: Can we do something about insane amounts of heals in this game already? Looking at Sylas and Kayn..
can soraka have this kind of healing too? I mean, with her, at least it's literally her MO......
: uhm, i dont understand, are those not the abilities that shield your adc? I am sorry I didnt play support in a long and had to use wiki as well but im pretty sure I got the binds right
Might I interject with some less toxic verbage to make the point? Those may be the right buttons, but shielding an ADC doesn't actually make them play any better. If my carry keeps getting grabbed by blitzcrank that person is going to die, and my shield won't change anything. Furthermore, a player in the support position is there for the whole game as opposed to only the lane, and the decisions get a lot harder when you have one shield but 2 or 3 of your teammates are under heavy assault. You have to make a snap decision based on who's in the right position, who might actually die and who's simply gonna get low, who can get themselves out, who can turn the teamfight or at least survive the loss, and basically pick the survivor. You have to do all of this in less than the time it took to read the first two sentences of this paragraph. "Supports are easy" is very much a false statement. They can easily get carried, but so can any other spot. When a support is being the difference between victory and defeat, if can be difficult to spot, but that's when the difference between a good support and a bad one really shines. They are often playing the game differently, often with less emphasis on the micro, but their role is no less difficult for it.

He's already the worst champ in the game. it's not about strength, it's that I just want to go a patch or two without him in 70% of games he's not banned from. I don't play him, and not one thing about him(not his kit specifics, not his general style, even his soundset is grating) is enjoyable to play against.
Blyted (NA)
: Old Urgot ultimate
it was interesting but ultimately useless. I recall a thread where people tried rewording ultimates to make them sound useless(pantheon falls) and one dude got the most upvotes by copying and pasting urgot's ult straight from the wiki. The move's major issue is that it's nothing special as a catch-out mechanic, but as initiation it mandates a full tank kit to survive the result, yet it needs to get ahead in lane to the tune of a full item or more to have the required stats to accomplish that. When full tanks reliably get ahead in lane by that much, the champion is rightly considered broken, getting nerfs. It turns the ulti into a 1 for 1 move and negates any advantage the user ever built up. you could sometimes find a weird use for it mid team fight rather than near the start, and it would be nice to take certain enemies {{champion:157}} {{champion:203}} out of their comfort zones/put them into bad ones, but that's not a reliable set of effects to design an ultimate around. Even a normal move like this would be hard pressed to be reliably helpful.
: Yeah, just like {{champion:64}}'s case.
note that he was an issue until they bit the bullet and nerfed him anyway. High priority in all levels for years, often unbannable because the real ban priorities were just that broken at the time.
: This has been a problem with Yasuo for quite some time now. Even after the initial wave of complaints, he's proven to be consistently difficult to balance, and always high on ban priorities. One can claim as much as one likes that he's one of the most popular champions to play, but when his ban rate has been above 50% for years now, sometimes over 90% for sustained periods of time, that cannot justify his current design. The fact that Riot has also made no attempt to change his gameplay after all this time, when champions have received snap-reworks for less, is also concerning, and suggests there are some serious problems with how champions are perceived and prioritized internally. Personally, I think there needs to be some kind of happy medium between Yasuo outplaying his opponent, and him flat-out denying them on demand. The combination of his auto-shield and Wind Wall, for example, is overkill, and shuts down many ranged mid laners without him needing to do much about it. What I feel doesn't get talked about much is that Yasuo doesn't have all that much counterplay at melee range, as he deals a ton of damage extremely reliably, including with a Q that has no meaningful delay at higher attack speed levels, which makes him all the more frustrating to deal with when he uses the copious amounts of mobility at his disposal to reach his target. Coupled with a significant degree of poke, plus anti-tank damage, and Yasuo effectively one-ups everyone he plays against, offering few options to deal with his kit. He needs fewer total strengths, and he needs to offer proper windows where opponents can fight back, as well as opportunities where he can be punished as hard as he can punish others. Until then, he will remain a frustrating and unpopular champion.
That's a LOT of words to say that Riot plays favorites and the hypermobile carries are the beneficiaries.

But I think he's actually right, we're in the minority of people who enjoy playing tanky champions. They aren't flashy, don't get 30 kills in a game generally, and have a difficult macro job that most people simply don't have the brainpower to understand even though its the simplest job function in the game. They'd rather play something they can face roll and randomly pick up a couple kills and then all chat "outplayed" when they really don't even know what they just did.
I'd MUCH rather play a tank when my girl sona isn't going to cut it for the current comp. I'm just far more encouraged to play pyke or brand or whoever because everyone blows up so fast it doesn't matter if i'm a tank or not. So I pick the champ who can be part of the nuking.

