: Thank you Riot Music Producers and Composers
Thank you for listening to League's music and for this post; we all appreciate it so much! {{sticker:zombie-nunu-hearts}} It's really cool and humbling to hear how League's music helped ignite your passion for creating music so much that you're now studying composition in college. I believe many of our stories were somewhat similar, having various soundtracks from games inspire us to follow this path. I know a personal goal for some of us is to hope that we can one day help spark a passion for writing music in others; just like the games/soundtracks/composers of the past did for us. So, THANK YOU for being a part of League for so long and posting this message. We wish you all the best on your journey!

Hello & thanks for reaching out! While there isn't a single set of "rules" one can follow to enter the game music world, there are a few things that may help with those first few steps. 1) Education. You're already on top of this one! It could be studying at a university, online, or with a mentor. The most important thing is that you're always improving and continuing to learn. 2) Community. Go to as many game developer conferences, conventions, meet ups, & other events as you possibly can. Join game audio groups and reach out to people in the industry. 3) Persistence. It can be a difficult path at times, but having the tenacity to push through, learn from that experience, and grow as a composer is important. 4) Passion. Love what you do and pour your heart into your music to create something unique for each project. 5) Collaborate. Be a nice person who people want to be around and feel comfortable sharing candid feedback/ideas. Let them be inspired by the passion you bring to the table and have that creative trust be so solid, that you're all excited to explore new/unexpected musical ideas. Everyone who writes music for games has a different story and their individual paths are unique to them. I hope this reply is helpful and wish you the very best of luck on your journey!
: Sound team, I'm conflicted about what instrument was used for Nunu's flute playing,
Hi TAL15MAN, thanks for listening & your question. Your research is spot on, super impressive! We listened to a lot of different flutes and were most inspired by the Quena's sound; however Nunu & Willump's music isn't played by one exactly. We loved the sound, but the key wasn't right & the timbre was a bit too "bright" for something in the Freljord. So the flute you hear in their Login music is a cane/wood flute like the Quena (although it was performed more like a traditional flute, not recorder), but then we EQ'd the sound after the recording to make it a bit darker/warmer. So glad to hear you love the sound! <3
: I like it, but I wonder - did you have any iteration where the flute was more prominently featured (considering Nunu's lore)? The theme has a 3:5 ratio of sections with flute vs. sections without.
Hi DarkSoul1994 & thanks for your question! Very early on I had some explorations that were purely carried by flute, however it felt more lonely than we wanted. Given that it's now both Nunu & Willump, it made us think that perhaps there could be a duet-like quality to the piece where Flute & Viol Da Gamba play their own lines, double the melody, and even call/answer in some sections. One way of listening to the piece is as follows... Flute = Nunu Viol Da Gamba (Cello sound) = Willump Low Orchestra & Drums = Freljord Voice (at the end) = Layka While Flute still played a critical role in the piece, once we interweaved these various musical elements between background/foreground it started to feel warmer. Ultimately attempting to hit that balance of warmth, hope, and adventure in the face of a very cold and sometimes lonely Freljord. Thanks for listening!
: [Music]: Nunu & Willump's Login Music
I'm happy to hear this piece is one of your favorites, thanks so much for listening & sharing! Swain was way different in tone from Nunu & Willump, but still wonderful to work on & I also love Ed's Pyke theme. <3 {{sticker:zombie-nunu-hearts}}
: If there is one thing the game never failed to deliver, it's good musics.
{{sticker:zombie-nunu-hearts}} So glad to hear you're enjoying their theme! This one was a lot of fun to work on as we were able to record some of my favorite instruments & tie music into their story (with Layka playing a significant influence). Thanks again for listening & your kind words, this made my morning <3
: Thinking about it, Layka might be the one we hear sing "The Path to the Hearth-Home".
{{sticker:slayer-pantheon-thumbs}} very impressive! Well done :) Hmm... as far as a note; here's a few: E, A, G, D, C, D. Keep your ears open!
: Underrated music
Thanks very much for the kind words, we're so glad to hear you're enjoying Akali's music! Beyond the electric violin (which I believe is the string instrument you were curious about) and flute in this piece (both of which were played by wonderful musicians!), one of the primary instruments I used was a tongue drum tuned to the Akebono scale; mixed with a variety of other hang drums. The continuous motion in those drums played a big role in Akali's sound :) {{champion:84}}

Cool vibe, I really enjoyed your interpretation of her theme. Great work! {{sticker:zombie-nunu-hearts}}

: This should be part of an album called Songs of Ionia! I adore Asian themes like this! cant say which one is better this or Irelia's theme! i think most would say Irelia but i cant decide!
Thanks for listening; glad you enjoyed it! :) I personally love Scherzo's Irelia theme & while they are both different champions (and have different music that represents their individual personalities), some of the overarching ideas in Irelia's music certainly influenced the way I approached Akali's music.

