: Inside the brilliant minds of the assassin nerf.
Assassins just don't make the game fun. Their damage is high enough to come close to 1 shotting you (by that i mean a full combo with ignite) but not quite unless they're a little ahead. Someone makes 1 mistake on your team... then it just becomes a rinse and repeat story. 2 death or 10 vs an assassin is pretty much the same. A mage is completely different (for most) which is why the boards seem "biased" in their favor. There's just more counter play. Doesn't matter if you're 100/0 orianna or 0/100, you miss your skill shots you do no damage. If you build damage and just play better vs a mage you can always comeback. A lot of assassins are pretty much point and click or so hard for them to miss their damage it might as well be point and click. Again deletion within 0.3 seconds (especially through exhaust) is never fun/interactive.
: A game mode where everyone gets to ban 2 champions.
yasuo and zed are only a problem if your teammates are bad. Meaning you were probably going to lose anyway, it's just the way that you lose feels a lot worse. 20 bans would mean not a lot of new players/accounts could play it, there'd be longer queue times again with no one wanting to play support, and competing with other more popular games modes... so it'd just get removed.

: QoL Karthus Buff
^ no there's no "predict" in programming. It's a very simple formula to determine whether or not someone will die to a karthus or any magic ult, converting their health to effective health. It could be done for Karthus but that would just make him too easy as an ULT bot, and probably make him worse for beginners. The time to ult if your jg is ganking botlane is when they've over extended and just before they see they jungler (they aren't in lethal range yet) your team/botlane get the kill gold so they WIN their lane (rather than you getting the gold) and you get assist gold staying ahead of your lane opponent although not winning the lane outright just from that.

If balanced is Ahri then every other apc is broken and need nerfs. Wrong, used competitively as a midlaner means that the champion is usually (but not always) 1. safe or lane dominant, 2. reliable 3. great in coordinated organized play which is why orianna is always used competitively, even if she`s balanced and far from broken. The only reason Ahri shows up in competitive is because of abnormally high performances in soloQ. Back when she had 53-54% winrate and 20% play rate. Ryze is of course a much stronger champion in the hands of an LCS player than the average one, but it`s the team wide teleport that allows you to pressure multiple objectives simultaneous which is why he was so popular. Azir, was an enemy team knockup and displacement etc. They are great if you are on voice com with people not so much for SoloQ. Ahri is perfectly balanced for SoloQ but she`s not as strong as certain picks for competitive because her intent is pretty clear and obvious - land a charm on a carry everyone know how to react - blow up said carry. Ryze requires communication and in that particular environment you can get a lot more out of him than just a pick. Ahri and other assassin type champions simply don`t show up in LCS games that often. The exceptions would be fizz, leblanc and zed and that`s mostly due to overperforming in certain areas for the typical assassin.
: Saving for a poke mage.
Velkoz. His damage is all skillshots so it`s a champ than you get a progressively higher winrate the better you become at him. He also has the ability to do true damage to an entire team which mages him really good come mid to late game. Xerath is good but too immobile (they all are but especially him). He`s fairly useless without peel or frontline and can`t kite while casting spells as easily as Velkoz can. Ziggs is good but his damage is less reliable than Velkoz. I`d say he`s an easier but slightly weaker version of Velkoz. Kogmaw and Varus.... just no lol. they`ll be blown up by any decent mid.

I can't say which ones... but i can say which ones are not... it's definitely not {{champion:30}} {{champion:69}} {{champion:13}} {{champion:61}} Azir, vladimir, and anivia are all kinda on the same lvl when played well late game. veigar could potentially delete any of them of them though.

: How am I suppose to build Azir late game?
get banshee or zhonyas then go full damage - liandry's, deathcap, void. With azir you have both your E and R for peel that's often enough. Don't suicide shuffle. Your thought process before the fight even starts should be "who's going to jump on me, and which ability/ sum to i use to avoid it," and be ready to react and burn whatever you need to when they come with in range. But ultimately you're not looking to survive a long ass fight. You may think "but i'm sustained DPS I want a long fight" No. You're looking to AoE BURST your opponents down and kill their team QUICKLY. Tank items are generally a terrible idea unless you're playing Azir top. You want as much high sustain damage as possible so that a Q and a few autos kills their adc and decides the fight. Many Azir players were rushing {{item:3285}} before because of it's burst and ability to 1 shot carries with two soldiers then Q AA AA TLD {{item:3285}} proc, some still do even though it doesn't "feel" nearly as good as the standard build it has proven effective. Ultimately the only real advice is just get better at not being caught out end game and build damage to end the fight quickly. I'd take banshee, QSS or cleanse over a tank items. All those do something about the CC, but with just 1 or two tank items if you get cc'ed late game you are almost certainly dead anyway, better to remove the cc than try to survive through the damage.

