: Should I go into ranked?

My problem is that I don't want to go into ranked totally unprepared. What should I work on to make sure I'm ready for competitive play? (I'm a support main) It's better to over-prepare than to under prepare because once you get stuck in bronze or silver you will have to dig yourself out. But the problem is that no one tries hard in normal matches the way they do in ranked matches, so playing ranked games is the only way you can practice ranked. But what you can do is practice a champ in norms until out-playing someone with that champ becomes easy, then you're ready for having a 50/50 chance of winning your lane in ranked. How to get ahead: Don't waste time harassing anyone. Don't play a champion you have no experience with in ranked. It's better to play a champion in an awkward lane that you're level 7 with than to play the perfect champion for that lane but only for the first time. Don't ban champions that you only personally have trouble with until you can carry with a champ you're level 7 with, but rather ones that are op and will screw up your entire team. If you face a bad matchup, just sit near the tower. You will get pushed and lose some farm, but it's better than dying. If you can't tower farm, practice by noticing that ranged minions are killed by auto-towerhit-auto and melee minions are killed by towerhit-towerhit-auto. Practice your secondary role and support occasionally in your free time, just in case you get stuck in a role that isn't your first choice. Use wards. Lots of wards. If a tank gets fed, itemize to get tank-killing items. If you're a jungler, get the assassin fed. If you gank and get a kill, don't tax lanes. If you lose the gank, don't tax anyone either. If an assassin/fighter get's fed, don't go into the fog of war, at least not alone, especially late game. Come mid game, rotate to towers that are about to get seiged by individuals after you push your lane. If your opponents just won a team fight and are either fed or have 3 or more people pushing a tower at once, just let the tower die and back away until your team mates are up. If you manage to get ahead in your lane and your other lanes need help, go help them. You will still need to decide if it is worthwhile to chip away at the opponent tower or to gank them which will depend on when the opponent will make it back to you versus how quickly your losing lane will lose their tower. Call mia both in your lane and then an extra one in whoever's lane you think is about to be ganked If someone is getting ganked and is going to die well before you get to them, unless your fed, just keep pushing your own lane because it's a waste of time to do anything otherwise Don't split push late game unless your champion has an escape, you have wards and your have waveclear, or you have teleport. Most of the time team mates will want to force a 5v5 fight late game and they will crumble without that 5th person.
I didn't know the exact hits for the the minions so thank you for that! Also thanks for the advice on situations. I find myself dying to assassins quite commonly lately. I'll make sure to remember all of this.
: Braum and Brand are both ok pick, but in the end both are rather B Tier supports, Braum isn't good against anybody specifically, and while Brand does have a reliable stun all he really offers is damage but he's ridiculously squishy. Try supports like Janna, Sona, Karma, who can heal and shield or Zyra is you want to do crazy damage and still support. Soraka and Leona are totally freelo though, so just pick them if you want to rank up with little to no effort.
I'll try Soraka for now because I have enough IP to buy her. Thanks for the advice!

: First off, Congratulations! Secondly, no don't rush it. You will meet the more in depth toxic side of the in-game community who will flame you. Third, you should focus on gathering as much runes and a good champion pool. Fourth, focus on one champion to main/play and a back up in the role plus a secondary role so if you don't get your first role you can default into that one. Fifth, have fun! Mute all if they start smack talking or being negative. Sixth, have fun!
Thanks for the tips! I'll make sure to get a bigger champion pool.

Any other recommendations? I'll make sure to scout for a duo partner. I'll gladly duo with you if ya want. I main mid but I'm working on picking up some adcs currently.
Maybe in normals. I still wanna get a bit better before heading in. Thanks for the offer!
: I'm a support main to, and the last thing you want to do is rush right into ranked. First get, and I know this sounds like a lot but trust me, get mastery 7 on at least 3 different support champions. Next, find a duo partner, preferably an ADC, because ranking up as a solo queue support is literally the hardest thing to do in this game
So far I've been playing Bard and Braum. Any other recommendations? I'll make sure to scout for a duo partner.

: I don't play adc so I don't know much but don't be an ezreal who only hides behind walls and presses q.
: Most commonly, it looks something like this. AD Start: {{item:1055}} {{item:2003}} {{item:3340}} Build Path {{item:3070}} into {{item:3004}}{{item:3158}} {{item:3078}} {{item:3153}} {{item:3156}} and either {{item:3025}} or {{item:3072}} AP Start: {{item:1082}} {{item:2031}} {{item:3340}} Build Path {{item:3057}} into {{item:3100}}{{item:3020}} {{item:3089}} {{item:3135}} {{item:3146}} {{item:3285}} However, I do not actively play Ezreal. This is just what I commonly see both from friendly and enemy Ezreals.
Ok. Thanks for the build! I'll try this out sometime :)
: aww I was too late...

