: Quick Gameplay Thoughts: July 28
Hey, can you guys please look at reverting/altering the changes made to the jungle during the preseason? I strongly feel a lot of the intelligence/precision required to jungle well was stripped from the game this season and, as a result, has made me very apathetic to play this game since. Many of my high elo jungle friends have quit to focus on other things because they too feel their effort is no longer rewarded. We can agree SotA removal was fine, but not heightening camp timers, removing jungle buffs, AND implementing catchup experience. This creates a dynamic, at least in solo queue, where outpathing and maneuvering the enemy jungler does very little to reward you individually as a player, thus having to rely on rolling a better team. For instance, killing the enemy jungler in their jungle twice and stealing their entire side of the jungle is now heavily negated due to the catchup experience mechanic, so carrying as a jungler really isn't feasible anymore. Experience deficits aren't a big aspect of outjungling like they were for all of history, and as a 3-season Challenger jungler, is really disheartening and is pushing me very close to quitting. Honestly we all feel really alone on this because the vast majority of the community didn't really know how to outjungle properly and thus don't realize what's changed. We're pretty desperate honestly and don't want to be permanently relegated to a support role. Top lane overpowered so teleport was nerfed. Mid lane OP so rylai's was hard nerfed and AP from blue buff removed. We firmly believe jungle was changed far too much fundamentally from before, and I honestly feel like I'm playing in season 1-2. Season 5 brought a lot of excellent jungle changes to expand user expertise, but Season 7 has really marked a strong depression for virtually every high elo jungler who doesn't spam elise/lee sin. Please make this role individualistic again.

The reason why he should have this is to reduce the reliability of his E-R combo while still allowing E and R to have the same individual power. This would give you just a little more time to get out of his R before it goes off, you could probably also extend the R channel to 1.25 seconds so you have the 0.5 second reaction to his E again.

: We're nerfing Devourer because we believe Devourer itself is a problem. It's intended to be a mid game power spike that at present is coming online too quickly and contributing a bit much before it's sated. As a result we're both making it a bit harder to stack and reducing its power when not sated. While Devourer itself hasn't been changed recently players have got significantly better at optimizing collection of stacks, those from Scuttle/Dragon/Rift Herald in particular. We did look at whether we should reduce the number of stacks those monsters granted. We felt strongly though that pulling Devourer junglers into more contested objectives was really valuable though, as a way to offset the low interaction PVE play that farming junglers engage in. Longer term I suspect we may end up making heavier modifications to Devourer too sometime this season. It does some cool things, but the play patterns it promotes and some of the power spikes it creates have been costly to the game at times. It's also an approach that can be extremely dominant in low level play without being functional at all in top tier play. As to the principle of least disruption, certainly, that's a great one to consider. Do need to be careful not to fall into the trap of addressing symptoms rather than causes though, sometimes bigger systemic changes are needed.

In this case though we felt Kindred was an unusual case, since they're generally strongest in a position many marksmen players won't play. Kalista was the marksman before that, and she's got a playstyle that can be pretty love it or hate it too. We felt there was a good case for another marksman in the spot after Illaoi as a result, feeling there were a significant number of players who hadn't had a marksman that worked for them since Jinx. As far as mages go we're with you though that, depending on what type of mage you like, it may have been a very long time since a new mage came out that fit your playstyle too (traditional caster types, rather than hybrids like Azir). We concluded getting a true caster mage into the lineup for 2016 was important as a result, and have one under development at the moment. Not appropriate to say anything about timeframe besides 'definitely this year' yet, working actively on filling the need for such a champ though.

: Q&A about Dynamic Queues and new Champ Select
i can't wait for the plethora of unskilled players flooding master/challenger because they have a strong social group of good players. the biggest slap in the face is the skewed sense of accomplishment. right now, either you earn it yourself or you don't earn it at all. "High MMR players will group together with their high MMR friends, and we'll get to watch some pretty crazy matches between players from different pro teams queuing together. This will be highly competitive and entertaining." so i'll be put at a ranking disadvantage if i want to play when i want to? it's going to be a competition of how well you can abstain from playing without your full premade. this doesn't reasonably work in any scenario. it'd be a better idea to introduce a separate queue for master+ players that entirely prohibits multi-queuing of any kind.

"As a player, I didn't have control of who I was playing with in a highly competitive environment resulting in misaligned competitive intentions" what do you think the point of solo queue is? your ranking is how well you can adapt to different situations, and how good you are mechanically and in your decision making. league is a game of consistency, plain and simple. the simple fact is that you will end up where you belong, every time. please stop sacrificing good gameplay so that you can make unskilled players feel better about themselves. solo queue is the entire game for most dedicated players. "Right now solo queue* standing is far more representative of personal mastery than teamwork" and this is a problem for what reason? if you feel the need to fix a game mode, do it to ranked 5s. no matter what you try to pull, how many experiences you ruin with this queue, you won't get teamwork in the average game, especially with no voice communication. it's all going to remain heavily influenced by snowballing and throwing, except this time rewards and ranking will be heavily skewed due to the variances you're allowed to use. it's wishful thinking, but it simply doesn't work.
