: Shurima Story Q&A #2
Given that the younger and stronger Brackern are buried near the top, would it be possible to see a new Brackern emerge to assist Skarner in his mission? Followup: Are all Brackern crystalline scorpions, or do they vary in form with other creatures that dig such as ants or cicadas?

: It's likely we'll be nerfing Taric in 6.9. Not sure what yet, still assessing exactly where/when he's too strong. So far though he's performing significantly stronger than he should however so we'll need to do something.

Not sure what yet, still assessing exactly where/when he's too strong. So far though he's performing significantly stronger than he should however so we'll need to do something. I think it might be a bit early to make that call, he's barely been out 48 hours
: Is Skarner Inherently Weaker?
Gaining his passive while ulting someone is mostly beneficial for the movement speed, as you mentioned, you can't AA while ulting anyway and his ult has always been that way. Yes it does make Lane Skarner officially not a thing, but they knew that when going in. It also puts him at a disadvantage when fighting over turrets or skirmishing in a lane. But he's phenomenal at neutral objective control because of it. So all in all it's not that he's gimped without his passive, but that he as a champion has inherent strong points and weak points, like every champion should. His strong points come from being able to clear his jungle without mana issues (HUGE to any old Skarner player), fantastic drag/baron control, and mobility when traveling the map to/from his next gank/camp. All of this at the cost of: Well, you have to actually manage your mana when in a lane teamfight?? Personally I call worth.
: can we get something to mitigate chain cc?

He'll likely be touched up when they do a class update that he fits in. Yes and no. When I mean buffs, I mean small buffs in certain directions towards certain playstyles, such as the present mid meta.
The present mid meta is mostly assassins... Kassadin is an anti-mage. Working as intended.

Definitely. He's no immobile mage, now that's for sure. His ult makes sure of that. But with his secondary role being a mage, and practically only viable in the Mid (unless you're off doing some wonky ass shit) I still felt the need to speak a few words.
You're missing the point. Yes, he is a mage. But this particular update was geared towards outdated immobile mages. Thus, not Kassadin. Also you can't say he's balanced in one post and then ask for buffs...that would make him intentionally unbalanced... if he's got a popularity issue that's not really a concern. : QoL Taric Improvement
It felt pretty clunky to me too when I was playing him last night. The E was fine because you can attack during the delay. But with Q and W it was pretty unbearable. I get that he was to stop moving to cast those two abilities, but I don't get why the cast times are an eternity and the auto attacks just do not flow from them at all.

He doesn't own the Shield of Valoran.
he should still have a shield, it doesn't need to be THE shield. He used to have a shield...
: Will there be a Classic Taric skin?
My only problem with new Taric is that he's the Shield of Valoran but...doesn't...have...a....shield??
: Certainly would work, but his damage continues to scale a bit awkwardly without the W armour shred or the guaranteed instant chain stun of his E. Wit's End has promise on him, but not many other ways to keep his damage relevant late :l
As long as it's relevant enough early and mid it doesn't need to be relevant late, he'll transition into an unkillable tank with great utility. It's the laning phase that worried me.
: The only issue with that is probably late game scaling... Still, I feel like he could lane and trade on his own quite healthily regardless :P
What about dropping the manamune and just playing tanky taric top. I think IBG would probably give him enough damage on its own. IBG, SV, Funfire, boots of choice, then like a Randuin's or Deadman's
: Currently trying a Manamune build, and it feels surprisingly good! Just to give flat numbers, at level 9 his passive does 60 base damage per auto attack without any bonus armour... And you can have that up nearly all the time if you have the mana :P He actually feels like a better, albeit less cheesy duelist now. Except for the increased difficulty to stun lock, he feels like he's doing much more damage and healing much more too :3
Really? Hmm. Stacking wouldn't be a problem I guess. Manamune, IBG, SV, Funfire Cape?
: He can use Bastion on himself yes, tried it on the PBE. Gonna try and experiment with some fighter builds soon too (Needs a LOT of mana, he chews through it). His heal also gets reduced by 3 seconds rather than 1 with every passive swing, so with 40% CDR that's pretty much always up if you're using his passive.
Thank you so much for the clarification, I was really worried it would be unbearable playing him top. Please let me know how the experiments work out!!
: >What is the internal cooldown (if any) of Taric's passive, 0 >can Taric use Bastion on himself (even if no allies are around) for the shield and the passive proc? Yes >Dazzle can't be strong enough in damage to replace that, or it becomes way too good with the stun added in. It'll probably be around the same damage as old Dazzle. The new dazzle does 40 +(10%armor) more damage than shatter does at max level. This is because it is a skillshot. Shatter was never good because it did a lot of damage (in fact, it's a very low-damage ability, with even the current dazzle outdamaging it at most ranges), but because of reliability. If Taric fails to work top, it will be because of the Q changes and because of his reliance on a skillshot, not because of any loss of damage from not having shatter.
This is FANTASTIC news. Thank jeebus, long live Taric top

: Support secondary role is a joke
This is why I put jungle primary, top secondary. At least then it's a 50/50 not a 5/95

: Would clearing Gromp/Frog or Red Buff first be better?
That's what I thought too, so starting Red or Blue would be nigh impossible yea?

Thought Red/Blue didn't spawn until later in S5?
