: Will their be a way to turn voice chat off with parties? Like if a group is using Discord or something like that instead?
Yup, you disconnect from the voice channel at any time, and you can go into settings and turn off joining the channel by default. You can always join manually if you want later.
: is there push to talk option?
: {{sticker:slayer-pantheon-thumbs}}
: Is there a way to turn voice chat **off** as **default**? I don't think it is a feature I would use much if not at all.
You can go into Settings and turn off joining the voice channel by default. You can always still join manually if you want.
: Lord knows I don't need shit like what happens in OW on the PS4. There are mouthbreathers, kids with parents who yell at them, animals, people playing bad music, and just people who don't understand the meaning of turn your damn voice chat off if your environment is going to be making constant noise.
@Dean: You actually do have full control over the volume of the other players in your party in the League client and in game, and you can mute others if you need to.
: Is it possible to disable the voice tab from automatically coming up when holding down Tab? Its rather annoying having it blocking the view in the lower right hand corner
Yup, we're looking at making that configurable.

You can't add them during the game, but you can invite them to your party on the end of game screen by hovering over their row and clicking the invite to party button.
: Is there a way to automatically restrict certain people from joining open parties? I don't always want those random people I friended to join a party with my real friends.
Since Open Parties is a pretty new concept for League, we wanted to start off making it dead simple: it's either open or it's closed. We'll definitely be looking at how players use to to find ways to improve it generally, including whether it makes sense to add more control over who sees it.

: Unusually Large download patch
The number shown on the tooltip is a little misleading right now. It's showing the patch download size + how much is getting changed on the disk, so it's inflated. The patch is only about 1-2 GB, but we're making a lot of content changes this patch, so 5-6 GB gets changed on the disk, hence a patch size that *looks* like it's 9 GB. Sorry for the confusion. We're going to look into it. **TL;DR:** Patch size is actually only 1-2 GB.
Meliodas (EUW)
: patch size problem ?
It's not *wrong*, but it's not clear what it's doing right now. The reported size is actually the patch download size + how much is getting changed on the disk, so it's inflated. In this patch, we're making a lot of content changes, so it looks like the patch size is huge, where it's actually only 1-2 GB. Sorry for the confusion. We're going to look into it. TL;DR: Patch size is actually only 1-2 GB.
: Massive download after patch 8.5
The tooltip on the patch progress bar is a little misleading. It's counting both how much is downloaded AND how much is being changed on the disk. The actual patch size is around 1-2 GB, but there are about 6-7 GB of content changes happening in the game files, hence the reported 9 GB size. Sorry this is confusing. We're going to take a look at it. **TL;DR:** Actual patch size is only 1-2 GB.

: why not put in the control settings what the thing i want push to talk so everyone will chose the key he want i know that but why u ask for this everyone will chose it already
Yup, you'll be able to choose the key you want! We're looking into whether we'll have some technical constraints around modifier keys (alt, shift), but it's our hope that we can support them.
: probably convienience, usually you'd want your left hand on action buttons, but your right thumb dosent do squat.
Could be worse. A friend of mine used to play "Dirty Potter" while we we did 10-man dungeons in WoW.
Rákãñ (NA)
: I'd personally keep the voice chat always on feature and use my voice mute setting on my mic. If I had to use a key it would be eaither the left shift, left alt, or left ctrl key. In the order to most favourable to least favourable.
You'll be able to use voice activation as well!
: I always use voice activation, but for league I'm guessing I'll use a mouse button
You'll be able to use voice activation as well!
: Wait, does this mean we're getting voice chat?
Yup! We announced it [a couple months ago](https://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/en-us/2017/12/dev-upcoming-party-changes/), along with some other changes to parties.
Fleiryn (EUW)
: I used to use T, now mouse button 4
: I don't use push to talk and I annoy my friends every time.
You're the guy who's always chewing, aren't you?
: For standard across the board i use the middle mouse key. But please make it changeable. No offense to you guys you do great work but youll never make a button everyone wants to use so give us the option to change it as we see fit.
: I generally use the combination "alt+f4"