: Do you plan on letting them have ACTUAL project skins or like, daily suits or like, have you ever seen those people in the cartoons where they have armor made out of pots and pans and stuff they found lying around and its all kind of tied together? Like, say Rengar wears armor from Project champs he's "Killed" that he just kinda has tied on his body.
I was talking about actual project skins but that would be pretty funny.
: Tron Character?
It would be really cool if they did make a character who uses discs as their primary weapon.
Rioter Comments
: So, Project skins? Or like cardboard Project skins or what, because I like the idea if I think you think what I think you are thinking. I think.
Well just what do you think that I'm thinking. Thats correct grammar. I think...

: Why did you main your champ?
I main Teemo because he's Teemo. Duh... {{champion:17}}
Teémò (NA)
: Here's a few things I'd suggest First thing to do is disable auto attack as teemo. The last thing you want is to break your stealth and more importantly Not pushing the wave, because it so easy~ xD. 2nd you'll see three bushes these are like your bread and butter for your passive. use them level one for poking and last hitting generally. What this does is always gives you bonus attack speed making most top laners back away even if they are aggresive. 3rd You'll need to swap masteries for different champions. example: a nasus has a huge slow and it can really cripple a teemo if he gets ganked. "However" This slow gets negated by storm raiders surge. so if nasus even thinks he can invest in Q on you level 1 he's going to die level 1. On someone like Vlad though. You may want to take deathfire grasp or thunderlords to apply more damage. 4th just something fun you can do to people. You are the smallest champion in league, Because of this You can actually place a ward on you when they try to fight you. This sometimes makes champions like garen who would auto and silence you instead hit the ward.
Wow! Thanks for those tips!

: Dont forget to go around spamming laugh CTRL+ 4. Will distract enemy from CS.
: Get ignite and focus them lvl 1 with your attacks and E. If you are playing vs someone like Tryndamere, get Q lvl 1. Use the bush to remove minion aggro. When they are low, flash + ignite + Q + auto.
Thanks for the tips!
: 1. Place shrooms in your brush, this way if theyre chasing you, you can run through the middle brush (Exploding the first shroom, slowing him), then run through the bush closest to your tower and go into stealth. 2. Dont waste all your mana to harass, a lot of Teemo's will blind their enemy for poke early game. You will run out of mana a lot doing this. Not only will you run out of mana, but one their blind is gone, they may harass you, causing you to lose trades. 3. Know your match ups. Teemo gets ruined by tons of champs at level 6.
Ok! I'll remember those tips.

: You can check out lolking for guides on champions here is a link to guides on teemo. http://www.lolking.net/champions/teemo#guides
Cool! I'll check that out.
: Use him to counter pick melee champs. Poke often and blind them if they engage you. Other than that, split push often

: Save your IP until you hit level 20. Then start buying Tier 3 runes. You can use Tier 2 runes (because they cost 1 IP) until then but avoid buying expensive champions until you have solid rune pages.
: If a champion on free rotation looks even a bit interesting to you, try them out. Playing a lot of champions is a very good way to learn about both those champions and your own playstyle. Make sure you're playing those champions in more or less the right position, of course (Ranged AD bot, Support bot, Mage/Assassin mid, Honestly just do whatever the fuck for top/jungle you'll start to figure out pretty quickly what is and isn't suicide in those positions). Doing something silly like Sona jungle, as an extreme example, can ruin your first impression of a champion. Though, again, top and jungle don't have rules as easy to understand and mid and bot. Don't even touch jungle without a full rune page, unless you're using Warwick or Nunu (both of which are valuable gameplay experiences for a new player, but not really that great once you start to git gud). Also don't forget smite. Don't get discouraged by failures or flamers. I'm in plat and people still don't know what the fuck they're doing. Including myself. Play so long as you're enjoying yourself, and take a break when you're not. I don't have the sort of free time that lets me promise to play with you, but you have my best wishes with you out on the Rift! If mid lane's your game, I'm a bit more knowledgeable there than some others, so feel free to throw some more specific questions about mid lane and mages my way if you have them!
Thanks so much for the tips! I'll try mid out a bit and if I have any questions I'll ask you.
: play to have fun and not to win some good and easy champs to start with are Annie, Garen, Udyr, Teemo and Ashe you can check out what champions do in the shop, and I recommend testing them out in free rotation before you buy an expensive one you don't need tier 3 runes, they just help a bit early game but that's for tryhards ignore mean people (don't ask for reports, or leave a game it's reportable) and don't be mean back, just report them when the match is over ;P have fun
Thanks for the tips! I've been using Teemo a lot and he's really fun!
: New Player looking for tips and help.
I sent friend requests to both of you.
