I'm not gonna defend Riot for every bs that we see in the game. The dragons are suspect (especially ocean and elder) and junglers are looking like they will be more meta than season 9. I will say though, feedback is always appreciative more now than ever since this is preseason. I almost got into a ranked game with a soraka jg in cleanse and ghost. This is the type of shit I'd expect right now up until the new season starts.
: People troll picking and not trying in Ranked is worse than ever.
Funnily enough as I was reading this post, I queued into a soraka jg with ghost and cleanse who picked last. I believe it.

It's not devaluing any high elo players at all tho. Even in this current system, there are challenger-level players that are in diamond. How is that any different than promos not existing? Does that make them bad players? Of course not. Removing promos makes things less tedious. Being able to even get to high elo is pretty amazing in itself.
: No, I'm saying your approach to the game is the reason you dislike promos, not any inherent problem with promos themselves. You're creating stress for yourself, and you could easily avoid that but you choose not to. As a result, every game is stressful and promos are way more stressful still. And I'm pretty sure Riot stated recently that ranked has been the most popular queue for a long time... but I can't cite it, so I won't say it as fact.

What the are you talking about? Despite the myriad of stupid (but funny) shit that happens in either ranked or normal games, I'm not really stressed about LoL at all. I simply find that promos is tedious.
: But it wouldn't be 'lose enough' it'd be 'lose one'. You'd literally promote, then demote on your next loss. Seems like it'd make that first game after you promote needlessly stressful... and it'd probably take any sense of meaning out of promoting entirely. It always amuses me how unhealthy most peoples' approach to this game is... they treat EVERY game like it's a tournament or a promotion series, which means every game is extremely stressful, and thus there's no room to get 'more serious', so if any added pressure gets added on, it breaks them. Learn from G2. They try to play their best every game, but they still joke around, have fun, and take some levity into the situation. However.... when it comes to an important game, all bets are off and they go srs mode. That's how it should be. Your normal ranked games should be FUN. You should still play your best, but you should be enjoying it, win or lose. Then when you get to a series, you go srs bsns mode and pull out all the stops. And if you lose, well, that leaves you more motivated to do it next time.
So what you are saying is that I should go through tedious bullshit (in terms of promos) just to get a sense of value from promoting, than just climbing the rank. I like a good challenge but playing this game is annoying enough. Why have the extra layer? If Riot removed promo games, it's not like everyone will start winning. You are still gonna be matched with 9 other variables that determine the outcome of each game. Believe me, I think losing 3-5 games in one sitting is 'lose enough.' Any more and it would be demoralizing. There are probably more players that play normals than ranked games. If this idea was implemented, we could see more players opting to ranked games. The whole idea of promos was to give a tournament style way to rank up. But there is no tournament. For the most part, there is no meeting with four other individuals and training and fighting against another team that does the same. We are literally in a matchmaking queue that put in 10 random players who's skill levels vary (including smurfs). I believe that there is still meaning into ranking if you wanted to with or without promos. Everyone started somewhere and they usually want to see how far they can reach to the top.
Antenora (EUW)
: Below Diamond 1 they should run the same system as TFT. Let's say you're Platinum 1 85 LP, you win a game and get 23 LP. You should be promoted to Diamond 4 8 LP. For Diamond 1 -> Master a normal 5 games promotion series should apply. The promotion/demotion system in Master, Grandmaster and Challenger should not change.

You know, I think I can compromise with that.
: Demotion protection is definitely a thing. After you get promoted, you have a grace period where you can't be demoted. If they get rid of promotion matches, they'd have to get rid of that as well.
> [{quoted}](name=Eleshakai,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=p9Ao0FH9,comment-id=000700000001,timestamp=2019-09-20T20:59:24.041+0000) > > Demotion protection is definitely a thing. After you get promoted, you have a grace period where you can't be demoted. > > If they get rid of promotion matches, they'd have to get rid of that as well. That's fine. If a player usually risks losing LP just to gain LP, I dont see why we should make the transition of promoting tedious. Lose enough games and you will demote. Same is with other certain competitive games.

I just hope you understand that. I anticipate that, but really it doesnt matter. In both cases whether promos exist or not, I will demote if I lose enough games. The only difference is the ease of getting promoted.
: Promotion games by design are meant to force people to stay in whatever rank they are currently in. If you think about it logically, whether you want to believe it or not, Riot intends for each player to have an about 50% win rate. Of course, many people are above this, and many are also below this. But it generally averages out. In order to enter a normal promotion from say Gold 4 to Gold 3, you need to win the games up to getting into your promo's, and then you need to win 2/3 games. The game requires you to have a 75% win rate in your next 4 games in order to promote. (I say 3/4, because you need to win the first game to get into your promo's). This honestly makes a series seem slightly better, as you can win 3/5 to promote, and the 1 to get in is 4/6, or ~66%. Riot's ranking system by design is forced to keep people with average, below average, and unlucky streaks from being able to promote.

Riot's ranking system by design is forced to keep people with average, below average, and unlucky streaks from being able to promote. Ok. I understand the logic behind it. However, in a game that: 1. frequently ends at 15-20 minutes 2. has so much damage that deleting champions is just normal 3. have you deal with 9 other players that are essentially each a copy of jekyll and hyde (sometimes just hyde) 4. just in general has a litany of dumbass bullshit that can frustrate players up to no end I just think that a lot of players can decompress and actually have fun in rAnKeD gAmEs if promos werent available. At the end of the day, you come home from school/work, you decide to chillax and play some rank games. You win some and lose some, but you promote to a new tier feel good about yourself and move on to do other stuff until your next session. What's wrong with having that? I honestly wouldnt mind if they took away the ability to earn victorious skins if it meant having this.

: There was a unique interaction where if she played full AP with Liandries, Liandries Burn passive would also apply the bonus damage from her empowered [Q]. What you would be able to do is Empower your [Q] with the rock element, then just hit someone with the empowered [Q]. The Target would lose roughly 70% of their HP or outright kill the target. : Just kill her already...
I think the changes on her W are the best changes for Akali. For starters, the cooldown starts once you cast the ability. With the base duration 5-7 secs depending on ranks, the cooldown will actually be 20-18 secs (the current cd being 25 on rank 1 of W). Even if they remove the extension, it doesnt mean they wont consider increasing the duration of her shroud. For all we know Riot might just give her the full duration of 7-9. And on top of that, they will give her 80 energy instead of having to level up the ability to get it. If they did it this way, there would be no reason to max W second anymore but instead max E second which is probably the reason why they are nerfing it a bit. Again everything is a work in progress, so dont get too worked up about it. You have every reason to be upset/worried about these changes and I can relate, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Even if they change '?' to 'MIA', players would just spam ping '!' instead. By that logic they should change '!' into 'Danger.' It would look so stupid and take up visual space on the screen. Knowing players of this game, we'd still spam pings anyway.
