There is a definite downside to Archangel's for Sona, and that's that it's very expensive for her. The build path isn't super either. Tear itself also doesn't give her any actual combat stats, so that's a downside of it, just as it is on champs like Ezreal. It's still worth it and necessary, but the downsides are there. Also I feel like they could boost the power Sona's spells give, while not breaking them when stacked on a 5 man, by giving Sona a more powerful buff from her own aura. I.e the empowered auto Sona's Q gives her is stronger than the one her adc will get. The Sheild her W gives herself will be stronger. Her E already does this to an extent, the speed boost lasts 3 seconds, but for Sona it lasts up to 7 if she doesn't take damage. This could give her some much-needed lane agency while also nit breaking her auras' power when the grouping starts.

Yuumi was whatever, honestly, but Sona got fucked pretty hard by the support item changes, to be honest. Loss of Mana regen and CDR on Frostfang in addition to the damage on Tribute hurt her. Plus one of her core items at this point (Archangel's) is very expensive so it's difficult with the overall gold nerfs. Sona really doesn't do a whole lot in lane, right now.

I'm not a Soraka main, I'm a Sona main, but I was just thinking this about Senna compared to my champion. Like, laning especially vs Senna feels godawful because she basically gets everything my champion has, but better. Higher attack range than me. It's difficult to do any real damage to her when her poke outranges my Power Chords. It's near impossible to come out on top of a trade with her like this. She also gets to heal her allies on top of being a poke champion. Anybody who has played any amount of Sona knows how pathetic her W is in the early game. Fuck her E even gives a speed boost just like Sona's does, only hers is a better speed boost, lasts longer, and comes with the bonus effect of camoflauge Senna E: 20% bonus MS for up to 6 seconds rank one. Sona E: 10% (+3% per 100 AP) bonus MS for 3 seconds rank one. Senna also gets hard CC pre-6 via her W, whereas Sona doesn't get any hard CC until her ult. Im not saying Senna does *literally everything all game better* than Sona does, but Senna basically does everything Sona can do, but better, in lane phase, while also getting to scale and be a damage and enchanter threat as she pleases like Sona gets to. Vs Soraka, she heals better but I poke better. Vs Brand, he pokes better but cant sustain his ADC at all. Senna gets to do both of these, while also being saf*er* than Sona is, and not being as squishy. It's extremely frustrating just from a design perspective.

Why wouldn't it? How can you say Sona isn't a prominent figure when she's a world-famous musician? Lux is her "biggest fan" and would clearly be very excited to meet her. Jhin is incredibly jealous of her despite him being based in Ionia and her in Demacia. Hell, some Demacians are even suspicious her music is magical. That last part would be the thing most likely to keep her from doing that, imo, but Sona is clearly a celebrity. People know who she is.

You have to realize, Sona's entire concept revolved around an outdated story that doesn't exist anymore: She exists as someone who can only be heard by those that summon her to the Rift. Which isn't actually a thing anymore because Summoners don't exist and the League of Legends is nothing more than a memory. I don't think that she'll ever reach relevancy again unless it's through a rework. But another way of seeing this is that she's like Vayne. Vayne isn't relevant at all save for her interaction with Evelynn. Remove Eve, you've got no Vayne. At least, I _think_ that Evelynn is Vayne's purpose. I could be wrong on that.
Sona has *very tiny* tidbits of character that just... aren't expanded upon in the slightest because Riot just seemingly refuses to give her any sort of new lore. We know that she's a world-famous musician, otherwise Jhin wouldn't hate her as he dies, and Ezreal's story I believe mentions he's been to a recital or a few. She also was in Ionia, helping Ryze ostensibly seek one of the World Runes. But we otherwise don't know the circumstsnces of their meeting beyond that, or what Sona's motives to help are. I'll just give an example of something they *could* have done: during the Demacia update, where, let's be real, they *should* have updated her, but didn't, they could have, say, depicted Sona as a figure for the mages in Demacia, "speaking" out for them to be treated as people, denouncing the way Demacia treats them... while also standing against Sylas and his brutal, fearmongering methods. It's just an idea came up with on the spot, but it's better than the literally nothing they've given her for years.