If something is a four armed four legged spider person it must be safe to assume it comes from a place where that is considered normal, or has an explanation of why it exists otherwise. No. It's not safe to assume anything. That's rediculous. It's a world that you are allowed to see through slits in the wood. Your trying to rationalize everything. That's not how you can approach this. It's fair to ask questions. But your starting from the assumption that you understand the biology and chemistry of a world with magic. That's silly. Magic doesn't exist in this world. So based on that alone we should assume that the world is literally nothing like ours. There is literally no reason to assume that the laws which govern our world have any influence whatsoever on that world unless it's reflected in the stories. You first read the stories and try to figure out what you can and what is 'real' from them. And after that you can theory crafting and ask questions. You do not start from the assumption you understand everything and then wait for something to disprove you. It's an insult to the writer.
"It's not safe to assume anything." Point of Order: Basic worldbuilding disagrees. If a fantasy setting tells me that a Yeti has 4 arms, I'm game, Yetis have 4 arms. If all the other Yetis have 2 arms, and all their ancestors have 2 arms, and we're told of at least one of these facts, now this needs addressing.* Now, the rules of evolution properly applied millions of years backward is admittedly something you gotta let go of with any world not designed with the help of an evolutionary biologist or two. Instead, the go to rule is that creatures of the same species have forms little further apart than your typical pair of randomly selected humans. Runeterra follows the latter rule, and the only hint that the former even exists is Gnar. Humans are humans, and every one of them that rises above the pack/becomes different gets explicit lore about him telling us why. Same with Yordles. Void creatures are explicitly different from each other because they don't originate in the same way normal life does outside of the void. We see one of plenty of species (Zyra, Nami, Soraka, Anivia, Bard, and Rengar to name a few) but have no reason the believe they are unique in the world. This, from a species perspective as we learn what we see, makes a couple problem children, but in fact the only examples I can find are yordles( either version of Willump is unique in our vision of the world. We have no comparison). Fizz has been brought up, and both tristana and lulu are lacking fur with purple skin. If it was just Lulu I'd say unstable transformation magic applied with questionable sanity, but tristana has no explanation here. *It doesn't have to be addressed _well_. Radiation? Magic? Genetic manipulation? Sure, let's go.

Mobility tend to refer to dashes, blinks, and other extremely rapid movements that can put you instantly out of a skillshot's way or in a champion's face. MS gets you around the map, but dashes are the problem for aiming stuff and playing against them.

Does that mean NOTHING just because a low player said it? This actually touches on a point that higher ELO people don't respect: If a bronzie says something is too strong (we'll go with Volibear support for this post, oddly popular in low elo for ages), he can be both right and wrong at the same time. He's wrong because volibear doesn't get the cash he needs to tank up or get damage, loses a slot for the ward item, and gives up major amounts of the utility expected of the position. he's wrong because almost every common support and most of the uncommon ones will stop him in his tracks every single charge. he's wrong because he'll get mercilessly poked out with no recourse. And the come teamfight time, he'll have no damage, lower than usual tankiness, and a weaker ADC backing him up. And yet is he really wrong? because when a volibear charges down a bronze player, that guy doesn't always just CC him and roll eyes. They panic. they flash away, they miss a skillshot, they let him get there and then all in the voli while his ADC goes nuts. They wander way too close to the bush they watched him go in, trying to ward. and through the imperfections of the bronze player's actions, what should be weak becomes a lot stronger. Then the game becomes team deathmatch for 25 minutes, and he racks up enough assists to be a proper tank. No wards? that's fine, other team wasn't warding either. There's a reason pro balance and solo balance are considered a bit differently. It's often less talked of, but high and low elo also have that same division.
: No news as of right now. I personally play a fair bit of WK, and don't feel particularly great about his play pattern atm (just build pure assassin and murder any squishy dude you find), but unfortunately, my team doesn't have the time atm to take on larger work for him. If we could though, I'd be interested if we could make him more of a fighter than an assassin since I always thought he was more fun with you got to take passes on your opponent before finishing them off. Whether that's removing some of his ad scaling on abilities, giving him more hp/resists and rejigging some of his cds to account for it. Sorry, my thoughts on WK are super underdeveloped and that reply probably sounds incredibly surface level. What do you think of him in his current state?
I know I'm late to the thread, but it sounds like you have an issue with the fact that defense items are horrible to build in most cases right now, so you're rewarded quite easily for nuking glass cannons from stealth, an idea cemented by the existence of multiple clear, easy build paths and rune options to accomplish the task. Wukong feeling like a boring nuker isn't a wukong problem, it's an item and rune problem seen over a good 30% of the roster.
: Can Root abilities actually root?
This was hashed out in 3-5 threads when they changed ahri's charm to no longer stop dashes, while veigar's cage had just picked up the function. Short version is get rekt skrub, get some caffiene and keep up with the CoD twitch kids. Long version is that there was no response but 2 years of damage and mobility creep speaks louder than any post they could ahve made anyway. They didn't listen then, won't listen now, and won't listen tomorrow.

