: Riot, since you clearly don't understand, let me tell you exactly what you're missing.
You say “we” but you really need to speak for yourself. Plenty of people are looking forward to the eternals system as a new way to display champion mastery. A free champion mastery already exists, and now if you’re want to show more, you can. If you don’t like them, don’t buy them. But don’t speak as if you represent the community because you do not.

As a Plat top lane main I’m not really sure what you’re upset about tbh. The role is diverse and many of the champs have naturally strong lanes as well as natural counters. It’s not currently at the top of the power ladder between the roles but that isn’t a bad thing. I’m not understanding what the root of these complains are?

Champion production is a completely different department from game balance, and even if you just abandoned champion development entirely and committed all those people to ALSO be a part of the game balance it still wouldn’t solve the problem. League is a really diverse game that is constantly being iterated on and “just reduce damage” isn’t going to solve the problem, it just creates new problems to solve. League will never reach a state of perfect balance because even if they hypothetically were able to get every champion to an exact 50% win rate, players would still find new synergies or combos or whatnot to give themselves an edge. Making changes to those champions or items creates a ripple effect that increases or decreases the power of other champions indirectly affected. If we just “decrease damage” across the board tanks suddenly become ridiculously overtuned because they are balanced around how damage currently functions in the game. To lower the power of tanks, champions and items would be nerfed while natural tank counters (many ADCs) would be buffed. That would make ADCs the dominate force on the rift, which would cause a rise in assassins. This is a cycle that has no end. The answer is NOT “just reduce damage” because that only creates more problems to solve. I personally feel that League’s balancing team is doing a great job keeping the game feeling fresh and interesting over the years I’ve been playing it. There are plenty of champions they struggle to tune, but when you have a roster of nearly 150 playable characters this is not at all surprising. Criticism is definitely important but we don’t need to be so volatile about it. Let the Riot team do their damn job and stop bitching when your preferred champion or role isn’t at the tippy top of your favorite YouTuber’s tier list.

Oh no, I don't mean the limited edition skins. Things like Silver Kayle, Young (previously Human) Ryze, the Victorious and Holiday themed skins are all limited edition and I understand why those remain limited edition. What I'm talked about are retired legacy skins. These are normal, everyday skins that didn't meet the modern quality of League art, so they were removed from general purchase in the store and only made available for occasional sale. Now that the retired legacy skins meet the modern quality for League art following a VGU, why aren't they available for standard purchase again?

Hello! I'm a Plat 5 Top Main, JG Secondary. I play mostly juggernauts or fighters in the top lane (Illaoi, Yorick, Urgot or Camille, Fiora, Irelia, throw in the occasional Swain/Akali) and JG secondary with my strongest pick by far being Evelynn (Secondary picks are Kayn/Kindred). I bring with me a positive attitude and an eagerness for constructive criticism. I'm flexible and happy to mold into any role or playstyle you guys need me in. I hope I can participate in your tryouts tonight! - im4smoore