If the enemy has a twitch adc, Vladimir or veigar mid , they're going even early to mid game, they're probably going to win late anyway baring major misplays. They have that late game insurance, and Ornn is really just the icing on the cake. It's much different with a comp focused on smashing the early game they get ahead, they have the gold advantage and can keep on using it. There usually comes a point in the game where despite being ahead in gold an early game team will start to fall off. Ornn actually has a pretty strong impact here, a team that's ahead but suppose to fall off can actually stay ahead and increase their chance of closing out significantly. An entire team's major weakness - subpar late game- has just been covered for by 1 champ. Sounds like a pretty strong team comp I'd like to test out.

: Is the an e-SPORT? If so, then there should be clearly defineable SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE that players should have. Pick ANY sport right now, and you should be able to make teams of players within a reasonable bracket of ability to say the MAJORITY of games should be "fair". If I have 1 million basketball players, (for arguments sake, let's say they're equally distributed across all 5 basketball roles), I should be able to have 200,000 teams and find games that are "fair" between those teams. But that's not what we get. Instead we often get games that have a center that's equivalent of a college scholarship player, a 2guard and a small forward that were good in high school but ride the bench in college, a point guard that sometimes plays rec league, and a power forward that maybe played when he was 10 years old. The opposing team is approximately the same but distributed to different roles. A "good" game will have comparable skills at the same roles (maybe 10% of the time), the rest of your games depend on which team has the better disparity distribution. So, if my #1 player is against their #5, and my #2 is against their #1, then my team will almost certainly win as my #1 gets fed and stomps. Again, keep RANKINGS based on W/L, who cares? OK, LP = W/L just like now. Great. But take individual metrics: how well do you cs in lane. How much to do you ward, especially as support. How many jg camps do you take as jg? How long do your games last? ALL of these are MEASURABLE items. Now match like players with like players If I average 7 cs/min, 20 wards, 30 min games, 3 KDA, mostly honorable team in X role, then match me WITH and AGAINST like players. If this game has 100 million players and 90%+ of them are Bronze-Gold, then at low elo, that SHOULD NOT BE HARD.

An average is just a number. 7 is the average of some numbers... 10, 15, 5, 10 .... or 0, 20, 0, 20. It says nothing about VARIANCE. someone might get close to 10 cs per min some games or tilt off the face off the earth and get 4 the next and they'll still get the same average as you who may consistently get 6-8. all off these factors are also dependent on which roles you take, what champions you play. Someone who's mastered Orianna in silver will play like a gold or even plat player, someone who's just average at vladimir will play like a silver player and get rekted. The next game the orianna player decides to try out Viktor and doesn't have nearly as good a performance etc. Yes it is that hard. trying to make match making perfect would only mean really long queue times, to get more similar players together and even then you'd still have autofill problems (which is another huge problem in skill discrepancy. someone forced into a role they don't normally play even if they're decent on average)

: > Yeah you'll get bad, matches, some afkers etc and even though your influence on any given game is only about 10% (1 out of 10 players) averaged over hundreds of games through the law of averages you'll climb. This is basically the reason why I don't think the system will change. Making the changes you want leave it open to exploitation. You can't cheat the law of large numbers. Good players will always climb eventually that's just a fact. And again, I'm not saying I have an issue with CLIMBING. In my opinion, I am currently at my PROPER rank. My issue is getting a bunch of "bad games". Not BECAUSE I lose, but because of HOW I lose (or win). I would rather play the rest of my life in Bronze rank but have ALL my games feel like my contribution matters than be boosted up to Plat+ and know that I'm only there because 1 or more players carried me up. I think it's a GARBAGE system if I climb based on "winning" 55 out of 100 games, by 45 being carried and 10 where my own efforts pushed me up (and 45 losses because my team sucks). That would mean for every 10 games, I have ONE (1) "good game" where I truly get to play, and 9 "bad games" where it barely matters that I'm there at all.

