Lapis (OCE)
: It's a good thing that it's harder to 1v5, imo. It's a team game, one person alone shouldn't be able to win it. It should be a team effort.

: I just don't understand why assassins need stuns or utility to begin with. They already get the pleasure of dancing around fights and blowing people up. Why do they also need utility? It's a problem that's been massively blurred in League for a long time.

Honestly to me Akali's never been a pure Assassin. Maybe it's just me but I think being able to interrupt channels to save teammates kinda fulfills Riot's droning mantra of forcing League to be more team-oriented.

: Essentially everyone's argument against bringing it back was an instance where someone acted outside of the intended use. I was just wonder yesterday why they removed it. I played with some guys who were gracious throughout a loss, and one who even helped explain a champion to the new guy on our team. I really wanted to honor him but now the only option you have is reporting.... In my opinion I completely agree with original poster in regards to honor from the other team should mean more, and honestly the removal of honoring your enemy says more about how riot views it's own community.

The thing is the arguments always pertained to the fact that there were undeserved benefits for misuse of that implementation, aka possibly contributing to Hextech rewards or accolades for honoring an opponent that had no business receiving said honor. But if the benefits in such arguments were removed and it was just another way of saying "Hey good game, pal. I'd love to go up against you some other time" without attaching any other rewards other than conveying the player's opinions of a fellow player, I think it'd be perfectly fine.
Karfuss (EUW)
: For no reason at all. I've played a lot of games, I've played against a lot of players thinking "You know what? This guy is really really good, well played" and I've made a bunch of friends. Hell, some of the people I regularly play this game with and who keep me playing to this day, I first met on the opposing team. Back when ribbons were a thing, my first was honorable opponent, and that was one of the hardest to get. Yet for whatever contrived reason Riot pulled from their ass, I can't honor them. Forcing competitiveness by driving a 'hate those you play against' narrative, isn't healthy competition.

It gives us the only option of holding contempt for opponents who beat us.

Probably because punctuation goes a long way.
: people would honor enemies who fed. that was an issue iirc.

Then would it help if honoring opponents had no more impact on a player's profile than emotes? aka just for show, or just as a notification that "Hey this player thinks you're a swell foe" without giving any honor-related rewards? That way there'd be no point in abusing such flaws (unless they're really bored in which case they probably were already seated at the "annoying players" table to begin with). It's definitely more of an aesthetic thing but it also makes the game a little bit friendlier. With this game's increasing toxicity due to the troublesome issues of the Tribunal every little bit of decency helps (and that's stretching it a bit too much to associate this game with decency in the first place, I know).

The addition of a brand new Honor system was the thing that allowed that, not the removal of certain features.
: It’s not so much that it was removed as it was that they wanted to get the new system out ASAP and figured it wasn’t important enough to cause a delay and decided to just work it out later.

Usually "later" means several years to Riot so

If even an opponent thinks you're a good player and is willing to admit that, wouldn't you be getting _more_ Honor score instead? It's easier to point out who the MvP was on your team than it is to say "Damn you had me there, nice moves" to an opponent. Number of reasons. Biggest one is giving props to a guy on the other team who may not have been an overall nice player to his own team. I've played against my fair share of asshats that have been nice to my team, but refused to comply with anything with his team, the ones with the passive aggressive victim complex. "My team keeps getting into team fights when I dont want to and arent helping me when I 1v5, but you guys are great, love playing with you all" Like I said, I don't mind saying "kudos" to a guy you played against, but contribution towards his total honor score should be reserved for people hes actually played with.

Ah, that's actually a pretty compelling reason. I've probably done such asshattery myself a few times but only when the enemy team acknowledges that I got unlucky with some bad teammates. So I see why that wouldn't be reasonable. Still, maybe some alternative reward that circumvents undeservingly benefitting from such situations?
: I think honoring opponents is fine as long as it doesnt count to their total honor score
> [{quoted}](name=Quiet Dude,realm=NA,application-id=yrc23zHg,discussion-id=mHkwytnV,comment-id=0001,timestamp=2019-01-11T17:39:41.778+0000) > > I think honoring opponents is fine as long as it doesnt count to their total honor score See, that I don't get. It's easier to point out who the MvP was on your team than it is to say "Damn you had me there, nice moves" to an opponent. Edit: I think I misinterpreted that. I mean that you get positive rewards or accumulations of sorts from having an opponent honor you, not from honoring an opponent.

: Or maybe Riot can one day stop enforcing this one singular meta that's been plaguing League for years
As much as I hate having to adjust to a new meta I honestly think this weird meta can become the norm with a few changes. Mage midlaners/right-clickers become the norm for Junglers, Bruisers becoming ADCs, etc. It would elongate the lifespan of this game at least.