: The alternative is action as in not buying anything for a while. That's gonna hurt them and make them finally respond. But we need a very large % of the playerbase to do it and I don't think that's ever gonna happen. Besides, your original comment has nearly equal up- and downvotes, meaning the playerbase hasn't even gotten to a consensus on this topic.
You guys act as if this is a question that hasn’t been answered. The League balance team, along with Meddler specifically, has mentioned on numerous times that they believe the games overall damage is too high and have been taking steps to address it. Some more or less successfully (i.e. Dark Harvest rework, Infinity Edge rework, Celerity rework, talks of Absolute Focus being too strong, etc) but regardless of success the team is taking steps to try and reduce the game’s overall damage output. In that same vein though, if you’re all inning a Zed as Syndra, it’s absoluteg going to be a who bursts who faster. In reality it’s going to be like versus any assassin or _burst_ mage. On a personal note, Meddler doesn’t have to respond to you. He started doing these posts as a courtesy, not an obligation. Don’t expect him to go out of his way like you are entitled to his time. TL;DR: Meddler isn’t your personal buddy in Riot Games, nor is he obligated to respond or even acknowledge you. The questions you’re asking are already being addressed or in discussion, but systematic changes like “the whole game’s damage is too high” is a lot more difficult to address than nerfing Irelia. Rather than whining about how Meddler doesn’t respond to your posts, instead research what change the Riot team is already doing to address your concerns and offer your _constructive feedback_ to improving them knowing that Meddler will probably read but not respond to your posts. Having such amazing designers, like Meddler, who share their internal workings with the community is a privilege, not a right. : You do realize that her Classic splash and VO is an act that she puts on? So it is apart of her character. Captain Fortune is when she is on her ship and dealing with serious business. People always underestimate the loud sex appeal and let things slip they shouldn't or don't take them seriously.
It’s not an underestimation of sex, by any means. As an example, I think the new design of Evelynn is fantastic! The level of sexuality with new Evelynn is a core feature of character that runs through her in game model, VOs, splash arts, and lore. She as a character uses sex as a weapon with a very specific purpose. Miss Fortune is very different. In-game model, VOs, and splash we get this (almost as nude as Evelynn) pirate girl, but in lore we have a tireless pirate queen that will stop at nothing to avenge her parents and take down Gangplank. Everyone in Bilgewater knows her name, so sex isn’t a blind force she can ~~lure ~~(edit: manipulate) people ~~in~~ with (because they, likely, already know who she is), in constrast to Evelynn whom is an unknown force of darkness who preys on people, only spoken of in tale. Evelynn can lure people to there death because they don’t know who she is or what she’s capable of. Miss Fortune is a pirate queen, one who fought for and (at one point) took control of Bilgewater by her own hand. There’s nothing wrong with her using her looks as part of her way to manipulate people, but I just don’t see that as being one of the core values of her character (like they are for Evelynn).
: I never understand these threads, I like both versions and would greatly hate it if they took any of them out, I would pref RIOT to look for a balance between both these forms than to be forced to choose
But they’re two different forms for one character with a singular identity (as opposed to Kayn, one character with two identities). It creates this split between who MF actually is, because the character she’s represented as isn’t the character you play in game.
Dzoni87 (EUNE)
: I, for one, am totally fine with how she appears in-game right now. There's nothing oversexualised about her appearance. Well... compared to some other champions, that is. And besides, it fits lore - wise. Anyway, the way Riot portraits her later is pretty much generic and boring. Especially that cinematic from couple of months ago. And if they EVER plan to do VU (hopefully not), i hope it wont be that way. EDIT: Erased brackets in order to make my point more clear.
You’re absolutely entitled to your opinion and I respect that, but she is indisputably one of the most hyper specialized characters in the game. I would actually say she’s the second most hyper sexualized female character in League, only taking a backseat to Evelynn. Everything from the way she walks to her voice lines to her in-game model to her splash art screams sex, which by the way isn’t inherently a bad thing, but to say that there isn’t anything sexual about her is very incorrect. Other female champions (aside from Evelynn) might also be scantily clad (which is an entirely separate discussion), but the theme of sex doesn’t carry through the rest of the character quite as much like it does with MF. I, personally, would just like to see her in-game character evolve more into the pirate queen we seen the lore.

If I might, what happened with the Immortal Journey Master Yi skin teaser? I've seen it mentioned several times as something that was poorly done and "we've learned a lot" from, but what exactly happened with that particular teaser that was so misleading?

