: Everytime I see a discussion about lootboxes pop up, I find it mindboggling to understand why people still fall for them. It's not a League specific thing, it's a general thing. Why the hell spend money on lootboxes anyway? It's like people buying 10 different types of lottery tickets each month. Do those people enjoy throwing money down the drain? Why WHY would you do that? I have bought RP. Plenty of it too. But i'd rather spend it on something with which I KNOW what I'll be getting, than a "maybe it's good-but probably not" lootbox. And sure, you are pissed now. Just like people are pissed off about EA. But the numbers don't lie. Most people will still continue to buy lootboxes. And so developers will keep pushing those into their games. You can rabble all you want, but you will not get anywhere. Unless there is going to be a law specifically designed to forbid devs from putting this shit in, lootboxes will continue to thrive. And this little tantrum will repeat itself every few months, only the name of the game will be different. "Voting with your wallet" works, but only if enough people join in. Which they won't. So unless you take it to a higher level and get politics involved somehow, this whole topic and discussion is nothing more than a fart in space.
We all understand that the basis could be consider "stupid" by some. But see we are willing to take the chance because we like the game. We are not complaining about the RNG of the boxes but of the worth of skin shards and enchanting rates. Also ""Voting with your wallet" works, but only if enough people join in. " I have more faith in the community to stick through with this because I believe in people.

: PSA: Do NOT buy lootboxes with RP
I would just like to say that you are playing the gambling game. I honestly a bit scary that you are trying to make the Hex tech crafting system even more gambling dependent. " For example, it's now guaranteed that you'll never go three rolls in a row without getting a skin." Sure you get a skin, but enchanting that skin to be worth something is going to take a lot more skins especially if its a higher tier. Meaning that you will still need more skins, which means more boxes. This also was not something I think a lot of people complained about because that was just part of the gamble from the get go. "I don't mean to shock you, but we like selling chests." I respect the sass, but we all understand that you want to make a profit. That's why we are bringing this point to players, as to not to buy chest to cut into your profit to make a point. A point that, unless you guys are cash strapped , have a good explanation, the old system seemed a lot better than the new one for orange essences, seems because time will tell/ your response. Now I understand that you guys are do have upper managers and such and profits are expected to be made, but with your already expensive champion system, no I do not feel we get champions easier now especially with having to buy champ mastery too, and skins that you guys turn a good profit. I honestly think you guys will make more money if you switch back to the old system. "BUT, we could be wrong! If it turns out that these changes aren't as good as we thought, we'll continue to iterate. First we want to see how different players around the world are engaging with the chests and feeling about them before making changes." I respect that you can admit that you may be wrong as well as we the NA player base may also be wrong, but I will say I have a feeling getting people to back new system that cost them a lot more money will be very difficult. Thanks for Reading. Sorry if this is a repost can't find other comment @RiotCactopus
: Hey, I'll pop in here to share our perspective. We're actually keeping a pretty close eye on the value of purchasable hextech chests. I don't mean to shock you, but we like selling chests. So we want it to feel good when you buy them. FWIW, here’s our basic take on it: yes, orange essence disenchant rates are nerfed. But we also made some other positive changes to the system. For example, it's now guaranteed that you'll never go three rolls in a row without getting a skin. (That's what we mean when we talk about bad luck protection). You also can now get chests inside of your chests—and you can even get bonus chests when you reroll skin shards. We're pretty sure these changes will make buying chests feel good even at their current price point. BUT, we could be wrong! If it turns out that these changes aren't as good as we thought, we'll continue to iterate. First we want to see how different players around the world are engaging with the chests and feeling about them before making changes. Edit: In case you missed it, [here was the previous thread where I talked about more of our thinking behind the OE nerfs](https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/fRZopjhE-bring-back-the-old-value-of-orange-disenchant-riot?comment=0009).

: i got 2 ultimates 3 legendaries and 2 epic skins for 10 boxes
It's not about what you are getting it's about the worth. Look at those skins and the disenchant cost. Then look at the price to make them permanent.
: We believe differently, I feel. Agree to disagree? Loot boxes are a gamble and i have accepted that. I could go back to tobacco but I'd rather my extra cash go to Riot as "donations" because I know that every unit helps developement in the long run. But i see where you are coming from. Hey riot, I'll stick by you. Let's get ridiculed together until they see that in the long run you do care.
I just urge you buy Skins just not loot boxes the point is to show that, we want some idea of value in gambling. Good for you to stop smoking! :)
: Then what am I going to spend my RP on? Nope sorry, you're telling me not to give Riot my money, and it's my choice to do so. Not everyone feels that way. Me and particular, I just want to support the game. So riot take my money. I don't have the champions for the skins that I want to buy and I will earn those in time. For now, until they come out with a new Evelynn skin, I'm buying loot boxes. At least I can get skin shards that I might want to hold onto for when the time comes. Also, thanks for freeing up my name. It really meant a lot to me.
Just buy Skins that's fine just not loot boxes. The whole point is that loot boxes now are a ridiculous gamble with no hope with return of anywhere close to the funds.

: So much this. She wasn't a threat early in season 6. It wasn't until her rival champs got nerfed hard that she started to shine again. Even now my main, twitch, struggles against her when before S6 i would take her out easy nearly every game.
Ya but I don't want it so {{champion:67}} gets her ass kicked nearly every game by other adcs. I do think she is too strong but I can't ignore the fact that everyone wants her nerfed, but please if you don't have a suggestion for a balance don't recommend just a nerf also something that can even it out, because many people enjoy her and we don't want her to be{{champion:266}}.

: Do you know what assassin do? They eliminate high priority targets.
Sure and usually the target is some person in the back line. If it's a tank they should not be able to eliminate them instantly. The role of an assassin is to take out high damage, squishes.
: Why don't marksmen have some kind of real gating on their damage like assassins are getting?
Guys, Gals, please. Do you know what ADC stands for it stands for Attack Damage Carry. The whole point of an ADC is to carry the game which means their going to put out a lot of damage. If we reduce the damage the ADC can put out then they are useless. No one wants someone who is squishy and does no damage, and before you say well that what assassin are now with the damage changes. You are very, very ,very wrong for what makes assassin better than a ADC in situation is mobility. {{champion:202}} biggest damage probably of ADC but you not going to be jumping over walls like {{champion:91}} and smacking the squishes. Now sure some ADC do have more mobility but their damage is limited by other thing. {{champion:81}} does have a flash but most of his damage is on a skill shot that can be blocked by minions and {{champion:51}} relies on traps as well as her slow to deal damage. Oh and {{champion:236}} sure he dashes over the wall, but how does he get out. One of the benefits of {{champion:91}} {{champion:107}} {{champion:55}} {{champion:121}} {{champion:7}} is as assassins they get in and out instead of an ADC who gets in, but their pull out game will be too weak and they will get judge by their whole team for getting the enemy fed at 16... {{sticker:slayer-jinx-unamused}} sorry I had to, it was to perfect of a moment
