I hate to point this out, but Soraka is not a balanced toplaner. She is stronger than all the others by a wide margin. That's why she's being nerfed.

Dealing less damage to monsters means it takes him longer to kill them. This affects everything a jungler does - he'll have less health to gank with, he'll need to spend more time farming to keep up in gold+xp, and he'll take dragons/heralds less quickly.

Yeah, that's how on-target cooldowns like Jarvan's passive and Udyr's bear stance stun are usually visualized.

Every game has Lee Sin, Miss Fortune, Thresh, Lucian, Caitlyn, Sett, Kai'Sa, Leona, Ekko, Elise, Nautilus, Nami, Senna, Jhin, Yasuo, Vayne, Blitzcrank, Mordekaiser, Jarvan, Ezreal, Aphelios, Ornn, Pyke, Darius, Morgana, Diana, Lulu, Fiora, Zed, Kha'Zix, Katarina, Fizz, Rek'Sai, Akali, Master Yi, Aatrox, or Xayah. So repetitive.

When Riot made MMR hidden, more people played ranked. So they probably won't go back on that change. As it turns out, reducing a player's skill to a number is very discouraging.

How likely are nerfs to Mordekaiser's ultimate? His soloqueue stats look alright after previous nerfs but he's only seeing more pro play.

The Aphelios change is very good. It was fair on paper but marks were being applied from very long range, and followed with basic attacks from even longer range. I didn't think you'd make such a drastic change but it'll be good for his balance and interaction even if the range limit is something generous like 2k. Great article overall, lots of interesting insights here. I especially liked the breakdown of why some Akali changes are sticking and others aren't.

Honestly, I don't think Jinx's passive needs a buff. It's already really nice for getting away with aggressive plays and chaining kills together, and I like the simplicity of it. And while the new ultimate looks fun, it's not an ability I would want on a marksman who doesn't want to be divebombing enemies. There's also the big question of "What do you nerf to balance these buffs?" and I don't like the few changes you proposed. It sounds like Jinx won't be able to cast Flame Chompers while running (ouch!), and you changed W to magic damage (which I'm not actually sure is a nerf). Any other nerfs I missed? Overall there's very little need to rework Jinx - she's popular, she's fun, and she's not unbalanced in any elo. Maybe a little too good in Iron-to-Gold-level play, but I don't see any changes here that would address that.

Like, you haven't talked at all about Sett, Aphelios or the Diana rework except in extremely broad terms like winrate and "yeah this is a thing that's coming/happened."

LoL is a PvP game, not a PvE game where enemies can be forced to attack you. So if you want to be an effective damage soak, enemies need a reason to attack you. And the only way they'll do that is if you're a threat that cannot be ignored. Although if the game gets more single-target skillshots, tanks could become more effective meat shields against them.

People don't ban Darius because he's overpowered or unhealthy. He's just a natural counter to most bruisers and it's easier to ban him. How would you make him more healthy anyway? His sharp strengths are necessary to balance his severe lack of range or mobility.

He's not overpowered but he's a valid ban because he's a very difficult matchup for many of the champions people like to play toplane.

Sona's the "group and win" support champ. All her abilities are AoE and their strength is multiplied by how many allies nearby she has. It's not flashy or interesting or satisfying, but that's what she is.

He's not really that complicated to play. His design is very restrained to balance the 5 weapon concept; only one ability per gun. The only mechanic that's remotely hard to understand is the chakrams. To balance his versatility, he's like Jinx, with weak self-peel and no stealth or mobility. Really the only issues I have with his kit are clarity (it's hard to tell whats going on when he uses some weapon combos) and the absurdly powerful ultimate, issues that are already in the process of being fixed.

Surprised you didn't mention Yuumi. In a lot of ways she's a superior version of Sona, though Sona is much stronger in a grouped team.

You get good amounts of AD, AS, *and* Crit chance, while getting a powerful utility passive. Very likely needs a nerf.

Disabling skins would be a lot harder. You'd need an option to do it before the game loads, after that it's too late for a skin to be changed. The game doesn't load all your champions' sounds and visuals, only those of the skin you picked.

I view the free stats as compensation for having no W or E abilities. And, it's a lot simpler than having a system for leveling up his 5 different abilities and 5 passives. Really though there's nothing wrong with free stats, most ADCs have them in some way. Count how many abilities there are that give marksmen AD, AS, on-hit damage, etc.

Because Riot neglects old stuff, particularly when it's not relevant to gameplay. Look at the mess that their main LoL website is, stuffed with outdated information. It's embarrassing but I guess it's not important to them.

Sylas was broken overpowered in pro play, Riven never has been. This is a nerf targeting high skill players.

I think ARAM balancing is close to being "passable" but they need to make a few changes. 1st, Please God give us an item for countering shields. It shouldn't be a great item, it just needs to be decent enough to make teamcomps with multiple enchanters and Archangels bearable to play against. 2nd, they need to embrace making some changes to champions for the map. I think Nasus already stacks his Q faster, now we just need changes like "Veigar's cage doesn't last as long" or "Tryndamere's ult gets a shorter cooldown." 3rd, the Snowball shouldn't apply on-spell effects! Ignite has a 3 minute cooldown and 600ish range and it doesn't apply anything, why does Snowball when it has a <60 second cooldown and reaches across the map? It's nuts.

This meta doesn't feel more bursty than the last 5 years of League. I know this because I'm a Yi main and there have been metas before where I would just die to most enemies before I could do more than a few auto attacks.

The problem with unique midlaners is that the things that make them unique aren't always easy to balance. We can only hope to get more mages like Swain that are different without having to be nerfed to the ground.

I'm almost certain they hacked it together at the last minute when they decided to remove Kleptomancy. There is no possible niche for this rune.