I am afraid your idea of "true silver 5" vs "true silver 5" is a bit delusional to begin with for several reason. 1) It doesn't matter what system you put in place, the purpose of that system will be to determine your rank. If it KNEW your rank as a player the system wouldn't be needed in the first place, so it's silly to expect be be matched with "true silver 5" players , the best you can hope for is an approximation of whatever that is. 2) it's pretty important to understand that win/lose ratio is basically an average. If on average you're losing you drop in rating if on average you're winning you climb in rating. Replace win/lose ratio with literally any metric you want - cs, kda, towers taken, dragon taken, the average of wins/lose + the average of literally every metric in the game. .... it says absolutely nothing about the player themselves, which is basically where all the claims of "this person doesn't be long in my elo" come from. Some people play pretty consistently, win some lose some with about 55% ratio Some people go big or go home win some lose some with much higher variance but still get a 55% Ratio Some people are great players but they tilt easily so they lose more games than they should and do terrible on those they lose... 55% ratio. They may all be around the same rank because of this.. and some games will be an absolute stomp or get stomp cause of personality, not even mentioning champion pool, match ups etc. You're thinking of playing against another "true silver 5" player as having someone equivalent to your skills in lane which makes the game feel competitive not a stomp or get stomp clown fiesta. The reality is silver is the most common bracket with the largest variance in player base, so wild inconsistency is really what you should be expecting above everything else and you have it.
HeeroTX (NA)
: Again, I was just throwing out a brainstorming idea. I agree that objectives matter and obviously a LOT of thought and effort would need to be put into HOW to determine "individual contribution". But I'm saying it would be **TOTALLY WORTH IT**. I would VASTLY prefer to have ZERO new champs for a year, PLUS leaving in OP/broken champs if it meant at the end of that year we'd have a system that ensured after a month or two I'd get matched with 9 other players of COMPARABLE skill/ability/knowledge of this game. If we lose because the enemy wins one big teamfight, or they slowly whittle us down in better micro/rotations, or our communication sucks and we all go on tilt. ANY of those is "fine" and to be expected. I'm just sick of losing (and winning) games where my role is basically pointless because at LEAST one other lane (sometimes several) is a ridiculous mismatch. As a bot main, I hate seeing the 4-man dive at 15 mins because my mid went 0-6, and my jg is 0-0 and just farming while the enemy mid got fed up on our mid and the enemy jg stands at 5-1. After they take the top and mid towers, then I either die to the dive or use my vision to fall back "safely" and watch my tower fall and then enjoy the calls for surrender and "gg" chats since my other lanes have given up after being so thoroughly dominated. As for your example, if you WIN, you'll still get LP in my "pulled out my ass" brainstorm idea. And if you go 2/7 while split pushing WITH the win and yet have zero other metrics that show your impact, I question you being the "most impactful". 9 times out of 10, the 2/7 split-push leads to "teamwipe 5v4 then go clean up the split-pusher" or flat-out lose because 5 push faster than 1.
A system like that would simply lead to min maxing. Suppose you're getting dove by the enemy team and die. Your score as adc is 0/2 and the score of the support is 0/3. Your mid is 0/1 and both top and jungler are currently 0/0. Your top chooses to make plays, some work out some don't and for the most part they don't cause your team is overall behind and his score goes to 1/3. Your jungler doesn't partake in anything other than farm and occasionally KS so he gets a score of 2/0 at the end of it. He has high cs, a perfect kda, A for a score, gains LP. Toplane loses LP. The current system may not be perfect, but it definitely works and is not something you can just Min Max in game to gain LP the same you can currently Min Max in game to get an S grade (just think of people who say they're not going to do anything risky so they don't ruin their S). Yeah you'll get bad, matches, some afkers etc and even though your influence on any given game is only about 10% (1 out of 10 players) averaged over hundreds of games through the law of averages you'll climb. This is basically the reason why I don't think the system will change. Making the changes you want leave it open to exploitation. You can't cheat the law of large numbers. A Tyndamere or singed who's 2/7 or 2/8 split pushing botlane with , forcing2-3 members of the enemy team to come answer his splitpush, and allowing your team to get a free baron and objectives has probably made the most impactful decision winning you the game. The game is not about your score, your cs, etc (they[re all important yes but) it's all about getting the enemy nexus to explode.

