: In my mind, here are the reasons to increase number of bans: - Give each player on the team a choice - Increase champion diversity by making it easier to shut down no-brainer or over-dominant picks - Potentially make spectating (especially esports) champ select more interesting - Maybe less motivation to use picks as an additional ban? I concede this one is iffy. And here are the reasons not to increase bans: - Champion select lasts long enough already - If you just keep increasing bans, at some point it gets silly (30 bans?) - Could shut down some very specialized comps (e.g. protect the Kog) - Could shut down signature picks (e.g. Froggen Anivia, or just the one champ that you really like to main) For champ select, it doesn't have to be the case that duration just keeps increasing, and it still feels a little long to me personally today. Maybe we should just shorten it. For the slippery-ish slope argument that ban numbers could potentially get silly, we could also just not do that, and as I've said before, it doesn't have to be the case that ban numbers just increase forever. Maybe we go to 10 bans and that lasts for the next several years? (We also make new champions at a slower cadence than we used to, so "What do when you have 200 champs?" isn't a problem we'll need to tackle soon.) The final two cons ("could shut down") is a little trickier, but could potentially be mitigated with some kind of snake draft so that all the bans don't happen at once. If you sense the enemy team is specifically trying to shut down your strategy, go ahead and lock in those champs you do need, or else pivot to a new strategy. I do think it would be unfortunate if pros and players alike just shifted to more generalist champions since they couldn't count on important team synergies. It's not uncommon in game design to be dealing with competing goals (such as making champion select fairly quick but also making it interesting). You just have to decide if one goal is ultimately more important, or try to come up with a novel solution that can meet both.
I don't see the problem of increasing the number of bans for solo/dynamic pub games, and leaving competitive 6 bans. Giving each player in solo/dynamic queue a 10-20 second option ban phase choice, that maybe a player could opt out of, and the ban pick would go to first pick or last pick. Which could add 5-10 more seconds to that players ban phase. Having no punishment for not banning would be optimal. As leaving some champions open and not banning them should be a strategical option. Making it so that all bans happen at once. Or a few bans on both sides at the same time. Could help reduce ban phase time as well. Again having the system so that punishment for remaining inactive and not picking a champion to ban. Should not be punishable and force dodge. Having an option some where "Opt Out of Ban" or "I choose not to ban." near the champion list, or ban button. it would give that players' ban to another player on their team. There are probably better ideas out there, but as League moves forward with champion changes, meta shifts, and champion releases. More and more champions are going to become either over powered, or too strong vs a certain champion. Either make every champion viable, and over powered with equal ways to get snowballed. Or make all champions average. Or increase ban phase, because even currently there are so many strong picks. There isn't enough bans. Stop using stupid excuses. Each post like this has been the same. "We are collecting more Data" or "Here is our reason." when the entire community can call your shit out, and see your flawed and circular reasoning. "Pick phase is long as is." Wouldn't be so bad if Dynamic queue didn't take 2 hours to find a game, huh? FFS
: It’s not a feature that’s currently planned to be added, but we do recognize that this is a feature that’s requested quite often. What we’re committing to is to conduct research on it to understand more of why players want an offline/invisible mode and what activity they expect to take while in that state. We usually conduct research via in-person player labs, surveys, and collecting data from players around the world. So, we are not going to say “yes” or “no” to the request at the moment, but we’re committed to learning more about it so the best decision that would affect all players globally can be made.
The entire idea behind Riot trying to literally force their players to make and have friends, that they actively play with is abhorrent. When I log into league instantly I have people asking me to play ranked/normals/aram with them. It makes me feel bad when I tell them no, not right now, and that I want to just solo. Is it really that hard to implement this mode, is it really that difficult to understand why many other games have this feature, and why it's a good thing? Being able to log into league, and knock out a solo ranked or two without being chat spammed would be really great. But I am one of those players who has been here since before season 1 and has been actively asking for invisible mode for nearly just as long. So once again, Riot is using their slogan "Soon" (maybe, but probably not.) smh
: Riot, you're not losing players because of lack of content
"Getting rid of SoloQ was one of the worst ideas of yours to date and you just won't admit that you made a mistake. " It's completely retarded that they know they fucked up. But now "We want to see if we can fix it and make it work." so the entire player base has to sit here and watch Riot tinker around with their RANKED SYSTEM for an entire season. Till they either give up and change back (which will never happen), or just say "Screw it, and screw the people who are upset." I've been on here since Poppy Release. I've seen the ups and the downs. But League of Legends is currently in the worst condition I've ever seen it in. The amount of toxicity and apathy in the community is at an all time high. Everyone is frustrated because of flawed systems, so tensions are high causing even more out bursts of anger during games. I just... I don't understand Riot anymore. They've become this parent who is always gone at "work" but they are actually going to visit some "escort" in Vegas. Or drinking rum out of a coconut shell on the beach of some resort. They are never home, and they don't seem to care about their "home's" situation or well being. I'm tired of being upset with Riot. I'm exhausted sitting here trying to defend a company that I once loved. "Soon"TM used to be a silly meme, but now it feels more like it's a way of life for Riot. Even possibly their middle name. "Riot SoonTM Games" smh I'm just tired of being tired with this game.

: Riot Pls: Dynamic queue, sandbox, and League 2016
Lets work on making it feel less punishing for not being able to carry a 3v5 from start to finish in ranked.

Couple bumps in the road now and then, can't let it stop you! May harmony find you~
: Unfortunately it's not. While new champ select intends to assign players roles without conflict, ultimately it's still up to them regarding how they want to play the game. If anything they can decide to do a 5-man mid push and that's a viable strategy. Yes, ppl not following their assigned roles will cause problems, but that's something players have to sort out and not doing so is likely going to cost them the game, hence players at the bottom of the divisions are more likely to encounter these situations.

I am fairly sure I remember Riot Lyte addressing this shortly after dynamic queue went live. If you get queued up for jungle, and pick something else that your team didn't agree you switching too. Yes it is reportable and suspendable. Take screen shots of the champ select chat log, and the champ/summoners. Send it in through /support.

That same player would lose the full amount, and if that player does it often enough they would get flagged and* banned/suspended. It's not perfect. But there are not many better ideas out there. Almost any idea can be exploited in some way. The way I am suggesting is a decent solution that has very few avenues of exploitation.

: @Riot Boots can be purchased more than once, again.
Not really worried about it. Since you cannot purchases 2 boots of speed. I was just thinking this may be a bug since they were changing things with enchantments re-purchases and things of that sort. I'm just thinking of the new players. Who might still try to stack upgraded boots.

It was before they made the Undo function. Because double clicking and getting 2x purchases was a HUGE issue back then.
