: Quick Gameplay Thoughts: June 14
Hey Meddler, what are your thought on the current state of the jungle, specifically XP? I know you guys wanted to decrease early presence from level 3 ganks and also prevent AFK farming being the most optimal strategy, but the outcome feels like farming your own jungle and efficient pathing just means nothing now. You can be 20 CS (5 whole camps, almost an entire full clear) up on the opposing jungler, but still a full level behind because soaking XP in a lane is so much better XP than actually farming your own XP. Similarly, it's basically impossible for junglers to keep up in XP with solo laners without just straight up farming solo lanes. I believe the current jungle situation is also a source of a lot of woes of other lanes. Nobody likes getting spam ganked all game, but it's still the best method because sitting in bush for a minute straight while the enemy jungler farms his entire jungle doesn't even put you behind in XP. And because junglers are 95% of the time behind in level from solo laners, any carry jungler will risk being turned on and one-combo'd by the enemy solo laner when ganking, so this turns a lot of jungle attention to bot lane, because they can actually 1v1 an ADC consistently since they're usually around the same level. But for an ADC or Support, this is still just more frustrating because you get so much attention from junglers just because you're the only person that won't be 2, sometimes 3, level up. I know balancing the jungle has proven to be a difficult challenge, but surely there's a happy medium between AFK farm being the best method and spam ganking 24/7 being the best method. At the very least, I would love for pathing outside of your first clear to have some meaning to it again. Right now the only time your pathing matters really hard is levels 1-3, primarily because Krugs lets you get to 3 earlier.

: Quick Gameplay Thoughts: February 22
Hey Meddler, if the champions mentioned (Tryndamere, Darius, and Master Yi) do end up being weaker, do you plan to possibly buff those champions a little to compensate. It might not be too bad now, but if Conqueror itself gets nerfed because a few champions are stronger with this new version, then it could be really troublesome for the champions who are already weaker with this new version. Also, since you mentioned updating Kai'Sa's recommended items, could you maybe do the same for Yi? Right now it says BotRK is core, but it's absolutely not necessary right now, especially compared to Rageblade, *which isn't on the recommended item list at all*. I know it doesn't really affect most Yi players, but his item set just seems really wonky. Maw is an offensive item instead of defensive, and Youmuu's is a recommended offensive item even though it's very mediocre on Yi. At the very least, I think Rageblade and Death's Dance should be added. Those are two of the strongest items on Yi right now, and they're nowhere on the recommended set. I know it's not really something that matters much (I know I personally only use recommended sets when it's faster to grab the item from there instead of from the whole shop), but it would be a nice QoL change.

: Quick Gameplay Thoughts: February 13
Any chance that position ranks could get removed (or at least opted out of)? I know a lot of people who play multiple roles at the same level of play, and it feels really grindy to have rank each role separately. I personally like to play top, mid, and jungle, and can play them all in Plat just fine. But now if I decide I want to play more than one role, I'm punished for it and would climb at about a third the rate. I always enjoyed playing ranked more than normal draft games since it was more competitive, but with the MMR being messed up and having to grind 3 ranks instead of 1, it feels really bad to play ranked this season. I know one of the main arguments is that autofill can't hurt your 'main' rank now, but I feel like ranked should reflect someone as an overall player, and if they can't play a certain role very well, then their rank should reflect that as an overall player they aren't quite as good. As of right now, I'm not even bothering playing ranked this season because of positional roles. I was going try to climb to diamond this season, but not being able to change up my role and still keep climbing feels like I'm being punished for not being a one trick.

: Quick Gameplay Thoughts: January 11
In 9.1 Kat got the cast time on her E pushed back to after the blink, letting her blink be instant to prevent cases where she got hit by an ability that otherwise would’ve been dodged with Shunpo, had there not be a cast time. Is it possible for Master Yi to get a similar change to his Q for the exact same reason? Right now it just feels random whether or not stuff hits you, and I see it happening with Yi way more than it did with Katarina (granted, I main Yi so I just see Yi more often). If removing the cast on Alpha is deemed too strong then it’d be reasonable to also give a small nerf to another part of Yi’s kit or to something like Alpha’s damage or mana cost. But the cast time feels terrible and only serves to punish Yi players who use Alpha to dodge abilities, which is one of the few skill expressions Yi has.

Hey Meddler, in patch 9.1 Kat’s E cast is becoming instant (well, the blink is instant, but the cast is now done after the blink instead of before), so Kat players who used Shunpo to dodge abilities couldn’t get punished by the cast time and still get hit. Is it possible we could get a similar thing for Master Yi’s Q? I know the community loves to hate Yi, but ever since Alpha got bugged in season 5, he’s had problems since the fix was to put a cast time in Alpha instead of keeping it instant. As it stands, getting hit by things during the cast time just feels terrible for the Yi player who otherwise would’ve dodged the ability, and it hurts one of the only skill expressions Yi has in his kit. The main problem I could see is that, unlike Katarina’s Shunpo, Alpha Strike lasts for a bit and isn’t just a single instant movement, so pushing the cast time to after the blink might not quite be the same. But I think a lot of Yi mains would agree that it’d be fair to give Yi a small nerf in exchange for removing the cast on Alpha, because it only serves to punish good Yi players and hitting Yi while he’s in Alpha involves no skill on the enemy’s part. Also, is it possible to remove the short period of time (small fraction of a second) that Yi can get hit before he actually leaves Alpha. It’s super frustrating when it happens and I’ve died plenty of times because of it, and it just makes me feel like the “I was in Alpha” bug was never even properly fixed.

It does when you consider that overall the play style of Tryndamere is go berserk on their top lane and crush anyone in your way with ult. The only thing that doesn't fit him thematically is running, but if he has his ultimate like he does in lore, it fits great.

: To be frank, it's more to the fault that their counterparts, the support, exists. And you can't solve that problem easily because there are literally too many players on Summoner's Rift for the map to properly support.

But support exists to serve an ADC usually, because they're so essential they need an entire role to guarantee safety. No other role needs a support because no other role is so strong that another player needs to protect them because how high priority they are. The only exception is Mordekaiser who needed protection from a ranged laning opponent and so he could W, and because he needs to be close to dragon.

If assassins get nerfed at the same time ADCs get buffed, it's going to be hell.
