: Is a strategy game still a strategy game if the developer made u only play the strategy they intended?
they don't make you play the strategy that's intended they nerf strategies that are anti-fun to motivate people to play in a way that can win them the game without making everybody else in the game angry a good example is zerg rushing in SC it was incredibly fun for the person doing it but the person who has to deal with the zerg rush could never enjoy the game making it bad gameplay even though it was incredibly effective
: Here we are again! The case of_ “Unusual Pick that Throws A Game on Its head”_ vs _“The Teammates going WTF Is Going On”_. [If you’re just tuning in we previously covered this topic with a similar case in December: “Support Singed isn't bannable, but that's not the point”. ](http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/79aGu3wR-support-singed-isnt-banable-but-thats-not-the-point?comment=006b) We feel that the situation between these two edge cases are very similar. But it’s obvious we need to keep updating a few processes to smooth out any rare repeats in the future. And rare is what we’d call this; it’s a very unique edge case that seems to only present itself once every few months among thousands of audits that we process. Let’s re-iterate our stance from before: **Q: Can I get banned for choosing a champion or strategy that is outside the current meta?** A: 100% no. Choosing a champion or strategy outside of the current meta is not a factor we take into account when reviewing accounts. On any given day tens of thousands of players are making unusual picks in the game and they’ll never receive penalties in any form. **Q: So why does this issue keep coming up? What makes it different?** A: Riot Gromp said it best in the previous post when they stated: “...common sense and good sportsmanship say that experimenting players need to clearly communicate intent and win conditions to their teammates.” League of Legends is a team game and sometimes the biggest challenge can be coordinating with 4 other strangers who share a common goal; victory. If a player is going to rewrite the rules for the rest of their team then there is more pressure to properly communicate to everyone what they want the plan to be, and what they think everyone should do to achieve it. But wait! Communication doesn’t stop after you press the Enter button on your keyboard; and that’s where we saw a problem in this particular case. All of us need to be aware of the difference of communicating “with” someone vs. communicating “at” someone. _Telling your team what you’re going to do and then ignoring them isn’t really working with them it’s holding them hostage_. Telling your team what you want to do and actually working towards a common plan is a central part to playing any team based game. In this case what we observed was an expert Nunu counter-jungler throwing the meta on it’s head with a respectable win rate of 53%. While pretty impressive on it’s own, we also found that nearly 50% of their games were reported by teammates as frustrating and unfun. Keep in mind, this isn’t just teammates in losing games, this is teammates across all of his games; victories included. The message was pretty clear to us, this player is serious about_ Making Nunu Great Again_ but they are leaving a trail of dissatisfaction, frustration, and anger in their wake. Winning is not the end all be all of League. We want players to have fun but not at the expense of teammates. Ideally this means players will coordinate among themselves in a given match and react to the unique circumstances they end up in. If a player is consistently forcing “their vision” on the rest of the team **and **refusing to adapt to their needs we reserve the right to intervene. That’s what happened here (and before with the Singed case); players cried out how terrible the experience was for them and we intervened. Moving forward we’re going to keep updating our processes for these edge cases. We will still be on the lookout for situations where a player is creating a really negative experience for everyone else and we will intervene when necessary. In this case it’s undeniable that TakeTheDraw wants to win even if their approach leaves a lot to be desired. The effects on others in his games were enough for us to lock the account and we stand by that. But our agents were not properly prepared with a process to handle this edge case when they wrote in and that is on me. I will be working with the team to clarify an escalation process that emphasizes clearer feedback and opens the door for ban reductions if we believe that someone can make changes to their play style allowing them to continue crushing the meta but not at the expense of their teammates.
Hasn't Nunu been in the support role fore a long time? I mean like... https://gyazo.com/63ed5e7a46075a6cf2677b3f15a639af seriously

