: Ant, I respect your opinion and am glad you have found a champion that resonates so well with your personality. That said, _ZOE IS AN ABOMINATION._ She is my anathema, a horrifying reflection I find absolutely disgusting down to the most insignificant minutia. > She's annoyingly bubbly, Facetious! > high-energy Frivolous! > and free-spirited. Foolish! And what's worse, her distinctions only intensify the similarities! A burst mage, of all things! A child invested with _cosmic power_ that can warp the tenuous fabric of reality, pull apart the strings which bind our universe; magic beyond comprehension! Charlatan, I say, who squanders an undeserved gift in the pursuit of pointless pleasures! > I see a lot of myself in this character. She hits all the right notes for me and I identify with the character more than any other Champion in the game. Regrettably, and through no fault of your own, we are destined to be mortal enemies, just as the Lux mains before you; I will not suffer the presence of joy or positivity. https://78.media.tumblr.com/31ab6840d7d58268c296c8c8a1c2a1cb/tumblr_n9w0a2E8oT1qbgzreo1_400.gif
10/10 - Impressive character commitment, ty for the lol :D

: Teemo is one of my favorite champions for his personality and art style. And aviator Irelia is one. I like other more serious ones, but sometimes all this endless "look at me, am I not incredibly angsty and serious" gets old real quick. I mean, have you ever looked at the eyes of the champions and skins? Why are 99% of them so evil looking? You only have a few happy standouts like Lux.
To me, League of Legends has always been about that variety. I love Teemo, and most of my mastery is on Heimerdinger. I like that there are things that resonate deeply with me side by side with things my friends like. Zoe adds another opportunity for my expression in League. One thing we talk about all the time during development is a champions's 'power fantasy' - what makes them so cool? Why can they put up a fight against a literal god or demon or whatever else exists in our champion roster? Sometimes (for alot of league players) that looks like a really strong, kind of angry character. And sometimes, it looks like something more sparkly. Sometimes it's Teemo. :D Aviator Irelia is my desktop wallpaper. #ThatSmile

I personally don't think that the make up is needed and doesn't look right as it is and I've see quite a few comments on YouTube and the boards who agree. I understand if you can but i would really appreciate you considering it.
Hi Blades in Exile! You don't need to worry, I (and my teammates) are interested in all of your feedback, not just the praise. We're constantly checking the boards + other feedback channels during her PBE, even if we're lurking more than posting sometimes. I can't promise what changes will be made, but please give your feedback - we're listening and considering. <3 PS - I'll definitely pass this along for you
: Hi OwleyCat, This is a strange request for a bit of an old project of yours, but it will mean a ton to my content-starved heart if I end up getting something. I know that wonderful Marquis Vlad splash (blonde hair blue coat one) was a collab with Viktor Titov, but I wondered if, like with other splashes, there were several draft variants produced before you agreed on a composition? If yes can you find them and share them? Thank you so much, /r/Vladimirmains absolutely adore the art and we can definitely see your touch in it. It got me through some of the darkest weeks of my life because just looking at it reminded me there was joy in this world. Cheers, A fan
Hi Blood Magicks! One, thank you so much... YOU bring me joy in my dark weeks with your comments. That is a really cool idea! I know we did one "behind the scenes" thing before with the reference used in splash art, something that digs into the process of how some of them (like Marquis Vlad) are made would be really neat - I'm ALL about that process! I'm going to go ask some buddies around the office about how we could do that. Thank you for the suggestion!
: thanks for say who is the artist. I have a nice idea for next splash art works: You guys should put in a bottom corner a sign of the artist that created the splash art.{{sticker:poppy-wink}}
My pleasure, Jungler Soul. Signing splashes or attributing them isn't something I can do in the client, but I can definitely help you out. Feel free to ask me here on the forums anytime, I love sharing the work of my art heroes.

She, like a handful of other amazing artists, are regular contractors with us on Champion updates. I'm excited for her next one. :D

Hi Captain Tea! I'm so happy you love her... This splash was done by the very talented Jana Schirmer, you can check our her art on ArtStation here: https://www.artstation.com/janaschirmer She's one of my favorite artists, and this is one of my favorite Irelias :D

: Thanks a lot for your informative answer! If it's not too much trouble, what advice would you give to someone making the move from traditional art to digital art? How different really is it? great work on the eve splash btw, i love it :v

How different really is it? > > great work on the eve splash btw, i love it :v Hm... I think with art, tools are just tools, and Photoshop is just a big fancy one. The things you think about as an artist like color palettes and forms and compositions will translate as you get more familiar with any of your tools. It does take a little bit to get comfortable with a digital art program, but I don't think its that bad. Plus, tutorial videos are the best! You can find one for anything... Thank you so much! :)
: Hey, I just wanted to let you know you are my favorite Riot artist [(This is you, right?)](https://www.artstation.com/jessibean). Apart from perfectly executing really technically challenging things (the extreme perspective on Cowgirl Miss Fortune splash for example, wow) your splashes have so much soul to them. I look forward to seeing more of your work!

