Hmm... your name checks out! I can't make promises on behalf of the skins team as a whole for what will or will not come out in the future but I know the team is constantly thinking about stuff like this (along with champion fit). I hunk the issue here is that the projectile sound is much more noisy than it used to be, which is de-emphasizing the actual impact. Can we either lower the volume of the in flight cleaver or raise the volume of the impact? Because the sound itself is fine, but it’s less satisfying, imo, because it’s not as stark of a contrast to a miss and a hit.

: I agree with this. As a Mundo player, hearing that Q sound is satisfying as all hell. I wouldn't keep it the same, but maybe finding a way to combine the old THUNK with the new infected aesthetic is the way to go on this one.

: Definitely think the current sound is better. The preview Cleaver-hit sound is much too higher pitched. The trademark "_thump_" is not something you should get rid of at all. It's like the most satisfying aspect of Mundo.

Hey Option Paralysis! Thanks for writing this. The original sound designer on this and I looked at this in-game and it does seem to match what was on the skins spotlights video. We're wondering if you were referencing this video of Skins Spotlight?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBM1eKJe51E&t There was a previous version of a Skins Spotlight video where it had base Olaf SFX playing before it was updated for SKT-unique sounds. Our other thought is that Skins Spotlight records these videos in an isolated area of the map where no other champion sounds are playing (also slightly zoomed in which is why the lightning looks bigger), so everything sounds bigger and more impactful. The SKT unique sounds are leveled to be around the same volume as base Olaf. Let me know if this isn't the issue you are referring to though! We're happy to look into it further if there's something we're missing on our end. Thanks!

Hey DerMangoJoghurt! I'll take a look at adjusting volume levels here - the audio levels between the these Lancer Q's and the base Blitz Q are actually pretty similar, but the base Blitz Q is definitely pretty high pitched and instantly recognizable, especially since that's such an iconic spell too. Looking through his kit, I'll make some volume tweaks to see if it'll help!

Heck yeah you were!!! :D This was actually a coincidence that it happened around the same patch as our sound engine update. I'm not the greatest with code/patching but I'll poke around to see if there's any info I can find for this! As for the sound card - could you navigate to the Advanced Settings of your sound card and see what the Default Format is set to (it should give a sample rate and bit depth, maybe something like 16 bit, 44100Hz)? I think that would live under Properties > Playback > Advanced tab, though I actually have not used Windows 7 or 8 so I'm not sure if it lives in the same place.

Hmm.. that's bizarre. What is your computer setup like? It sounds like this may be an audio overclocking issue, meaning sample rate of your PC and LoL are acting funky and incompatible. Do you have any special sound cards? What's your PC audio running back as?

Hey Nataleenie, Like KestrelGirl mentioned, there were some things that got wonky as we updated our sound engine, sorry about that. There are some ways the engine processes certain kinds of audio differently now, so we're adjusting things accordingly (but then finding out it affects other things along the way and having to adjust those as well). Nexus blowing up for sure was turned down - there were a couple layers of things happening that made that so super loud, but the fix should be on PBE now.

I rely a lot on hearing the sounds and it is screwing me up... I know it is also quit for the opponent, I've played a few games with friends and against them, they all say the same things "That q is too quiet" or "the ult went off? wtf?" and i personally agree with them. I would just turn up the in-game sounds, but compared to all the other sounds in league I feel like my ears would burst. but all in all, the volume of sound fx is the only problem i have with the skin.
Hey hey! Yeah, volume changes for Kat (to be louder on this skin) will be shipped out on 7.22 patch. That was my bad - we changed it right when things were switching from PBE -> Live so it's a little trickier when things are in progress. It is currently on PBE right now, if you have access!

: If I might have your ear for a moment? Would it be possible to do something about Maokai's Q and E SFX as well? When they hit one target, it's all fine and dandy. The problem comes up when the games plays the 'Hit" sound effect.... for every target hit. I can understand why it happens like this. Q is an ability that has a missile speed that goes through targets, so it plays the sound for each new one struck. E on the other hand, while the Sapling Toss and Sapling Chase sounds are fine, the problem arises when it explodes and applies it's effects to targets under the effect of the spell's Brush bonus. It sounds like (at least on my end) that the SFX is just increased in volume relative to the number of targets hit. When I play as Maokai, I can tell when the sounds will happen and can brace myself for the (heavily) increased volumes of Q and E - Brush Explosion. But I've found myself lowering the SFX volume of the whole game when I'm not the Maokai in the game, because I can't pay full attention to the exact moment when the SFX are trigger and I don't feel like having my ears destroyed by basic game actions. Q has a considerably short Missile Distance and a fast Missile Speed. Is it possible to remove all SFX for targets hit after the first, or reduce the relative volume? And if you find the time, checking the code for Maokai's bonus E effect to make sure it's not doing something screwy on the SFX side?

The only concern i have is that she still doesn't have any new SFX when she gets a reset (or at least i can't seem to hear them). I wouldn't mind the skin being delayed if it means her resets will receive the new SFX.
Hey Daunt, Yay, glad it's working better! Hmm, so she does have a passive reset sound, on this, base, and her other skins, but it can be tricky to hear sometimes. I'll chat with some folks on the audio team to get their thoughts, as it would affect more than just DS Kat.

Chatting with our release team, it may unfortunately not come out until next patch (7.22) to live but should be on PBE now. Hey Daunt, sorry about those! Those sounds you mentioned are still there for Kat and there will be a fix to the volumes (mainly R). I was getting a lot of complaints that it was too harsh/loud and overcorrected. Changes were made after the cutoff time for PBE transitioning, so I'll have to double check when it actually releases out to live servers.

Hi FacerollKatarina! Death Sworn Katarina actually does currently have voice effects! However, it was a bit difficult to hear, so I added some sound effect elements to it when she speaks. It didn't go out with the original PBE release, but should be on PBE now if you have access or wanna watch some PBE streams with her in it. :) Hope that addresses this!

Hello! So I know that YouTube compresses videos automatically for it to stream properly. I'm not 100% sure how much is lost in between the export and the upload, but it definitely exists. The Soundcloud upload doesn't need a video to be attached to it, so their conversions are much less and it's closer to the native export of the track. Hope that makes sense!
