: Tooltips Update
Personally I love the bottom for Ezreal. Easy to see ratios for AD/AP and clearly identify (I can't always remember the colors since some are armor and health), as well as being able to see future scaling. That's a big deal for me at least, I want to know how the abilities scale. If I have 5 seconds while running to lane with a champ I'm not familiar with, I want to know which skill I want to level up now so that it will be stronger later.
: Hey! Great question. In the past we saw some dodge rate issues with experiences that distract players from figuring out which champ they're going to play. Now that we're introducing emotes and editing them is a full screen experience, we wanted to go back and decide how to handle cosmetic choices more consistently. Since you already can't select your skin until you lock in your pick, we decided to carry over the same behavior to ward skins and emotes. This can feel kinda sucky if you're last pick, but we think it's an ok trade-off for now to make sure dodge rates stay healthy. Once we get emotes out, we'll probably experiment with re-enabling these in a region to see if everything stays fine.

Then if you are last pick you have until third to last pick to set these things up, but still disables/closes out of the menu if you are next-pick? Then 2 people before you is picking their champ, it tries to close your screen, asks if you want to save (if it isn't saved but can be saved) and when they are locked in the screen auto-closes. Set even a 5 second window guarantee to accept/decline the save. Just please make sure the save/decline option isn't on top of the lock in button.

Assuming they scale equal to each other, and I don't think they do. Also, items matter, does Yi have lifesteal, BoRK or armor penetration or lethality? And does Rammus have thornmail?
: Ah hell... I guess I'll jump in here because I'm a little confused by the post and I want to understand y'all's perspective better. One thing I'd like to understand is that it seems like this is a reaction to multiple changes: runes becoming free, the new leveling system, and a more general feeling that maybe Riot just doesn't show that we care enough about veteran players. You mentioned in the headline something about "30 chests," but we said we aren't going to do that because the new chests system is just a replacement for the IP you get after games now—you've already gotten the IP for all the games you've ever played, so there's no reward that veterans are missing out on as a direct result of the leveling system change. Does that make sense? You're also pitching this idea as being "in lieu" of the rune rewards we're doing, but I think that doing this idea instead of the rune rewards would be unfair to people who've spent the most on runes. The point of the runes rewards we're giving out isn't to "reward veterans" in a general sense; the point is to take care of people who spent IP on runes and give them a little back as a way of saying "thank you" for using a system that we're now changing. It's not even meant as a refund, because remember, we're just replacing the current system with a new and better one. Those things aside, **it seems to me that what you're really saying with this post is that Riot should do more to show that we care about veteran players. **If that's really what you're trying to get at, I'm with you. I'm not sure I agree that we should just haphazardly hand out skins to accounts just because they've played a game a couple of times per season (after all, that was never the deal when you made your account—you play games for fun and because you want to, not because we promised to give you skins for free). But I'm interested in hearing more about what y'all think we could do to better recognize veterans generally. Does it have to be just random piles of rewards, or is there some better ways we can give veterans to express their longstanding status? Sorry for the long post. I'm just genuinely interested in digging into some of these nuances with you guys.
I love how you're getting downvoted for this post. People don't seem to grasp the idea that runes don't need to be refunded. You bought the runes to get an in-game benefit. And you received that benefit, and have used that benefit. Why should you get that in-game benefit AND all of the IP spend refunded? People that bought runes just this season have had a single season to benefit from those runes, and are likely new players (who could use that IP more than people with every champ). New players have received very little benefit from the IP they have spent, because it's all just this year. My wife started this year and has spent IP on runes and is just starting to receive benefit from them, but has very few champions because the runes are expensive. I started last year and I got most of the runes I wanted then, and have used this years IP to buy champs. The IP I spent on runes has given me the benefit of playing better all season, so I've already 'used' them. The IP my wife spent on runes has barely benefited her, really only against other new players, so hers haven't really been 'used' and are more deserving of being refunded. I do think runes from all year being refunded is a bit much, but I am grateful for it for those that receive it. The remaining 10% or whatever that is refunded to everybody else is a bonus. You've 'used' your runes, and will be benefiting from the new mastery system, and on top of that you get IP/BE back. But I guess people just are feeling left out because they have played the game for years and don't have their participation trophies yet.