I am just putting this "wild" idea out. It's ok if a champions is a "noob" champion that's really easy to play and doesn't require much (or any) mechanical skill, just and is almost entirely dependent on good decision making. The player base is made up of several different people, Some people care about being really good at high skill cap versatile champions {{champion:245}} Some people care about mastering versatile but consistent meta champions {{champion:61}} Some people don't care about how high skill cap the champion is, they want to play an easy champ they can quickly master and focus on the game itself (warding, ganking, csing, rotations, objective control) {{champion:1}} Now I'm not saying people who main those champs necessarily fall into those categories, but these type of people exists and think simple, almost brain dead champs should be around, for you autofill supports ({{champion:16}} or people who just play support occasionally but don't want to invest much time into the champion they would need to for champions like {{champion:412}} etc.

1) Azir is getting reworked, you can check out the Dev corner for the specifics in the direction he's be reworked 2) He's not nearly as weak as people think he is. Is he meta? No the meta is focus more on mid game power spikes and that's his weakest point. Is unplayable? Far from it. He is the strongest lategame midlaner in the game. Even veigar's ability to instantly delete someone from the enemy team late game can't compare to the reliable and consistent DPS Azir can do to an entire team. a buff to his midgame damage would instantly make him pick or ban.

But my point is 1) Her combos are slow and you have to wait for passive. She's not that strong until you're a REAL master of her. 2) An Orianna doing less damage doesn't matter if all LeBlanc extra damage is overkill with passive, but not enough to kill without. She's basically forced to wait unless she's ahead. I'd rather Orianna who's just right in damage and blows you up really quickly.

Gap closing, and flanking.... Fizz, Talon, kassadin come on.... killing an ADC is not an accomplishment in 2017. She's a strong pick in competitive atm, but pretty mediocre in all but the best hands as far as soloQ goes. And my point was a QW from Orianna deletes someone in a fraction of a second. I don't understand how anyone could find it satisfy playing a champ that takes so long to kill it's target aka LeBlanc.

That sounds complicated. QW orianna, if by chance they're still alive press R and kill the support next to them as a bonus.

: here are some nerfs that might actually balance champions instead of flat dmg and ratio nerfs
While i agree that balance should be about more than just damage buffs and nerfs, those changes all seem unnecessary. Other than Janna (and arguably sivir), none of those are particularly OP. Irelia is all about her ability to dash. Ahri would be terrible with that change; she'd have far less play making potential with 2 dash (which is what we like to see/appreciate in good ahris), but still be as safe as ever (which is what brings players the most frustration ahri using ult to just run away). Lux needs that passive for trading and waveclear otherwise she's kinda (more) crap. Garen is fine. When was the last time someone ban Garen over Darius anyway. (No love for Demacia)

You just activate your ult for 5-7 seconds and- wait, where'd the wave go? You want to avoid using your ult to clear the wave unless you're certain it's safe to do so, that's the awkward part. Your ult has a cooldown so it's a very real window of opportunity to just dive you if you've decided to use to it, for example clearing a wave that's crashing into your tower. If you press R while a riven is coming near your tower and you don't know where the enemy jungler is only to turn it off after you've cleared out some minions... chances are a flash stun and khazix dive is coming your way before the ult comes back up.
: It targets what it should, her fucking early game. It will maker her fine in SoloQ especially with other shit like Fizz, Xerath, Ekko getting buffed left and right. As far as competitive goes she will always be meta there because in perfectly coordinated team she reaches her full potential. But this game should not be balanced around competitive and if Lee can be kept broken in SoloQ to save his LC$ big plays then Ori can be perfectly banaced in SoloQ but always be meta in LCS no matter the Season and since she isn't gamebreaking there she will never get huge nerfs (thank god, who gives a fuck about competitive anyway any more ...)

