: The Riot Games Balance team does not care about you or your feedback.
Ahh your last paragraph, you misunderstand the way of the rito gam. They usually won't just revert the dumbass buffs and nerfs they did exclusively for pro play, they instead say "well preseason is pretty soon so like the balance will change lol just deal with it." Reminds me of season 7. "We can't nerf Ardent Censor because Worlds is like 6 months away. Okay it's after Worlds and we finally nerfed it, but all this other imbalance as a result of the meta for the whole year changing? Well preseason is 2 to 3 months out so we can't change it."
: > [{quoted}](name=Naalith,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=g7huJUtw,comment-id=00020001,timestamp=2019-09-12T14:22:03.895+0000) > > Hard disagree. Maybe the first few months weren't so bad but once Ardent meta started and Riot absolutely refused to balance the game for like 6 months because "durrrr Worlds is like 8 patches away we can't do nuffin." Basically every single friend I had that played since season 1-2 quit right around Worlds 2017 for that reason, and those who eventually came back still only play a couple games a month. He means, by comparison with the systemwide cataclysm that defined Season 8 from the start until now. By the end of Season 7, League was relatively balanced.
Oh I know, I just hard disagree. I see season 7 and 8 as diametrically opposed opposites on the far ends of how shit this game can be, equally bad in their own right. For season 7, a game where one item dictated the entire meta for over half the year and Riot refused to do absolutely anything to the point of absurdity. Season 8 on the other hand, was "balanced" every patch or every other patch so insanely that new game systems and reworks of items and all kinds of other garbage was just thrown into the game seemingly without testing. I honestly don't know which I hated worse.
: Don't you guys love the jungle?
"I know what will make junglers stop spam ganking, we'll take xp out of jungle camps multiple times and make it so your only viable method of getting xp is killing laners and leeching xp from your teammates. What do you mean Lee Sin is now in every match I dun see him in pro play lmao." -rito gam

: Quick Gameplay Thoughts: September 13
Are you planning on buffing back champions who took some hits due to pro play on 9.20?
: Its clear: Skins >>> Top Lane Balance
Not just top lane balance, this shit happens everywhere. The only exceptions I can think of are a small Evelynn nerf when K/DA launched, and this patch when they nerfed Xayah (but then again, pro play $$$$$ might override skin $$$$$).
: Season 7 wasnt that bad.
Hard disagree. Maybe the first few months weren't so bad but once Ardent meta started and Riot absolutely refused to balance the game for like 6 months because "durrrr Worlds is like 8 patches away we can't do nuffin." : I don't hate Kai'sa, but in what world is that E nerf even remotely significant
Meanwhile look at the way they nerfed Xayah. Kai'sa is a terror at all skill levels, Xayah was pretty middle of the pack bordering on underpowered, but in pro play she was good so they completely gutted her. Kai'sa, the golden god of League of Legends and ultra popular champion with more skins on the way who is ruining the game everywhere else? Ehh, 20% attack speed reduction on her second or third max spell at a point in the game she has already snowballed into her items should do the trick. I honestly hate pro play. My only hope is that immediately after worlds they buff back all the champions they completely annihilated so that 0.0001% of the playerbase can have "fair" matches. It's bullshit that the actual people who play the game have to deal with terrible balance that multiplies the closer it gets to Worlds for the benefit of a couple hundred people at best, they should just put Worlds on a different special patch.

