This is correct. The ratio of shards to essence is going down with preseason so for any shards you want to disenchant, you should do that before preseason starts. Hi everyone! I agree we haven't spelled this out as clearly as we should have. We did cover this in the preseason FAQ. The TLDR is that ALL shard disenchant values are being changed from 33% of value to 20% of value. So if you have shards lying around that you're not intending to use, we recommend disenchanting them before preseason kicks off on November 8th to get the most possible essence out of them. More context below: **Are you making any changes to the way disenchanting shards works?** Since you'll be getting more shards thanks to the new leveling system (and with other recent changes to honor and events), we'll tune down the relative value of the essence you get from disenchanting shards of all types—champ shards, skin shards, and ward skin shards. In the current system, for example, disenchanting a champ shard will get you about a third of the BE you need to buy a champ at that shard's tier. In the new system it'll get you 20% of the way there. Also, with so many more champ shards in the system, we need to remove the ability to reroll them into permanent champs—but we’ll occasionally sell mystery champions for blue essence. For these reasons, you should go ahead and reroll or disenchant any shards you don't want to upgrade before preseason hits so you can get the most essence possible out of them. To make up for essence drop rate changes, we'll tune the way loot boxes work to increase the amount of skins you'll get from them. We'll also add "bad luck protection," so you won't ever go on long streaks without getting a skin shard or a gemstone from chests.

: *When will you allow players to see "all stats" from ranked games again, instead of only being able to see your top 5 most played in the ranked profile? *Its really nice to be able to see unique facts like how many penta kills a player has on a specific champion, as well as average k/d/a and much more, as that actually is a much more observable notion of a players skill(KDA) than the damage a player did in the course of 1 game. So if players are looking at building a ranked team they have something to scope and consider when choosing players. *This feature not existing on the new client as it did on the old one makes me prefer the old client, no matter how "pretty" the new client is. The new client does indeed look better, so thank you for that. But overall the old client was more user friendly, and I speak for a large portion of the community when I say, we as a player base feel like we lost a lot of features we prefer, for a bunch of over hyped less important features we don't care about. Like looking at a friends damage in game on a champion that they played 3 weeks ago on their match history.
We're doing some work on the profile page that should address the ability to see some of the "career stats" you mentioned. We're far from done with the new client, in fact, leaving the legacy client behind is allowing us to focus all our power into adding new features in the new client. Expect to see more updates on this soon.

Assuming this happens when you accept a match and try to get into champ select but only see a black screen, this issue should be fixed now. If this ever happens again, enabling Low Spec mode from the client settings (top right cog wheel) is a good workaround.

Currently no. The reason why we want to avoid killing the client by default is that it takes time to load it back up once the game ends, which could result in you being late to the end of game screen missing the chance to shit talk other players before they leave. So if you have a somewhat decent machine machine, having the client running in the background has no negative impact on your in-game experience and allows a fluid transition into end of game screen.

Our goal is to ensure the new client performs at least as well as the legacy client. This patch we're adding major improvements to performance on low-spec machines. Check it out, the difference should be noticeable.

Ouch. Are you using low-spec mode? This patch has some major improvements to client performance in low-spec machines which should mean you'll see a noticeable improvement in performance.

As it stands, it runs rather poorly, even on low spec mode and even cuts my fps in-game down to like 10, thanks to all the background processes. It even crashes on my friend's $1000 gaming rig. We intend do. Client update is not where we want it to be yet in terms of performance especially in low-spec. Expect to see major improvements in this area with tomorrow's patch. For example, enabling low-spec mode now will automatically kill the client upon entering the game to save that precious CPU load.

: I still use the legacy client but when I open it now it says there is a problem that I should re install the alpha client but when I looked online there is no way to download it so I tried downloading the beta and when I click on it all it shows is a video of the practice tool and some writing about it. Hi all, we've identified an issue that's causing issues with performance and stability on machines with an NVidia GPU and an integrated Intel GPU. : So I don't know if this issue comes from my end or of it's just a bug you all haven't had happen to you yet or ever will have happen to you but when I try to update to the new client I get an error saying please try reinstalling the alpha client (maybe if there was a patch force or a file reinstall option for the alpha this would help but I dunno) so I've reinstalled league like 3 times (but I read a few of these and noticed there is an option in settings so I don't have to reinstall now) if this is just an error on my end please let me know but if this is just a bug or something along those lines could I be informed?
This may happen if you're using an old installer. To be extra sure, I recommend doing a fresh install of the legacy client and then from the launcher window, click on "League client update - open beta" to upgrade your client. If you don't want to do a clean install what I suggest is that you clean out all directories with the name league_client in them in both the projects and solutions directories (`C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\projects`, `C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\solutions`). Then open user.cfg (`C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\system\user.cfg`) and make sure that its empty. If its not then you should delete everything and then press save. Once you've done both of those things you should launch `C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\lol.launcher` or lol.launcher.admin and should see the upgrade pop appear in the patcher.

If neither of these work, you may have an issue with your installation. Have you tried re-installing or uninstalling either the legacy client or the updated client recently? If your user.cfg is empty, it usually means you have not selected to upgrade your client. If that's the case you should be able to use the legacy client.