: Hey, I looked into this for you and happy to say it's still on your account. I dug for some info and it looks like there's an issue with today's patch causing some players to not see their Essence Collector Ward. Interested teams are aware of the issue, but no ETA on a fix. Hang tight!
Thank you for responding! I'm having the same issue so I appreciate you letting us know it's being taken care of!
: First, I expect that the art shown for the skins to vote between is just concept art. I certainly hope that Riot will put more work into making them look a lot better. Second, I agree as they are they look very lackluster. Community concepts have been much better so far. Here's hoping Riot steps up their game.
Concept art is (by definition) just supposed to give you an idea as to the general theme and "look" of whatever it's presenting. The concept art for the SKT Skins (as shown in the Making of the SKT Skins official video) were all amazing! I saw those and was immediately blown away. These Illaoi skin concepts, for me personally, do not have nearly the same effect.
Kazekiba (NA)
: Just your opinion man, I love all of the skins except the presented lore behind the Battlecast one. There's like 5 robot skin lines, and PROJECT is all about rebellion. The Illaoi skin shows human flesh and says she's rebelling against Viktor, which goes against the entire theme of the skin line. It doesn't have PROJECT aesthetics, but it fits a PROJECT storyline as presented, and the giant robot arms are super cool. Adventurer, I feel falls too close to her base skin but it's otherwise really, really super cool. Chrome or even Pulsefire I think would be a better name. Can you tell which skin I voted for? Can you tell how much I love robots?
Yeah, the Program, PROJECT, and Battlecast skin lines don't seem to have well defined storyline identifiers. Visually, they're all very unique. You can visually see each of the individual styles in a heartbeat, but the stories definitely overlap. The whole vigilante fighting back against the mechanized overlord(s) just reads PROJECT to me. Particularly Program and Battlecast (aside from visual polish) I wouldn't be able to tell you why they're separate. (Although there is a loose gender discernment between the two, but I saw loose because they're robots)
GreenLore (EUW)
: I think these skins simply didn't fit your personal tastes. After all we have 2 space-themed skins and one that has more of an indiana jones feel to it,than classic fantasy or mythology. Especially the Battlecast skin actually struck me as looking pretty unique,I mean Illaoi ripped off the head of a battlecast-monster and uses it as a weapon?Thats actually pretty clever. Not to mention that Illaoi fits pretty well into the battlecast universe as someone who actually fights against the machines, since she is serving a life goddess,so having her face off against Creator Viktor, who wants to turn everyone into a machine, does make a lot of sense.
You do make some really good points on the Battlecast skin, and (correct me if I'm if I'm wrong) she would essentially be the first skin of her kind as well since the rest of the Battlecast line in full machinery it would be cool to have a vigilante of sorts fighting back. (Although it definitely does give me some PROJECT skin them vibes, just with different color palettes. Although there might be a key detail I'm missing in the respective story arcs, it does seem like both the skin lines embody the whole 'human turned weapon' vibe.
: It might be that the exposed thematics aren't in your cords. From your examples of what a cool concept is I can see you really like the epicness at the base of the concept (star consuming beings, holy warriors of the light and generally what the best of the best would look like). I didn't find either a concept that makes me want to really see it live but I opted for deep space because I think it is more in Illaoi's theme. I don't think that Void = space things. The Void is just a monster-industry complex with purple as main color palette.
I’d agree with your point on Void versus Space. Often times when you think of creatures from another dimension it’s with this assumption of space but it could just as easily come from somewhere/something else entirely.

: Simple, they wanted to put those skinlines on a hiatus while giving some love to other skinlines & creating new ones. That way, they can come back to the skinline with a much bigger event & the hype will be even stronger.
This is a fantastic point. Instead of the main event being PROJECT or Star Guardian every year, they can switch it up between themes so everybody can get love!
Rioter Comments
: Because they made it melee only? Lol
Well, yeah. That's kind of my point. Urgot has enough range to be considered ranged but it's pitiful in co,prison to actual ranged champions. He's also considered a juggernaut and is locked out of purchasing one of the only two juggernaut items because of his range which is a trade off for not having any kind of built in sustain. On a power budget, he's hypothetically in the same place as other juggernauts but can't access what (to many) is considered a core item of the class.
Sujiren (EUW)
: Hopefully next season is not botlane centered.
It's also worth noting that in the beginning of Season 7 after the Assassin Roster rework, there was a sentiment that ADCs/Marksmen in general were useless. Of course this wasn't totally true, but the squishy and low mobility champions found it difficult to have impact in a meta dominated by assassins that would constantly instantly kill them. So this definitely hasn't been a season long issue, although I will agree that crit-based marksman have really risen into power right now.

: NOW COMPLETE - [Q&A] Ask Ivern's Creators Anything!
I've really been enjoying how the newer champions have more utility-based, largely-game-impacting abilities within their kits (and namely ultimates) than older champions (i.e Taliyah Wall, Ekko Rewind, New Ryze Teleport, Kled Charge, Kindred Respite, even Ivern's Daisy knockup, etc). When you guys are designing new champions, are these kinds of utility-based abilities what you guys are striving to put in new champion's kits? Or is it more largely dependent on the thematic for the champions? More specifically, is there an underlying design philosophy for new champions to have more utility in their kits (ultimates specifically) rather than sheer damage/power?
: Illaoi changes pls dont
Something I'd be interested to know is what direction Riot is looking to take Illaoi. The previous change to her is was understandable and warranted so she wasn't quite so oppressive in lane. With this change though, it's difficult to identify the exact goal riot is trying to achieve. It seems like this would take away the majority of her team fight potential, considering she's so dependent on these heals to balance her low mobility, lack of crowd control, and cool downs. Thoughts?