: Legendary skins should be focused on older champions, rather than new ones
Legendary skins for older champions are amazing for the reasons everyone is stating. It's more than just a fresh coat of paint, but the new animations basically breathe life into champions worth PS2 level art and it's amazing. However, I don't think the issue is new champions getting legendaries as much as it is intense laziness on Riot's part. Look at Odyssey Kayn, it released a year after Kayn who is pretty new and still got completely new animations. Shadow Kayn flips into walls and does way cleaner spins and walking cycles, while Rhaast has new animations to match an uncompromising killing machine. Riot could've similarly made new animations for Pyke, but nope. He gets emotes only. X&R have new animations on their spells but nowhere near as crazy as some legendaries get. I think Riot has just mandated that less work goes into the skins, like many other areas of the game. It's sad because they let the art departments put out such high quality stuff but I guess it's changing. Splash arts like Qiyana and newer skins (PROJECT especially) just aren't as good and the skins match. Unique champion designs? Naw, they don't sell skins so no monsters since Rek'sai in 2015 (or 2016 if you count Aurelion). Fun events to hype up players? Naw, let's just throw grindy quests at players. Cool new products to boost revenue? Naw, let's do scummy stuff like take away loading screen borders and certain colored chromas and lock them behind obscene bundle costs so mains feel like they have to pay up to get a complete product, plus rng loot box garbage like Little Legends and event orbs all day long. Tl;dr it's less of a problem of these skins being for newer champions and more an issue that Riot's standard for art is dropping like other aspects of this game.

: Patch 9.18 notes
Rip Xayah. Another fun champion being hard nerfed sure to pro play.
: Morgana Deserves a Legendary Skin
Eclipse Knight Kayle and Coven Morgana would be so cool. Kayle could also use a second legendary since they turned her sleek Protoss-esque futuristic skin into chonky space cop made of clay.

: Aetherwing Kayle's voice.
Unfortunately it probably won't happen. Being able to toggle on and off voice filters would require coding a new feature, and we all know Riot doesn't like coding new features for the enjoyment of players if it doesn't directly give them an avenue to make a cash grab.
: Star Guardian In Game Models and More!
Too bad you guys are nerfing Xayah due to pro play next patch, except unlike Kai'sa who is actually strong in all elos you are slamming Xayah into the dirt. It's a shame pro play is more profitable than the characters these skins are made for actually being playable and fun.
: That incoming Leesin buff is disgusting,
What, you don't like the fact that a character who has been in basically every game since 2012 and is super safe and is also fucking insanely broken this season even moreso than usual is getting a major buff?
: Kai'sa every game
Yeah if we could just have a couple months where everyone who plays Yasuo, Ezreal, and Lee Sin every game would fuck off I'd be so happy. Multiple years of having these safe high tier picks really makes the game feel too samey.

: Grinding out the full worth of your event pass.
Yeah, League's passes are a complete ripoff and I hope they discontinue them next year (even though let's be real, they won't.) They're trying to copy battle pass systems that other games have except instead of 100 tiers of decent to amazing loot, you instead spend triple or maybe even quadruple the amount of time just to get a single skin or 100 Prestige Points. It's honestly just... not worth it. For comparison I bought the most recent Rocket League pass halfway into the summer event and still managed to not only hit 70 (the final rank of the pass), but get an additional 50 levels (levels over 70 give you chromas of other items in the battle pass) which is super worth. I basically got a bunch of cool stuff, then colored versions of goals and boosts and stuff that could match tons of different colors on my different cars. Keep in mind that I only played maybe 5 hours a week tops on Rocket League's pass and got way more out of it than League's pathetic grind. Riot needs to either increase the number of rewards (full skins for the events rather than just one prestige and some weird rainbow chromas and loading screen borders) or make the grind far, far lower.

: Still hands down the best login screen they've done
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qbMCmdSEoaA Lucian's is probably my favorite. It blew my mind that instead of booting up the game and having music like normal, they used the login screen as a place to set up his character to everyone who was around. It was so cool. Elise's login is probably tied with Lucian for the same reason.

: Kalista new skin
Kalista is probably my favorite ADC of all time. When she came out I basically played her exclusively for a year (when I ADC'd, which is admittedly not my most played role.) I hope one day Riot can change her in a way that pro play doesn't require her to be entirely useless, but unfortunately the best parts of her kit (ally knockup ult, infinite mobility, E stacks, W spirits for vision) are all big pro play issues. I just wish I could play the vengeful javelin spirit again, she was so fun before the was stamped into what she is today.

You are 100% correct. The "common" Eternals should also unlock globally on every champion, Riot can't honestly tell me that unlocking "kills in a game" or "turrets destroyed" deserves to be unlocked 140 times.