The real problem is satchel charge plant my friends (not only speaking to you) Actually, smiting red buff can grant you health to also survive karthus ultimate. As well as smiting raptor grants you vision denial over the ennemy team, which is kind of similar as having direct vision. Those two just will apply differently, so that you can actually do both (smite dragon, have vision) But form of CC/gap closer/escape is new, and I can't argue about that one. **EDIT : BTW, they could simply remove smite buff and not adding plant, the lost of smite buff aren't that huge, globally it's just vision from wulfes and vision denial from raptor, who both can be added in stronger trinkets.**
The problem is that this is RNG though. Smite buffs are not and require somebody to actually use something they might need later and that something is something that generally only 1/5 people have per game. As for the situation with Gnar he 100% got outplayed but because he was lucky enough to walk into the river and heal however much health he was fine with no loss. If it was the same situation with red buff the jungler would have to have used smite which is an important cooldown and if karthus ults a jungler who's near red buff he doesn't deserve the kill because he should know that red buff heals you. Whereas the Karthus ulting this gnar he 100% deserved the kill because he outplayed Gnar but Gnar was lucky and had fruit sitting in the river to heal him. The situation with Lee and Nunu. Using the raptors smite buff requires thinking and planning ahead. Auto attacking a plant and being able to secure a kill and dragon is bullshit and requires no planning or skill which leaves Nunu the one who was smart enough to actually clear vision at dragon feeling like shit because he did nothing wrong but he was punished.

: Let's talk about Plants!
This looks ridiculous and actually removes a lot of >tactical depth The 3 clips show 3 enemies who outperformed the people using the buffs Jayce got caught out by Graves but because a random Zigg's W spawned Graves wasted time and potentially summoner spells and Jayce gets away free. Gnar gets caught at low health by Karthus but because there are random healing fruits on the river Karthus' long ass cooldown is wasted and Gnar gets away free. Nunu cleared the enemy wards before starting dragon or maybe the enemy was too stupid to even place wards but because Lee was lucky enough to have a mini clairvoyance it doesn't matter that Nunu did the right thing because now he's dead and he lost dragon.
: This change is smart. Perhaps ap kog will have a chance to come back a bit. Cudos.
doubt it his ult is going to stay as an execute
: Upcoming Kog'Maw Changes
I'm not a Kog'Maw player at all I've played maybe 6 games of him in the last 2 years, but if he doesn't have his old ult and he isn't able to break the attack speed barrier won't he be shit without having insane numbers? IIRC a lot of old Kog'Maw's potential came from his ult and when they gutted that it then became centered around his 5.0 attack speed. Without either of these what will he be able to accomplish?
: Godlike: a League film
This was somewhat entertaining but there were some parts where the acting felt pretty forced especially the scene where they were getting smoothies, the soundtrack wasn't fitting at all, it was weird that they were going for a really deep serious feel with the muted sound and the loud white noise while showing footage of him playing riven really put me off, and the cinematography seemed really basic and uninspired like it was the typical "We want this to come off as very serious and emotional so we show close ups of the side of people's faces and shots where it's much more zoomed out than necessary to give a feeling of frustration." It was still entertaining to watch though :) {{sticker:slayer-jinx-catface}}
: Assassin Roster Update - Rengar Direction
This actually seems like a cool idea. I was really upset with the update because I figured you would try to turn him into some kind of diver like vi or diana but this seems like it will be pretty cool. I do have some criticism though. Obviously I don't know what he will be, but I'm assuming the change to ferocity means when he's out of combat his ferocity will decrease but to counteract that he gains ferocity much quicker in combat. I feel like this kind of change will destroy his ability to do large amounts of burst the second you jump onto a target. Although you said in the ability section he will still have immediate burst but in a different form. So I'll trust that you can keep that gameplay fantasy around. >Rengar players deserve adrenaline-pumping, healthbar-chunking button presses, but they shouldn’t all come out in the same instant, and they should have degrees of failure and success. I don't really understand this with the change made to E that made so many bugs it's so easy to fuck up your entire combo now and completely fail and die instantly. Maybe I misread it but to me this sounds like you're implying if he gets the jump it's a guaranteed kill which until you're immensely fed is far from the truth, and even when you're ridiculous there are still lots of opportunities to fail and get outplayed by your opponent. I pray you don't fuck up Rengar him and Singed are pretty much the only reason I still enjoy this game. Fingers crossed.
: But it's not affecting people's ability to play the champion. The bug is just an animation not showing for his weapon changing, a ~.2 second animation isn't occurring, the weapon positioning still changes. The bug isn't as dramatic and big as you guys' are making it seem. Sure it would be nice if it got fixed, but it's still trivial and not inhibiting players.
except for the fact that the bug is causing a slight delay between when you attack and when the attack actually fires from the cannon

