: I see Xerath, Ziggs, GP, and Lux got buffs
As a xerath support main, I was happy and surprised to see him getting some buffs. i think xerath was already in a decent spot. The radius and range of his buffed w makes it really strong. The tiny buff to his R is pretty meh. I don't think these changes alone will get him play at worlds. He's still a glass cannon that shatters the moment anyone gets close to him. I hope I'm wrong though, I'd love seeing him get some pro play

I miss the days when ziggs bombs didn't bounce directly over people.

I moved into plat5 this season and can confirm. Last game our ADC launched into a violent episode of word vomit before finally rage quitting. What if all of ranked is "elo hell"?

I do see a very high amount of dodges. It's hard to know if it's because of my pick or just some other reason. Although, sometime I get flamed a bit before someone dodges. As far as 9x reports, it's not something I had to worry about. I don't feed hard very often, although everyone has a bad game sometimes. More often it's the enemy team calling to report me for scripting than it is my team for having a bad game. I do my best to stay positive no matter how the other 9 act towards me. I play my best and that's all I feel I owe anyone.

It's very important to avoid the wave as much as possible in most cases. Messing with your adc's cs is the easiest way to tilt him and lose the game. That being said, you can definitely help push the wave once you've pushed the enemy out of lane.

: I got to plat a few seasons now running Botrk Zzrot bard. Just did it to solo flex que to gold as well. 18 for 18 bard in flex huehuehue. Lower elo almost No one expects the bard to 1v1 their carrys then force objectives.
I've run into two really annoying bard tops this season. So hard to catch the slippery lil bastard.
: I'm a Lux support main. Have you tried her? What are your thoughts on the two as a comparison? I take 3.8 mana per 5 in runes when I go support, if I got the number right. Do you think Xerath would have the advantage there because of his passive, or would Lux have the upper hand for her damage passive? Congratulations on reaching Plat.

I definitely think Lux is a strong sup Mage and the lane can easily go either way. I think xerath will have the upper hand in the long run as far as the mana war goes. However, if Lux catches me or my adc with a few combos it won't matter. xerath will also have the range advantage. This match up, like most Mage sup vs Mage sup match ups, comes down to skill. Gotta dodge the skill shots.

Plus xerath don't get too close to get caught. > I did the exact same thing. A good xerath will be hitting you with q from outside of your vision. A lot of Mage supports have similar kits and are strong in lower elo. IMO it's xeraths passive that makes him a S tier support. He can maintain his mana early game and keep poking until the enemy is forced to back. I've already won a couple games in plat 5 and am looking forward to the push for diamond.

: First, congratulations :D Second, you belonged in plat anyways, imo. I love Xerath and after playing him mid I went support when mage supports were rampant (see Malz). I gave up after a few games, my last one was where my whole team died around base and the only kill 'we' managed to get was mine. It wasn't the first game/time that happened with me as ANY support, yet still manages to piss me off. And overall I felt there was literally nothing more I could've done that entire game, it felt more like work than my actual work, I was exhausted and my plat friend's excuse 'some games u just cant carry' was not satisfying. As I stated elsewhere, I think the carry potential increases with rank, and the presumption that bronze 1 can carry bronze 2, silver 5 can carry bronze 1 etc is just wrong. Offtopic, are you gon go flex from here on in? Or will you try reaching higher ground?
Thank you for the congrats. Xerath really depends on strong mechanics and mistakes are very costly. I was stuck for a long time in gold 3. At a point I decided to only play ranked when I'm in a good mood and feeling well rested. It was after that decision that I shot up to plat very quickly. I feel like a positive state of mind is what really ups your game to the next level. To answer your question: I'm gonna keep doing what I've been doing. I'll play norms/ twisted treeline when I'm tired and ranked when I'm feeling rested.

People consistently underestimate my damage and will stay in lane even when one more q will kill them.

It got really bad after those xerath scripting vids were going around a couple months ago. I generally worry more about the enemy support. A really good Lucian can be annoying, though. Supports like lulu/Janna can really slow down your poke early and save the adc from your ult. xerath snowballs super hard, so a shield that saves the 50hp adc can be tilting. If you're good with xerath's passive you can usually win the mana war and push them out of lane/kill them anyways. Assuming your adc isn't taking too much damage. My build is frost queens into lost chapter then sightstone. After ss finish morellonomicon and get boots. If I get some kills early and feel comfortable in the lane match up I'll pick up dark seal+ frost fang first back. If the lane isn't looking good I may mix up the build order a bit. Late game I go full damage only getting hour glass if the enemy assassins force me to.
: how I do dodge xerath q without 450ms because it comes out too fast and he can just stick it on me for an almost no indication no charge burst.

Oops, I misread that completely. Dodging xerath q can be very hard indeed. You can juke it sometimes but it's inevitable that you will get hit by some. You can try to go aggro early if you have the support for it. A good Leona can counter xerath early. The most important thing is to avoid staying in lane when you get too low. Xerath snowballs hard and you don't want him to kill you because you stayed to get those last few cs.

: As a Xerath Mid main, why Xerath Support? Are there any must get items to make it work?
I love xerath because of his range. he can carry much harder than most supports. He's strong in the current meta because of the state of adc right now. His passive is what IMO makes him the most viable Mage support.

