Thresh were released to not be optimal in the solo lane and Taric/Soraka were reworked similarly.
: Soraka needs a more complex identity ingame beyond "being the healer"
Soraka's ult has to stay or she is no longer really Soraka. I personally at this point would rework her W entirely. Make it some form of an aggressive ability with a conditional heal or maybe no heal at all and instead move her heal to her passive. I personally don't see any reason she can't have a passive heal. Something simple like when Soraka's abilities come in contact with an ally they heal for X per lv plus x% AP. I also personally would also like to see her Q nerfs reverted. The shorter range has too much risk with no added reward. I think the center of her Q should also go back to dealing more damage and possibly a stronger slow (instead of being the only slow).

And the tear puts you at a considerable damage disadvantage in mid lane. Not to mention that most of the champions that would like to build it (like Lux) depend on CDR. There simply are not enough other CDR items that can be built to make up for the 20% lost on not getting the Nomicon. > and uh nomicon has not lost its identity as a grievous wounds item for mages. most good players will still build this vs vlad/swain/volibear/mundo type champions. > > Nomicon honestly got a lot better. it doesn't feel bad to rush. before Nomicon would basically make you a bit weaker earlier for the sake of mana regen/cdr. now you get ap, mana, and cdr. its the perfect rush item. lost chapter is also an amazing early item as it gives you plenty of sustain in lane. > > I love what they did with the mana items. before it was Athenes or nomicon and mostly whichever one was more efficient now you have meaningful choices. You pretty much are. You can build an Hourglass to get 10%. And... maybe an Abyssal Scepter to get another 10%? In many cases not though since the passive is useless on long range mages. : I think it would be cool if a new champion is given a damage type that deals bonus damage to shields
This would create an unnecessary weakness for shields. Unlike heals, shields are not permanent. They are supposed to protect their target. This would defeat their purpose. Also Janna does not give her ADC a huge shield.

: The Struggles of Support Mains
I actually don't get flamed much at all as support. In fact even in my worst games where everyone is being toxic toward one another, I am usually the only one who isn't being called trash. Part of that is because I am fairly good at what I do. The other part is I typically don't say anything negative no matter how bad it is. Too often I find that supports (and everyone really) talk too much. That only leads to trouble when things start going bad. Don't blame, take sides, or tell someone how to play their champion and you will get a lot further. I will say that expectations are becoming increasingly unrealistic these days. I don't recall another season where I have ever had to bail so many people out of avoidable no-win situations. And the amount of healing required in some games is unbelievable. I used to joke about people not dodging skill shots because they have a healer. But people actually seem to be making plays they know they will take needless damage for these days with the assumption that the support will heal them. Going after that last minion knowing you will eat a Lux E for is just poor gameplay. Sure Soraka can take the pain away but not if you make her kill herself to do it.
: STAR GUARDIAN JANNA
It looks rather Disney-like to me.
: Current sustain lanes are too strong vs poke relative to how weak(they aren't) they are to all-in.

None of the sustain champions perform too well against poke champions. Not even Soraka.

She probably just needs a rework at this point. Cut the amount she heals and add power in other spots in her kit. I believe she can be fixed without changing her kit dramatically, and I think W being an HOT can work for her. They just need to install more bells and whistles to have her optimize her healing in different ways, such as managing buffs that manipulate how she heals.

They just need to install more bells and whistles to have her optimize her healing in different ways, such as managing buffs that manipulate how she heals. But her heal was a HoT at one point way back in Alpha. It didn't work out very well. With her current kit I don't think it would be viable at all. She would lose too much strength in team fights.

: True, regen isn't strong but thats not my point. I don't think healing and shielding should cover the same area of the game, regen was just one of the options for what to change heals into.

I don't think healing and shielding should cover the same area of the game, regen was just one of the options for what to change heals into. I don't disagree with that. But because there is so much burst in this game I really don't see how heals could remain viable if they were changed from their current burst-heal design. Perhaps the solution is to buff shields.
: They are nerfing soraka now, so no rework needed.

A nerf that makes a crappy champion crappier does not make her not need a rework. All they are doing is making it so her heal is no longer strong. Considering her kit was designed around being the strongest healer, it is clear that her kit has failed.
: Only Soraka is an issue. Nami and Sona's heals cost so much during laning that they literally cannot afford to be a consistent sustain lane without OOMing in like 5 seconds. They at least need to invested in 2 mid rank mana items to have their heals be able to contend with burst. Soraka just needs to have her Infusion shifted from a flat heal to a Heal over Time. An HOT is much easier to counter than a flat burst heal. Wish can remain the same since it's an ultimate and on a long cooldown, but the balance for her definitely needs to come in on changing W.

: If heal is supposed to be about sustaining then why is it instant health? That is just a better version of shield because it doesn't go away. I vote for healing to act like a potion and give increased regen.

That is just a better version of shield because it doesn't go away. I vote for healing to act like a potion and give increased regen. Soraka's heal used to function very similar to that. It would be an interesting idea to re-explore on a new champion but it generally doesn't work very well due to the extreme amount of burst in this game. In fact I would argue health regen on all but a extreme few cases (Mundo and Garen for example) is nearly worthless.

: Actually I never played MMORPG's. > You're in a tough spot, and you've been isolated from your team while 3 of the enemies are coming after you. You have a healer behind you. Here, let me increase your health regen by 5%, that'll totally save you from getting completely destroyed. I think that situation should be covered by shields not heals. Healing should be for after a fight.
> [{quoted}](name=UberAffe,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=dyByG9Kf,comment-id=00030001000000000000,timestamp=2016-09-15T18:17:29.075+0000) > > Actually I never played MMORPG's. > > I think that situation should be covered by shields not heals. Healing should be for after a fight. But recalling exists as does lifesteal. Healing after a fight only would make healing relatively useless.

That is just a better version of shield because it doesn't go away. I vote for healing to act like a potion and give increased regen. Shields are not affected by grevious wounds. They also usually have some sort of other benefit. Janna provides AD. Lulu provides damage through her passive. Thresh can pull allies to safety. Nami/Sona/Soraka just heal.
: Athenes is a weak item
I am not sure why this item even exists in the current state. It is only good for supports who don't do enough damage to properly charge it and most of the time those supports can already heal. I don't see the purpose other than to cause further balance issues.
: Anyone else tired of LeBlanc having the best mage cooldowns in the game?
Her CD isn't actually that short. Not sure where you get that. Most mages have some ability that can be spammed every couple seconds or DoT. Leblanc has neither. She literally does her combo and can't do anything else for a period of time.
: Will these champions FINALLY be fixed in Season 7
These champions would become significantly harder to play if the hitbox matched both the length and the width of the actual animation. It's not just Riot being lazy.

That's not really surprising though.
: why does my ADC ban my support pick...
I have literally never had my adc (or anyone on my team) ban my supports when I preview who I plan to play. But pretty much the only champions I play for support are Nami and Janna. Both of which are almost never banned and you rarely ever have an adc that doesn't want a Nami. I do receive a request to pick another champion every so often with Janna due to her playstyle.
Nuparu (NA)
: 20 second cooldown on W with moderate numbers means she would have to land Qs in lane or else she wouldn't be able to heal nearly as much as before. I think that's decent interaction that she would have to take, and the tradeoff would be a horrible cooldown on her W if she never used Q.

She would only need to use Q if she needed to use W. 20 seconds is roughly what her CD was pre-rework and it worked out well enough.