Does that value need to be completely returned to you? Someone that bought runes just this year has gotten very little benefit from those runes, while you've gotten years worth of benefit. You may have reached and MMR much higher solely to those runes (unless you admit they are totally useless), which means they have benefited you and that your money was well spent. They're taking the value I had from my runes and spreading it to everyone else, I'm fine with this. Then they refund 10% of what I originally paid for the runes, I'm not even remotely fine with this. Hell even half would have been fair at this point. But 10% hell no.
So you're only problem is being refunded 10% of it? You do realize if they refunded 50% or 100% of the cost for everybody then anybody with enough runes could afford all champions + a shit ton of skins from chests + whatever is for sale during the limited BE sale and that Riot would get a substantial hit to their income? Yea "small indie developer" bullshit, but without income the employees don't get paid and shit doesn't get made. There's a reason they want people to spend RP.

So you're saying that if a dealership was to take back cars that people bought 5 years ago for the same value they are worth today because they are upgrading everybody, you'd think this was fair? : I actually have no problems with the 3 mission chains that were purchasable - that was understandable and fine by me. What I _DID_ have a problem with was purchasable _daily missions_. The standard for daily missions has been set for years now, and that standard is that they're free, they give you currency at an incredibly slow pace, but eventually you can get a little something for your dedication. Locking them behind a paywall is a shit thing to do, because daily missions on a limited event means that the purchase will lose value every single day you don't buy it. It's a terrible business model, and I'm not sure why Riot did it.
The daily missions? You mean the win 1 game for 10 tickets? for 14 days that's 140 tickets, it's not like it gave a huge difference. Would be nice to have that free though, since there's a bunch of other rewards you get (4 legacy skins minimum if you get only the mega orbs + one baron icon)
: When a group pays enough for garbage we will continue to receive garbage like this. I can't understand the logic of paying for the opportunity to farm. Aside for playing an mmo. How much was the pass like 2k rp right? Could have simply bought a real nice skin. Guess the carrot on a stick gemstones appealed to people.
I bought the pass. 1.5k RP, or about $11. People pay $60 for a game with 50 hours of playtime, but somehow spending $11 for 10 hours is pathetic. Besides that, have you bought skins before? A lot of them cost 700+ with the best ones at 1300+. This is 1500RP, and it can give you 4 legacy skins (through mega orbs). I have 2 already from tickets, and once I finish the last of the missions I'll have enough tickets for 1 more mega orb and one mission gives a mega orb as reward. Oh, and 3 good orbs so far, so I can include 2 more champion shards + one ward shard and one icon. That's not a bad deal for 1.5k RP. Why pay to farm? I didn't. I played a bunch of URF and had small goals going at the same time. Some took longer than others, but I was going to play a ton of URF anyway, so why not pay $11 for a weeks worth of gaming that I was going to do anyway?

: Honoring more than one person
My idea was to have it like ARAM rerolls. You get 1 honor per game, and every x games you can use a second honor. This way it wouldn't be cheapened too much, and I think 1 in 5 or 6 games maybe would be fair for a second honor. No stacking or anything, just 5-6 games after the last time you honored 2 you can honor 2 again.

: I agree with the board. Although i do believe the system is unbalanced i believe that Rioters should work on balancing more than working on new skins. I think that if you nerf some champions {{champion:119}} {{champion:245}} {{champion:111}} {{champion:115}} {{champion:67}} {{champion:114}} {{champion:122}} {{champion:420}} {{champion:117}}
You do realize that the teams that work on new skins are totally separate from the teams that work on balancing right? They literally work at the same time on different things.

Well, since there's now the wall that Yorick has... he needs a real pool cleaner skin to go with the pool party set. I mean, the wall could be a pool, the spirits can be little slime monsters, the maiden of the mist can be a larger sludge monster with a bikini and hat, and Yorick himself can carry a pool skimmer instead of a shovel.

I just kept supporting his ass because it helped us get something.. ended up taking 4 towers by the time they got the second baron (queue "nami can't ward" when Ezreal is the closest to baron pit) and lost. I just wish I could let the ADC die a lot while still have a chance at winning.

: No you can't you will just get perma banned and have to make a new account like me. Just start making a new account now so your main doesn't get banned.
Yes, you are a piece of scum, thus everybody else is too. Great logic.
: Actually no. If the requirement is 20 champion,10 of them are banned and there are 9 other players. You should be left 1 champion you know to play. Aside from that(if I'm not mistaken) you should be able to choose the roles you wish.
So, in your scenario: 20 champion requirement would mean that you'd still have a champion to pick if the other 19 you own are all picked/banned? The comment you replied to was saying if there is a 16 champ requirement and 10 bans allowed, there is the small chance that you could get all 16 champions you own picked and/or banned and have nobody left to pick.

