I want a single vote for the entirety of the match (per side). After that there is a complete lockout of further requests to vote. A problem I could see with this would be someone calling an early surrender vote when the game is well within reach and no one else wants to surrender yet, but then 10 mins later the match goes completely lopsided and now the rest of the team wants to surrender but cannot since the one time vote was used earlier. I personally see nothing wrong with changing your vote based on how the game has played out since the last vote was started. Maybe a better solution is some sort of toggle option on the scoreboard where you change if you want to surrender or not, and when 4/5 people have yes toggled the match ends. This prevents annoying people with constant votes on the screen while also allowing people to change their vote throughout the match. Maybe instead of each side getting one surrender vote start, each individual gets one vote starting option (5 total per team). This would at least eliminate getting locked out when you didn't want to waste your one chance to surrender so early in the match due to some troll spamming it right at 15 mins. >It's now or never, as the saying goes. People would forget the toggling because its a passive interface. They want a prompt to see how the vote falls. There's never going to be a perfect solution. I like flexibility but I hate flip-flopping, and err toward the later. I don't care about how lopsided the match is. That's related but not intrinsically tied to the surrender vote. There are other reasons the vote may be requested: someone has to go afk, the road to winning is so uphill it's not fun (melee vs range poke), etc... Your vote should mean something. It's not an opportunity to rinse and repeat after your in game failings. The point is that surrender is treated like a fail safe for when crap hits the fan. I don't think or want it to be treated that way. I simply communicate to my team that I will vote yes once. After that they are locked in to the end.
: I'm not 100% sure that I understand what you are saying so correct me if I am wrong, but what I believe you're saying is that if your team doesn't surrender the first time that you won't let them out by voting no every other surrender vote following the first vote as retaliation? I have no personal issues with this seeing as I would never surrender no matter how ugly the match gets anyways, but I just don't understand the need for the spiteful retaliation. If they vote no the first voting round that is their right, so you are getting vengeance by voting no for the remainder of that you originally wanted out of just to try and aggravate them because they aggravated you by not surrendering. The only difference is intent since they wanted to finish out the game and had no intent of trolling you, where you are openly admitting to not surrender for the purpose of beating it into their brains that if they don't surrender when you want them to that you are gunna make them suffer till the finish and they can't change their minds. Either way it doesn't really matter since all 5 of you have the right to vote for whatever the hell you want and that includes changing or not changing your mind at any point during future votes. So yes, they have no right to complain about you saying no over and over again just like you had no right no complain about them saying no the very first vote.

It's NOT what I said. It's NOT done out of spiteful retaliation. I would rather have Riot implement a limit on surrender vote more restrictive than the current allowance, where it's allowed to be repeatedly requested after a set cooldown. I want a single vote for the entirety of the match (per side). After that there is a **complete lockout** of further requests to vote. As I stated, **I play with no regrets**. You vote once and that is it. After that first surrender request/poll, there should be **absolutely** no way to request a second, third, fourth, etc... vote. The **opportunity to vote later devalues the first request**, because there's this pervading thought that "if something goes wrong we can vote later." I play for reasons other than winning like you. I play on my alt for fun. Winning is the ultimate goal, but I won't simply give up because it's a tough match. I can still practice laning, 1v1s, single objectives, macro, map rotation, etc... Even if the outcome of the match looks unlikely I will never initiate a surrender vote myself, but I make it know that I will only vote once. I will not subject myself to the idea "we can always vote later." If a vote is to occur, players (IMHO), should have the foresight of the undesirable outcome or the path to a comeback is undesirable. I can understand either. Sometimes it's too much work to pull off an epic comeback. I get that. But I won't be voting yes down the road b/c you changed your mind. It's **now** or **never**, as the saying goes. There are no backzies when I play. This is my compromise to players who want to surrender, even if I rather not. You vote yes the first time or you will play it out.
: Yeah, a lot of people completely disregard potential AFKers on the enemy team, arguments/trolls on the enemy team, champion scaling and/or individual skill advantage on your own team, and increased respawn timers later in the game that are all potential win conditions even in the most grim situations. Even with that said, losing a match, or thinking you are going to lose should never be seen as a "waste of time" considering 50% of playtime would be a complete waste if that were true. I highly doubt they would ever completely trash the surrender system but I personally don't need it.