Lore-wise, what you describe is closer to Garen and Katarina. Darius is actually rebelling against his country and trying to take it over. I just don't think that Garen and Darius have enough in common to warrant a "potential friends if only..." scenario. Versus writer here. I can extrapolate a little bit. On the lore side, Darius at his core is someone who believes war solves all problems. Your usefulness in battle (and in general) determines your worth as a human being, and when you aren't useful anymore you are rightfully cast aside (ironically this is also what he most fears). He also hates weak rulers for this exact reason, preferring no ruler to an unworthy one. Garen understands the real and severe shortcomings of Demacia, but fights for their causes anyway, even if this doesn't serve to make Demacia any better - in fact, it might just be making it worse. It's less about making people's lives better, and more about protecting the vision of a perfect Demacia. I took those aspects of their personalities, upped the power level, and pushed them to the extreme fringes of their own belief systems. Those are the God-Kings. The seeming imbalance isn't 100% accurate -- the numbers for each side's quest completion were, as opposed to last year, _incredibly_ close. As I understand it, Garen _very_ nearly won (he is very, very, very popular in regions outside the US/EU). As for community, Garen and Darius is a rivalry that dates back to the Journals of Justice days. They are essentially each other's counterpart from rival factions. It was and continues to be a really revered pairing, and that's why they were chosen. Hopefully that explains the thought processes a little better!
Yeah, maybe. The problem is that in the details you squooshed any reason to care about either. Follow one and he loses? you gon die. Follow Garen and he wins? Kiss his bum for eternity and never make a meaningful choice again. Humanity as a whole (or just his country? when things literally go "god-level" this sin't quite clear) probably stops progress forever and stagnates. Follow Darius and he wins? Eternal war claims you sooner or later and you die like a dog in some pestilent alley. This spreads like a worldwide deathmatch bracket until one dude is left, who then gets dunked. IMO your best lore event ever was bilgewater, where we watched Graves, TF, GP, and MF do their thing. The writing was on point, GP as the butcher's bridge announcer is something I still wish was an option, and there was a lot of character development. GP "dying" was also super creative.
: I don't think he meant "best" as in strongest, but "best" as in "best design".
It's this. I apologize for lack of clarity. he may be an assassin but, as a support design, he cannot nor should he solo people.
: so... make every single champion a support champion that is completely useless since most items and runes + masteries that aren't support focused don't really work well with you? ok
pyke is the best assassin in league today because he actually has to use, and land, his kit, and each skill has multiple use cases when doing so, but those use cases are rarely both used at once.

cut with the .1 second thing. Wukong goes fairly fast from "invisible but not hurting you" to "you can't survive at this point", but between "you can't survive" and "your screen is grey" there's a knockup with continuous damage in which the support's exhaust can and will make a difference, potentially changing the result. The real problem is that ignite generates too much kill pressure in bot lane 2v2, so a support can't really afford to take exhaust and be unable to match it.