: > If you had CTRL set for PTT for League, what would you expect to happen if you used another CTRL function in League, like leveling up Q (CTRL + Q)? I don't use the CTRL function to level abilities, so it wouldn't affect me. However, I would expect customization when it comes to keybinds.
Yup, you'd be able to change PTT to whatever you want, and you'd continue to be able to change what keys level up abilities.
: i use V alot because its so clos Maybe make the voice chat button changeable in settings so people can set it however they want
Aceras (NA)
: I use L-Alt for my push to talk key currently while playing league (and across all other games), and use my left thumb to push it. This keeps the 4 other fingers on my left hand free for main actions. The only other button my left thumb uses is the space bar, so it's not getting in the way of me taking any other actions. Additional context: I settle my hand on the "asdf" keys, which makes it easier to know where to go to push different keys (because it's the same position as typing). I also use esdf instead of wasd in FPS games because of this reason. It also opens up more keys for me to access in case i need options (and I don't like holding shift or control to access other actions). The only shift+ actions I take are shift+key to level up my respective abilities (qwer). I use zxcv as "self cast." These are just a mirror of the ones below. From a fellow UXer, good luck! Happy to be of more help if needed.
This is great info! Thanks for taking the time to write it up! I'm also a huge ESDF fan. Always pisses me off when games don't respect it even when you rebind.
: This Little Key would prob be the best place to put it `
: this but i mean keybinds so ~ could be the standard but you could def change it in settings if you want due to preference, just as long as you can go into keybinds and customize it doesn't really matter tbh
Yup, you'll be able to customize it.
Krigjer (NA)
: I tend to use CNTRL or ~ since both are accessible using wasd, but in a game like League, it's a hassle to remove any finger from qwer during a fight, so I prefer to use voice activation when possible.
If you had CTRL set for PTT for League, what would you expect to happen if you used another CTRL function in League, like leveling up Q (CTRL + Q)?

: Two reasons: * It's apparently the optimal horizontal distance for reading * The empty space eventually gets used by the UI for nesting I agree with you, it looks really strange how the text stops halfway across the screen and the UI keeps going. This has been brought up before, and I think the general consensus from Riot was "meh" or something along those lines.
I wasn't part of those discussions, but I moonlight as a typography nerd, so let me elaborate on the likely origin of "optimal horizontal distance." There's an idea in typography that an [optimal line-length](http://practicaltypography.com/line-length.html) exists. As line-length increases, your eye has to travel farther to complete a line, which is generally tiring on the eyes and makes it harder to track your progress vertically. What's a "good" line-length? Turns out it's about 2-3 alphabets-worth of characters, give or take depending on the use case. There are a couple reasons for this: - Research shows that your [mind is energized](http://baymard.com/blog/line-length-readability) when skipping to a new line. ("[Typographie](http://www.designers-books.com/typography-emil-ruder-1967/)," E. Rudder) - Usability research going back to the 1930s shows that some readers may read faster with longer line-lengths, but [readers generally preferred medium-sized line lengths](http://www.humanfactors.com/newsletters/optimal_line_length.asp) -- three to four inch lengths at 10-point font or about 2-3 alphabets -- and lost their place less often Boards is right in that area: (1)abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz(2)abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz(3)abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz(4)abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz Not everyone will agree, and there are lots of people who honestly read faster and just as effectively with longer line-lengths. But for most people, they're more comfortable and less prone to errors when the line-length stays in that golden range of 2-3 alphabets. I'm sure there are many, many reasons for the particular line-length Boards has -- the team naturally obsesses over those kinds of details, I'm sure -- but I'd bet the 2-3 alphabets rule is likely one of them.

I'm very curious about your formatting feedback (as a self-proclaimed Markdown Nerd). > - Make it possible to underline Why do you feel the need for underline, and what about *italics* and **bold** don't quite work for you? > - Get a better formatting system. The asterisk thing is bad Do you use asterisks for emphasis anywhere else? If so, why don't they work for you on Boards?

