: OP.GG dodges = Riot "outsourced" matchmaking to the players
If you think you know the outcome of an event with a 30% probability of occurring in advance "beyond a reasonable doubt," you don't understand statistics.

I can easily get diamond this season if i grind. But why should i have to grind out games with team mates who aren't even trying and don't deserve to be at the elo they are at. If you have a 30% wr you should demote alot faster. And why is a 30% wr gold being placed in a game with me. A gold 2 who been playing in plat games since i was silver 2

And the rest of the ranked player base also has to play with dead weight on their teams at about the same rate you do. You're not special and Riot hasn't singled you out; if you're struggling to climb it's because you aren't doing as well as other players in similar conditions.
: Riot games is the source of all toxicity
No one controls your behavior but you. "My teammates died and then I flamed" is a chronological sequence, not a cause-and-effect relationship.

: Riot: Tell me how this was suppose to be a 50/50 match?
While I think the OP is being a bit whingy, it does seem to me like matchmaking has gotten a lot more loose in the last few weeks (maybe since the end of positional ranks?). This feeling is entirely anecdotal, of course, but part of me has started to wonder if they haven't relaxed the algorithm recently. It's possible the current meta just leads to a lot more blowouts, but I've also seen both Iron and Plat players pop into my Silver games...

: Riot's braindead ban system
Honestly, I wish Riot was quicker to take action on the kind of language you reference in the OP. Getting mad at teammates happens, but it's no reason to spread and perpetuate bigotry.

: If You want Riot to Listen then we have to Speak LOUD, to do that ...
Maybe stop to consider the idea that maybe the reason so many people keep playing is not because they're "addicted" and will suffer through anything, but because they enjoy the state of the game. Just because a few loud voices dominate Reddit and the boards doesn't mean those voices represent the player base.
: Riot - Please Stop. People HATE having to get content through Youtube and Twitch
Just stop. You're a spoiled child, throwing a temper tantrum. No one owes you anything, much less a vanity item in a videogame.
: Riot Riot aaid they're planning on position-based rankings that should help mitigated autofill problems. That said, however, I do agree that having autofills during promotionals can be problematic for whoever is trying to promote. Personally, I would like to see a slide option to indicate roughly how long a player is willing to wait before autofill kicks in.
> [{quoted}](name=AJStarhiker,realm=NA,application-id=ZGEFLEUQ,discussion-id=kQfnxzFy,comment-id=0000,timestamp=2018-10-13T18:32:03.462+0000) > Personally, I would like to see a slide option to indicate roughly how long a player is willing to wait before autofill kicks in. The problem with this (or the two separate queue idea) is that this moving your slider up increases the wait time for everyone, not just the player making that decision. If wait times get long enough, people stop playing. If people stop playing, wait times get even longer and you're in a vicious cycle where soon very few people are left and the whole thing collapses. In fact, depending how evenly requests for the various positions are, even a small change could have significant impacts on queue times as a "backlog" of empty slots in less desired positions accumulates (I'm sure Riot has access to extremely granular data on this front). I'm not saying that the current system is ideal (by any stretch of the imagination) or that losing players to increased wait times is necessarily worse than losing them over frustrations about the auto fill system, but I do think the problem is much more complicated than suggestions like these presuppose. Having said all that - if we're only talking about promo games it might not be that big of an issue. I don't know what percentage of ranked games have someone up for promotion in them, but you could probably handle them with a separate queue/procedure and not have it impact wait times too radically for other ranked games. (Personally, I loathe the promo system and think Riot should just use straight MMR, but that's another topic for another thread.)

I've been on the league subreddit. I frequent it quite often. I didn't see this abysmal display of toxic misogyny people have told me about. All I saw was backlash for blatant sexism in what is supposed to be a professional business. Of the which, he himself probably misunderstood as misogyny. And there's really no need to make special space for women. Just let anyone in until the seats are filled. It's actually easier than trying to deny access to people who just want to have a good time for no solidified reason. Back to Daniel, though, I can only see him refer to men as a whole. I never once saw him call out misogynists or redditors specifically. I'll reiterate. If he wanted to call out specific people, *he should have done that.* It's called clarification, and it's kind of really important when discussing these matters.