: If yasuo is too strong just nerf him, dont nerf the crit items cause of yasuo
If the biggest problem with Yasuo is the double crit chance... why can't it just scale with level? Like 50%/75%/100% bonus crit chance at 1/7/12? This way he wouldn't actually get that double crit until past level 12. Or make his bonus crit chance scale with an ability. The shield already gives a decent passive, the crit chance bonus can be added to his Q with 20% bonus crit chance per level (20%/40%/60%/80%/100% at 1/2/3/4/5) which would give him double crit at level 9. Or put it as a bonus for his R for 50%/75%/100% bonus crit chance at 1/2/3 dropping it back to level 16. Hell, even make it 50%/100%/150% to guarantee a max crit at level 16, even with only 66% base crit chance. This would cover the lower scaling early and allow late-game yasuo to dominate even without as many crit items.

: Fucking stupid idea when he has a 2 shot then reload mechanic. Pushback is there to offset his cooldown on autos
Not a Graves player and I don't jungle, but as a thought: Would it work to do the knockback on only one of the shots? Maybe doing it on only the first or second shot, or having a 'stack' that means the next hit within 1 second causes knockback (then removing the stack so it can be repeated) or that it causes a 'stack' that stops the next knockback. Essentially it would be a mechanic that would mean he would have the knockback still but would only be on every other shot.
: Riot disable Xerath right now.
Not sure on it... but it looks like the way to avoid it is to stay within vision of his team. The people getting hurt by it are out of vision when it happens. I haven't played against it, but if you see the video, bot lane has vision and isn't getting hit consistently, while the 3 running back to base or hiding away from the enemy are getting hit repeatedly. I'm guessing it's a problem related to that at least.
: aatrox doesnt want GA anymore because the GA happens before his passive revive and the GA revival eats his bloodwell time so you cant get the passive revive after. Death's dance would be interesting though
Really? GA triggers before his passive? Seems like reversing that would be an improvement for him, because unless his passive is on CD it shouldn't consider him as 'dead' yet for GA to trigger.
: This, or at least take into account the number and type of champions unlocked when matchmaking (since afaik most ARAM accounts only have a few champions unlocked).
This seems fair here. Include champion pool size as a factor when matchmaking AR games.
: to be fair automating it to that extent could lead to a lot a unjustified bans as well. for example if a guy was replying to a guy telling people to kys, say if he said somethin along the lines of "you shouldnt tell people to kys" then this would also trigger the automated ban because kys was present and the context wouldnt be taken into account
But it wouldn't be hard to say that any game where a player says "kys" is instantly redflagged and given priority. Glance at the chat and if it's used in such a way then it would be a quick ban. Make a system where the quick ban is tiered, so it'll automatically pick up the second/third/umteenth time they have been quick banned and it would require less than a minute to review. I'd consider that instant enough.
EVG Mike (NA)
: in what situations do you think it would be okay to tell someone to kill themselves?
: I'll be honest. Preplanned builds are bad. You need to understand the items and purchase accordingly to how the game is going. I used them when I started and it become a hindrance. Item sets are a good tool to learn items though or separate items for ease of purchase. Like when they reworked AP items last year; made a section with just them in it so I didn't miss or forget them. Like I'm constantly building liandry's on Ziggs to counter all the dive potential from all the melee and tanks in play atm. It's not an item you'll see recommended on him though. Into certain comps though, it destroys the enemies before they can even get engaged.
I get that you likely don't want the same items each game, but I can CERTAINLY tell you that I can analyze a build of "Well, if I was going against AP heavy I could buy these items... but if they have a lot of CC I could use these.... or if they are all AD I can buy this... Or if they have no armor I can..." and so on. I'm not saying pre-planning every build, just analyzing the options and figuring out what you might want. Takes a lot less time in the game to figure out what you want to build if you can figure out all possible options that you like before the game even begins.
: when i first played this game a while back thats what i thought the item sets were for... i didnt realize it actually effected the shop back then
I used it to analyze potential builds when I was starting. It makes things so much easier to be able to use a shop-like system to look through items and visualize what you want to build, how to order it and know exactly what each item does.