: I want to see something from Bandle City. It's the only one of the regions that doesn't really have any kind of story of its own, as of yet. Demacia has the mage rebellion going on, the Freljord has the three sisters vying for control of the region, the Shadow Isles has the Harrowing, Bilgewater has Miss Fortune taking control, etc etc But the Yordles just kind of... exist. They feel like they're not even connected to Runeterra in any meaningful way. They *come here*, they *do things*, but only ever as individuals. What about as a group?
Ah yes, I didn't think of them because the wording of "which story would you like to move forward" would require a story at all. Bandle City lacks enough base detail to carry anything forward.

: Quick Gameplay Thoughts: August 23
I'm not sure about the EoN change. The issue with Banshee's veil is that it takes way too long to turn on and any damage resets the timer. Many EoN users are junglers who are always fighting camps so it would basically ruin the item if you have to sit in the brush for 45 seconds before ganking to activate the shield. I'd say leave it be. After Worlds are you planning to buff back pro play champions that were nerfed for Worlds? Also, any thoughts on Irelia?

: Which story would you like to move forward after demacia ?
Shadow Isles. The last update other than the recently released short story was the Yorick update in 2016, and the last new champion in that region was Kalista. Mordekaiser being moved to Noxus is a direction I like, but now there's a notable lack of a major in- game villain at the Isles. There's a ton of evil characters, but there's a lack of a big villain. We've heard about the Ruined King for years and I'd love to finally see him in game. If Mordekaiser returns it could also be through the Mist that allows the other dead to come back. Either way, we need something for the region.
: I'm starting to see why people dont want to Jungle
Yeah, playing jungle is terrible, especially if a troll is in your game which is like 30% of the time. My favorite is when my top lane shoves his first wave, gets ganked and dies, tps back and dies again, then starts crying about how it's my fault I'm not there and how I lost the game. People don't think rationally when they're attacking junglers, they just blame junglers for somehow losing their lane instead of looking at their own playstyle.

: Kayle is frustrating... To play as
Yeah, the rework was only really fun when she was blatantly busted. They're trying some stuff to change her up but we'll see how it goes. The champion is basically for masochists now, you sit back and try not to get annihilated for 15 minutes and by the time you're becoming an actual champion your teammates have either won or lost the game independently of you. Even hitting 16 is no guarantee you'll have fun, you're sometimes so far down on CS and gold that you're just not useful in any way. I was playing Irelia a couple days ago and just hit 6, only had 2 kills on the Kayle at the time, when enemy Pantheon came top. I 1v2'd two full health enemies and my friends went berserk about how crazy a double kill that early in the game when all parties had full hp was, I had to explain it wasn't very impressive because Kayle is basically a cannon minion pre 11.