: Next Class Update - the Assassins
>Assassin damage needs to not happen literally in the blink of an eye. Providing opponents with a short window (even if it is fairly brief) allows for reactions to even be possible. Currently, some Assassins deal most (if not all) of their damage in the literal instant they arrive at their target which can lead to moments that are extremely unclear and one-sided. I'm late to the thread, but can somebody explain this to me. If an assassin were to have their instant damage lowered they would need to have their tankiness/survivability increased or assassins would be frustrating to play as because once an assassin is caught in CC they're basically dead. So wouldn't a change like this make champions who exist to kill one person instantly then just kind of float around until they can do it again such as {{champion:107}} basically become the same class as Vi, Xin Zhao, Diana, etc? EDIT: Before I get swarmed with hatred. I understand Rengar is unhealthy because he has a combination of one shot, stealth, and utility. As a counter argument taking away his ability to one shot is taking away his identity. There are more ways to make an instant kill balanced to play around than just removing the instant kill potential.

: Adam Harrington "Not an actor, guy from the street" Riot Ryze Dev Podcast
Considering the old Ryze VO is better than the new one even if he was some random guy off the streets I still wouldn't see the need for this blatant disrespect. This is honestly sickening that a company of this size would disrespect one of the people that helped build them up to what they are. Whoever said this deserves all the shit they're going to get. This kind of reminds me of when they reworked GP and gave him all new lines how they didn't contact the original voice actor for GP despite him doing such a fantastic job.

: Next Class Update - the Assassins
"On top of that, most of them kind of just do the same thing...be really, really good at killing a single dude." Isn't that what an assassin is. I honestly think the problem with assassins is that they're not just good at killing one dude but a lot of them are good at massacring entire teams because some of them have resets, 100% aoe damage, or low cooldowns.

Assassins fit their role and obviously do it properly seeing as they're a big reason ADCs and immobile mages needed updates in the first place. Yes, ADCs were really struggling for relevance with their... 100% pick rate throughout the entire season.
sorry for late reply I don't use league forums much. Yes they were picked almost every game through the entire season but they were extremely weak throughout the entire season and lack luster making them irrelevant in comparison. The last few seasons have had the lowest number of ADC Players ever, because why play an ADC and potentially care but more likely than not get one shot by an assassin when you can play the assassin and one shot the ADC?

: We're planning to do another class update at the end of the year (November ish, so after Worlds). Assassins are a strong option for that spot. We won't be doing another class update between 6.9 and Worlds.

: Patch 6.5 notes
I have a question with the change to leveling. Let's say I have an alt account at level 18. When the patch goes through will my account stay level 18 or will it hop to the level based on my current exp? Basically I'm asking if the change only applies to new accounts or if it also applies to pre-existing accounts. Thank yaw
: Retiring Dominion
It's pretty hypocritical how many people are saying "What about hide and seek?!?" "rip hide n seek" etc. Hide and Seek is dead. I've playing hide and seek for like 2 years every other day or so and in season 5 it went to shit and all people did was troll and kill people once they got out. It went from 10+ games in the "join game" section of custom games to 1-4. Idk about other servers but on NA at least people are so wrapped up in their LP they've forgotten how to have fun and they bring their desire to tryhard into the custom games community.

