: Question is, do you, as developer, want to distract your community from your main game, that is popular, like really popular. It is imo risk they aren't willing to take. I would probably spend hundreds of hours in MMO version with good lore and at least ok mechanics.

True, but then again it could not only be their next big attraction, money maker, and cash cow, it would draw in so much money so fast due to the instantly plugged in fanbase that already surrounds League, they could afford any effects it may have afterward with as much money it would make upon release. On top of this, it would draw in new players that aren't fond of the MOBA playstyle in League, and eventually, some of them might give League a try out of love for the new game. To top it all off, League is always being updated and added to, and if they truly needed to, and with as much money as they would make, they could figure out how to bring back some old league features such as the game modes and stuff or just revive skin lines and it would always pull people back into LoL as needed, like a tide in the ocean they have absolute control over. And by the way, keep in mind when I say instantly plugged in fanbase, this isn't like any other massive game or developer where you take some classic old triple-A game and make a sequel or new addition to the series, and fans buy it and start playing, League players don't have to be pampered and drawn back in for a new game to come out of Riot, they are constantly playing League and if the new game followed the free to play model League has, players would just flood in the very second the game released, and so would the money, which should be enough for Riot to make this happen.