TBH I didn't expect you to actually give me that. As you did, lets dig in and see what we find, eh? So: he won, it was 35 minutes, 2 assists. Their whole team had less assists than kills, with Darius being the deciding factor, likely by soloing malphite a few times. As CS of 300 strongly suggests spiltpushing, Veigar would W away at least half the minions per wave of a deathball situation. He did 15K true damage but seeing as a max health Zac or Mundo will max out at about 6K at 6 items, it highly unlikely most of that resulted in kills, instead just chasing people out of lane or overkilling by as much as 6-800 on a few dunks. Now lets look at conqueror, specifically: PASSIVE: Entering combat generates one stack every second for the next 3 seconds. After reaching 4 stacks, your next basic attack against an enemy champion consumes all stacks to grants 10 - 35 (based on level) bonus Attack Damage for 3 seconds and converts 20% of your damage to champions to true damage for the duration. All stacks will wear off after 3 seconds out of combat. Honestly, it really does read like a darius or tryndamere main designed that. Because he's splitting, he'll constantly be "in combat". This means that as soon as someone tries to fight him, he's getting the buff because of W, and then get the most out of the duration of the buff because that's how long he can keep you around. E,W,Q, R, ignite is going to land a lot, possibly over 1K, of true damage but probably not kill a tank with a heath item unless he can chase. Your tanks had HP on account of the 4 AP comp, so that might be why his kills were so low in this case. Come after him with multiple people, and his Q can get a LOT of true damage in one swing under the conqueror buff, but it's spread among targets. I'm gonna guess this happened at least twice. Then, there's also the effect of the damage based on game time. We all know that as malphite has armor built into his kit, and even some true damage is going to make it hard for someone like darius to cut through him in lane if malph is careful. which means that while he might get chased out, that true damage won't really stick any harder than normal physical damage would: be 30% HP or 10, he's recalling, so it adds to the number without changing anything unless ignite is there to finish the kill (hard to chase a malph after the fist combo). Also, after the second inhib went out, did he execute anyone? did it change the game because it was true damage? I'm guessing no. Finally, remember that conqueror is a conversion of damage to true, not an addition of true on top. Obviously it increase damage done, but comparing his true damage to his physical would probably show that the physical damage damage was a good chunk lower than you'd expect from a darius. So what I'm seeing is that someone who takes a champion, rune, and summoner spell to do true damage....does true damage. I must be a jeenyus. But is it too much? Well, maybe not. See, his ultimate hasn't changed, and the people who truly have an issue with it just because of the damage type are pretty few, really just whining about it when the champ as a whole is strong. Ignite top comes and goes, I've seen it phase in at least once per year since I started. Going through my own match history, Ignite never seems to go over about 2K(taken from champs who have no other sources). A splitpush cho(no smite, tank runes) did about 5K to champs in the same 35 minute timeframe, and he did 20K total true damage so he spent a lot of time eating minions. So we can guess that darius PROBABLY did about 7-11 K true damage with ult+ignite, so I'll go with 5K as a result of the rune because his ult can't do anything else and gets resets(that cho would have had plenty of time spent on CD). Conqueror therefore changed 5K of physical damage to true. this means that he would have done around 20K physical damage. Added together that 25K, plus the 10 or so K damage done by ult+ ignite is 35K damage total. Even considering the non-killing damage, and the (likely significant) overkill damage from ult, your problem isn't there was a ton of true damage. It's that this darius went off like the war god his skin proclaims him to be.
: It's more a relic of the previous rune system, where you *couldn't* modify your runes before the game. If you can modify your pages fast enough, don't bother buying them.
To expand on this because I have nothing better to do, and for the benefit of our younger summoners: The old rune system the vets and, well, anyone more than about 2 seasons old misses had a truckload of runes you could assemble into pages. There were 4 types, each assembled into a full page by the following amounts: 9 Red* 9 Blue* 9 Yellow* 3 Quintessence *These had non-color based names and literally no one cared. Even colorblind people like me call them by the colors. Now, these runes only did one thing: they would increase a stat. You would go to the store and pay blue essence (called IP back then, if you're new enough to not remember the old runes, but it's the same stuff) to unlock a rune. You would then add that rune to whichever pages you owned and wanted it. and then select that page in champ select. You would then receive the corresponding stats in the game. In total, a full 30 rune page had the approximate stat bonus of a partially completed item(around 1500 G if memory serves), though the exact gold value varied quite widely depending on your selections and the game balance at the time. However, there were a LOT of options. You could accentuate your late game power with runes that started weaker but ended up 2-3 times as strong, or take static runes for a stronger early boost that never grew. each color had an affinity, with reds being offensive, blues doing the best MR and regen, yellows doing the best armor, so you could maximize their individual effectiveness at the cost of focus, or make a strongly focused set at the cost of efficiency. You could stack damage, attack speed, mana regen, health, health regen, move speed, gold gain, %max health, armor, MR, energy regen, and more. It was effectively crafting an item with no passive or active to your personal playstyle, and it didn't take a slot. These couldn't be changed in the lobby, but they were paired with mastery pages, which could. These mastery pages were similar to the rune pages we have today, but were much larger if a little less exciting on each level (simply more stats in most points). Those pages were free, but pre-making them was advisable since putting one together could take a bit longer than the current iteration. As someone who had 20 pages, I had 2 for each of my mains at any time(to adapt to enemy team comps and likely strategies), one for "main" champs of off roles when I couldn't support(unusual but they did see use), 4 more for general styles when I was trying someone new but didn't really know what to take, a couple for ARAM, and a couple for troll builds, and a few leftover to change when I wanted to do something specific. Each of these was directly paired with a mastery page so I didn't have to stress out and screw up in champ select. The major downside was that you had to buy the runes. Want 9 attack runes? cool, get them or get the 6300 BE champ you wanted them for. Oh now you want SCALING attack? pay up again. It gave massive and kind of unfair flexibility advantages to the older crowd, which were only made worse if the younger player couldn't even afford a full page yet.
: A 6/2 Darius did over 15,000 true damage to champions with only a black cleaver
I need more data. Someone with 3 different true damage sources did 15K true damage throughout a match of unspecified length, and only got 6 kills out of it? How long was the match, how many assists did he score, did he even win? if ALL of that was damage that contributed to a kill he scored, he should have been able to score about 10 kills on Zac, more on the others. Conqueror is a bit of an issue but your argument lacks the context to create meaning.
: Please do something about Jhin and Stormrazors
Dunno who downvoted this, it wouldn't be the first time a champ became an issue because of an overlooked interaction with an item change. Riot nerfed Warwick 3 times, and then almost every item he used, because he had this kind of synergy with the original devourer and red smite. Don't trash Jhin, just look at his passive.