But tell me why she chose to enter the League, back then. Her stated motive from the old Bio was that it was the only stage befitting her talents and abilities. I also agree with you that she certainly didn't want to see Lestara die. That much was clear, Sona loves Lestara. The text also says that it's the *only* voice she loves more than music. Therefore anyone and everyone else is beneath. These two reasons are why i see Sona as a straight up, near-Draven level diva who wants center-stage for her performance. If that means she has to heal someone, she will. If it means that she has to put herself in danger to help allies, she will. If that means she has to chop aforementioned Draven to pieces, she will. If it means she has to out-psycho Jhin, she will. That said, I don't want Sona to carry two dozen skeletons in her closet. She doesn't have to be a musical version of Elizabeth Bathory either. But morally grey simply means they aren't perfect and have some level of issues to deal with. It doesn't have to be world shattering, mind blowing, teeth grinding issues. It can just be; "She has spent most of her life isolated from people beyond a very select few, and has trouble interacting with people as equals beyond what she can offer with her musical talents, having relied too strongly on her instrument in her life. She has come to view her performances as far more important." It checks most of the squares, if basic, and still opens the door to interesting storytelling, especially if we throw her into mid-crisis Demacia where many people will look up to and need a powerful mage to guide them, and where people may investigate or even hunt her. It means she's likely to make mistakes or bad choices she can grow from as a character.
See, I stull heavily disagree with your reasoning, or at least, definitely the second one. Yes, the text describes Lestara's voice as being the only sound she loves more than music... but, imagine how *high* a bar that must be? Sona, mute musician, Maven of the Strings... she probably *adores* the sound of music. I don't think that at all proves that she doesn't like people or thinks them as lesser, all that says is that she loves Lestara, probably more than anything. For that reaspn I think comparing her to Draven or Jhin is just, *wildly* innacurate. As for the first, you do bring up a good point, however... I still doubt Sona wanting to hurt others is her reason for joining. Back when it existed, the IoW, the League, the battles were all political, to prevent actual wars from breaking out, no? Way I see it, perhaps she did want to fight for her home, for Demacia, the same way that a soldier may fight not out of desire to bring harm to the enemy soldiers, but to fight, and protect his nation, his home. This is how I interpret Sona's reasoning

Especially since of the old enchanters, Taric, Soraka, Janna and Nami (and Yuumi) are all already confirmed undoubtedly good, and we have tidbits of old lore talking about Sona practicing hurting people just to be able to join the league. See, I take strong issue with this mention of "Oh old lore has stated how she learned to use her magic offensively, she wants to hurt people, she has a hidden dark violent side, etc etc" and I seriously think that people are misinterpreting it. "In secret, she discovered a potent and deadly use for her etwahl, using its vibrations to  slice objects from a distance. She honed this discipline in private, mastering her gift, that she might be prepared should a fitting recital require the harmony of her talents." To me, this states of learning to master her power, so that should a need ever arise, the need to use her power to protect those she loves, then she can, and will, fight. I.e, she doesn't *want* to hurt people, but she will if it means she must to protect those she loves. People also point to her League judgment, where her Etwahl kills her adoptive mother. I see people talk about it like "she killed her mother" and oyher such things as if Sona were secretly violent or bloodthirsty, which sounds comoletely luducrous to me. The Etwahl escapes her without her notice, stalking after Lestara. Sona realizes with terror what it's doing: she tries to call it back, it doesn't listen. She screams out in a voice that doesn't exist. She can only watch as it cuts Lestara down. To me, this points to a fear that Sona has (or had, considering its old lore, but its not like we have anything new) that either she may harm those she loves with her power, that the Etwahl has some sort of autonomy, and that she is scared she cannot always control it, or that Sona accidentally killed her mother in a tragic accident when she didn't fully have control over the etwahl or her powers, and it's something that haunts her. In the end of it all, we aren't asking Sona's lore to be happy, sunshines rainbows and gpody-goody two-shoes do-no-wrong waifus. We just don't want them to turn her into a morally gray character that only shares her name. TL;DR I see some people claim Sona is secretly violent or bloodthorsty based on old lore. I think they're harshly misunderstanding it.

Skinline lore is non-canon and does not apply at all to a champion's canon lore. Sona is in a state where she has next to zero lore, alongside characters like Talon. Her fans are understandably frustrated that Riot has deliberately avoided giving her any information for years, despite having every chance among two Demacia updates.