I highly doubt they would ever completely trash the surrender system but I personally don't need it. I started with that perspective, especially on my main. However, I've adopted a new approach on my alt accounts, where I prefer to play lots of off-meta stuff. Before I vote, I make it known that I ONLY vote yes the first time. After that no matter how bad it gets, how much I fail, I will vote no and force people to play it out because I do not believe in backzies. I play with no regrets. I also make it know that I am always willing to take 10/90s, don't care about KDA or how humiliating the defeat will turn out, and will just relentlessly fight it out because I want MIchael Bay theatrics. There have been enough matches that I come across the same people, they use to vote no. They generally vote yes now the first time.

There's still a caveat with that assertion. In order to start at honor 2 at the beginning of a season, you actually had to have gotten honor in a previous season to get you above honor 2 for that prior season. If you perpetually never earned honors for the entire season that you played, you would still get no honors for the current season and for the following season the season reset would put you at 0. Doesn't mean you were toxic. Just means you fellow players didn't feel that you deserved honors. Theoretically, you could play the game with getting no honors and increase your honor level starting from 0. There is natural progression. But given what we know about progression from threads here and on reddit that probably would be an insane amount of playing with no honors given by fellow players to get the season rewards. Even in that weird edge case, it's still a reward for not being toxic.

: I'm not sure if I agree. A bunch of my League friends used to report-call. I told them that it was pointless, and often would be considered harassment. They immediately stopped doing it. It went pretty smoothly. Riot overall, in my humble opinion, does a poor job of being transparent with how their punishment system works. Most of it is still common sense, sure, but for players that don't read the boards, there's a lot of misinformation and guesswork.
Report call can be justified but it's very situational and case by case. Definitely, not the way most people do so, and the nuances are normally lost trying to explain the difference when the strongest emotion is anger and frustration, which is why I suspect it's just easier to make a generalization that report-call is bad. I guess I would be more specific with my opinion. Players who don't let their frustrations leak into chat when they aren't having the best of time probably could learn from telling them about report-calling. The toxic players who express their frustration in chat either retaliatory or otherwise to another toxic player, would still do so even when warned against doing so. I think part of it is that there's always a fear "this person is going to get away" if someone doesn't make a report. "What if my client crashes?" "Someone besides me should also send a report?" etc... etc... etc..

Otherwise, all that money and grinding etc... limited ed. skins, rank, history, it's going to be thrown away if you come across someone who knows how to put a half decent player report together.

Teemo Triggered!!! I haven't played that evil little devil in ages, though it can be funny and enjoyable from time to time.
: no. the end of the season is on november. you'd need to get a checkpoint every single week to barely hit honor 2 by the end of the season.
Possible? Yes. Realistic? Probably not. How much time do you have to play? Do you want to sleep, actually have a life, go out, eat something other than packaged meals? :)
: IMO it is much worse when it is a factor outside your own control, like networking or someone playing darius. Being helpless sucks.

