: Can I see the contracts? I don't know where they are. IEM is run by Intel. It has no affiliation with Riot, to the best of my knowledge. TDK would be in the playoffs if it was scripted. Because they aren't, I'm pretty sure it isn't scripted.

Because they aren't, I'm pretty sure it isn't scripted. The contracts can be found if you google search hard enough; one of the first links is an overview and analysis of the contract -- http://www.dailydot.com/esports/lcs-contract-analysis-league-of-legends-riot-games/ IEM is sponsored by intel (whether their staff or Riot's run's it I'm not 100% sure) and hosted on the "Tournament Realm" Riot's official LAN client that is only available to Official Riot LAN Tournaments such as LCS/LCK, Worlds, IEM, and a few others. > [{quoted}](name=Aametherar,realm=NA,application-id=9hBQwnEU,discussion-id=Nwkiw6Wg,comment-id=0002,timestamp=2015-07-25T17:36:41.679+0000) > > It means they don't want to confuse their viewers by having league teams play outside the league and stream games that players might think matter when they don't. On top of that they want their viewers to follow the league like a story line of how players perform etc. which off tournaments would detract from. > > Not only is it understandable but it makes a lot of sense to keep all events sanctioned. The phrasing is open to interpretation and that is how I initially took it a well, then I began to wonder... Also, we understand the time-line and tournament structure; we were applying to become an officially sanctioned tournament and requesting information on the process.
: I don't think it's scripted. If it was scripted, TDK would be in the playoffs. Also, I don't understand your question and how it relates to Riot's answer. Did you ask "Can I use the LAN client used in LCS?" and they answered "LCS teams can only play in Riot events."? I looked through the LCS ruleset, and I didn't even see this rule. Cloud9, TSM, Alliance (now Elements), Fnatic, UOL, and Gambit (and more I think) all competed at IEM tournaments last year as well. I am extremely confused by this entire post.

If you look at LCS player contracts they are required to get written permission to participate in any event that is not the LCS/LCK/Whatever-they-are-contracted-for IEM/Worlds are official Riot Tournaments run on the Tournament Realm; if you read the message it states the teams MAY play in those. Also, why would TDK not be in the playoffs if it was scripted? Having an underdog go far is great publicity stops stagnation; if they lose in the playoffs it's even better realistically.

: My tournament prize winnings were given to someone who didn't play in the tourney
Actually, the community doesn't get anything from Riot; Riot distrubutes the points directly to accounts based on results reported by the organizer. From my past experience Riot has required prizing to go to the summoners participating in the finals match of the tournament; any roster submitted other than this (if manually inspected by a rioter) may result in invalidation of prizing.

Each tournament in July (aside from our solo entry events) will have the first team given a free pass to enter the event. You can alternatively purchase entry for $5 edit: I misread the question. Our other events are all free entry

: || League Please Go LAN ||
Riot has publicly stated multiple times they have no intention of releasing a LAN client beyond the one they use for LCS style internal events (which is not a public client, simply used for large scale Riot events). There's a post on the boards about SCHOOLS wanting to have LEAGUE TOURNAMENTS and GROUPS but not being able to do it unless the software is run on the SCHOOL BOARD servers to keep with their policies (fairly standard across most of the US and Canada) and Riot has REFUSED to make this possible.

That way I could watch the game in fullscreen. You mean like the twitch app, but for spec client? That may be possible but not without a little reverse engineering or assistance from Riot :(