Soooooo... you want League to go even further down the shitty path of balancing the game around pro play and taking fun champions out of the hands of players who aren't D1+?
: A Tahm Kench Main's Thoughts on Current Tahm Kench
Yeah, the entire game being balanced around pro play has basically fucked a ton of people out of their mains and has led to some of the shittiest feeling roles when Riot slashes the heels of an entire role at once (jungle still feels ass). It used to be a bit of a meme back in the day that Ryze and Azir were off limits due to pro play. Then this honor extended to Kalista. Then this honor extended to Rek'sai to the point they annihilated her whole concept and gave her a boring damage ult. Here we are 4 years later and there are arguably 20+ champions that suck because of pro play, and the list is only going to increase because Riot seems to have zero clue as to what makes a champion in pro play. I've also seen a lot of people say champions like Tahm aren't even that bad. Sure there is a range of usefulness for characters who have gotten slapped with nerfs, but I also think people overlook what sucks most about a lot of these changes: fantasy. People don't like Tahm Kench because he's a high damage fish, they like him because he was an armored car support and that fantasy is essentially dead. Rek'sai wasn't enjoyed because she was a bruiser with bruiser abilities, she was enjoyed because her burrow sense made her feel like a predator and building out a network of tunnels you teleport to anytime solidified that fantasy. Even in cases where the characters make a comeback, all their unique flair is replaced with boring damage and the gameplay promise Riot made to mains of that champion has vanished.
: Me and my wife spent $2,000 on this game in the last year - Here is my opinion on Eternals.
Damn, I never even thought about what it would be like for new players like yourself to come to League late to the party and still see it as a shit show. My friends and I have been playing since the 2010-2012 era, and the slow degradation of the game to the state it is in now is absurd. Like gameplay aside, we've watched as the ship has just slowly sank and Riot has lost all ability to create compelling new content, there is a reason every announcement has a giant backlash. It's been sad as a long time player but I now see why we have such a playerbase issue, new players like yourself just see another EA and bounce whereas people like me were playing before scumbag business were really in the spotlight. First they introduced loot boxes, then they did event loot boxes, then they took borders which were early adopter bonuses (first one being Elementalist Lux) off of skins and made them cost like 500 RP extra on top of the skin price to get now or you can grind them, then they made a new infinite leveling system like Overwatch but didn't retroactively give out XP for the last 8 years of the game so any bragging rights associated with level are bullshit and meaningless and it was just a way to do a low effort ripoff of other loot based level systems, at the same time they fucked everyone out of the BE they had spent on runes over the years and gave out icons and emotes no one gave a shit about in exchange for playing thousands of hours as "compensation," then they added Ruby chromas to an exclusive overpriced bundle, then they started paid event passes, then prestige skins came, then prestige points came, then Little Legends came, and now here we are. Basically, this company has lost the one thing they somehow managed to keep despite all of the issues League had over the years: respect. Riot is a cool company that puts out high quality product? Well actually, now they're just doing low effort loot box bullshit. Riot was a passionate small indie company who became the biggest game in the world to show you can do it without being scummy? Well there's all that sexual assault stuff and horror stories from inside Riot. Riot constantly improves their work? Well actually they've given up on champion reveal pages, spotlights, login screens, and new art is derivative and lower effort than it used to be (We get various shirtless hot dudes and sexy fit girls, a few years ago we got a fucking star dragon and a spirit balloon man as well as the dual embodiment of death, plus monsters and more varied designs).

Even people who have mains would think it was kinda cool to get some progression when they are forced to play other champions. The fact this his a paid feature is just so scummy, especially after all the other backlash they've gotten the last year or two from their fast downhill turn. Riot seems to have forgotten that if they make a good game, tons of people will play and therefore more people will be around to buy skins and stuff. They've gone down the other path of wanting to seemingly drive people away and exploit those who are left.
: Let's get this right: Eternals aren't "Achievements" (+Thoughts)
Holy shit, 850 RP?? That's significantly more expensive than I thought they would be. I was already annoyed when I heard they were bundling 3 Eternals together because we all know that's corporate talk for making one item you want overpriced by throwing in two garbage items, but I was still expecting these to be like 250 RP and that was STILL completely unacceptable. Honestly, what the fuck Riot?

: "Eternals" a new dirty way to win money.
Having to pay for the privilege of earning achievements basically just ensures no one will care about the system. It won't be "wow, this Yuumi saved 1000 people in their career!" but rather "Oh, this guy paid for the thing lmao." Riot's progression systems are ass. Another example is that no one takes infinite leveling as a serious barometer of time played like in Overwatch because progress for 8 years of the game wasn't retroactively given.

So don't get me wrong, I love the PVE modes and have completed every achievement for the star guardian and Odyssey events, but I'm not sure events like those would hold peoples' interest long term. Even if the scope of the modes were widely expanded, PVE is still inherently less replayable than PVP and everyone here plays League for the PVP anyways. Additionally, League's isometric view is just kinda... meh for dedicated PVE games where you only control one unit. League isn't an RTS. That being said, I would love to see a PVE League game that is like a first or third person RPG with co-op. Something expansive like the Witcher but with League IP would be amazing, I'm not sure if Riot would ever make something single player but it could be cool.