: Riot's lawsuit on mobile legends?
Just to pile on, they also had Undertale's music in their trailers.
: That's what happens when Riot intentionally builds a character to be more likeable than it's counterpart. I sided with Garen because I despise anarchy but even I can see how badly characterized he is (and how he looks like a chinese warlord that believes to be a untouchable God rather than the leader of Order).

Near as I can tell, the logical conclusion of Darius' vision is human self-extinction. I picked garen for the kitty, and because I'm colorblind and can't see red correctly so blues look better to me.
: Is gold funneling healthy for the game?
Funneling and game health is a bit of a weird conversation. Ultimately, I think it'd be a perfectly fine win condition, even with the whole non-interactivity thing, save for one issue: The map itself dies too fast. Overall, a funnel comp's concept is the same as a juggermaw comp, but atm the whole map dies too fast during what is ultimately a temporary power spike. level 18 6 items with elixer is as strong as that kaisa or whoever will ever reach, and if the enemy team ever catches up to her she SHOULD be screwed. It just doesn't really work out that way since the general snowball effect of the game is far too high right now, and "holding out and coming back" hasn't been an effective strategy since elder dragon became a thing. Funnel comps push the carry into a power spike extremely fast, then rely on that power spike to end the entire game. This is only possible because Riot cut everyone's defenses, introduced craptons of mixed and true damage, added push power to several objectives, weakened said objectives, weakened turtle champions, and made towers successively easier, not harder, to take. If this was really a strategy that would have been a good thing, it would have been seen long ago to almost auto win against the champions that act as time bombs on the opponent: Nasus, Kayle, Veigar, anyone who scales into a hypercarry late game but needs 3 items or some sort of time or minion based completion to really come online. However, winning the game not just on the back of, but entirely within a temporary power spike has never been viable before. I don't like it. I don't like that everything and everyone can die in this kind of fashion. However, whether this is to be considered good is up to Riot in the end. The emergence of the funnel is a symptom of the state of the game, and it's up to them to decide whether they like it.

: Thats initiation. He doesnt have a real escape without losing all his offensive power, as opposed to real assassins.
His pattern changes on the situation though. If the enemy will die before he does, he can go full HAM and you don't need escape: no one would. in a 2v2 W can escape after killing the first target: it's not part of his damage rotation and he can start the fight with Q, then stun with E. In a 3v3 or higher, he might fish out an enemy with Q, teammates follow up while he ducks aggro with W, finish squishy with R, dance out of the fight with E and stun someone on the way, get another R if possible. The thing about pyke's kit that makes him so nice to talk about as an assassin is that the combos aren't set in stone. Everything he's got has at least two use options, and you'll rarely get to do both at once. He's versatile, but unlike other versatile assassins, his moves require you to actually hit them aggressively to score a kill, and otherwise you're wearing them down for your team.
: This is why Riot doesn't listen to the boards. Pyke sitting at 47% winrate and getting called "balanced". Some people in the comments are also still complaining about his damage and when statistically, Pyke does less damage than most normal SUPPORTS in the game, let alone assassins. And the people who point out Pyke's very valid and obvious flaws get downvoted.
Pyke is an assassin with downsides in the support slot. Assassin mains aren't used to downsides anymore(see the rest of the thread), and support mains aren't used to assassin mechanics. Also, people keep trying to lane and jungle with him and it doesn't work, which is reducing his win rate. Total damage done is worth less than damage that sticks: if I harass and soraka heals it back, i've not actually done much.

: Statistically speaking, a person has a 25% chance of selecting both winners completely randomly.

Keep going, keep a list: maybe you'll get to show off 5 or more if they keep doing these. That'd be pretty cool.