Invariably, when pressed for their chat logs, it turns out that they think we'll believe it was the one "stay safe" line that got them banned, not the following fifteen lines of "report this idiot bronze %%%%%% piece of shit" tantrums that unfortunately characterize a troubling percentage of those that play this game. > > So if you want to be taken seriously, prove me wrong and show those logs. You do realize those logs don't show what your team says back. It's made to look like we are just talking shit in chat but in reality the team or someone on the team wanted to say something equally as bad and they never get reported.
You can want to say something... anything actually. Just hold your fingers and think before you hit the enter key. You're responsible for what you say. They are responsible for what they say. You don't have the right to go toxic because someone else was.
: Players like that will continue to do it and continue to be punished for it. Or they'll switch to doing something else punishable. But this will stop this form of harassment in most cases. People who know that it won't have any effect will not try it. And others can immediately shut it down in chat if someone does that, responding like, "y'know that doesn't do anything right? If they're annoying you then just report them yourself after the game." It would help to limit the amount of this kind of harassment that happens daily.
Yeah but we also have it pretty explicit or understood that you're not suppose to run it down mid if you're mad about how a game is going. You're not suppose to troll farm CS or camps. You're not suppose to throw your ADC on the funeral pyre as Ketch..... And yet toxic people still do it. Everyone knows you're not suppose to flame or threaten physical harm on someone for going off-meta or making a high-risk play that doesn't pay off.... and yet these players do it. Telling them not to do something that they feel justified for.... just doesn't compute for them unless they change their core outlook and behavior.
: Would it though? Because if people know that it won't increase the likelihood or severity of a punishment, they will have much less reason to lobby for reports.

: @Riot: Why don't you tell people that reports don't stack?
While I agree, it wouldn't matter. It would fall on deaf ears the same way people who are toxic insist they never said anything warranting punishment. The same way they insist that the toxic players they report never get punished. They way they insist that they are being singled out, etc... etc.... "Riot isn't fair" .. blah blah blah

But if you had a bad game, you get reported with vile intent, to ban you for a bad game and thus the game, which was never supposed to get reviewed by an automated system will DO get reviewed and the player might, effectively, get punished for a bad game. I really hope that riot at least reviews permanent bans manually, but this is clearly not the case with chatrestrictions and 2weeks. So you might get one of those for having a bad game - it's just not stated clearly on the tin. > That's not the said person's anger issues' problem > > Overall, all you're saying that you're more likely to get reported when you go off-meta, BUT the system treats EVERYONE the same, off-meta or not. Disagree. {{summoner:11}} {{summoner:4}} {{champion:63}} did not talk => always reported => not punished Had a player like this. Never typed a thing. Maybe it works differently in EU. But my report got them banned here in NA. [Level 137 player. Didn't type a thing. Had good KDA actually. **Permabanned **for habitual passive playing. : When you know reporting does nothing
Looks like Yi had a bad game. They were in a premade with Corki and Akali. They do well on Yi occasionally, and based on their damage and fact they were in a pre-made, looks like they are actually trying. It's not a strong premade because they have a sub 50% winrate together, but it looks like Akali is putting them into a higher MMR queue. That's the downside of playing with friends though. It happens to all of us. Someone is always the boosted monkey as the saying goes. In a group of five, there's always a less mechanically inclined player. Same goes for a group of two. One of the two is always better than the other. On the other hand, the Jax.... most likely trolling given they sold all their boots, pots, long swords for building all tears at 10 minutes, before the halfway point of the game.

There are some points in a game where it just feels right to gloat some. That alone won't get you in trouble. The thing is that a player report may involve an account review. That's a review of everything you've every typed in pre-match, match, and post-match. It may involve them looking at your match history and everything that entails for the reported matches and previous matches that have had reports (heat map, proximity, etc....). It's the totality that gets you in trouble (assuming there is "other stuff") if you're just purposely trying to skirt the line.

I do believe that Riot is too strict and that they should change to be better. But, it is their game, no one pays for it, they are free to set rules for their online. Gotcha... but eh... I kind of agree to a _point_. We have people saying Riot is too strict.... Others saying Riot is too lax (though its often people unreasonably expecting Riot to admin player reports within like 1 hour of the match ending). Each region's unique support is a bit different when it comes to how they admin player reports due to cultural differences. Then factor in the problem that toxicity is sometimes implicit rather than explicit, actions rather than words, and it gets more complicated. Overall, I'd say Riot does a _good_ job. Naturally, they _could_ do better. Everyone can do better at everything, so I'm just being pragmatic. We have people that purposefully use academic or meaningful discussion as a cover to say whatever they want, when we KNOW it was meant with malice. Ya have to draw the line somewhere, even if it may seem archaic.