IKR. The boards need to realize than someone's going to be top dog. I'd much rather it be Ori than some of the more cancerous champs in the game. Ori range isn't overbearing, her poke is anything great until she gets items, and her combo can be avoid with flash or even a dash. The only way assassins become meta in pro is if they're so strong in SoloQ they're almost guaranteed to snowball. ..... And we know how much fun it is playing in meta of assassins where botlane is basically just bigger minions that midlaners farming for extra gold and exp (even more so than currently)

But Viktor basically has a targeted oneshot (if you press E on them they can't dodge it, and same with R, while Q is targeted). That is, once you get enough AP to actually oneshot them.

That is, once you get enough AP to actually oneshot them. The damage and higher ratios are on the aftershock which is easy to avoid, the damage on his ult is over three ticks, if you have flash up you'll pretty much always survive his ult and get off which just 1 tick which isn't much damage. The combination of just the initial damage on his E and R + his Q damage won't 1 shot anyone other than an ADC if you don't get off the delayed damage which is easy to avoid as long as you have sums, dash, blink etc cause his cc is more for zoning and for comboing with cc rather than actually locking people down (unless they are really stupid)
: They said they wanted to do something for Viktor but they wanted to hit his waveclear as well. Which if you ask me is fucking ridiculous since so many mid laners (assasins included LB, Ekko etc) also have amazing waveclear. That's not a niche solely owned by Viktor yet they want to hit it???

That's not a niche solely owned by Viktor yet they want to hit it??? It's pretty stupid indeed. especially since his cooldown on E is relatively high without CDR, when you use it just to waveclear a lot of damage and threat is down for trading. I think a sufficient buff to the delay (make it shorter) and a small nerf to the damage of the second part of the E would make him pretty strong. He'd be a better soloQ champ requiring a lot less set up or assistance to get his full burst combo off (that competitive teams draft). And the waveclear would be down slightly with the second part of the E down in damage. a couple more autos to clear than currently.

a laning phase. You could make any champ sound broken just listing out their strengths only.

: What if Zhonya hourglass gets 5 more AP and its price raised by 100g?
I don't have a problem with the suggestion, I just don't think it would be an impactful one. The extra 5AP on your ratios isn't going to make or break any game really unless they live on like single digit health which is a rare occurrence in itself.

: Make Honor level progress visible?
There are millions of people playing league, not one person has posted about getting honor 3. Some people play all day everyday as their job (streamers) and still play more for fun, and they don't have it. It's a myth atm. It doesn't exist yet in the game. They'll probably do some data analysis based how honor is being awarded to determine the optimal rate at which you should progress or increase in honor given that it's an entirely new system. Not too quickly so you reach 5 honor and stop caring, not too slowly so you it's unattainable for anyone one but those without lives, and also in way that makes people who act more honorably overall get higher honor than those who just play a shit ton and happen to get more honor because of number of games played.
: QOL Karthus plans?
Karthus has always been a strong SoloQ champion. And every time there is some smart ass who goes but what about {{item:3155}} {{item:3102}} {{item:3001}} {{item:3157}} {{item:3107}} {{item:3190}} etc etc. You don't start off the game with those items, and you certainly as hell don't itemize against karthus ult early game. "what about {{champion:16}} {{champion:61}} {{champion:117}} {{champion:43}} {{champion:99}} ?" well yeah if you're first picking karthus and you get counter picked or pick him into a team with karma's AoE shields then you're just stupid and you're the reason Karthus' winrate is only slightly above 50% and not even higher. Karthus hits lvl 6, easiest cheese gank of your life. As long as your jungler starts a fight and someone bot lane goes under 210 or so health.. free kill. and for those saying "well just back off before that happens." 1) you're not going to see the gank coming and know you're going to be in range of karthus ult ... it's why it's a fucking gank 2) if you're constantly returning to base early in fear of the ult, well job done. you lose out in farm an exp anyway. Karthus hits lvl 11 if you're against karthus playing ap, your morellos is complete and you are not complete a banshee or zhonyas, no one goes for those items 2 (unless they must) because you do no damage. You need echo if you're burst to delete karthus in a rotation and not extend the fight (which is what he wants) and again... Botlane is still free kills with a 400 damage ult. But most importantly apart from snowballing other lanes while being able to constantly shove your own, neutralizing all pressure from the enemy mid, while applying pressure with the push of a button, your ult isn't even why you're scary. It's your defile damage. your E. That will shred teams to bits later on in the game and all those defensive items go on cooldown or get popped LONG before you actually use your ult in a normal teamfight.
