: Top lane is just Rock Paper Scissors.
This is kind of inevitable with melee champions. Power budget wise melee champions need to have a balance of engage potential (irelia,!riven, etc), and dueling power (juggernauts like Darius). Safe, tanky harass mages like ryze, Teemo, and vlad are also taken top lane, who beat the immobile juggernauts, who in turn beat the engagers who they can just beat to death, who in turn beat the mages who they can jump on. Tanks don’t fit within this structure well.
Reksee (NA)
: Yorguth- The Shadowmancer
I think people would just build him as a tank because he has high utility and not much damage and needs to get up close.

: Kench isn't broken in pro play or solo q. People's mindsets are broken, the refuse to improvise, adapt, and overcome. Theu'd rather whine, cry, and blame Riot instead of themselves...
I generally agree with this sentiment, but tahm top is clearly broken. His ability to stick to any target while also being a dueling god is rivalled by only that of Mordekaiser... who is also op right now
: irelia has lowest damage of all skirmishers wtf why
In top lane in general, there is a tradeoff between target access and dueling power. If you give a champion the dueling power of someone like Darius, Garen, or Nasus past ten minutes, you typically give them less mobility and cc to make it harder for them to force fights. Irelia has a stun, a slow, and 2, sometimes three dashes against enemy champions. She is not going to have super great dueling power
: I mean people do stop playing it? EUW used to have 5 million ranked players. Now it barely scratches the 2 million mark. NA server is basically dead compared to what it used to be. Only asia is holding league up. Which is pretty fuckin obvious looking at their events, skins and balance decisions.
Reksee (NA)
: Opinion: More Mobility does not make the game fun
Most of those champions haven't been released recently, and of them Zed is fairly balanced.

If their game is ACTUALLY bad, people shouldn't be playing it. People just have infinitely high standards. "THEY'RE TRASH! FIX THE GAME! IT SUCKS PLAYING THIS SHIT, AND I'M FUCKIN ADDICTED, SO I CAN'T QUIT!" -Tyler1 Yeah well, back in season 4 to maybe mid season 5, the game was a lot healthier with much less problems. The only shit designed champion at that time was pretty much Yasuo.
Seasons 4 and 5 had some of the worst metas in the game. Season 4 was the assassin meta with Kassadin, Khazix, and Lee Sin OP for much of the season. Season 5 was possibly the most unbalanced meta, with tanks going smite top just to get cinderhulk because it made all health scaling champions op as hell. Season 5 also had runeglaive ezreal mid, ahri mid op for the whole season, etc. etc.
: A fuckin cockroach can design better champions than those clueless idiots. When there is no Rioter with the balls to say "No that's a bad idea don't add it" (hint hint, morello) with no concern of breaking their feelings, then these champions wouldn't be much fair and simply be toxic. But apparently saying "no" to a designer is against the rules at riot games. Riot's golden rule: everybody is a sensitive wimp, so critics aren't allowed!
Riot is one of the most successful gaming companies in the world. If their game is ACTUALLY bad, people shouldn't be playing it. People just have infinitely high standards.

: Why isn't the design team being held responsible for this game's state?
Every meta has op champions. Every meta. Honestly I'd say with the exception of Yuumi (who I agree needs to get fixed) and Morde (who also I think is op but was JUST released and already got hotfixed), the current meta is fairly balanced - no one class of champions feels like it's dominating the game.
: So when is Riot going to stop punishing people for coming back to games?
: In all my years of frusteration and enduring aids in the top lane, NOTHING compares to Tahm Kench.
: y'know if (Ranked) teambuilder made a return, yasuo mains would never be seen in (Ranked) draft pick
: Rework idea for Diana
She needs to have a more unique idenitiy imo. Right now she is a very generic ap assassin
: Gnar's ult's AD scaling is absolutely pathetic
to put this in context, by adaptive compensation this is equivalent to a roughly 10% ap ratio. A "low" ap ratio is usually considered ~ 40%
: No, we don't want those things back. Which is why they're gone in the first place. Not being satisfied with how things are now doesn't mean do a server rollback, back to patch 3.4 we go! In a couple years if we're still around this same thread will happen and someone like you will add to that list, "Do people really miss guaranteed crit Stormrazor? Do people really want lethality back? Of course not!"
Do you think the game would be better if we just went back to any patch before season 9?
: I don't get it, you keep mixing lobby experience in w/ the actual game. The old Battlefront II on console had an insanely poor online experience, does actually being playable online make Battlefront II the better game? (bonus points because League took years to not have long periods of downtime at random intervals) Role selection was a great improvement, but that's separate from the game. Client's quality would be a joke even for a new developer's title that has a userbase of 400 unique players every day. You talk about how competitive games can't have a vast array of viable builds and need optimal build paths, Dota's the most competitive /hardcore AoS around and you have several build options and niche picks on virtually every champion. You praise new new champion designs when they're just overloading to the point where they make simpler designs obsolete. I mean, just look at Zoe's W, that one ability could pretty much be an entire champion's kit by itself. The whole previous season was just recent releases being broken, supposedly the pro scene is also dominated by recent champs and reworks. The whole 'skill expression' design meme also negatively impacts players by heavily limiting their champion pool and usually just means "How many mechanics can we fit into each ability? ALEX, GET THE BETTING POOL STARTED, WE'RE GOING IN!." Recent releases and reworks have been pushing "maybe 10 games to get them down" champion mastery curves to "oh yeah, 30 games before the learning lines stops being a cliff's face, let's go!" And you're complaining about Sylas being forced because he can steal ults? Sylas' ult is just Rubick's hamstrung.
This game is a click to move moba with 4 abilities. No champion is actually complicated