Currently you'll see all players as "Not Connected" when loading into a game you want to spectate. However despite showing "Not Connected" on the loading screen, the game you're trying to spectate is actually being loaded in the background and will jump into game when it's done loading.

: I don't understand why a major overhaul to the current client (legacy) is being changed almost entirely when it actually works and is visually pleasing....(if it's not broken don't fix it). Took me a bit to figure where things sat on the new client even finding the invite to a game or a new message coming in was a bit difficult for me because the old client made noise, visual Ques etc....alpha client is a bit hidden and too many tabs to go through.. All in all i know the new client is not yet ready but the old one is MUCH better from what I've been playing with and those around me have been playing with. No one really likes the feel let alone where things reside or work now...

Just as an update, I figured out what the cause of the problem - in the previous patch, the "disconnect" prompt was not appearing above the blackened screen in the previous patch. As a result, there was no way to click on it to get out of the apparent lockout. However, in the current version of the game, the disconnect prompt does appear visibly. So, although the disconnect problem is occurring, at least there is now a reliable way out of the situation.
Thx for the additional info. We had a hotfix last night that we believe fixes the disconnect issues from champ select -> game.

: Is the heightened issue of people being kicked in the transition from champ select to game being addressed? It happened to me twice in ten minutes, and in the first case it happened to multiple people. (I did submit a bug report in the client, I just wanted to see if there was any feedback here.)
We're looking into this. In the meantime, if you experience this click on CANCEL on the error message pop up and try to reconnect from inside the client.

: I have noticed that sometimes when you go into the shop, you cannot click on any of the tabs to chose what you are looking for (i.e., champions, skins, accessories, etc.) Also the addition of weekend game modes (i.e., ARURF, 1-4-All, Nexus Siege, Ascention, etc.). It is sometimes a pain to have to keep switching clients because of the benefits of each client. Instead of an account button to change summoner name and switch servers, it would be ascetically and functionally more convenient for it to be a main tab under store. Last thing. I see Riot is striving to give the summoner all the information from a game via replays and enhanced amount of stats straight from the match history than to go on a web browser. But it would be nice to see what the old client did which gave us stats on certain champions in ranked. I used to try to up my CS per game to look at my average or to see how much i have played then and how well i did with a single champion. With the new client, it only tells us games played and win ratio. Which in my case, doesn't do much. Sorry for the ramble. Those are things that I feel would help make the client better and more useful for everyone. By implementing some ideas from the old client to the new one! Hoped this helped out a bit! We have some updates to the shop planned for early next year that will make the shop smoother. We added support for rotating game modes to the updated client with 6.24. The first one that'll be available will be Snowdown. We've had conversations internally about "providing more career stats". This is something we'd eventually want to do but likely won't be coming until after beta.

Hey guys, apologies for the late response on this. We experienced a temporary connection issue that affected both the legacy and the updated client. The thing is that the updated client has better error messaging so errors / issues that are more cryptic in the legacy client may be super visible in the client update. This issue should now be resolved.

: {{item:3070}}{{item:3070}}{{item:3070}}Alpha client is way to laggy to be functional for people with slower laptops, I usually run league just fine at max settings on my lenovo y40, i7 5500u, 8gb ram, and AMD M275x dedicated GPU, which is by no means underpowered, but my laptop can't even run this client without huge 30 second lag spikes making champion select and pick and ban very frustrating, I got the 5 min low priority queue a few times because I lagged out and couldn't lock in a ban or pick. Now I haven't tested it, but I'm sure my $2500 desktop should run this no problem if riot decides to not fix the lag, however, not everyone has the same hardware as me and I prefer playing league on my laptop anyways. Riot, you will lose players if this goes on. One of the reason why league has so many players may be the fact that low end computers can run it, if you take away the low system requirements, people will leave your game. The old client may look dated, but it worked, and it did its job well, why don't you just refine how it looks instead of completely overhauling a functional client. You should overhaul things gradually so people have time to get used to changes, not instantly shove down something completely different, its frustrating for us to learn from scratch riot, why take the hard way when you don't have to. Performance is our number one priority and we want to make sure everyone who can run League can run the updated client smoothly. Some of these are: -We've patched up our audio and UI components to make the entire client run faster -We made champ select run more smoothly and fixed some issues affecting the champ grid UI -We’ve added audio and visual changes to champ select to make key decision moments more noticeable -We've improved responsiveness and stability for important transition moments like the jump from the play button to the lobby, the ready check pop-up, and the champ select load-in experience.

Yup, try the workaround #2 above. 2- If you're running into issues launching the updated client and thus cannot click on the "Launch Legacy Client". Follow these steps: * Go to your League of Legends install folder. Default is (C:\Riot Games\League of Legends) go to \RADS\system * Locate the user.cfg file and open with notepad * Change leagueClientOptIn = yes to leagueClientOptIn = no * Save and launch League of Legends again.
: The inability to resize the window has rendered my game unplayable with the new client.
You can resize the window with CTRL + UP and CTRL + DOWN keys. There are also preset sizes under options.
: The sound volume slider controls in the new client do not affect the sound volume, the sound is locked at what sounds like 100%, which is awfully loud on headphones, to where I cannot hear anything else or anyone talking on VoIP. I have to manually change the volume of the client using Windows Volume Mixer.
This should be fixed now! Give it a shot and let me know what you think.
