: You don't seem to understand that when YOU autofill, you save OTHER PEOPLE'S time not just YOUR OWN TIME. And when they autofill THEY SAVE YOUR TIME. So, you might be willing to waste your own time, but you are also wasting OTHER PEOPLE'S time. So, you are harming them. It's not just about YOUR OWN TIME. When you are autofilled, you are saving time for 9 people that wouldn't get their game at that time if you were not eligible to autofill. How exactly is YOUR system making up for that lost time to those 9 people?
I think you are tunneling on factors that suit Autofill, which maybe you are right that everyone's queue time would go up by a small margin if this were to be put into place - but you also aren't looking at the time being saved in these areas: 1. Less dodging since people will get their roles more often (this alone would make up the difference in queue time as I often get queues where dodge after dodge happens, greatly increasing queue times). 2. Less champion selects being held hostage since people will be on their comfort roles more often. 3. Higher quality games since everyone will actually be comfortable in the roles they're playing. Also, the majority of queues in Gold and below are 1-2 minutes in length (where the majority of the playerbase resides) - would a 1 minute extra wait really be that much to ask for higher quality games? The worst I think that could happen is it becomes harder and harder to implement this as the elo goes higher, since there are less and less players - maybe the protection would have to have a hard cutoff somewhere in high Diamond due to queue times getting too long for everyone involved, but I don't know the stats on it so I'm not sure. Also, to your point about saving people's time - I really don't think people want to waste 20-30 minutes of their time in-game on a game where someone is egregiously worse than their lane opponent (and guess what? If I dodge the game in champ select because I know I will be inting my team by staying, then the queue length just went up a lot more for those 9 other players).

: If you are guaranteed not to be autofilled. And you are in the same queue as others that ARE able to be autofilled, you are lowering THEIR chances to get their role. So, it's either you have to wait for 10 people that all have the box ticked, so you don't change other people's chances to get their roles, or you are going to have to autofill as well in some times. + you are not even asking to be one of your 2 roles, You are asking guaranteed bot.
The point of the idea isn't to lower other people's chances but for the player who doesn't want to off-role to be guaranteed it via sacrificing their time. Other people's chances shouldn't be lowered if they don't have the box ticked because the people who do have it ticked are basically saying that they will eat the time penalty in order to secure their role. I am sure it could be implemented so that the matchmaking system can differentiate and not harm players who have Autofill enabled.

: Only way this would work is if you are ok waiting for all 10 players in your game to have the box ticked. It's not fair you not having to ever fill but you take advantage of other people filling. So, sure, in theory you could wait for 10 people that are 2 of each role that all have "i don't want to be autofilled" enabled. But this would end up with queue times of over 2-3 hours imo. (especially since you would need 2 supports that both are willing to wait even though they are pretty much guaranteed their role anyway in normal Q)
There would be no reason for all 10 players to have the box ticked - everyone is in the same queue and those who don't mind playing different roles won't have it checked. It's basically only for the 10% of the time or whatever it is that people actually get Autofilled and don't wish to be - I imagine it would be a +5-10 minute extra wait at most and no extra wait for people who can play multiple roles well. Like I said before, I wish I could get hard stats on these things, but that's pretty impossible unless a Rioter is willing to share that information with us.