: rito, what program(s) do you guys use to make your amazing splash arts?
Hi Twiskies! I'm an illustrator on the Champions team. First thank you for your kind words, and you ask a good question! Its pretty standard to use Adobe Photoshop - I use CC 2016, at home and at work, with a Wacom tablet. I also think a program called PureRef is really helpful for organizing reference materials. There are dozens if not hundreds of reference images for each splash - from pose and character model to materials and lighting. Sometimes I like to sketch on my iPad with Autodesk Sketchbook Pro. When it comes to polishing, Photoshop is just too powerful to use anything else. I think the 'magic' comes from studying things like film, movies and environments and replicating believable effects like depth of field, atmosphere, dust motes, vfx, etc. It's not dissimilar to photo processing in Photoshop. Check out some youtube videos about really cool things like the color lookup and selective color tools. Hope that helps! :)
: Yasuo voice actor
Yay! Liam is also the voice of Illidan Stormrage! If you are into D&D at all - he plays a game every week on the Geek and Sundry Twitch channel with a bunch of similarly wonderful actors called Critical Role. :D
: Well I dont like the base splash artist for Evelynn. Dont get me wrong she's amazing at drawing guys and beasts but when it comes to females she's really bad at it and can tell she does it because she doesnt want to lose her job. You can spot all her female artwork by the way she uses the torso pose. start with the base art for sejuani then cruse around the other female skins and it's painfully obivious which ones she did. but hey riot has her on payroll so it's not like what we say is going to change anything.
Your comment is a bummer, but I appreciate that you took the time to give feedback. I am constantly practicing and working on my craft growth inside and outside of work because I want to get better. I didn't work on Sejuani's base splash, Evelynn is my first.
ZER0 2 (NA)
: They're so beautiful!!! I honestly think they may be the best splash arts in the game right now. The Base splash artist is: https://jessibean.artstation.com The Shadow Evelynn splash artist is: https://www.artstation.com/7200ss Kinda anyway, it seems they commissioned this person for the base art and then took his and finished it for the "official" version. But it's pretty much all him. The other splash artists haven't been revealed yet!
Sorry I am late to this party! (Been squashing Evelynn bugs and working on the next splash) I am so very happy that these illustrations are getting love... and I can fill in your artist list :D Evelynn's Promo Illustration: Zeen Chin https://www.artstation.com/zeen Base Splash: Me (Jessica Oyhenart) https://www.artstation.com/jessibean Shadow Eve: Sangsoo Jeong https://www.artstation.com/7200ss Masquerade Eve: Andrew (Theo) Theophilopoulous https://www.artstation.com/theonides Tango Eve: Bo Chen https://www.artstation.com/chenbo Safecracker: Victor Maury (of Urgot and Galio fame) did the updates to the existing image https://www.artstation.com/victormaury