: Does Riot plan on creating Supports with higher mastery curves?
Try jumping on the Mage support train. I main xerath support. I'm not sure if that's the type of mastery you're looking for but I enjoy it. Nothing beats landing 5/5 of your ult on the enemy carry, for the solo kill. Also, you're so squishy that if you miss skill shots or have bad positioning you die real fast.
Greas3 (NA)
: The reason that low level LoL players are called bad more than in other games, is because of what differentiates skill levels in this game. While the actual mechanical play is a factor in League, a lot of climbing in solo queue is literally just not making dumb decisions. While it may be difficult in the moment for people to figure out what constitutes a dumb decision, it's super obvious when observing someone if they are making dumb decisions or not. Most ranked games plat and below (yes I'm including my own play in this) are winnable by the losing side if they just hadn't done 4-5 dumb plays that they almost definitely did during the course of the game. Watch your own replays. I guarantee that you will cringe at least once watching yourself do something that's so obviously idiotic you would expect a new player to know better. Players who stop doing these kinds of things entirely and convince their team to not do things like this during games climb elo and eventually get high diamond - challenger. TL:DR because Gold players are dumb.
These are some good points. I try to ask myself what I did wrong every time I die or an objective is lost for nothing in return. It's something really easy that will help you become better. Just be honest with yourself. Blaming your team is the easy route but only leads in circles.

: Not-So-Daily Reminder That Runes Cost a Butt-Ton of IP
I filled out two rune pages ( one for ad and one for ap) years ago and never looked back. Sure, I've faced a slight disadvantage in the thousands of games I've played since. Sure, I may be able to climb to a higher rank if I had all the appropriate runes. Sure, I could have filled out more pages over the years, and have even sat on large surpluses of ip. But I won't. I refuse to participate in the gruelling grind for overpriced runes. Runes in LoL are anti-fun. Until riot overhauls the system I will simply ignore them all together. They're not worth my time. TL:DR as long as people keep buying the overpriced runes they won't get any cheaper.

If you truly deserve to be at a higher rank it doesn't matter what you play. What matters at low elo is how you play. You can play the most garbage of champions and do pretty well if you actually play like a mid-high elo player. Low elo players lack quite a few things that you can take advantage of very easily no matter what champion you are using. You can pick something that would allow you to take advantage of them easier but it's not necessary. I am not saying for you to go and pick something like trynd support all the way to diamond but you can very easily at the bare minimum get out of bronze and reach high silver with him if you actually play like a high silver/gold player
But surely you can agree some champs will have a much easier claim than others. I think xerath is better then a lot of meta champs even.
: It won't matter. They *will* get to you. It's not a matter of if, but when, and they only have to do it one time. They get you or your carry one time and you have no way to stop them once they do. You can play hide and seek all you want to. You will have to poke your head out once and that's all it takes for the dirty hookers to end your night.
The same can be said about any support, though. If you get blitz hooked at level two you are going to die. I covered this in the cons. If you miss your stun on the blitz running right at you, you are in trouble.
: you can pick ANYTHING at low elo and as long as you are good with it you will do just fine
While you may get lucky and have a decent game with any champ, you're gonna have a hard time keeping a decent win rate. 60% win rate playing trynd support is gonna be hard.
: Like every other low-speed mid-lane mage not named Zyra, this is easily countered by the "Dirty Hooker Squad". {{champion:53}} {{champion:111}} {{champion:412}} They will get to you, and once they do, Xerath has nothing to defend himself with.
I disagree. the only time you need to get in range of their hooks is to AA them for your passive. Just stand in the minions.

: Hey Riot fix botlane please
I've been playing a lot of xerath support this season. I feel like he fits the current meta. (Silver 4) Pros: -Big damage early without much for items. -safe poke -2 second stun for that pesky jungler coming in for the gank -long range AOE slow - great ult for finishing off their greedy adc who didn't back even after being poked to 10% hp. -very fast wave clear for taking early towers, after you force the enemy bot to back -large impact on the game. Not many supports can solo the adc late game. Xerath does it from outside their range. cons : Very squishy, If you miss your stun you are in trouble. -can tilt your adc if you're not careful about avoiding minions. (Your adc doesnt care that you're chunking their support for 1/3 their Hp, you took a cs) -sometimes your team declares the game over in champ select. THATS NOT IN THE META TL:DR Xerath support is good in low elo. Just this week I had a game going 25/5/11, beating second place damage to champs by a wide margin

I was actually excited to be placed in bronze after going 7-3 in my placements. I've played LoL 4 years and until now was never allowed to experience the cesspool that is bronze. Other than all the chat spam (TRUMP! TRUMP! TRU... Etc) it's been great. I wonder if it's actually the bronze experience though and not just a bunch of silver/ gold, that were thrown in bronze. Maybe I'll stick around a while and find out.
: Looking for meta breakers to join me in my quest in normals
I break the meta on the regular as a support player. I play a lot of varus, kennen, and xerath support. Ironically, I have no interest in having meta breakers on my team. Being a meta breaker is a way of life. You must be purely dedicated to a meta breaking way of life (sleeping underneath your bed every night, driving on the wrong side of the road, etc.) I have no faith in these wannabe meta breakers, who simply pick a silly champion because they enjoy losing games of lol.