Whether or not you saw it is on you and your own reading comprehension. He said he wanted to exclude "them" from his spaces. Who is them? Let's look at the previous sentence, where he very clearly says "the manbabies in that thread." Again, you're free to disagree with his conclusions, you're even free to dispute whether or not the posters over there are misogynists. But there is no way to read that statement as being about all men without misreading his statement - and now that this has been pointed out to you repeatedly, there's no way to reach that conclusion without *deliberately* misreading it.

I think something to take note of is he never once said "misogynist." He *only* ever said "men." If he meant misogynist, he should have said it. I think that's a fair expectation.

Again, you're free to disagree with his notions about how to best achieve greater equality, but the only way to reach the conclusion that he is insulting all men or calling for their exclusion from gaming as a whole is if you think the behavior on display in the referenced Reddit thread is reflective of all men. It isn't.

Fix your brain. I mean. He said it. It's right there, you can read it. I didn't put words in his mouth or misconstrue them. And, no. I REALLY doubt Riot wants to ban 95% of their active player base for being male. The main point of this thread was to point out that this man is representing them in an incredibly toxic and nonsensical manner. If you deny that, well...well I'll say you're in the deep minority, at least. The initial goal was just to call attention to this one particular individual. It kinda got derailed into a discussion of equality, but I'll happily discuss that as well.

They wanted to target a specific part of the population, and they did. I can understand them wanting to split things, it's not uncommon for women to be drowned out and ignored otherwise. It's not right. So the argument is that they are drowned out, rather than intimidated. If that's true, all they'd need to do is be sure to split the discussions between male and female audiences. Make sure everyone is heard right from the get-go. There's no need for this "All female at first, then everyone later" mentality. At best, it's inefficient. At worst, your company looks bad. And yeah, no one would care who his name is if they didn't know he worked for Riot. But if he posted those same things as a response on Reddit or whatever, he'd get downvoted to oblivion and then forgotten about. This is different, though. Not only is his job title labeled for all to see, he's showing a blatant lack of professionalism for someone representing a multi-billion dollar company, *and* directly insulting the vast majority of the game's players. The only thing he could've done worse is threatening them if they even try to show up at that PAX panel before 2:30. This isn't harmless banter or sarcasm, this is outright aggression. And as Riot always says themselves... "It doesn't matter what others said to you, you are the one responsible for your own actions" I don't think Rioters themselves should have *any* extra leeway with this rule.

: I'm sure this won't go over well at all, but why is "toxic" such a new thing haven't you kids ever heard of sticks and stones i mean it's so juvenile to worry and actually care about something said in a video game, ignore it or /mute if you must , but my opinion is to just play the game good chance you won't see that player again at least for some time. Also it would be nice to stop using the word "toxic" in relation to everything that can possibly be deemed mean this isn't middle school it's a video game and at that it not going to hurt you, hate me argue with me that's fine I'm 30 years old have piss poor grammar and grew up with "bully's" and what my parents called it was character build. Enjoy your day and have a future of entertaining games.
You know it's funny, I was out in public the other day, just telling everyone what idiots they were, how badly they were dressed, laughing at a dude who stumbled on a curb, and dropping as many racial slurs as possible. People seemed to get really upset about it, even though I tried to explain that this isn't middle school and we shouldn't handle everything with kid gloves. I guess everyone's just too sensitive these days - when I was a kid that kind of stuff was totally normal!

: Lmao wow so you're basically a censor. Hey have you guys ever thought of bringing the game to n Korea? I hear they love censorship
Riot games is not the government - and a private entity deciding what kinds of speech they'll permit on their own platform isn't censorship. The day edgelord kids decided to substitute libertarian memes for having a single original or critical thought is the day civilization died.