: Didnt get removed autofill protection and it just happened to me. **However, why is the queue timer reset?** I've just spent 5-6 mins of useless gametime and I like to get that reimbursed. Let remake victims get the queue time they had when joined.
Because of how the matchmaking system works. It's not like it can instantly place you back into a game like there are suddenly 9 other people near your MMR queued into the various roles you need to make 2 full teams. The process goes by starting closer to your MMR and as the time goes on it broadens the range to search through - meaning that longer waits = larger variety of MMR, shorter wait = less variety. Don't want the timer reset? Then you'll be matched into whatever group happens to be next, nearly regardless of MMR.
: We use more than just reddit and boards to talk to players. And we care _a lot_ more about communicating with players than looking professional.
Sorry to hijack the thread, but along the lines of communication: I've posted a few things here, but like Keevalroy said it just didn't get any traction. Some spurred some conversation but most just was downvoted quickly. I'm not saying I was right on any of it, but I feel like I didn't get the chance to really present something that was seen by Riot as was my intent. I get that there needs to be meaningful conversation for it so people can see more than a single aspect of it, but it feels very frustrating to get drown out by memes when I have a legitimate concern. Even on the "report a bug" it's hard to know if it's even been seen. Anyway, I just wanted to propose an idea for the boards here: Add a 'seen' or 'noticed' icon to threads that have been reviewed by a Rioter. Make it like a mouse-over thing (like the warning icon at the top for the game) that shows when it was seen, along with a note that a thread being 'seen' does not mean anything will happen with it, but just that it as been acknowledged by Riot staff. Something so we know that if we post a suggested update for a champion that we know that it was at least seen, and we don't need to constantly post it in hopes we can get a Red reply to tell us we are right/wrong/indifferent. It would also help with bugs so we know that it was seen, even if Riot needs time to figure it out and can't respond people know they aren't being ignored. Just something available to Riot staff to mark a thread as 'read' that can be updated if the thread is re-read. I think, if done right with the warning, that this would extend the reach of player communication without actually having to touch on every point posted, people can see that they are still being seen. Maybe even link to a thread that describes why things can be marked read without receiving a response. I'd love to know that at least my posts are being seen by someone.
: Like I said above, my response was to this: "It shouldn't load the config from last game, it should load the one I last used on the champ I picked.". I didn't respond to the original post. You should pay more attention to what is said and why it is said.
I've had times I was preoccupied discussing the game with my team that I forgot to check (Supp main, so masteries/runes don't change often) ended up going with something like Tristana with windspeaker's blessing. So it's 100% possible that someone was NOT AFK, and was even watching the client and still somehow managed to MAKE A MISTAKE that they are now punished for the entire game for.
: Wouldn't it be awesome if your main had a global ult?
Idea: URF like game mode where ranges increase by 50% with each ability level, so any level 5 skill would end up with 250% range, and all ultimates have global cast range. No idea what to do with abilities without a cast range at all.
: I mean if an ADC is by themselves in a lane against a 2v1, wouldn't the enemy jungler just come bot lane as well and dive 3v1 since everyone agrees towers are still shit? I mean the adc wouldn't exactly be able to lane as much as just sit as far back as possible trying to get experience.
Counter jungling and deep warding would show when this is approaching, which would allow for both supp and jg to get there and counter.
: I strongly dislike the state of dragons right now.
What if the Drake cycled through each one every minute? 180 seconds of not being in combat and it changes into another type. Something that shows a glowing dragon pit that increases over 5-10 seconds so we can see the change coming if we have sight of the pit, otherwise just updates the HUD with the new type. And like the jungle respawn timers it can show a timer only if you saw it change or leave combat. This would allow for the team to pick what drake they want, give some pressure to rush to the right one and give some balance to the drake. I get that it means easy stacks for the same type, but add something that drake deals 7.5% more damage and receives 7.5% less damage per stack of the same element. So first drake would have no change, but for your second mountain drake you would take 7.5% more damage and deal 7.5% less for your team, and a third drake would deal 15% more damage and take 15% less for your team, while the other team with no mountain drakes would receive no penalty (also makes it easier for a team without that drake to steal the kill). Any kill after the 3rd of one type of drake gives gold and exp but no buff. To make it more interesting I think it should start with a random drake, then randomly cycle through until all 4 have shown up before restarting the cycle, again randomly. So using numbers to represent the drakes it could be 1 > 3 > 4 > 2 > 3 > 1 > 2 > 4. Or if they really want to keep it random then make it a random cycle that will not pick the current or previous drake, but I like my idea more. This would make it somewhat random and somewhat predictable, knowing that if the first drake is an infernal and it changes then you can't get back to the infernal for a minimum of 9 minutes. Although it also means that a champion could run up and hit the drake to make it not change, so if you know that infernal is next (mountain, cloud and ocean drakes have already shown) and it would benefit the enemy more than your team you could delay the change to prevent the enemy from getting it. I think it would add a lot of fun and tactical planning while not really having to make changes to the drake's buffs.
: Honestly? Can we rework the Infernal drake?
Idea: Instead of a flat AD/AP buff, let's make Infernal drake buff similar to thunderlord's. Make each hit with AA or ability add 1 stack, and at 3 stacks, the next hit clears them and burn damage is dealt based on damage dealt.
: i mean tris can do it too.
No, Tris still gets hooked, because the jump is just fast airborne movement. Ezreal has a flash/dash ability that blinks him from one spot to another. Tris can jump away, but can't use her rocket jump to actually evade an incoming hook, it simply isn't fast enough. Ezreal's is instant so it's pretty easy to hit.
: Could anything be done about the current state of Turrets BEFORE you rework tanks?
Idea: Turrets used to have armor penetration, but it was lowered... what if the armor penetration was swapped out for armor reduction? Something that would stack, but drop off at a rate 50% slower than turret shots (allowing them to stack but not indefinitely). This would really discourage turret diving like that because it opens you up to not just the turret but to the enemy as well.