: I fking love it!
Thanks for listening; we're glad you're enjoying it so much!
: Music sheets + awesomes musics ♥

Hi KR Zyrie, apologies for that (sometimes the DL option may accidentally be left unchecked) & thank you for bringing it up! I just updated the track on SoundCloud so you should be able to download the piece now :)
: @Riot Music Team, thank you.

It's Swain's time to shine, and boy does the music pull at the heartstrings. I couldn't help but tear up when I first heard it. It's everything a simple main like me could ever imagine it being: stirring with power and dare I say passion. It's wonderful... It's simply beautiful. > > Once again, thank you. Seriously. This is absolutely amazing. Messages like this and knowing that the music could hold such importance to you is truly a huge motivating factor for me each morning I come into work. I try to pour as much love and attention into each theme I have the pleasure of working on. Swain's music, just like everyone prior to it, was a group effort & I had an immense amount of support from all the people on the team. To see that passion translate to a Swain main like yourself makes my day. So Thank YOU for posting! P.S. Thanks Reav3 & Ed for the shoutout :)

: I'd like to share my daughter's league of legends song. (she's 3)
You're absolutely right, that is adorable :) My nephews are at a similar age & I can't wait to introduce them to League (after their parents' permission of course!).

Ah yes, that section around 1:10 hints a bit at the cosmic power she has within; so cool to hear what you're visualizing throughout the piece :) I thought it was showing that she's always alone, and she wants everyone to be her friend but then realizes that she can be happy without them. or am I reading too deep into it.
That's a perfectly legitimate interpretation of that section of music too! Thanks for sharing :)
: Thanks so much for your reply, Talondor!! I really appreciate it and the work that you put into this piece! Even still, every time I open a page with the video on it I have to listen to it again and every time I find something new to love! Like this time I noticed the lull that starts at around 1:10 and makes you imagine she's happened upon a sort of darkness surrounded lit grove with a treasure in the center (Maybe the meep she stole from Bard, hehe!). So awesome!! I remember Ornn's piece was similarly evocative of his personality and feelings towards the world when I heard it, keep up the awesome work!! Can't wait to see what you work on next! {{sticker:sg-ahri-2}}

: Officially My Favorite Login!!
Hi FriendlySuppMain, I had the pleasure of getting to write Zoe's music and am so glad to see you like the piece! I definitely was trying to capture her playful agility with the bouncy harps/synths, string runs, & flute flourishes :) The last champ I worked on was Ornn; quite different in tone & instrumentation, but for both pieces I tried to write a melody that'd get stuck in your head. Zoe is so much fun & I hope you have a ton of fun playing her!
: My dog can't get up and is in a lot of pain
:( I wish your pup all the best and hope she feels better soon!
: BTW is there any place I can download all the music from? I cant find the really old songs. Its hard to always search and download from youtube.
Sure! Our Soundcloud has a lot of the music we've created over the years:

: Who does the Composing for Riot?
Thanks very much for the kind post & we're glad you enjoy the music! There's a team of us that write the music for League & we all have our own projects, but provide feedback/support to one another so we're able to make the best tunes we can.
: Good Job Riot Talondor
Thank you very much, Ethan, this is a great thing to read at the start of the day! I'm really happy to hear you enjoy Ornn's music :)

: I made a Piano cover on Ornn's Login Screen. Can you guys share your opinions ?
: I love how it calls back to the teaser song instead of making a new tune; it feels familiar to me, even though Ornn hasn't existed that long, which makes me like it even more. This is the song that plays when the heroes finally enter the mountain and descend into the forge: the clang of the hammer, the humming of Ornn. It's awe-inspiring.
It makes me so happy that you heard the connection to, "The Path to Hearth-Home"! My inner music nerd was hoping that'd be the case :)

Do you main talon?{{sticker:slayer-pantheon-rainbows}}
Heh, I enjoy playing him, but my main (soon) will be Ornn! My SN is based off an old dragon in the original EverQuest named Talendor. That was the most influential game that got me into both games & music. Interestingly enough, I never even saw or battled with the dragon in the game, I just heard of his myth/legend & thought the name was cool. So ever since then every RPG character I've made has some kind of spelling similar to 'Talendor'.

Wonderful cover & thanks for sharing! I love the fact that you took the time to create this; it really made my day :) We always try our hardest to create the best music we possibly can & seeing/hearing a video like this is truly special.

: Who ever composed Ornn's Poem/Song
Thank you for the very kind words, I'm super happy to see that you're enjoying this piece :) I had a blast figuring out the musical palette for Ornn & specifically working on this piece.
: I kind of need to know, did you guys bring back the vocalist from the Diana login for this? The two of them sound rather similar to my ears. Also something something apparently Ornn hangs out around the Howling Abyss.
We had the pleasure of working with a wonderful vocalist, Christine Hals, on this piece! Different than the Diana song, but both beautiful voices :)
PaladinNO (EUNE)
: I have got to know though...which language is the teaser poem sung in? Because I am getting huge Scandianavian vibes off of it (Danish/Norwegian or thereabout).