That's presumably not canon though, that's simply a desire of Jhin, since Vi, Zed, and Garen are all fine in the current lore. Sure, Sona has some very minor tidbits in interactions with other champs: {{champion:99}} : Sona! I'm your biggest fan! {{champion:202}} : Your work will be forgotten. I am ahead of my time! {{champion:517}} : Let me speak for you, Sona But none of these really amount to anything for Sona herself. The most relevant interaction is Jhin's. He doesn't like her, he's jealous because people like her music and not his "art". Even then this takes a backseat to Jhin's actual story. But none of these bring any actual character to Sona herself

Great, fantastic. I get 950 free gold on an item that A. Doesnt give me the stats I want (mana regen, CDR) and gives me a paptry amount of stats I don't really care about And B. Takes away the one income I have Great. Lovely. What a buff. Seriously, not sure if you realized but next to no supports, especially not Sonas, built EotW because the item fucking suuuucked. It was way better to spend that 900g on a Codex. Gives better stats you actually want, and builds into Athene's, basiclaly a core item. Or alternatively Tear, Aether Wisp, Forbidden Idol... all of which are better for you and build into your items

Relic shield you'd be hard-pressed to ever earn over 2000. You get more for less and you still complain? What does buying the boots you would have anyway hurt the +2400 gold?
I mean, the free 1400g from not having to upgrade the supp item is more like a free 450g for stuff like enchanters. Can easily speak for Sona players on this one, nobody spent the 950g on upgrading to Remnant of the Watchers, because of the stats you get from the upgrade (15AP, 200 HP, and an extra ward.) The ward and HP are nice, but 200HP with no resists isn't going to help much, a caught Sona is a caught Sona. Honestly with that 950 gold you were better off just buying a Fiendish Codex, since you get 35AP, an additional 10 CDR, and 900g toward your Athene's, which is a very important item for Sona, and gives her so much of what she wants. Heck, there's plenty of other items Sona would rather spend 900g on, rather than a Tier 3 support item {{item:3113}} {{item:3028}} {{item:3114}} {{item:3070}} as they all either give Sona more of the stats that she wants and needs, and/or build into fantastic items for her. Not having to slend that first 450g on Frostfang is nice, no doubt about that, but it also doesn't have the mana regen and CDR we need, and then at 1000g we lose our gold passive entirely. Like sure, we dont have to spend the 950g on the upgrade, but... we weren't doing that anyway. Honestly a lot of these preseason changes haven't been very good news for Sona. I don't know how it is working for other enchanters, but Sona's not really liking these changes a lot.

: Only thing really hitting Leona hard was the HP regen. Leona is in such a good spot, especially with all the Sennas running around. However, it's shame that Riot didnt bother adding purely TANK support item. Now you gotta choose if you want AD or AP item. None of which matter for champs like Leona or Nautilus. The worst change is mainly for enchanter/mage supports, who severely got their mana regen cut into pieces.
I feel like Sona's been hit pretty hard by this too, as now she doesn't have two of the most important stats for her on her support item, and the cutting of gold gen after 1000 really hurts because she's way more item-dependent than her enchanter kin. Im worried, to say the least, eapecially since assassins just got a bunch of new tools, and I really do not like going from 2 bushes to 3 in the botlane

Long story short: tank supports have consistently and repeatedly recieved nothing but nerfs designed around relic shield’s heal. Now that heal is gone, and so is the bonus HP the item used to give. The tank supports are left completely unchanged, as if they still have reliv shield’s healing effect.

Fair points, but at the same time I'm not comparing their pokes, or their trading, I'm comparing the all-ins later on, which Malphite has a much easier time with. Annie can take Predator yes, but often times Malphite does too. Annie has her E speed boost to help get in range but otherwise she's pretty reliant on the Flash R. Yes, you can dodge Malphite's R with Flash, but his ult goes on such a low cooldown later that he can just try again 7 or 8 times more before your Flash is back up, and if you're like me where you *don't* play a champion with mobility, it becomes absolutely miserable to play against

Honestly Akali is probably the lamest choice for this skinline, the other four I don't really care about, but Akali's definitely the worst choice of the 5, considering that it's a pretty redundant skin theme considering she has KDA (Ahri has the same issue) and that she just received Project so thisll be her fourth skin in about a year. I don't really care that they're all popular champs. Makes sense. I just wish it was a popular champ not named Akali.

It's a damn shame how there's several champions that are just needlessly ignored in the lore, and frankly it kinda makes me get salty when other champions get updated multiple times and my favorite still has received nothing.

Soraka isn't an AP Mage though so not sure what you're getting at Also if you're taking damage done graphs as a sign of outdamaging your midlaner it's best to keep in mind that a Lux support is spending the entirety of lane phase constantly poking and fighting two enemies as opposed to the one in mid, plus she doesn't have to worry about farming either, which means that's all she needs to do

Like, I'm not asking for an unpopular champ, I get it, they want this skinline to be a showstopper like KDA was, they want popular champs, but hey, maybe a *different* popular champion?