No, this isn't about ELO, it's about NEW ACCOUNTS. That has nothing to do with ELO. ELO matters Post level 30 really. OP's talking about level 5 and on. Can you seriously say ELO matters that much at level 5? OP's saying people leveling new accounts as smurfs or alternates because they have been banned repeatedly are making the game terrible for new players. Dealing with idiots that can ruin your chance of winning a game and not allowing you to climb is ELO hell. This is just a terrible environment for new and learning players.

: Not buying sightstone as support should be bannable. You are doing,(refusing to do something) that is causing your team to lose. But as far as smite on Nunu it doesn't make any sense as Nunu's Q does as much damage to jungle creeps, so failing to take a combat spell hurts your chance to win lane and team fights for not a lot of benefit. Heap on the fact that this only works if you leave your ADC alone 1v2, and the enemy team doesn't ward and collapse on the Nunu, which they ought to considering it will be obvious what he is doing. He is trading one win condition, getting your ADC ahead, for putting the enemy jungler behind. Some times it will work, but sometimes(maybe a majority of the time) it won't. When it doesn't work it is only natural for the other players to blame the guy to didn't play "normally". Think about how the ADC feels as his game is less fun because he is left in a 1v2. It boils down to this guy caring less about winning than just wanting to do what he wants to do, mostly at the cost of his team mates. ** It is selfish, plain and simple**. And he is going to have to decide whether he wants to continue to try to be a square peg in a round hole and anger team mates or play more in line with expected norms and not be reported.
55% winrate, 57% winrate as Nunu support. Consistently higher assists than kills (kills normally under 5), along with sightstone, redemption and support items. Hell he went 80% winrate in the last 10 ranked solo queue games at Dia3. Short losing streak before that, a win streak before that... sems like he's doing a decent job with it. But you're literally saying it should be bannable to go against what other people want. I get that it's a team game - but play whoever you want wherever you want - just do it successfully and you're fine.
: No, just give them the 75% armorpen back they had when they fired lasers... They also need some defensiv buffs too. I did the math and they are so god damn weak...
: I know this will be shouted down by all the hipster snowflakes, but if such a high percentage of your team mates didn't want to play with a "support" Nunu with smite, then the OP is in the wrong. At the end of the day it is a team game and if you can't work within the team, you shouldn't play. That means sometimes you don't get to play what you want, it means sometimes you got to play what is best for the team. If you aren't willing to do that, then stick to blind pick where you can do whatever you want.
So, it's really wrong for someone to bring smite and go support, even if they successfully fill the support role while also not interfering with there own jungler? What is the problem with bringing smite in any role, as long as that champion does not use it to steal jungle camps from their own team? I guess it makes sense then that if the support doesn't bring exhaust when the team wants it then it's bannable. Or not buying sightstone, or TP for top lane. I get it's a team game, but if the players are not violating any rules and are still communicating and playing well with their team then they are in fact playing a team game. Bringing smite and stealing allied jungle camps = bad, bringing smite and stealing enemy jungle camps across the map from your allied jungler = also bad?

: Your first mistake was switching to the new client. Ill stay away from the new client until Im forced to switch because just like what happened to you, it takes Riot forever to get something right and fix issues and then theyll blame it on you with zero compensation. Remember the fiasco of people being banned for "cheating" and then they realized after scores of complaints it was their fault.
I know, how dare the employees at Riot make mistakes. I expect perfection for my free game damnit!