: There are some more direct rivalries than just Irelia VS Swain and Shen VS Zed left. {{champion:254}} VS {{champion:222}} {{champion:126}} VS {{champion:112}} {{champion:429}} VS {{champion:120}} {{champion:121}} VS {{champion:107}} Some examples, which are equally iconic IMO.
These are good rivalries, but some of them don't fit the theme well. Who would be order and who chaos between rengar and kha? Between jayce and Viktor?
: Swain is Irelia's direct Rival since their recent VGUs more so than Syndra is. She cut off his arm and he invaded and fdefiled her homeland leading to her families death. Besides{{champion:238}} and {{champion:98}} that's probably the most direct rivalry in league that hasn't been in a VS event
But who would be order and who would be chaos in the case of swain and irelia? I would classify swain as, on the balance, a good guy

: We need more Champions who wield dark powers for clearly good intentions
I would argue that kayn is; one of his quotes is "the true assassin kills one to save many"
: Runeterra has SIX different apocalypse events
Would xerath defeating the ascended destroy the world? Is this actually confirmed?

: but I mean... that's my point? someone who's played 100 games on Irelia vs a player who's played 1 will generally, on average, the 100 games one will play better
but the person who's played 1000 games will have the same mastery as someone who's played 100, even though the 1000 game person is probably better
: Mastery isn't supposed to show how good you are at a champion in relation to other players, it shows time spent playing a certain champion, which means familiarity, and a higher likelihood of proficiency. So yeah, you play the game long enough, you spend enough time with every champion, you deserve to have that mastery on every champion. The only place I think a reset is in order is with full VGUs, as many champs change quite significantly (Aatrox being a prime example), so that metric is no longer true.
But skill is relative; « good » at irelia just means better than the average player.

: What has happened to this game???
Not that much. There have always been metas, only big problem RN is the funnle strat. Aatrox rework is not great but riot can't get reworks right every time. Queue times are exactly the same, there haven't been many client issues, and toxicity has always been part of the game, imo it's getting better with honors

: Upvoted for effort. But the math wasn't set up correctly. // incorrect EV E(no_ff) != P(victory) (gain - loss) E(no_ff) != (.02) (20 - -20) E(no_ff) != .8 // correct EV E(no_ff) = P(victory) gain + P(defeat) loss E(no_ff) = (.02)(20) + (.98)(-20) E(no_ff) = -19.2 Also. The decision to forfeit is a question of whether 15 minutes is worth the relative cost of forfeit. Which is subjective since time and LP are different dimensions. // relative cost of forfeit E(ff) - E(no_ff) = (-20) - (-19.2) E(ff) - E(no_ff) = -.8
Karfuss (EUW)
: Meanwhale, I just never surrender. You lose 100% of the matches you forfeit. You don't lose 100% of the matches you play.
Let's put it this way: Let's say when you are down 21-3, you have a 2% chance of winning. If you gain 20 LP per win, and lose 20 LP per loss, that means the expected value of not surrendering is .02 times 40, or .8 LP. That is for an additional , let's say, 15 minutes of play. If an average match is 30 minutes and you gain/lose 20 LP, 15 minutes costs you 1/2 the expected value of winning a match. So, as long as the expected value of winning a match is over 1.6 LP, you should surrender. The expected value of winning a match is (winrate-.5) times 40. When we cruch the numbers, as long as your winrate is over 54% it is efficient to surrender that game from an LP perspective. So, you're wrong

: The problem with this champion is that it is too dependent on his allies. You would have to have your whole team focused on defending you and with the way solo queue is, you probably won't be that lucky. Then there is the issue of how if you do have that team, there have to constantly play around your abilities or you're pretty much worthless. When they do play around your abilities, then there would be little room for counterplay since you can use your w on a tank for incredible bull****, your ult to make your adc the definition of terrorism, and the vision control of TSM with your e. This champion would be similar to Azir, who is dependent on his soldiers and not having them means death. This is a good concept, don't get me wrong. But considering how the game is this champion would be a toxic pick since you either obey them or they get angry at you. A few tweaks would make this a potential champion one day.
if you use the W on the tank, the tank gets an incentive to damage the marked target (probably an ADC), making them less useful for peel. As for the allies point, there's really no way to make a champion like this without making them team reliant.