: That sounds about right, yes. In order to get it to look like the picture you linked, it needs to be separated with a triple newline rather than a double newline.
I cheated -- I edited the HTML in Web Inspector. I think the problem is that the Markdown engine is inserting a <p> tag *inside* the second list, which adds an extra margin at the bottom, which creates the weird extra space between the second list's items. Looks like a potential bug to me. Hopefully Krylhos will see and magic it away with his wizardry!
: Yes, that's correct. Thanks for footnote! You learn something new every day :D I like to make list with sub-bullets, and something like this: - Point one | Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit - elaboration one | Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit - Point two | Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit - elaboration two | Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit looks a lot nicer than - Point one | Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit - elaboration one | Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit - Point two | Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit - elaboration two | Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit In my opinion, at least.
P.S. I'm a big fan of [your work](http://ansible.wikia.com/wiki/Hyrum_Graff), Colonel. ;)
: Bullets - illogical formatting marks (line breaks)
Let me see if I understand. In the situation you're describing, you have two lists that you want to separate with a double newline to indicate that they're different lists (let's call it first list, second list). Logically, you should be able to write something like this[^1]: > \- First list, first item > \- First list, second item > \- Second list, first item > \- Second list, second item But the end result looks weird: http://i.imgur.com/5Rd6btR.png You'd rather it look like the source: two lists, separated by a small space, or something like this: http://i.imgur.com/qlilW00.png Is that right? [^1]: Minor footnote, I made the Markdown formatting visible by using an escape character \\ in front of the bullet character (\-). We don't have support for Markdown's version of <code> or <pre> just yet. **Edit:** Edited for clarity. Even I got confused by first and second lists. XD
: This has gotten me a few times as well, my laptop is a tablet hybrid (touchscreen) and the screen is buggy as hell. sometimes it will randomly click somewhere on a page, and if I'm, say, typing a long draft of a post and hit backspace at the wrong time -poof- all gone. :( I think everyone here either really wants this feature or doesn't yet realize they want this feature, but as Krylhos said, it's always a matter of priorities and this may seem simply to start but can turn into a huge time-sink depending on bugs, compatibility and such. So it's a "yes but not now" imho.
As a general rule with all the stuff we build, the difficulty's much less in the feature itself than scaling it to the number of people who have to use it -- or the number who will have to use it in the future. Even for a relatively simple feature, a lot of the work goes into making sure it can hold up under a lot of weight. You have to have very different supports when the structure has to hold up ten players vs. a thousand vs. a hundred-thousand players.
: While this **is** technically a solution, it's a really poor one. Auto-saving in forums is a problem that has been solved numerous times over and, quite frankly, it's a simple feature to implement (particularly with the advent of local store). In addition, Microsoft Word won't show you any of the board's formatting (since it uses markup) which doesn't give you a good preview.
MS Word and most text editors aren't really great writing environments. I'll write directly on Boards for short posts, but if I ever want to do something long like what the OP described, I always go to a slick editor. Helps my brain focus just on the words. I'm a huge Markdown nerd (as the Boards team's painfully aware), and I highly recommend some of the awesome Markdown-flavored text editors out there. If you're on a Mac, I recommend these two: - [Byword](http://bywordapp.com) - one of the best writing experiences I've had on the Mac - [Mou](http://mouapp.com) - less sexy than Byword, but free! If you're on Windows, I've heard good things about (but not used) the following: - [Markdown Pad](http://markdownpad.com) - [Haroopa](http://pad.haroopress.com) This is just my personal recommendation, as someone who's picky about writing environments (and who has lost more than one forum post on other platforms to the reload button). I'm certain the Boards team will always be [making improvements](http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/site-feedback/lTF9ATMR-really-really?comment=0008) to the basic editor.

: So...When I DC, and Leavebuster throws me BACK OUT after I finally manage to RC, ....You're gonna fix that, right? Cause missing 5 minutes cause of comp or net issues is one thing. Missing 15 because I RC'ed and got thrown back out is ridiculous. Not sure that was what you INTENDED with the system, but if it is, stop it. IDC if you cut my IP for the game,(And LP in ranked) but seriously, if I bother to RC, let me play instead of throwing me right back out.
If I'm reading this right, I think you may be misinterpreting what LeaverBuster does. LeaverBuster is a system that detects whether you're leaving games a lot (for whatever reason, DC or no) in a small amount of time. If you seem like you're leaving a lot more than what would constitute a DC every now and then, it gives you a warning or hands you a temp ban (depending on how often it's happening). It always does this after the game -- it certainly shouldn't be banning you in the middle of a game or throwing you back out. If it is, then that's probably something that should change. However, it *sounds* like you might just be experiencing some internet connection issues. Is there something in particular being being "thrown out" of the game that makes it seem like LeaverBuster is the culprit?
