: I want to improve as a Midlaner - How to Improve?
If you want to improve, I will always say, play the simplest champions you can. Champions like Annie and TF mid. You don't need amazing micro to play these champs but you do need good macro. If you want to learn roaming specifically then TF is a really good one to learn.
: Hi there! We did actually test a form of the gradated blue crit (and FWIW it did look pretty cool). Here's the reasoning behind why we're staying away from that: CRIT is a stat that increases your chances of dealing an extra big damage number with your auto-attacks. The reason why the crit icon is gradated is to show that the damage type is **physical**, but it is a subset of physical damage that is **affected by the crit stat** you see in the panel (this is where the reddish tint comes from). Technically, there is no equivalent stat for magical damage. Magical "crits" in-game are used to make certain skills more satisfying (LeBlanc popping Q, Anivia doing double damage, Ryze Q, etc.) And so what we really want to be able to do is have a _separate icon_ entirely (not crit icon!) for those skills that feel extra good when you proc a hit or meet the special conditions. We will explore making this feel visually satisfying at that point in time. For now, blue crit icon is the flat blue because it is not otherwise affected by any particular stat. TL;DR In the future we will be exploring how to represent special magical damage without abusing the crit icon and styling! Hope this helps explain!
Is that why Ryze has a flux explosion around his model when he procs a fluxed Q? That was added and I wasn't really sure why, is it for extra satisfaction?

Any update on the mentioned Ryze testing?

Can we expect any Ryze changes this year at all? He has risen back up in pro play and it looks like he’s going to need more nerfs.

: Ryze Rework
No rune prison tells me this isn't even Ryze.
: Sorry. The reason Ryze is 45% has nothing to do with strength, nor does win rate correlate with ANY metric that matters. Complex hard to learn champions ALL have low win rates. What matters is the delta from that win rate people who play the champs achieve. Champs like {{champion:142}} {{champion:238}} {{champion:157}} {{champion:18}} {{champion:76}} {{champion:20}} {{champion:55}} {{champion:201}} {{champion:268}} {{champion:13}} {{champion:60}} All have artificially low win rates because their kits are complex and harder to learn than other champions. Master them, and you generally can beat any nub in the game. You see more resistance in pro play to these champs, but when executed correctly, they become pro play core.
Ryze is different from Zed or Yasuo or whatever, not because his kit is weak. BUT instead because it is far stronger when played with a coordinated team. Like, for example Zoe she's strong in solo que and gets picked in pro play. She has nothing in her kit that directly gets stronger based on how good her team is. Ryze on the other hand, his W is a great early gank setup, his EEQ wave clear is really strong early game if he's given a blue by his jungler and of course his ultimate is the most obvious, in how it literally gives roam potential to champs who normally don't have roam potential. So don't give me that bullshit of "oh he's just a high skill cap champion like Yasuo or Katarina. Ryze is actually a weaker champion, is he bad? No, you can maintain a 60% win rate if you main him. But he certainly isn't as good as those champions are due to how team reliant he is.

Please take another look into Ryze
: okay, this looks just like double E + penetration, for me this is nothing new/unique in league. but actual ryze's R is really unique, totally uselles, you hold it all time and dont really use, but when there is a good moment - this R is really life-saving. and is unique and beauty. i like it more than your
Yeah I know the proposed ult nothing new or flashy, but it is functional and does its intended purpose of reliably giving him back line access. With his current ult I honestly agree with your statements, it is unique and definitely not useless since it can be used as an escape, catch etc. and I have won dozens of games using it. But... It is very abuseable by coordinated teams and, unlike most ults. in solo que it can actually cause more harm than good with inexperienced players.
: I think actual ryze R is one of best in the game, and your R is like Jinx / Ashe / Ezreal R but magic
Its not really long range, its like 750 units, similar to his other spells. Maybe I wasn't clear on that, sorry.
: It's a cool ultimate idea, and it makes Ryze fit in better with other, less mobile control mages. However, the major problem with this is that a new ultimate would not agree with Ryze's extensive lore (which often depicts him using his ult for better access to the World Runes, among other things). Because of this, I don't know how likely it is that Riot would agree to change Ryze's R.
I understand the importance of the lore and consistency, but I also believe that Ryze shouldn't be given an ultimate like that if it makes him a large issue in pro play. Maybe they could just write a short story that says, "btw he can make portals lol" and that would be enough to justify the cinematics.

Zoe is not balanced. Its not the one shot that pisses people off, its the "I win lane because I get free summoner spells and item actives" That makes her unbalanced

: Champions that need Visual updates, Legendary Skin or Ultimate skin
Out of the original 40 champions added to league only 18 of them have legendary skins, and some of them most notably {{champion:13}} , {{champion:26}} and {{champion:30}} don't even have an EPIC skin but instead have 5 - 10 mediocre skins that don't really change a lot.
: Ryze work on PBE
How come whenever Ryze gets a rework its always you Repertoir
: From now on, only nerf strong champs, don't buff weak ones.

You feel that the players that like these champions and want to play them, should be ignored so champions like Ahri, Lux, Ryze, Ezreal, Jinx, Jhin . . . . and the same champions . . . . . . can get special treatment every single year? You are a smart one. If a champion has a low win and play rate, that is the Developers problem.
I agree with most of what’s your saying, but I wouldn’t lump ryze in with the others mentioned. Ryze is different from the other mentioned champions because instead of being showered in skins and chromas and buffs he just gets beaten to shit. I understand how you say he gets special treatment because he’s constantly being changed but could you really consider only nerfs and reworks special treatment? All of these champions may be niche to say the least but at least they don’t get gutted every patch because they are Strong in the lowest percentage of the player base! Sorry if I went off the handle a bit, I just really like ryze and I hate him being lumped into groups with Ezreal and Ahri. In conclusion, yes sure ryze gets a lot of attention, but not because he’s popular or has a demanding fan base, but more along the lines of “riot ruined me and won’t fix me because they already tried and failed.” Moving back to the conversation I do agree with you, when I saw that Yasuo had a new skin for the oddessey event I groaned. He got a skin in the last versus event which was little over a year ago and didn’t need another one. Whereas my man zilean (ex zilean main, still play him though) hasn’t gotten a new skin since... like blood moon, years ago. I only really have experience with zilean but the way these I think these champs work is that with the right item buff or meta they can rise to dominance (except ivern, tree dudes weird) which I think is why they don’t get gameplay or visual updates. Also they don’t really have the strongest player bases which is an impact on riots urgency to update them. I do think that they need Vgus or something but I wouldn’t really list them As urgent. (Maybe a biased because I think that instead of pandering to fanbases they should instead fix current problems RIOT! Ahem, ahem ryze, irelia, zoe) But then again, what do I know since they just announced an ezreal Vgu. A champion with one of the highest play rates and fairly decent wins rates. Whatever, I’m done.

: Pyke itemization speculation
{{item:3147}} {{item:3142}} {{item:3401}} {{item:3117}} {{item:3814}} {{item:3033}} I feel this would be pretty standard itemization for him. But until we get the correct scaling on his HP to AD passive, I cannot say. If the HP to AD scaling is high on his passive you might go for something like {{item:3401}} {{item:3147}} {{item:3022}} {{item:3153}} {{item:3065}} {{item:3117}} This to me seems the most well rounded, with lifesteal, sustain, utility, burst, slows and mobility this build gives him 1500 bonus hp. If we convert that at 10 AD per 100 HP then its 150 AD which is a decent amount