: I don't think Vel is all that balanced, but he is certainly better than most mages. I think the biggest reason he got selected is because his kit just doesn't fulfill the fantasy that he is suppose to bring. I doubt he's going to see too many changes. Most likely it's just gonna be changes to his E and Ult.
Vel'koz is balanced. If he does get the rework I'm hoping it's more like MF's where they just become better, and not something like Quinn or Graves where it has a whole new playstyle and kit basically.
Agent (EUW)
: Anivia is Jesus Tier in soloQ and somewhat decent in competitive. Galio... meh
I never said she was bad, she's unpopular and I don't think anybody can deny that.
: Vel'koz has ben complained about for being good, but too generic since his release, and it's exactly what Riot's saying. Good but too generic. God dammit, it was you, Vel'koz mains, who were saying that a few months ago.
I don't main Vel'koz I main Lux and Udyr. I don't see how he's generic I play him quite often and when I do I thoroughly enjoy it. I love his passive, his kite potential, his combos, and above all else that gorgeous fucking ult. If they do something like MF or Corki where they retain their identity but just have added benefits I'm fine with but I really don't want him to be gutted of his playstyle like Quinn was.

: Mid-Year Mage Update
Vel'koz is one of the most balanced healthiest champions Riot has released. I don't understand why he's in need of a rework. Some of the other champions I can see having something unhealthy about them but they are all still viable, healthy, and relevant mages for what they're made for. I feel like this should have been more focused on the mages that are too similar to another mage (Lux, Ziggs, and Xerath), thehe ones who have something anti-fun in their kit (Annie or Morgana), or the ones who have just fallen off the map in solo queue completely (GALIO, Anivia, etc.)
: Here's a post where you can ask questions about the stuff I've worked on, and I'll try to answer.
"I think it's almost embarrassing that Rengar exists in his current form..." I think it's almost embarassing that you say this when a lot of the champions you reworked we're just as broken if not more so than Rengar. Anyways my question. Is Pink Taric still going to be fabulous with his pink furry legwarmers and pink belt?

: He's really not that dominate or game changing. Braum has a very similar but better engage/disengage role and Leona/Nautilus are hands down better engagers.
He's not but he's popular because he has more potential to carry from support than braum, leona, or naut do because of his play making capabilities he's basically the Zed of support
: Yea this is a great question. Here's the high level points for each: Caitlyn * The zone control marksmen (traps are on a charge system now) * New play feel with headshot combos (trap and E trigger a guaranteed headshot on the target) Miss Fortune * The wombo combo marksmen (ult scaling way better, can crit) * New play feel with impure shots replaced with "love tap" new passive that gives bonus damage when swapping targets (this works well with Q) Kog'Maw * The true glass cannon hyper carry (tons of dmg needs protection) * W now doubles ALL attack speed and allows him to break the attack speed cap (but ad is lowered to 60%) Corki * Magic damage marksmen -> passive now does big magic damage instead of true and all spells now do magic damage * New mechanic: Special Delivery -> every ~5m in the game corki gets a special set of bombs in his base that allow him to cast a super mega W with much bigger range and impact Quinn * The map mobility/roaming marksmen * R reworked as a utility focused spell -> 0 cooldown and gives quinn crazy out of combat speed to quickly move around the map, not used for assassination anymore Graves * We finally made his shotgun a shotgun -> up close burst damage marksmen * Basic attacks fire multiple buckshots in a cone -> more damage up close * Q reworked to synergize better with the new basic attacks
God I hope the Quinn change doesn't go through.

I feel like her new kit is going to have a lot of problems. For example her ult If you need to auto-attack each area so the enemies back front and two sides this is going to be horrible for 1v1s because whenever you move the enemy turns to face you if they're auto attacking you and it will be hard to execute in teamfights because of how chaotic they are

I like the updates but changing Corki's q makes me sad I loved how it made dank sparkles
: I see this comment now and again, in the forums. We (My kids and I) don't have many problem on the NA server. Considering how much I see Riot busting their asses to fix bugs and make sure things run smooth, I would have to guess that the problem is your fucking system, not theirs.
It depends on where you live for example somebody on the west coast will have great ping because that's where Riot is stationed in NA but people on the east coast will have shitty ping because it's across the country.