: is it just me or her figure in tango splash is slimmer and less...hourglass like? in that case it would make it even more awesome as her demonic powers should let her be in the shapes/figures that her prey desires the most! i feel bad for those sad fools though.when you think about her title, death sound like a sweet deal compared to whats coming!
This was one of my favorite tangents when thinking about Evelynn - how her projection of what humans desire would evolve with time... she's had so long to perfect it and learn :D These days, the booty is definitely "in".
: I'm really glad they kept Twisted Fate in the Tango splash art. Wonder if his splash will be updated to be consistent with Evelynn.
Its true, this is a bonus splash update for Tango Twisted Fate.
: Is eve and tf still cannon at all? It was a neat idea story wise.
Because skins often depict alternate universes for League of Legends, _Tango Eve_ and _Tango TF_ are still totally a thing, and we wanted to keep it that way :)
Vhan8765 (NA)
: New Eve's voice lines are amazing; thank you to all involved who created 'em.
: The bunny speaks truth. Skins and skin splashes are updated as part of the VGU process. But you seem to already know that, lol. {{sticker:slayer-jinx-wink}} Your real question is, how much will we change the Tango splash, since it's a shared one with TF? I don't think anyone but Reav3 could give a firm answer. The Tango splash doesn't look up to Riot's current standards though, IMHO. I could start bugging Lonewingy, Evelynn's artist for you. :D
Interlocutioner also speaks truth! I'm a splash artist on the Champ Up team, and I can confirm that Eve and TF will stay dance partners in her updated splash, and it will be a whole new image. It's one of the Evelynn splashes I am most excited about :D
: any thoughts on highlighting "where you are" in ARAM champ select? it's a purely aesthetic thing, but I think it will look nice
Hello Opheriaux! When you say "where you are", do you mean my slot where my icon and name appear on champion select? If so, we have that! We use a bright yellow color to call out your name and highlight where you are on the screen. If I'm getting confused, though, I'd love to know more about what you mean :) {{champion:74}}
: Will you allow us to create our own sorting categories too? That would be helpful if I want to sort it by positions (Top, Mid, Support, etc). Maybe some could sort it by faction (Demacia, Shurmia, Ionia). Or we could just make a "Favorite* category for the champs we like the most regardless of role or position.
I really like the idea of more keywords when you search, and I think it's a goal of ours to make it easier to type some familiar keywords into the search bar and get cool results. Things like factions are a smart one, I know I often want to play a yordles-only game. :D Keep sending in feedback like this, and through the tool in the client!
Jabalor (NA)
: Seeing the new runes display and icons I still have my old Harrowing special runes, will they keep their spoooky icons or become something "normal"? :( What will happen to them!
Not to worry, Jabalor! Your special runes will still be there, from Harrowing (or Snowdown or any other other special occasions when they were earnable). It'll be a clean little icon, but def a spooky one. :)
: The yellow indicator which is equivalent to "in game/queue/champ select" is changed to a blue one
Hello! Visual Designer here from the client team. I feel you on the color read - I like when I can tell quickly what is happening, and color association can be so powerful. One thing we got really excited about, and may have been mentioned in our recent dev blog, is the connection between magic and metal that we feel equals Hextech. Our magic is blue, and we think it's pretty cool, so we wanted to use it as a color and a material that gets you closer to the game. Thats why our "Find Match," "Play," and "Play Again" buttons are all blue magic buttons. With this concept applied to the social panel system, it made alot of sense to make the "playing a game" status be blue, this lets us add in Mobile (gray) to our already established colors: away (red), online (green) while also reducing some of the color noise. Our really bright yellow we took out of the Social Panel status system for now, and use it other places to mean "you", just like the yellow health bars in game - so you can always see your chats, your icon, where you are. I also hear your feedback about wanting to organize games with friends. We're definitely looking at other things that (I think) can handle this in really cool ways rather than depending on our status icons to have to do it for you. Stay tuned! :D
: Champ select filtering
You can do this now on the legacy client... type "marksman" or "support" in the search bar, and you will sort only champs classified as those roles. It doesn't auto-complete for you, though. You need to type the whole word. I don't know if all the subclasses work, but the main ones definitely do. We will also have this feature on the client update, we're using the role icons for "marksman", "support", etc. as buttons for fast sorting at the top of the champion grid, and there will also be filtering in the search field. We'll try to auto-complete for you, tho :)
: Can we see more than just 3 of our top mastered champions? Sometimes it's nice to look at the in progress ones too and see all the champs everyone likes to play
Yes! This profile view is the Overview, which is meant to give a (smaller) snapshot of **your** unique stats as a player, so a little bit of champ mastery, a little bit of level, a little bit of ranked, your general play style. It's the intro to the Profile section, which in the future will include things like the Champions page that is in the legacy client. There you can see all your mastery in champions, progress, overall mastery score, etc. :)
: Im expecting Piltover concept art now after that sneaky teaser image in the post.

Hi, DarkKatalyst! I'm really excited about consistency in the new client, so having several wildly different screens that all represent Champion Select doesn't feel good. In developing the Blind Pick screen, we consulted with teams who make features like Ranked Team Builder or Rotating Game Modes to develop one flexible layout for all of the different Champion Select experiences (adding bans, adding role assignment, adding an extra person, etc.) Blind Pick gives the basis, or the bones, of the screen, and we can build up from there.
Newb (OCE)
: As a lot of visual styles clash in the LoL ecosystem of design (Website, Client and even the Images for news in the client) have you guys considered creating guidelines on how League of Legends should look like?
Hi Newb! I'm a Visual Designer on the client update, and this is totally something we talk about, not just on our team but with lots of designers and artists across Riot. The client is actually part of the ecosystem team here - we sit close by, we share work and talk very often, and there have already been some cool things made by our ecosystem teammates in the client update, as well as some of the more recent website upgrades, the new mobile app, etc. - as an aside, the new client style even got to help influence the in-game like Hextech Annie's particles and look. (OMG, that makes me so happy) Practically, it means we are making lots and lots of Style Guides and templates, teaching and getting feedback from our teammates (we have to make sure this style is actually flexible enough), keeping up with our shared Asset Library, etc. Its alot of work to get more cohesive, we have to do it together. :)
